¹ Knowest thou the tyme when the wylde gotes bringe forthe theyr yonge among the stony rockes? Or layest thou wayte when the hyndes vse to fawne? ² rekeneste thou the monethes after they engendre, that thou knowest the tyme of theyr bearynge? ³ or when they lye doune, when they raste theyr younge ones, & when they are delyuered of theyr trauayle and payne? ⁴ How theyr younge ones growe vp & waxe greate thorowe good fedynge? ⁵ who letteth the wylde asse go fre, or who louseth the bondes of the mule? ⁶ Vnto whom I haue geuen the wyldernes to be their house, & the vntylled lande to be theyr dwellynge place. ⁷ That they maye geue no force for the multytude of people in the cytyes, neither regard the crying of the dryuer, ⁸ but seke their pasture aboute the mountaynes, and folow the grene grasse. ⁹ Whyl the vnicorne be so tame as to do the seruyce, or to abyde styl by thy cryb? ¹⁰ Canste thou bynd the yocke about him in thy sorowes, to make him plowe after the in the valleys? ¹¹ Mayest thou trust him (because he is strong) or committe thy laboure vnto hym? ¹² Mayest thou beleue him, that he wyll brynge home the corne, or to cary any thyng vnto the barne? ¹³ The Estrych (whose fethers are fayrer then the wynges of the sparowe hauke) ¹⁴ when he hath layed hys egges vpon the ground he bredeth them in the dust, ¹⁵ & forgetteth them: so that they myght be troden with fete, or broken with some wylde beaste. ¹⁶ So harde is he vnto hys yong ones, as thoughe they were not hys, & laboureth in vayne wythout anye feare. ¹⁷ And that because God hath taken wysdome from hym, & hath not geuen hym vnderstandynge. ¹⁸ When hys tyme is, he flyeth vp on hye, & careth neyther for horse nor man. ¹⁹ Haste thou geuen the horse his strength, or learned him to bowe doune his necke wt feare: ²⁰ that he letteth him selfe be dryuen forthe lyke a greshopper, where as the stoute neyenge that he maketh, is fearfull? ²¹ he breaketh the grounde with the hoffes of hys fete chearfullye in hys strength, & runneth to mete the harueste men. ²² He layeth a syde all feare, hys stomack is not abated, neyther starteth he a backe for anye swerde. ²³ Thoughe the quyuers rattle vpon him though the speare & shyld glystre: ²⁴ yet rusheth he in fearsely, and beateth vpon the grounde, He feareth not the noyse of the trompettes, ²⁵ but as sone as he heareth the shawmes blow, thushe (sayth he) for he smelleth the battell a farre of, the noyse, the Captaynes and the shoutynge. ²⁶ Commeth it thorow thy wisdome, that the Goshauke flyeth towarde the South? ²⁷ Dothe the Aegle mounte vp, and make his neste on hye at the commaundement? ²⁸ He abydeth in the stonye rockes, and vpon the hye toppes of harde mountaynes, where no man can come. ²⁹ From thence maye he beholde his praye, and loke farre aboute wyth hys eyes. ³⁰ His younge ones are fed with bloude, & where any deade bodye lyeth, there is he immediatly.

² Then Saul toke thre thousand chosen men out of al Israel, & went to seke Dauid & his men in the Rockes, where nothyng haunted but wyld gotes.

⁹ The voyce of the Lorde moueth the hyndes and discouereth the thicke bushes: in hys temple shall euerye man speake of hys honoure.

¹⁸ The hilles are a refuge for the wilde goates, & so are the stony rockes for the conyes.

⁵ The Hynde shall forsake the yonge fawne, that he bringeth forth in the felde because there shalbe no grasse.

²⁴ and thy wantonnes is like a wilde Asse, that vseth the wildernesse, and that snoffeth and bloweth at his wyll. Who can tame the? All they that seke the, shal not fayle, but finde the in thine owne vnclennes.

