Let my cry come to you. ² Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn your ear to me. Answer me quickly in the day when I call. ³ For my days consume away like smoke. My bones are burned like a hearth. ⁴ My heart is blighted like grass, and withered, for I forget to eat my bread. ⁵ By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones stick to my skin. ⁶ I am like a pelican of the wilderness. I have become as an owl of the waste places. ⁷ I watch, and have become like a sparrow that is alone on the housetop. ⁸ My enemies reproach me all day. Those who are mad at me use my name as a curse. ⁹ For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mixed my drink with tears, ¹⁰ Because of your indignation and your wrath, for you have taken me up, and thrown me away. ¹¹ My days are like a long shadow. I have withered like grass. ¹² But you, LORD, will abide forever; your renown endures to all generations. ¹³ You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for it is time to have pity on her. Yes, the set time has come. ¹⁴ For your servants take pleasure in her stones, and have pity on her dust. ¹⁵ So the nations will fear the name of the LORD; all the kings of the earth your glory. ¹⁶ For the LORD has built up Zion. He has appeared in his glory. ¹⁷ He has responded to the prayer of the destitute, and has not despised their prayer. ¹⁸ This will be written for the generation to come, that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD. ¹⁹ For he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary. From heaven, the LORD looked at the earth; ²⁰ to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death; ²¹ that men may declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem; ²² when the peoples are gathered together, the kingdoms, to serve the LORD. ²³ He weakened my strength along the course. He shortened my days. ²⁴ I said, "My God, do not take me away in the midst of my days. Your years are throughout all generations. ²⁵ In the beginning, LORD, you established the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands. ²⁶ They will perish, but you remain; and they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a cloak, and they will be changed. ²⁷ But you are the same. Your years will have no end. ²⁸ The children of your servants will continue, and their descendants will be established before you."

²³ It happened in the course of those many days, that the king of Egypt died, and the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.

¹⁶ They put away the foreign gods from among them, and served the LORD; and his soul was grieved with the misery of Israel.

¹⁵ And Hannah answered, "No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I poured out my soul before the LORD. ¹⁶ Do not count your handmaid as a worthless woman; for I have been speaking out of the abundance of my distress and my anguish."

¹⁶ "Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over my people Israel; and he shall save my people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have seen the suffering of my people, because their cry has come to me."

²⁷ Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy habitation, even to heaven.

² Give attention to the voice of my cry, my King and my God; for to you do I pray.

⁵ "Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD; "I will place in safety the one who longs for it."

⁶ In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried out to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry before him came into his ears.

¹² "Hear my prayer, LORD, and give ear to my cry. Do not be silent at my tears. For I am a stranger with you, a foreigner, as all my fathers were.

⁴ These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, how I used to go in the tent of the Majestic One, to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping a holy day.

I am restless in my complaint, and moan, ³ Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked. For they bring suffering on me. In anger they hold a grudge against me. ⁴ My heart is severely pained within me. The terrors of death have fallen on me. ⁵ Fearfulness and trembling have come on me. Horror has overwhelmed me.

Yes, in the shadow of your wings, I will take refuge, until disaster has passed. ² I cry out to God Most High, to God who accomplishes my requests for me. ³ He will send from heaven, and save me, he rebukes the one who is pursuing me. Selah. God will send out his loving kindness and his truth.

² From the most remote place of the earth, I will call to you, when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

⁸ Trust in him at all times, O people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.

³ I remember God, and I groan. I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed. Selah.

¹ [A Song of Ascents.] Out of the depths I have cried to you, LORD. ² Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions.

² I pour out my complaint before him. I tell him my troubles. ³ When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, you knew my path. In the way in which I walk, they have hidden a snare for me.

⁴ Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me. My heart within me is desolate.

⁷ Hurry to answer me, LORD. My spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me, so that I do not become like those who go down into the pit.

¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

⁸ Yes, when I cry, and call for help, he shuts out my prayer.

¹⁸ And I said, "My strength and my hope has perished from the LORD." ¹⁹ Remember my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall. ²⁰ My soul considers them, and is depressed.

⁴⁴ You have covered yourself with a cloud, so that no prayer can pass through.

³³ He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed. ³⁴ He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch."

⁴⁴ Being in agony he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.

⁷ In the days of his flesh, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.

²¹ Why do you not pardon my disobedience, and take away my iniquity? For now shall I lie down in the dust. You will seek me diligently, but I shall not be."

²⁹ When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? Alike whether to a nation, or to a man,

² Bow down your ear to me. Deliver me speedily. Be to me a strong rock, a house of defense to save me.

I am like a man who has no help, ⁵ set apart among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more. They are cut off from your hand. ⁶ You have laid me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths. ⁷ Your wrath lies heavily on me. You have afflicted me with all your waves. Selah. ⁸ You have taken my friends from me. You have made me an abomination to them. I am confined, and I can't escape. ⁹ My eyes are dim from grief. I have called on you daily, LORD. In the morning, my prayer comes before you. ¹⁴ LORD, why do you reject my soul? Why do you hide your face from me? ¹⁵ I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up. While I suffer your terrors, I am distracted. ¹⁶ Your fierce wrath has gone over me. Your terrors have cut me off. ¹⁷ They came around me like water all day long. They completely engulfed me. ¹⁸ You have put lover and friend far from me, and my friends into darkness.

²⁹ You hide your face: they are troubled; you take away their breath: they die, and return to the dust.

¹⁷ I will wait for the LORD, who hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will trust in him.

² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and the flame will not scorch you.

