¹⁷ My sonne, bow down thine eare, and herken vnto the wordes of wysdome, applye thy mynde vnto my doctryne:

¹² O teach vs to numbre our daies, that we maye apply our hertes vnto wisdome.

³ righteousnesse, iudgement & equite.

² that thyne eare may herken vnto wisdome, applie thyne hert then to vnderstanding. ³ For if thou cryest after wysdome, & callest for knowledge: ⁴ if thou sekest after her as after money, & dyggest for her as for treasure: ⁵ then shalt thou vnderstande the feare of the Lord, & fynde the knowlege of God.

¹ O my sonne, forget not my law but se that thyne hert kepe my commaundementes.

⁴ he taughte me also, saiyng: Let thyne herte receaue my wordes, kepe my commaundementes, and thou shalt lyue. ⁵ Get the wysdome, get the vnderstanding forget not the wordes of my mouth, & shrinke not from them. ⁶ Forsake her not, she shall preserue the: loue her, and she shal kepe the. ⁷ The chyefe poynte of wisdom is, that thou be willing to optayne wysdome, and before all thy goodes to gett the vnderstandynge. ⁸ Make muche of her and she shall promote the: Yea if thou embrace her, she shall brynge the vnto honoure.

¹ O my sonne, geue hede vnto my wysdome, and bow thyne eare vnto my prudence: ² that thou mayest regarde good councel, and that thy lyppes may kepe nourtoure.

³³ O geue eare vnto nurtour, be wyse, and refuse it not. ³⁴ Blessed is the man that heareth me, watchynge dayly at my gates, & geuynge attendaunce at the postes of my dores.

¹² Applie thine herte vnto learning, and thine eare to the words of knowledge.

²⁵ I aplied my minde also vnto knowledg, and to seke out science wysdome and vnderstandynge: to know the foolishnesse of the vngodly, and the erroure of dotynge fooles.

⁹ All these thynges haue I consydered, and applyed my mynde vnto euerye worcke that is vnder the Sonne: howe one man hath lordshyppe vpon another to hys owne harme.

¹⁶ When I applied my mind to learne wysdome, and to knowe the trauail that is in the worlde (and that of such a fashion, that I suffred not myne eyes to slepe nether daye ner nyghte)

³ Encline youre eares, & come vnto me, take hede, & your soule shall lyue. For I wyll make an euerlastynge couenaunt wyth you, euen the sure mercyes of Dauid.

⁵ Whyle he yet speake, beholde a bryght cloude shadowed theim. And beholde there came a voyce out of the cloude, sayinge: this is my deare sonne, in whome I delite heare hym.