¹² He wyll be a wylde man, & hys hande wyl be agaynst euery man, & euery mans hande agaynst hym. And yet shall he dwel faste by al hys brethren.

¹⁴ Isachar is a stronge asse, he couched hym doune betwene two borders,

⁵ Doeth the wylde asse roare when he hath grasse? Or cryeth the oxe, when he hath foder ynoug?

¹² A vayne body exalteth hym selfe, & the sonne of man is lyke a wyld asses foale.

⁵ Beholde, the wilde asses in the deserte go by tymes, as their maner is, to spoyle: Yea, the very wyldernesse mynystreth fode for their children.

¹¹ That all beastes of the felde maye haue drynke, & that the wilde asses maye quenche their thyrste.

¹⁴ The palaces also shalbe broken, and the greatly occupied cities desolate. The towers and bulworkes shalbe become deunes for euermore, the pleasure of Mules shalbe turned to pasture for shepe:

⁶ The wylde Asses shall stande in the Mosse, and drawe in their wynde lyke the Dragons, their eyes shall fayle for want of grasse.

²¹ He was shote oute from amonge men, his herte was lyke a beastes herte, and hys dwellynge was wyth the wylde asses: he was fayne to eate grasse lyke an oxe, and hys body was wet with the dewe of the heauen: tyll he knewe, that the hyest had power vpon the kingdomes of men, and setteth ouer them, whome he lyst.

⁹ Sence they wente vp to the Assirians, they are become lyke a wylde asse in the deserte. Ephraim geueth rewardes to get louers,

²³ how all the land is burnt vp wyth bremstone & salt, & that it is nether sowne nor beareth, nor any grasse groweth therin, after the ouerthrowing of Sodome, Gomor, Adama and Zeboim: which the Lord ouerthrewe in his wrath and angre.

³⁴ A frutefull lande maketh he baren, for the wickednesse of them that dwell therin.

⁶ He shall be lyke the heeth, that groweth in the wildernes. As for the good thing that is for to come, he shal not se it: but dwell in a drye place of the wildernes, in a salt and vnoccupied lande.

¹¹ As for hys claye & pyttes, they shall not be whole, for why, it shalbe occupyde for salt.

¹³ And the taskemasters hasted them forwarde saying: fulfyl your worcke day by day, euen as when strawe was geuen you. ¹⁴ And the officers of the children of Israel whych Pharaos taskemasters had set ouer theym, were beaten. And it was sayd vnto them: wherfore haue you not fulfilled your taske in making brycke both yesterdaye and to daye, as well as in tymes past. ¹⁵ Then went the offycers of the chyldren of Israel & complayned vnto Pharao saynge: wherfore dealest thou thus with thy seruantes? ¹⁶ there is no strawe geuen vnto thy seruauntes, and yet they say vnto vs make bryke. ¹⁸ Go therefore and worcke, for there shall no strawe be geuen you, & yet se that ye delyuer the whole tale of brycke.

¹⁸ there are those let out fre, whych haue bene in preson, so that they heare nomore the voyce of the oppressour:

¹⁸ When hys tyme is, he flyeth vp on hye, & careth neyther for horse nor man.

⁴ For thus hath the Lorde spoken vnto me: Lyke as the lyon or lyons whelpe roareth vpon the praye that he hath gotten, and is not afrayed, thoughe the multitude of shepardes crye oute vpon hym, nether abashed for all the heape of them: So shal the Lord of Hostes come doune from the mounte of Sion, and defend his hil.

³ Wherfore fast we (saye they) and thou seist it not? we put oure lyues to straytnesse, & thou regardest it not?

²⁹ And God sayde: see, I haue geuen you al herbes that sowe seed, whyche are on all the erth, & all maner trees that haue frute in them and sowe seed: to be meate for you ³⁰ and for al beastes of the erth, and vnto all foules of the ayre, and vnto all that crepeth on the erth, where in is lyfe, that they maye haue all maner herbes and grasse for to eate, and euen so it was.