²⁴ It shall happen that, before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

⁵ Peter therefore was kept in the prison, but constant prayer was made by the church to God for him. ⁶ The same night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains. Guards in front of the door kept the prison. ⁷ And look, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side, and woke him up, saying, "Stand up quickly." His chains fell off from his hands. ⁸ The angel said to him, "Get dressed and put on your sandals." He did so. He said to him, "Put on your cloak, and follow me." ⁹ And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he saw a vision. ¹⁰ When they were past the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened to them by itself. They went out, and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him. ¹¹ When Peter had come to himself, he said, "Now I truly know that the Lord has sent out his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from everything the Jewish people were expecting." ¹² Thinking about that, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying. ¹³ And when Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer. ¹⁴ When she recognized Peter's voice, she did not open the gate for joy, but ran in, and reported that Peter was standing in front of the gate. ¹⁵ They said to her, "You are crazy." But she insisted that it was so. They said, "It is his angel." ¹⁶ But Peter continued knocking. When they had opened, they saw him, and were amazed. ¹⁷ But he, beckoning to them with his hand to be silent, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said, "Tell these things to James, and to the brothers." Then he departed, and went to another place. ¹⁸ Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers about what had become of Peter. ¹⁹ When Herod had sought for him, and did not find him, he examined the guards, and commanded that they should be put to death. He went down from Judea to Caesarea, and stayed there. ²⁰ Now Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. They came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus, the king's personal aide, their friend, they asked for peace, because their country depended on the king's country for food. ²¹ On an appointed day, Herod dressed himself in royal clothing, and sat on the throne, and gave a speech to them. ²² But the crowd shouted, "The voice of a god, and not of a man." ²³ Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died. ²⁴ But the word of God grew and multiplied. ²⁵ Barnabas and Saul returned to Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their service, also taking with them John whose surname was Mark.

¹³ No temptation has taken you except what is common to humanity. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

³⁰ My skin grows black and peels from me. My bones are burned with heat.

¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax; it is melted within me. ¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; and you have brought me into the dust of death.

¹⁰ For my life is spent with sorrow, my years with sighing. My strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones waste away.

²⁰ But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of the LORD shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish—vanish like smoke.

³ There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation, neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin.

⁸³ For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke. I do not forget your statutes.

¹³ From on high he has sent fire into my bones, and it overcame them. He has spread a net for my feet, he has turned me back. He has made me desolate and faint all the day.

⁴ My flesh and my skin he has made old; he has broken my bones.

¹⁴ Whereas you do not know what tomorrow will be like. What is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

⁷ As he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she taunted her; therefore she wept, and did not eat. ⁸ Elkanah her husband said to her, "Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? Why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?"

¹⁷ And the elders of his house approached him to lift him up from the ground, but he was unwilling, and he would not eat food with them.

⁶ Then Ezra rose up from before God's house, and went into the room of Jehohanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came there, he ate no bread, nor drank water; for he mourned because of their trespass of the captivity.

⁴ For the arrows of Shaddai are within me. My spirit drinks up their poison. The terrors of God set themselves in array against me.

¹ "My soul is weary of my life. I will give free course to my complaint. I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

²⁰ So that his life abhors bread, and his soul choicest food.

² Be gracious to me, LORD, for I am frail. LORD, heal me, for my bones are trembling. ³ And my soul is greatly troubled. But you, LORD, how long?

² For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb.

⁶ My soul is in despair within me. Therefore I remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon, from the hill Mizar.

²⁰ Insults have broken my heart, so that I am in despair. I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; for comforters, but I found none.

⁹ For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mixed my drink with tears,

¹¹ My days are like a long shadow. I have withered like grass.

³ For the enemy pursues my soul. He has struck my life down to the ground. He has made me live in dark places, as those who have been long dead. ⁴ Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me. My heart within me is desolate.

⁷ The grass withers, the flower fades, because the LORD's breath blows on it. Surely the people are like grass.

¹³ He has caused the arrows of his quiver to pierce my inward parts.

²⁰ My soul considers them, and is depressed.

³⁷ He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled. ³⁸ Then he said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch with me."

⁹ He was without sight for three days, and neither ate nor drank.

²⁰ My bones stick to my skin and to my flesh. I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.

⁶ I am weary with my groaning. Every night I drench my bed; I melt my couch with my tears.

⁸ Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping.

³ When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. ⁴ For day and night your hand was heavy on me to my destruction in the heat of summer. Selah.

⁸ I am faint and severely bruised. I have groaned by reason of the anguish of my heart. ⁹ Lord, all my desire is before you. My groaning is not hidden from you. ¹⁰ My heart throbs. My strength fails me. As for the light of my eyes, it has also left me.

²² A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

⁸ They appear darker than soot; they are not known in the streets. Their skin cleaves to their bones; it is withered and has become as dry as a stick.

²⁹ I am a brother to jackals, and a companion to ostriches. ³⁰ My skin grows black and peels from me. My bones are burned with heat.

¹¹ But the pelican and the porcupine will possess it. The owl and the raven will dwell in it. He will stretch the line of confusion over it, and the plumb line of emptiness. ¹² They shall call its nobles to the kingdom, but none shall be there; and all its princes shall be nothing. ¹³ Thorns will come up in its palaces, nettles and thistles in its fortresses; and it will be a habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches. ¹⁴ And the wildcats will meet with the hyenas, and the wild goat will cry to his fellow. There too, nocturnal animals shall settle, and shall find themselves a place of rest. ¹⁵ The owl will make her nest there, and lay, hatch, and gather under her shade. Yes, the vultures will be gathered there, every one with her mate.

¹⁴ I chip like a swallow or a thrush. I moan like a dove. My eyes weaken looking upward.LORD, I am oppressed. Be my security.”

