¹ Before the feast of Easter when Iesus knew that hys houre was come, that he shulde depart oute of thys worlde vnto the father. When he loued his which were in the worlde, vnto the ende he loued them.

³ Euen so shall the Lorde nowe also apeare vnto me from farre, & saye: I loue the with an euerlasting loue, therfore do I sprede my mercye before the.

² Ye know that after two dayes shalbe easter, and the sonne of man shalbe delyuered to be crucifyed. ³ Then assembled together the chiefe priestes and the scrybes and the elders of the people to the palaice of the hye priest, called Cayphas, ⁴ and helde a counsell, howe they myghte take Iesus by sutteltie, and kyl hym. ⁵ But they sayed, not on the holy daye, lest any vproure aryse amonge the people.

⁴⁵ Then came he to hys discyples and sayde vnto them: Slepe hence forth and take youre reste. For lo the houre is at hande, and the sonne of man shalbe delyuered into the handes of synners.

²⁰ Teachyng then to obserue all thynges whatsoeuer I commaunded you, And lo I am with you alwaye, euen vntyll the ende of the worlde.

¹ After two dayes folowed easter and the dayes of swete breade. And the hye priestes and the scrybes soughte meanes howe they myght take hym by crafte, and put hym to death. ² But they sayde: Not in the feast daye least any busynes aryse among the people.

⁵¹ And it folowed when the tyme was come, that he shoulde be receyued vp, then he set his face to go to Ierusalem,

³² And he sayed vnto them, Go ye and tell that foxe, beholde I caste oute deuyls, & heale the people to day and to morowe, and the third daye I make an ende. ³³ Neuertheles, I must walke to daye and to morowe and the daye folowynge. For it can not be, that a prophet perysh any other wher, saue at Hierusalem

¹ The feast of swete bread drue nye whiche is called easter, ² and the hye pryestes and scribes sought how to kyl hym, but they feared the people.

⁵³ When I was dayly with you in temple, ye stretched not forth handes agaynste me. But this is euen youre verye houre, and the power of darcknes.

⁴ And easter a feast of the Iewes was nye.

⁶ Then Iesus sayde vnto them: My tyme is not yet come, your tyme is alway redye.

³⁰ Then they sought to take hym: but no man layde handes on hym, because his tyme was not yet come.

²⁰ These wordes spake Iesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple, and no man layde handes on hym, for hys tyme was not yet come.

⁹ Iesus aunswered: are there not .xij. houres in the daye of a man walke in the daye, he stombleth not, because he seeth the lyght of thys world. ¹⁰ But yf a man walke in the nyght, he stombleth, because there is no lyght in him.

⁵⁵ And the Iewes Easter was nye at hande, and manye wente oute of the countrye vp to Hierusalem before the Easter, to purifie them selues.

²³ And Iesus aunswered them sayinge: The houre is come that the sonne of man must be glorifyed.

³ Iesus knowyng that the father had geuen all thynges into hys handes, and that he was come from God, and went to God,

³⁴ A newe commaundement geue I vnto you, that ye loue together, as I haue loued you, that euen so ye loue one another.

²⁸ Ye haue hearde how I sayde vnto you. I go and come agayne vnto you. Yf ye loued me, ye would verely reioyce, because I sayde: I go vnto the father. For the father is greater then I.

⁹ As the father hath loued me, euen so haue I loued you. Continue in my loue. ¹⁰ Yf ye shal kepe my commaundementes, ye shall byde in my loue, euen as I haue kepte my fathers commaundementes, and abyde in hys loue.

¹³ Greater loue then thys hath no man, then that a man bestowe hys lyfe for hys frendes. ¹⁴ Ye are my frendes, yf ye do whatsoeuer I commaunde you.

⁵ But nowe I go my waye to hym that sent me, and none of you axeth me, whyther goest thou? ⁶ But because I haue sayde suche thinges vnto you, youre hertes are full of sorowe. ⁷ Neuerthelesse I tell you the trueth, it is expediente for you that I go awaye. For yf I go not awaye, that comforter wil not come vnto you. But yf I departe, I wil sende hym vnto you.

²⁸ I wente oute from the father, and came into the world, and I leaue the world agayne, and go to the father.

¹ These wordes spake Iesus, & lyfte vp hys eyes to heauen, and said: father the houre is come: glorify thy sonne, that thy sonne maye glorifye the:

⁵ And nowe glorifye me thou father with thyne owne selfe with the glorye which I had with the, yer the worlde was

⁹ I praye for them, and praye not for the worlde but for them whome thou haste geuen me, for they are thyne. ¹⁰ And all myne are thyne, and thyne are myne, and I am glorifyed in them. ¹¹ And now am I no more in the world, but they are in the worlde, and I come to the. Holy father kepe in thyne owne name, them whom thou hast geuen me, that they maye be one, as we are.

¹³ Nowe come I to the, and these wordes speake I in the worlde, that they myghte haue my ioye full in them. ¹⁴ I haue geuen them thy wordes, and the worlde hath hated them, because they are not of the worlde, euen as I am not of the worlde.

¹⁶ They are not of the worlde, as I am not of the world.

²⁶ And I haue declared vnto them thy name, & will declare it that the loue where with thou haste loued me, be in them, and that I be in them.

⁴ Then Iesus knowing all thynges that should come on hym, wente forth, and sayed vnto them: whom seke ye?

³⁷ Neuerthelesse in all these thynges we ouercome stronglye thorowe hys helpe that loued vs.

⁸ which shal strength you vnto the ende, that ye may be blamelesse in the daye of oure Lorde Iesus Christ.

²⁵ Husbandes loue youre wyues, euen as Christe loued the congregation, and gaue him selfe for it, ²⁶ to sanctifye it, and cleansed it in the fountayne of water thorowe the worde

⁶ But Chryste as a sonne hath rule ouer the house, whose house are we, so that we holde faste the confidence and the reioysynge of that hope, vnto the ende.

¹⁴ We are partakers of Christe, yf we kepe sure vnto the ende the fyrste substaunce,

¹¹ Yea, and we desyre that euerye one of you shew the same dylygence, to the stablyshynge of hope euen vnto the ende:

¹³ Wherfore gyrde vp the loynes of youre myndes, be sober, and trust perfectelye on the grace that is broughte vnto you, by the declarynge of Iesus Christe,

¹⁹ We loue him, for he loued vs fyrste.

⁵ and from Iesus Christ, whiche is a faythfull wytnes, and fyrst begotten of the dead, and Lorde ouer the kynges of the earth. Vnto him, that loued vs and washed vs from synnes in his owne bloude,