¹⁵ Behold Behemoth (whom I made with the) which eateth haye as an oxe:

²⁰ that the mountaynes shuld geue hym grasse, where all the beastes of the fylde take theyr pastyme. ²¹ He lyeth amonge the redes in the Mosses, the fennes ²² hyde him wyth theyr shadowe, & the wylowes of the broke couer hym rounde about.

²⁷ They wayte all vpon the, that thou mayest geue them meate in due season. ²⁸ When thou geuest it them, they gather it: when thou openest thyne hande, they are filled with good.

¹⁵ The eyes of all wayte vpon the, and thou geuest them their meate in due season. ¹⁶ Thou openest thyne hande, and fyllest all thinges liuing with plenteousnesse.

²² God hath brought them out of Egypt is as the strength of an vnicorne vnto them,

¹⁷ his beutye is as fyrsteborne oxe and hys hornes as the hornes of an vnycorne. And wyth them he shal push the nations togyther, euen vnto the endes of the world. These are the many thousandes of Ephraim and the thousandes of Manasses.

²¹ Saue me from the Lyons mouth, & heare me from amonge the hornes of the Vnicornes.

¹⁰ But my horne shalbe exalted like the horne of an Vnicorne, & shalbe anoynted wyth fresh oyle.

³ An oxe knoweth hys Lorde, & an Asse his masters stall: but Israel knoweth nothynge, my people hath no vnderstanding.

¹⁴ there came a messenger vnto Iob, & sayde: Whyle the oxen were a plowynge, & the Asses going in the pasture besyde them:

⁵ who letteth the wylde asse go fre, or who louseth the bondes of the mule?

⁷ That they maye geue no force for the multytude of people in the cytyes, neither regard the crying of the dryuer,

⁵ Wylt thou take thy pastyme wyth hym as with a byrd, or geue him vnto thy maydens,

³ The plowers plowed vpon my backe, & made longe forowes.

¹⁰ I wyl chasten them, euen after myne owne desyre, the people shalbe gathered together ouer them, when I punishe them for their greate wyckednesse. ¹¹ Ephraim was vnto me, as a cowe that is vsed to go to plowe, therfore I loued him, & fel vpon his fayre neck, I droue Ephraim, Iuda plowed, and Iacob played the husbande man,

¹³ The greate noyse of the charettes shal feare them, that dwell at Lachis, whyche is an occasyon of the synne of the daughter of Sion, for in the came vp the wyckednesses of Israell.

²⁶ And God sayde: let vs make man in oure similitude & after our lycknesse: that he may haue rule ouer the fysh of the sea, and ouer the foules of the ayre, & ouer catell, and ouer all the erth, and ouer all wormes that crepe on the erth.

²⁸ And God blessed them, & God sayde vnto them: Growe and multiplye & fyl the erth, & subdue it, & haue dominion ouer the fyshes of the sea, and ouer the foules of the ayre, and ouer al the beastes that moue on the erth.

² The feare also & dreade of you be vpon all beastes of the earthe, and vppon all foules of the ayre, & vpon al that crepeth on the earth, and vpon all fyshes of the sea, whych are geuen vnto your handes.

²⁶ And they laded theyr asses wyth the corne and departed thence.

⁷ Some put their trust in charettes, & some in horses: but we will remembre the name of the Lorde oure God.

¹⁶ A kynge is not helped by hys owne great hoost, neyther is a giaunte saued thorow the myght of hys owne strength. ¹⁷ A horse is but a vayne thing to saue a man, it is not the power of hys strengthe that can delyuer hym.

¹⁴ That our oxen may be strong to laboure, that there be no mischaunce, no decaye, & no complaynyng in our stretes.

¹⁰ He hath no pleasure in the strengthe of an horse, neither deliteth he in any mans legges.

⁴ Where no oxen are, ther the cribbe is empty: but where the oxen labour ther is much frute.