⁸ For this I will lament and wail; I will go stripped and naked; I will howl like the jackals, and moan like the daughters of owls.

¹⁴ Herds will lie down in the midst of her, all the animals of the nations. Both the pelican and the porcupine will lodge in its capitals. Their calls will echo through the windows. Desolation will be in the thresholds, for he has laid bare the cedar beams.

² He shouted with a mighty voice, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean bird, and a prison of every unclean and detestable beast.

⁶⁶ and your life shall hang in doubt before you; and you shall fear night and day, and shall have no assurance of your life. ⁶⁷ In the morning you shall say, "I wish it were evening." and at evening you shall say, "I wish it were morning." for the fear of your heart which you shall fear, and for the sight of your eyes which you shall see.

¹³ When I say, 'My bed shall comfort me. My couch shall ease my complaint;' ¹⁴ then you scare me with dreams, and terrify me through visions: ¹⁵ so that my soul chooses strangling, death rather than my bones. ¹⁶ I loathe my life. I do not want to live forever. Leave me alone, for my days are but a breath.

² My God, I cry in the daytime, but you do not answer; in the night season, and am not silent.

¹¹ My loved ones and my friends keep their distance because of my affliction. My kinsmen stand far away.

⁴ You hold my eyelids open. I am so troubled that I can't speak.

⁶ My soul longs for the Lord more than watchmen long for the morning; more than watchmen for the morning.

²⁸ Let him sit alone and keep silence when he is disciplining him. ²⁹ Let him put his mouth to the dust, there may yet be hope. ³⁰ Let him give his cheek to him who strikes him; let him be filled with insults.

³³ He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed. ³⁴ He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch." ³⁵ He went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him. ³⁶ He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire." ³⁷ He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour?

¹ Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot in vain?

¹¹ Because of all my adversaries I have become utterly contemptible to my neighbors, A fear to my acquaintances. Those who saw me on the street fled from me. ¹² I am forgotten from their hearts like a dead man. I am like broken pottery. ¹³ For I have heard the slander of many, terror on every side, while they conspire together against me, they plot to take away my life.

³ Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked. For they bring suffering on me. In anger they hold a grudge against me.

⁹ For the zeal of your house consumes me. The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me. ¹⁰ When I wept and I fasted, it brought me insults.

⁵¹ how your enemies have ridiculed, LORD, how they have ridiculed the footsteps of your anointed one.

¹⁵ You shall leave your name for a curse to my chosen; and the Lord GOD will kill you; and he will call his servants by another name:

²² and of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captives of Judah who are in Babylon, saying, "The LORD make you like Zedekiah and like Ahiab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire";

¹¹ But they were filled with rage, and talked with one another about what they might do to Jesus.

⁵⁴ Now when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.

¹² When it was day, the Jews formed a conspiracy, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul. ¹³ There were more than forty people who had made this conspiracy. ¹⁴ They came to the chief priests and the elders, and said, "We have bound ourselves under a great curse, to taste nothing until we have killed Paul. ¹⁵ Now therefore, you with the council inform the commanding officer that he should bring him down to you, as though you were going to judge his case more exactly. We are ready to kill him before he comes near." ¹⁶ But Paul's sister's son heard of their lying in wait, and he came and entered into the barracks and told Paul. ¹⁷ Paul summoned one of the centurions, and said, "Bring this young man to the commanding officer, for he has something to tell him." ¹⁸ So he took him, and brought him to the commanding officer, and said, "Paul, the prisoner, summoned me and asked me to bring this young man to you, who has something to tell you." ¹⁹ The commanding officer took him by the hand, and going aside, asked him privately, "What is it that you have to tell me?" ²⁰ And he said, "The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though they intended to inquire somewhat more thoroughly concerning him. ²¹ Therefore do not yield to them, for more than forty men lie in wait for him, who have bound themselves under a curse neither to eat nor to drink until they have killed him. Now they are ready, looking for the promise from you." ²² So the commanding officer let the young man go, charging him, "Tell no one that you have revealed these things to me." ²³ He called to himself two of the centurions, and said, "Prepare two hundred soldiers to go as far as Caesarea, with seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen, at nine tonight." ²⁴ He asked them to provide animals, that they might set Paul on one, and bring him safely to Felix the governor. ²⁵ He wrote a letter like this: ²⁶ "Claudius Lysias to the most excellent governor Felix: Greetings. ²⁷ "This man was seized by the Jews, and was about to be killed by them, when I came with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman. ²⁸ Desiring to know the cause why they accused him, I brought him down to their council. ²⁹ I found him to be accused about questions of their law, but not to be charged with anything worthy of death or of imprisonment. ³⁰ When I was told that there would be a plot against the man, I sent him to you immediately, charging his accusers also to bring their accusations against him before you. Farewell." ³¹ So the soldiers, carrying out their orders, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris. ³² But on the next day they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the barracks. ³³ When they came to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they also presented Paul to him. ³⁴ When the governor had read it, he asked what province he was from. When he understood that he was from Cilicia, he said, ³⁵ "I will hear you fully when your accusers also arrive." He commanded that he be kept in Herod's palace.

¹¹ Punishing them often in all the synagogues, I tried to make them blaspheme. Being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

³ For even Christ did not please himself. But, as it is written, "The insults of those who insult you fell on me."

²⁴ For my sighing comes before I eat. My groanings are poured out like water.

³ My tears have been my food day and night, while they continually ask me, "Where is your God?"

²¹ They also gave me gall for my food. In my thirst, they gave me vinegar to drink.

