² and sayde before hys brethren, and the hoste of Samaria: what do the impotente Iewes? shall they be thus suffered? shall they offre? shal they perfourme it in one daye? shal they make the stones whole agayn that are broughte to dust, & brent?

¹¹ And when they had bothe shewed them selues vnto the garison of the Philistines, the Philistines sayd: se the Ebrewes come out of the holes where thei had hidde them selues in. ¹² And the men of the garison answered Ionathas & hys harnesbearer & sayde: come vp to vs, & we wyl shew you a thyng. Then sayd Ionathas vnto hys harnesbearer: come vp after me, for the Lord hath delyuered them into the handes of Israel.

⁴³ And the Philistine sayde vnto Dauid: am I a dogge, that thou comest to me with a staf? and he cursed Dauid in the name of hys Goddes. ⁴⁴ And he sayde to Dauid: come to me & I wyll geue thy fleshe vnto the fowles of the ayre, and to the beastes of the felde?

⁹ We Rehum the chaunceler, and Samsai the scrybe, and other of the counsel of Dina, of Arphasat, of Tarplat, of Persia, of Arach of Babilon of Susan, of Deha, and of Elam ¹⁰ & other of the people, whome the greate & noble Asenaphar broughte ouer, and set in the cytyes of Samaria, and other on this syde the water, and in Ceneeth.

¹⁰ And Iuda sayd: the strength of the bearers is to feble, & there is to muche duste, we are not able to buylde on the wall.

²⁷ And in the dedycacyon of the wall at Ierusalem, were the Leuytes soughte oute of all theyr places, that they myghte be broughte to Ierusalem, to kepe the dedicacyon and gladnesse, with thankesgeuynges, wyth syngyng with Cymbales, Psalteries and harpes.

⁴³ And the same daye were there greate sacrifyces offered, and they reioysed: for God had geuen them greate gladnesse, so that both the wyues & chyldren were ioyfull, & the myrthe of Ierusalem was hearde farre of.

³ Then sayde he vnto me: Thou sonne of man: thinkest thou these bones maye lyue agayne? I answered: O Lorde God, thou knowest. ⁴ And he sayde vnto me: prophecye thou vpon these bones, & speake vnto them: Ye drye bones, heare the worde of the Lorde. ⁵ Thus sayeth the Lorde God vnto these bones: Beholde, I wyll put breth into you, that ye maye lyue: ⁶ I wyll geue yow synowes, and make flesh grow vpon you, & couer you ouer with skinne: & so geue you breth, that ye may lyue, and knowe, that I am the Lorde. ⁷ So I prophecyed, as he had commaunded me. And as I was prophecyinge there came a noyse and a greate mocyon, so that the bones ranne euery one to another. ⁸ Now when I had loked, beholde, they had synowes, and flesh grewe vpon them: and aboue they were couered with skynne, but there was no breth in them. ⁹ Then sayde he vnto me: Thou sonne of man, prophecye thou towarde the wynde: prophecy, & speake to the wynd: Thus sayeth the Lord God: Come (O thou ayre) from the foure wyndes, and blowe vpon these slayne, that they maye be restored to lyfe. ¹⁰ So I prophecied, as he had commaunded me: then came the breth into them, & they receyued lyfe, & stode vp vpon their fete, a maruelous greate sorte. ¹¹ Moreouer, he sayde vnto me: Thou sonne of man, these bones are the whole house of Israell. Beholde, they saye: Oure bones are dryed vp, oure hope is gone, we are clene cut of. ¹² Therfore prophecye thou, & speake vnto them: thus sayeth the Lord God: Beholde, I wyll open youre graues (O my people) & take you out of youre sepulcres, & bringe you in to the lande of Israel agayne. ¹³ So shall ye know that I am the Lorde, when I open your graues, & bringe you out of them.

² O Lord, when I hearde speake of the, I was afrayed. The worck that thou hast taken in hande, shalt thou perfourme in his tyme (O Lord): and when thy time commeth, thou shalte declare it. In thy verye wrath thou thinckest vpon mercye.

⁸ In that day shal the Lord defende the citesins of Ierusalem: so that the weakest then amonge them shalbe as Dauid: & the house of Dauid shalbe lyke as Gods house, and as the Angel of the Lorde before them.

²⁷ but God had chosen the folyshe thynges of the worlde, to confounde the wise. And God hath chosen the weake thinges of the worlde, to confounde thynges, whyche are myghty.