⁶ Youre beastes haue borne burthens vpon theyr backes towarde the Southe, thorow the way that is full of parell and trouble, because of the lyon & lyones, of the Cockatryce & shutynge dragon. Yea the Mules bare youre substaunce, & the Camels brought your treasure vpon their croked backes, vnto a people that can not helpe you.

¹⁶ Notwithstandynge ye regarde it not, but ye wyll saye: No, for thus are we constrayned to fle vpon horses. And therfore shall ye fle, we muste ryde vpon swift beastes, and therfore youre persecutours shal yet be swyfter.

¹ Wo be vnto them that go doune into Egypte for help, and trust in horses, & comforte themselues in charettes, because they be many, & in horse men because they be lusty & strong. But they regarde not the holy one of Israel, and they aske no question at the Lorde. ² Where as he neuertheles plageth the wicked, and yet goeth not from hys word when he steppeth forthe, and taketh the victory agaynste the housholde of the frowarde, & agaynste the helpe of euyll doars. ³ Nowe the Egypcyans are men, and not God, and theyr horses fleshe and not sprete. And as soone as the Lorde stretched oute his hande, then shall the helper fall, and he that shuld haue ben helped, and shall all together be destroyed.

¹ Neuertheles Bell shall fall, and Nabo shalbe broken: whose ymages are a burthen for the beastes and cattell, to ouerlade them, and to make them weery.

¹⁵ At the same tyme sawe I some tredynge wynepresses on the Saboth, and bryngynge in clusters, and asses laden wyth wyne, grapes, fygges, and bryngynge al maner of burthens vnto Ierusalem, vpon the Saboth day. And I rebuked them earnestlye the same daye that they solde the vytayles.

¹⁶ Vpon her righte hande is longe lyfe, and vppon her lefte hande is ryches and honour.

¹³ Beholde, I will crashe you in sonder, lyke as a wayne crassheth, that is full of sheaues,

¹⁹ is not the sede yet in the barne? haue not the vines, the fyggetrees, the pomgranates, & oliue trees bene yet vnfrutefull? but from this day forth, I shall make them to prospere.

² saying: Repent the kingdome of heauen is at hande.

³⁰ Let both growe together tyl haruest come, & in tyme of haruest, I wyl saye to the reapers, gather ye fyrst the tares, & bynde theym in shewes too be brent: but gather the wheate into my barne.

¹⁹ the heron, the iay with the kynd, the lapwyng, and the swalowe.

²² For the sea shyppes whiche the kynge had in the sea, wyth the shippes of Hiram, came everye thyrde yeare laden wyth goulde, syluer, Iuory, apes and pecockes.

²¹ For the kynges shyppes wente to Tharsis with the seruauntes of Hiram euery thre yeare once. And the shyppes of Tharsis brought gould, siluer the tethe of elephantes, apes, and pecockes.

²⁹ But now, I am a companion of dragons, & a felowe of Estriches.

¹⁷ There make the byrdes their nestes, & the fyrre hylles are a dwellyng for the storke.

⁷ The Storke knoweth hys appoynted tyme, the Turtledoue, the Swalowe & the Crane consydre the tyme of theyr trauayle: but my people wyll not know the tyme of the punyshmente of the Lorde.

⁹ Then lyft I vp myne eyes, and loked: & beholde, there came oute two wemen, & the wynd was in theyr wynges (for they had wynges lyke the wynges of a storke) & they lyfte vp the measure betwixt the earth & the heauen.

⁵⁶ Yea, and the woman that is so tender & delycate among you that she dare not aduenture to sett the sole of her foote vpon the grounde for softnesse and tendernesse, shalbe greued to loke on the husbande that lyeth in her bosome and on her sonne & on her daughter: ⁵⁷ euen because of the after byrthe, that is come out from betwene her legges, & because of her chyldren which she hath borne, because she wolde eate them for nede of all thynges secretly, in the straytenes & seyge wherwyth thyne enemye shal besyege the in thy cyties.