⁵ You have fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure.

²⁰ He feeds on ashes. A deceived heart has turned him aside; and he can't deliver his soul, nor say, "Isn't there a lie in my right hand?"

¹⁵ He has filled me with bitterness, he has given me in full measure wormwood. ¹⁶ He has also broken my teeth with gravel; he has pressed me down in the dust.

⁴⁸ Streams of tears run down from my eyes because of the destruction of the daughter of my people. ⁴⁹ My tears flow and do not cease, without respite,

¹⁰ Do not tell it in Gath. Do not weep at all. At Beth Leaphrah I have rolled myself in the dust.

¹⁷ They will lick the dust like a serpent. Like crawling creatures of the earth they shall come trembling out of their dens. They will come with fear to the LORD our God, and will be afraid because of you.

⁷ The LORD makes poor, and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up. ⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill, To make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's. He has set the world on them.

⁸ But if you will go, take action, be strong for the battle. God will overthrow you before the enemy; for God has power to help, and to overthrow."

⁶ As for me, I said in my prosperity, "I shall never be moved." ⁷ You, LORD, when you favored me, made my mountain stand strong; but when you hid your face, I was troubled.

¹⁸ Yes, I confess my iniquity. I am anxious because of my sin.

¹¹ When you rebuke and correct man for iniquity, You consume his wealth like a moth. Surely every man is but a breath." Selah.

¹⁸ Surely you set them in slippery places. You throw them down to destruction. ¹⁹ How they are suddenly destroyed. They are completely swept away with terrors. ²⁰ As a dream when one wakes up, so, Lord, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.

⁷ For we are consumed in your anger. We are troubled in your wrath. ⁸ You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. ⁹ For all our days have passed away in your wrath. We bring our years to an end as a sigh.

⁶ The LORD upholds the humble. He brings the wicked down to the ground.

¹⁸ The LORD is righteous, for I have rebelled against his commandment. Please listen all you people, and see my suffering. My virgins and my young men have gone into captivity.

³⁹ Why does a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins? ⁴⁰ Let us examine and search our ways, and return to the LORD. ⁴¹ Let us lift up our heart with our hands to God in the heavens. ⁴² We have transgressed and have rebelled, and you have not forgiven.

¹⁶ The crown is fallen from our head; woe to us, for we have sinned.

⁸ LORD, to us belongs open shame, to our kings, to our leaders, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you. ⁹ To the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him. ¹⁰ And have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. ¹¹ Yes, all Israel has transgressed your law, and turned away, refusing to obey your voice. Therefore has the curse been poured out on us, and the oath that is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, for we have sinned against you. ¹² He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our rulers who ruled us, by bringing on us a great calamity; for under the whole heaven such has not been done as has been done on Jerusalem. ¹³ As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this calamity has come on us. Yet have we not tried to gain the favor of the LORD our God, that we should turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in your truth. ¹⁴ Therefore has the LORD watched over the calamity, and brought it on us, for the LORD our God is just in all he has done, and we have not obeyed his voice.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.

⁹ pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed;

² He comes forth like a flower, and is cut down. He also flees like a shadow, and doesn't continue.

⁵ Look, you have made my days handbreadths. My lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely every man stands as a breath." Selah. ⁶ "Surely a person goes about like a shadow. Surely he heaps up vain things of wealth, and doesn't know who shall gather them.

³ For my days consume away like smoke. My bones are burned like a hearth. ⁴ My heart is blighted like grass, and withered, for I forget to eat my bread.

²³ I fade away like an evening shadow. I am shaken off like a locust.

⁴ Man is like a breath. His days are like a shadow that passes away.

¹² For who knows what is good for man in life, all the days of his vain life which he spends like a shadow? For who can tell a man what will be after him under the sun?

⁶ The voice of one saying, "Cry." And I said, "What shall I cry?" "All flesh is like grass, and all its glory is like the flower of the field. ⁷ The grass withers, the flower fades, because the LORD's breath blows on it. Surely the people are like grass. ⁸ The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of the LORD stands forever."

¹⁰ and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.

²⁴ For, "All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls;

¹⁵ And God said moreover to Moses, "You shall tell the children of Israel this, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, and this is how I am to be remembered from generation to generation.

²⁷ The God of old is a dwelling place. Underneath are the everlasting arms. He thrust out the enemy from before you, and said, 'Destroy.'

⁷ But the LORD reigns forever. He has prepared his throne for judgment.

¹ [A Prayer by Moses, the man of God.] Lord, you have been our dwelling place for all generations. ² Before the mountains were brought forth, before you had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.

²⁴ I said, "My God, do not take me away in the midst of my days. Your years are throughout all generations. ²⁵ In the beginning, LORD, you established the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands. ²⁶ They will perish, but you remain; and they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a cloak, and they will be changed. ²⁷ But you are the same. Your years will have no end.

¹³ Your name, LORD, endures forever; your renown, LORD, throughout all generations.

⁶ This is what the LORD, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts, says: "I am the first, and I am the last; and besides me there is no God.

¹⁵ "Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, so that no man passed through you, I will make you an everlasting excellency, a joy of many generations.

¹⁹ But you, LORD, abide forever; your throne is from generation to generation.

⁸ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

¹⁷ When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last, ¹⁸ and the Living one. I was dead, but look, I am alive forevermore. I have the keys of Death and of hell.

¹ Now in the first year of Koresh king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Koresh king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, ² "Thus says Koresh king of Persia, 'The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. ³ Whoever there is among you of all his people, may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD, the God of Israel (he is God), which is in Jerusalem. ⁴ Whoever is left, in any place where he lives, let the men of his place help him with silver, with gold, with goods, and with animals, besides the freewill offering for God's house which is in Jerusalem.'" ⁵ Then the heads of ancestral houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred to go up rose up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem. ⁶ All those who were around them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with animals, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered. ⁷ Also Koresh the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought out of Jerusalem, and had put in the house of his gods; ⁸ even those, Koresh king of Persia brought out by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them to Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah. ⁹ This is the number of them: thirty platters of gold, one thousand platters of silver, twenty-nine knives, ¹⁰ thirty bowls of gold, silver bowls of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels one thousand. ¹¹ All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. Sheshbazzar brought all these up, when the captives were brought up from Babylon to Jerusalem.

⁶ Arise, LORD, in your anger. Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries. Awake, my God; you have appointed judgment.

²⁶ Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness' sake.

¹⁸ Do well in your good pleasure to Zion. Build the walls of Jerusalem.

³⁵ For God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah. They shall settle there, and own it. ³⁶ The children also of his servants shall inherit it. Those who love his name shall dwell in it.

² When I choose the appointed time, I will judge blamelessly.

³² What will they say to the kings of the nation? That the LORD has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people will take refuge.

² "Speak tenderly to Jerusalem; and call out to her that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received of the LORD's hand double for all her sins."

¹ "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.

¹⁰ "Foreigners shall build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to you: for in my wrath I struck you, but in my favor have I had mercy on you. ¹¹ Your gates also shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring to you the wealth of the nations, and their kings led captive. ¹² For that nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; yes, those nations shall be utterly wasted. ¹³ "The glory of Lebanon shall come to you, the fir tree, the pine, and the box tree together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious. ¹⁴ The sons of those who afflicted you shall come bending to you; and all those who despised you shall bow themselves down at the soles of your feet; and they shall call you The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, you nations, and declare it in the islands afar off; and say, "He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as shepherd does his flock." ¹¹ For the LORD has ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of him who was stronger than he. ¹² They shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and they shall be radient over the goodness of the LORD, to the grain, and to the new wine, and to the oil, and to the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Yet again shall they use this speech in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I shall bring again their captivity: 'The LORD bless you, habitation of righteousness, mountain of holiness.'

For we do not present our petitions before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercy. ¹⁹ Lord, hear. Lord, forgive. Lord, listen and take action. Do not delay, for your own sake, my God, because your city and your people are called by your name." ²⁰ While I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my petition before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God, ²¹ while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, came to me in my weariness about the time of the evening sacrifice. ²² He instructed me, and talked with me, and said, "Daniel, I have now come forth to give you wisdom and understanding. ²³ At the beginning of your petitions the commandment went forth, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision. ²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to put an end to the transgression, and to make an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem until the time of the Messiah, the Prince, there shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks. It shall be built again, with open spaces and a moat, but in times of distress. ²⁶ After the sixty-two weeks the Messiah shall be cut off, and shall have nothing. And the people of a ruler who shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and his end shall come with a flood, and until the end there shall be war; desolations are decreed. ²⁷ He shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who destroys, and even until a complete destruction, until the decreed end is poured out on the one who destroys."

⁹ And he said, "Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end.

¹² Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred thirty-five days. ¹³ But go your way until the end. For you shall rest, and shall rise to receive your reward at the end of the days.

¹² Then the angel of the LORD replied, "O LORD of hosts, how long will you not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which you have had indignation these seventy years?" ¹³ The LORD answered the angel who talked with me with kind and comforting words.

¹⁰ Sing and rejoice, daughter of Zion; for, look, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you,' says the LORD. ¹¹ Many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people; and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. ¹² The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.

⁷ He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority.

⁴ But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,

⁸ But do not forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

¹² looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?

¹⁵ The seventh angel sounded, and great voices in heaven followed, saying, "The kingdom of the world now belongs to our Lord and to his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever." ¹⁶ The twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones before God's throne, fell on their faces and worshiped God, ¹⁷ saying: "We give you thanks, Lord God of hosts, the one who is and who was; because you have taken your great power, and reigned. ¹⁸ The nations were angry, and your wrath came, as did the time for the dead to be judged, and to give your servants the prophets, their reward, as well as to the saints, and those who fear your name, to the small and the great; and to destroy those who destroy the earth."

⁵ Then the heads of ancestral houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred to go up rose up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.

¹ When the seventh month had come, and the children of Israel were in their cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem. ² Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak stood up with his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brothers, and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God. ³ In spite of their fear because of the peoples of the surrounding lands, they set the altar on its base; and they offered burnt offerings on it to the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and evening.

²⁷ Blessed be the LORD, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem;

³ They said to me, "The remnant who are left of the captivity there in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and its gates are burned with fire."

³ I said to the king, "Let the king live forever. Why shouldn't my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' tombs, lies waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?"

¹⁷ Then I said to them, "You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come, let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we won't be disgraced."

² And he spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria, and said, "What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they restore it for themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, which are burned?"

⁶ So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together to half its height: for the people had a mind to work.

¹⁰ Judah said, "The strength of the bearers of burdens is fading, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall."

¹ [A Psalm by Asaph.] God, the nations have come into your inheritance. They have defiled your holy temple. They have laid Jerusalem in heaps.

⁷ For they have devoured Jacob, and destroyed his homeland. ⁸ Do not hold the iniquities of our forefathers against us. Let your tender mercies speedily meet us, for we are in desperate need. ⁹ Help us, God of our salvation, for the glory of your name. Deliver us, and forgive our sins, for your name's sake. ¹⁰ Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Let it be known among the nations, before our eyes, that vengeance for your servants' blood is being poured out.