²⁶ Then spake the woman whose the lyuyng chylde was, vnto the kynge (for her bowelles yerned vpon her sonne) and sayde: I beseche the my Lorde, geue her the lyuynge chylde, and in no wyse sley it. And the other sayde: it shalbe neyther myne nor thyne, but deuide it. ²⁷ Then the kynge aunswered & sayd: geue her the lyuyng chylde, and sley it not, for she is the mother therof.

²⁸ Then sayde the kyng to her: what ayleth the? And she aunswered: thys woman here sayde to me, brynge thy sonne, and let vs eate hym to daye, and we wyll eate myne to morowe? ²⁹ And so we dressed my sonne, and dyd eate hym. And I sayde to her another day, brynge thy sonne that we maye eate hym. But she had hyd her sonne.

¹⁵ The labour of the folish is greuous vnto them, whyle they know not how to go into the cytye.

²⁰ Res. Behold, O Lord, and consydre, why hast thou gathered me vp so cleane? Shall the wemen then eate their owne fruyte, euen chyldren of a spanne longe? Shall the prestes and prophetes be slayne thus in the Sanctuarye of the Lorde?

³ Gymel. The Lamyes geue their yonge ones suck with bare brestes: but the daughter of my people is cruell, and dwelleth in the wyldernesse: lyke the Eltriches.

¹³ Shall not the Lorde of hostes brynge thys to passe, that the laboures of the people shal be brent wyth a greate fyre, & that the thynge wherevpon the people haue weeryed them selues, shall be lost?

³¹ wythout vnderstandynge, couenaunt breakers, vnlouinge, truce breakers and mercyles.

³⁰ But Sehon the kyng of Hesbon wold not let vs passe by hym, for the Lord thy GOD had hardened hys sprite and made his herte tough because he wold delyuer him in to thy handes as it is come to passe thys day.

³¹ But when the Ambassadoures of the Lordes of Babylon were sent to hym to enquyre of the wondre that chaunsed in the land, God lefte hym: to tempte hym, that all that was in hys herte myght be knowen.

⁴ Thou haste withholden their hertes from vnderstandyng, therfore shall they not be sett vp on hye.

¹¹ Whiche geueth vs more vnderstandyng then he doth the beastes of the earthe, and teacheth vs more then the foules of heauen.

¹¹ Yea the vndiscrete Princes of Zoan, the councel of the wise Senatoures of Pharao, shall turne to folyshenesse. Those that darre boast & saye of Pharaos behalfe: I am come of wyse people, ¹² I am come of the olde regall Progeny. But where are now thy wyse men? Let them tel the & shewe the, what the Lorde of hostes hath taken in hande agaynst Egipt. ¹³ Fooles are these Prynces of Zoan, & proude are the Princes of Noph: yea they disceyue Egypte with the nobilitye of their stock. ¹⁴ For the Lorde hath made Egypte droncken with the spirit of erroure, and they shal vse it in al matters, euen lyke as a droncken man goeth spewynge aboute.

¹⁷ I am wroth with him for his couetousnes and lust, I smyte him, I hyd me, and am angry, when he turneth him selfe, & foloweth the by the waye of his owne herte.

¹⁷ Euery good gyfte, and euerye perfecte gyfte, is from aboue and commeth doune from the father of lyght wyth whome is no varyablenes, neyther is he chaunged vnto darkenes.

²¹ This is the kinge that the lorde sayth of him: he hath despysed the, O virgine doughter of Sihon: he hath shaked his head at the, thou doughter of Ierusalem:

²² In destruccion & derth thou shalt be mercy, & shalt not be afrayed for the beastes of the earth:

²² He layeth a syde all feare, hys stomack is not abated, neyther starteth he a backe for anye swerde.

²⁹ He counteth the hammer no better then a strawe, he laugheth hym to scorne that shaketh the speare.

¹ Then Moses and the chyldren of Israel sange thys songe vnto the Lord & sayd. Let vs synge vnto the Lorde, for he is become gloryous, the horsse & hym that rode vpon him hath he ouerthrowne in the sea.