⁵ If I forget you, Jerusalem, let my right hand be forgotten. ⁶ Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you; if I do not prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy.

¹⁶ Lord, according to all your righteousness, let your anger and please let your wrath be turned away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people have become a reproach to all who are around us.

⁴³ then hear in heaven, your dwelling place, and do according to all that the foreigner calls to you for; that all the peoples of the earth may know your name, and fear you, as do your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by your name.

² That your way may be known on earth, and your salvation among all nations, ³ let the peoples praise you, God. Let all the peoples praise you. ⁴ Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you will judge the world in righteousness. You will judge the peoples with equity, and guide the nations on earth.

³¹ Envoys shall come out of Egypt. Ethiopia shall hurry to stretch out her hands to God. ³² Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth. Sing praises to the Lord. Selah.

¹¹ Yes, all kings shall fall down before him. All nations shall serve him.

⁹ All nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord. They shall glorify your name.

⁴ All the kings of the earth will give you thanks, LORD, for they have heard the words of your mouth.

⁵ Look, you shall call a nation that you do not know; and a nation that did not know you shall run to you, because of the LORD your God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he has glorified you."

²⁰ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come; ²¹ and the inhabitants of one shall go to another, saying, 'Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts. I will go also.' ²² Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of the LORD." ²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "In those days, ten men will take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, 'We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'"

¹⁵ The seventh angel sounded, and great voices in heaven followed, saying, "The kingdom of the world now belongs to our Lord and to his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever."

²⁴ The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring their splendor into it.

³⁵ For God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah. They shall settle there, and own it.

⁶ The heavens declare his righteousness. All the peoples have seen his glory.

² The LORD builds up Jerusalem. He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.

² It shall happen in the latter days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. ³ And many peoples shall come and say, "Come, let's go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths." For out of Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

²⁶ This is the plan that is determined for the whole earth. This is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations.

¹ "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. ² For, look, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise on you, and his glory shall be seen on you.

⁷ All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you; they shall come up with acceptance on my altar; and I will glorify the house of my glory.

³ to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.

¹⁸ "For I know their works and their thoughts. I am coming to gather all nations and languages; and they will come and see my glory.

⁴ Again will I build you, and you shall be built, O virgin of Israel: again you shall be adorned with your tambourines, and shall go forth in the dances of those who make merry.

⁷ I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

⁹ You drive the women of my people out from their pleasant houses; from their young children you take away my blessing forever.

⁶ Come. Come. Flee from the land of the north,' says the LORD; 'for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the sky,' says the LORD. ⁷ 'Come, Zion. Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.' ⁸ For thus says the LORD of hosts: 'For honor he has sent me to the nations which plundered you; for he who touches you touches the apple of my eye. ⁹ For, look, I will shake my hand over them, and they will be a spoil to those who served them; and you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me. ¹⁰ Sing and rejoice, daughter of Zion; for, look, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you,' says the LORD. ¹¹ Many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people; and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. ¹² The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem. ¹³ Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD; for he has roused himself from his holy habitation."

²⁹ But from there you shall seek the LORD your God, and you shall find him, when you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.

³⁶ For the LORD will judge his people, and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their strength is gone and there is none remaining, confined or set free.

⁶ Let your ear now be attentive, and your eyes open, that you may listen to the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you at this time, day and night, for the children of Israel your servants while I confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Yes, I and my father's house have sinned.

¹¹ Lord, I beg you, let your ear be attentive now to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants, who delight to fear your name; and please prosper your servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man." Now I was cup bearer to the king.

¹⁸ For the needy shall not always be forgotten; the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.

²⁴ For he has not despised or detested the affliction of the afflicted, nor has he hidden his face from him; but when he cried to him, he heard.

²³ Let their eyes be darkened, so that they can't see, and make their backs weak continually.

¹² For he will deliver the needy when he cries; the poor, who has no helper.

¹¹ For I know the plans that I have for you,' says the LORD, 'plans for your welfare, and not for calamity, to give you hope and a future. ¹² You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. ¹³ You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart. ¹⁴ I will be found by you,' says the LORD, 'and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places where I have driven you,' says the LORD; 'and I will bring you again to the place from where I caused you to be carried away captive.'

³ And I turned to the Lord God, to seek by prayer and petitions, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. ⁴ I prayed to the LORD my God, and made this confession, "O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant and loving kindness with those who love him and keep his commandments. ⁵ We have sinned, and have done what is wrong and wicked, and have rebelled, even turning aside from your commandments and from your ordinances. ⁶ Neither have we listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our leaders, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. ⁷ Lord, righteousness belongs to you, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near, and who are far off, through all the countries where you have driven them, because of their unfaithful deeds that they have committed against you. ⁸ LORD, to us belongs open shame, to our kings, to our leaders, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you. ⁹ To the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him. ¹⁰ And have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. ¹¹ Yes, all Israel has transgressed your law, and turned away, refusing to obey your voice. Therefore has the curse been poured out on us, and the oath that is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, for we have sinned against you. ¹² He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our rulers who ruled us, by bringing on us a great calamity; for under the whole heaven such has not been done as has been done on Jerusalem. ¹³ As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this calamity has come on us. Yet have we not tried to gain the favor of the LORD our God, that we should turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in your truth. ¹⁴ Therefore has the LORD watched over the calamity, and brought it on us, for the LORD our God is just in all he has done, and we have not obeyed his voice. ¹⁵ "And now, Lord our God, who has brought your people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and have made a name for yourself, even to this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly. ¹⁶ Lord, according to all your righteousness, let your anger and please let your wrath be turned away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people have become a reproach to all who are around us. ¹⁷ Now therefore, our God, listen to the prayer of your servant, and to his petitions, and cause your face to shine on your sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. ¹⁸ My God, turn your ear, and hear; open your eyes, and see our desolation, and the city which is called by your name. For we do not present our petitions before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercy. ¹⁹ Lord, hear. Lord, forgive. Lord, listen and take action. Do not delay, for your own sake, my God, because your city and your people are called by your name." ²⁰ While I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my petition before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God, ²¹ while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, came to me in my weariness about the time of the evening sacrifice.

¹⁴ The LORD said to Moses, "Write this for a memorial on a scroll, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky."

¹⁹ "Now therefore write the words of this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel. ²⁰ For when I shall have brought them into the land which I swore to their fathers, flowing with milk and honey, and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and grown fat; then will they turn to other gods, and serve them, and despise me, and break my covenant. ²¹ It shall happen, when many evils and troubles have come on them, that this song shall testify before them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their descendants: for I know their imagination which they frame this day, before I have brought them into the land which I swore." ²² So Moses wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel. ²³ He commissioned Joshua the son of Nun, and said, "Be strong and courageous; for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land which I swore to them: and I will be with you." ²⁴ It happened, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law on a scroll, until they were finished, ²⁵ that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying, ²⁶ "Take this book of the law, and put it by the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against you. ²⁷ For I know your rebellion, and your stiff neck: look, while I am yet alive with you this day, you have been rebellious against God; and how much more after my death? ²⁸ Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes, and your elders and your judges and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to witness against them. ²⁹ For I know that after my death you will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will happen to you in the latter days; because you will do that which is evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands." ³⁰ Moses spoke in the ears of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, until they were finished.

²³ "Oh that my words were now written. Oh that they were inscribed in a scroll. ²⁴ That with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever.

³⁰ Posterity shall serve him. Future generations shall be told about the Lord. ³¹ They shall come and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, for he has done it.

¹⁶ Your sons will take the place of your fathers. You shall make them princes in all the earth. ¹⁷ I will make your name to be remembered in all generations. Therefore the peoples shall give you thanks forever and ever.

¹³ Consider her defenses. Consider her palaces, that you may tell it to the next generation.

¹⁸ Yes, even when I am old and gray-haired, God, do not forsake me, until I have declared your strength to the next generation, your might to everyone who is to come.

⁴ We will not hide them from their descendants, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, his strength, and his wondrous works that he has done. ⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a teaching in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children; ⁶ that the generation to come might know it, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell their children,

⁷ everyone who is called by my name, and whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, yes, whom I have made.'"

²¹ the people which I formed for myself, that they might set forth my praise.

¹⁷ "For, look, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. ¹⁸ But be you glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for, look, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. ¹⁹ I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and there shall be heard in her no more the voice of weeping and the voice of crying.

² in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood from the books the number of the years about which the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, for the completion of the desolation of Jerusalem, seventy years.

³¹ but these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.

⁴ For whatever things were written before were written for our instruction, that through patience and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

¹¹ Now these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come.

¹⁷ Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Look, new things have come. ¹⁸ But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation;

¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.

¹⁶ All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, ¹⁷ that the person of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: ¹⁰ who once were not a people, but now are God's people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

¹⁵ Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure.

¹⁵ Look down from your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless your people Israel, and the ground which you have given us, as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey."

³⁹ then hear in heaven, your dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and render to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know; (for you, even you only, know the hearts of all the children of humankind;)

⁹ For the eyes of the LORD run back and forth throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein you have done foolishly; for from now on you shall have wars."

¹² "Isn't God in the heights of heaven? See the height of the stars, how high they are.

² The LORD looks down from heaven on the descendants of Adam, to see if there are any who are wise, who seek after God.

¹³ The LORD looks from heaven. He sees all the descendants of Adam. ¹⁴ From the place of his habitation he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth,

¹ Now in the things which we are saying, the main point is this. We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, ² a servant of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord set up, and not man.

²³ It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. ²⁴ For Christ hasn't entered into holy places made with hands, which are representations of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;

²³ It happened in the course of those many days, that the king of Egypt died, and the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to God because of the bondage. ²⁴ God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. ²⁵ God saw the children of Israel, and God took notice.

⁷ The LORD said, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.

⁴ Jehoahaz begged the LORD, and the LORD listened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how that the king of Aram oppressed them.

²² Hazael king of Aram oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz. ²³ But the LORD was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and had respect to them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.

¹¹ Therefore the LORD brought on them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh in chains, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. ¹² When he was in distress, he begged the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. ¹³ He prayed to him; and he was entreated by him, and heard his petition, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God.

¹² From out of the populous city, men groan. The soul of the wounded cries out, yet God doesn't regard the folly.

¹¹ Let the sighing of the prisoner come before you. According to the greatness of your power, free those who are sentenced to death.

⁷ who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners.

¹⁷ who made the world like a wilderness, and overthrew its cities; who did not release his prisoners to their home?"

¹ The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and an opening of the eyes to the blind; ² to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; ³ to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.

³² and the passages are seized, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are frightened. ³³ For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor at the time when it is trodden; yet a little while, and the time of harvest shall come for her. ³⁴ 'Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, he has made me an empty vessel, he has, like a monster, swallowed me up, he has filled his maw with my delicacies; he has cast me out. ³⁵ The violence done to me and to my flesh be on Babylon,' shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and, 'My blood be on the inhabitants of Chaldea,' shall Jerusalem say.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion. Shout, daughter of Jerusalem. Look, your king comes to you. He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. ¹⁰ I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow will be cut off; and he will speak peace to the nations: and his dominion will be from sea to sea, and from the River to the farthest parts of the earth. ¹¹ As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I have set free your prisoners from the pit in which is no water. ¹² Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.