²⁵ but as sone as he heareth the shawmes blow, thushe (sayth he) for he smelleth the battell a farre of, the noyse, the Captaynes and the shoutynge.

¹ The Lorde is kyng, and hath put on glorious apparell, the Lorde hath put on his apparell, & gyrded him selfe with strengthe: he hath made the rounde world so sure, that it can not be moued.

¹ Prayse the Lorde O my soule: O Lord my God, thou art become excedinge glorious, thou arte clothed with maiesty and honoure.

¹⁷ And he called Iames the sonne of Zebede and Iohn, Iames brother, and gaue them Boanarges to name: whiche is to saye, the sonnes of thounder,

²⁰ oute of hys nostrels there goeth a smoke, like as oute of an hote sethinge pot. ²¹ His breth maketh the cotes burne, the flamme goeth out of hys mouth.

¹⁶ Then shall the noyse of his horses be hearde from Dan, the whole lande shall be afrayed at the neyenge of his stronge horses: for they shal go in, & deuoute the lande, with al that is in it: the cities, and those that dwel therin.

⁵ They skyppe vp vpon the hylles, as it were the sounde of charettes, as the flamme of fyre that consumeth the strawe, and as a myghtye people ready to the battell.

²² Then they malled the horsses legges, that theyr myghtye coursers lefte praunsyng.

And the weyght of his coote of mayle was fyue thousande Cyckles of brasse. ⁶ And he had harnesse of brasse vpon hys legges, and a shilde of brasse vpon hys shoulders. ⁷ And the shaft of hys spere was like a weauers beame. And hys speare heade weyed syx hundred sykles of yron. And one bearynge a shylde went before hym. ⁸ And he stode and called vnto the hoste of Israel, and sayde vnto them: what neadeth that ye shoulde come out in araye to battell? am not I a Philistine, and you seruauntes to Saul, chose you a man, and let hym come doune to me, ⁹ yf he be able to fyght wyth me, and to beate me, then we wyll be youre seruauntes. But yf I can ouercome hym and beate hym, then ye shalbe oure seruauntes and serue vs. ¹⁰ And the Philistine said: I haue defyed the host of Israel thys daye geue me a man and let vs fyght together.

⁴² And when the Philistine loked and sawe Dauid, he disdayned hym, for he was but a ladd, roudye and goodly to loke vpon.

⁵ In them hathe he sette a tabernacle for the Sunne, whych commeth forthe as a brydegrome out of his chamber, and reioyseth as a giaunt to runne his course.

³¹ The horse is prepared against the day of battail, but the Lord geueth the victory.

⁶ For I haue loked, & consydered: but there is no man that speaketh a good worde: there is no man that taketh repentaunce for hys synne, that wyll so muche as saye: wherfore haue I done thys? But euerye man (as sone as he is turned backe) runneth forth styl, lyke a wylde horse in a battayle.

²³ Moreouer, thus sayeth the Lorde: Let not the wyse man reioyse in his wisdome, nor the stronge man in hys strength, neyther the ryche man in hys ryches:

¹⁶ So harde is he vnto hys yong ones, as thoughe they were not hys, & laboureth in vayne wythout anye feare.

³³ Vpon earth is there no power lyke vnto hys, for he is so made that he feareth not.

²⁶ If he drawe out the swearde, there maye neyther speare nor brest plate, abyde hym ²⁷ He setteth as much by a strawe as by yron, and as muche by a rotten stocke as by metall. ²⁸ He starteth not away for hym that bendeth the bowe: & as for slynge stones, he careth as muche for stubble as for them. ²⁹ He counteth the hammer no better then a strawe, he laugheth hym to scorne that shaketh the speare.

¹⁶ All be it that I call vpon him, and he heare me, yet am I not sure, that he hath herde my voce:

²⁴ When I laughed, they knew wel it was not earnest: and this testimony of my countenaunce pleased them nothinge at all.

²⁰ Shall it be tolde hym what I saye? Shulde a man speake, or shuld he kepe it backe?

¹⁹ Ah my belye, ah my belye, (shalt thou crye) how is my hert so sore? my herte painteth within me, I can not be styl, for I haue hearde the cryeng of the trompettes and peales of warre.

⁶ Crye they oute alarum wyth the trompet in the cytye, and the people not afrayed? Commeth there anye plage in a cytye withoute it be the Lordes doynge?

⁸ Their horses are swifter then the cattes of the mountayne, & byte sorer then the wolues in the euenynge. Theyr horsmen come by greate heapes from farre, they fle hastely to deuour as the Aegle. ⁹ They come all to spoyle: oute of them commeth an easte wynde, whiche bloweth and gathereth theyr captyues, lyke as the sande.

⁴¹ And while they yet beleued not for ioye, and wondred, he said vnto them: haue ye here anye meate?

³ Let them sone be broughte to shame, that crye ouer me, there there.

² Thou sonne of man, because that Tyre hathe spoken vpon Ierusalem: A ha, now I trow the portes of the people be broken, & she turned vnto me, for I haue destroied my bely ful:

² Thus sayeth the Lorde God: Because youre enemye hath sayde vpon you: A ha, the hye euerlastynge places are now become ours:

¹¹ And Aaron shall brynge the bullock of hys synneoffryng, and reconcyle for him selfe and for his houshold, and kyl hym.

⁴ ye haue sene what I dyd vnto the Egipcians & how I toke you vp vpon Egles wynges, & haue brought you vnto my self.

¹³ These are the foules which ye shal abhorre, & whych shal not be eaten, for they are an abhomination. The egle, the goshauke, the cormoraunte,

⁵ Whiche satisfeth thy desyre wyth good thynges, makyng the yonge and lusty as an Aegle.

⁵ Why wylt thou set thyne eie vpon the thing, which sodenly vanysheth awaye? For ryches make them selues wynges, & take their flight lyke an Aegle into the ayre.

³¹ But vnto them that haue the Lorde before their eyes, shal strength be encreased, Aegles wynges shall growe vpon them: When they runne they shall not fal: and when they go, they shal not be weery.

¹⁶ Thy hye stomack & the pryde of thy herte haue disceyued the, because thou wylte dwell in the holes of stony rockes, and haue the hye mountaines in possessyon. Neuertheles though thy neste were as hye as the Aegles, yet will I caste the doune, sayeth the Lorde.

¹ Set the horne to thy mouthe, & blowe: get the swyftly (as an Aegle) vnto the house of the Lorde: for they haue broken my couenaunt, & transgressed my law.

⁴ But though thou wentest vp as hye as the Aegle, and maydest thy nest aboue amonge the starres: yet wylde I plucke the downe from thence.

⁴ And in the way ouer by whiche Ionathas sought to go ouer vnto the garyson of the philistines, were there two sharpe rockes, euen one on the one syde, & the other on the other syde: the one called Bozez, & the other Seneh.

²⁶ They are passed awaye, as the shippes that be good vnder sayle, and as the Aegle that hasteth to the praye.

¹⁷ And thou sonne of man: thus sayth the Lorde God: Speake vnto all the foules and euery byrde, yee and to all the wylde beastes of the felde: heape you together and come, gather you rounde aboute vpon my slaughter, that I haue slayne for you: euen a greate slaughter vpon the mountaynes of Israell: eate flesh, and drincke bloude. ¹⁸ Ye shall eate the flesh of the worthies, and drynke the bloude of the prynces of the lande: of the wethers, of the lambes of the goates, and of the oxen that be al slayne at Basan. ¹⁹ Eate the fat youre belyfull, & dryncke bloud, tyll ye be dronken of the slaughter, whyche I haue slayne vnto you.

²⁸ For whersoeuer a dead carkes is, euen thither wyl egles resort.

³⁷ And they aunswered, & sayde to hym: where Lorde? And he sayed vnto them: wheresoeuer the body shalbe, thyther wyl the egles resorte.