⁶ The same night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains. Guards in front of the door kept the prison. ⁷ And look, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side, and woke him up, saying, "Stand up quickly." His chains fell off from his hands. ⁸ The angel said to him, "Get dressed and put on your sandals." He did so. He said to him, "Put on your cloak, and follow me." ⁹ And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he saw a vision. ¹⁰ When they were past the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened to them by itself. They went out, and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him. ¹¹ When Peter had come to himself, he said, "Now I truly know that the Lord has sent out his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from everything the Jewish people were expecting."

² in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience; ³ among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

¹³ Have mercy on me, LORD. See my affliction by those who hate me. You lift me up from the gates of death, ¹⁴ so that I may tell all your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in your salvation.

²² I will declare your name to my brothers. In the midst of the assembly I will praise you.

¹⁴ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation. My tongue shall sing aloud of your righteousness. ¹⁵ Lord, open my lips. My mouth shall declare your praise.

¹³ So we, your people and sheep of your pasture, will give you thanks forever. We will praise you forever, to all generations.

¹¹ The ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy shall be on their heads. They shall obtain gladness and joy. Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), ⁶ and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus;

²¹ to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

¹⁰ The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the rulerʼs staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. And it is he whom the peoples will obey.

²⁷ Every part of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.

⁸ He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, from the River to the farthest parts of the earth. ⁹ Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him. His enemies shall lick the dust. ¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the islands will bring tribute. The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. ¹¹ Yes, all kings shall fall down before him. All nations shall serve him.

²² Thus says the LORD, "Look, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and set up my banner to the peoples; and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders. ²³ Kings shall be your nursing fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers: they shall bow down to you with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of your feet; and you shall know that I am the LORD; and those who wait for me shall not be disappointed."

⁹ He said, "Call his name 'Not My People,' for you are x91Not my Peopleʼ and I am 'Not your I AM.' ¹⁰ Yet the number of the children of Israel will be as the sand of the sea, which can't be measured nor numbered; and it will come to pass that, in the place where it was said to them, "You are 'Not My People,'" they will be called "Children of the Living God." ¹¹ The people of Judah and the children of Israel will be gathered together, and they will appoint themselves one head, and will go up from the land; for great will be the day of Jezreel.

¹⁴ This Good News of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

¹⁹ in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and around as far as to Illyricum, I have fully preached the Good News of Christ;

²¹ For what does he care for his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?

³⁸ But you have rejected and spurned. You have been angry with your anointed. ³⁹ You have renounced the covenant of your servant. You have defiled his crown in the dust. ⁴⁰ You have broken down all his hedges. You have brought his strongholds to ruin. ⁴¹ All who pass by the way rob him. He has become an object of ridicule to his neighbors. ⁴² You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries. You have made all of his enemies rejoice. ⁴³ Yes, you turn back the edge of his sword, and haven't supported him in battle. ⁴⁴ You have ended his splendor, and thrown his throne down to the ground. ⁴⁵ You have shortened the days of his youth. You have covered him with shame. Selah. ⁴⁶ How long, LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? Will your wrath burn like fire? ⁴⁷ Remember how short my time is. Have you created the descendants of Adam for no reason?

³ Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, ⁴ he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits in the temple of God, setting himself up as God. ⁵ Do you not remember that, when I was still with you, I told you these things? ⁶ Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season. ⁷ For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way. ⁸ Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the manifestation of his coming; ⁹ even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with all deception of wickedness for those who are perishing, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God sends them a strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, ¹² in order that all might be judged who did not believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

¹ But the Spirit says expressly that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons, ² through the hypocrisy of liars, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron; ³ forbidding marriage and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

¹ But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come. ² For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³ unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, hateful of good, ⁴ traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; ⁵ holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof. Turn away from these, also. ⁶ For among them are those who crawl into households and take captive weak-willed women weighed down with sins, led away by various passions and pleasures, ⁷ always learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. ⁸ Even as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these also oppose the truth; people corrupted in mind, disapproved concerning the faith. ⁹ But they will proceed no further. For their folly will be evident to all, as theirs also was. ¹⁰ But you did follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, steadfastness, ¹¹ persecutions, and sufferings: those things that happened to me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I endured those persecutions. Out of them all the Lord delivered me. ¹² Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. ¹³ But evil people and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. ¹⁴ But you remain in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them. ¹⁵ From infancy, you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus.

² Leave out the court which is outside of the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations. They will tread the holy city under foot for forty-two months. ³ I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred sixty days, clothed in sackcloth." ⁴ These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands, standing before the Lord of the earth. ⁵ If anyone desires to harm them, fire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies. If anyone desires to harm them, he must be killed in this way. ⁶ These have the power to shut up the sky, that it may not rain during the days of their prophecy. They have power over the waters, to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire. ⁷ When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them, and kill them. ⁸ Their dead bodies will be in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. ⁹ From among the peoples, tribes, languages, and nations people will look at their dead bodies for three and a half days, and will not allow their dead bodies to be placed in a tomb. ¹⁰ Those who dwell on the earth rejoice over them, and they will be glad. They will give gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth. ¹¹ After the three and a half days, the breath of life from God entered into them, and they stood on their feet. Great fear fell on those who saw them. ¹² I heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." They went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies saw them. ¹³ In that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified, and gave glory to the God of heaven. ¹⁴ The second woe is past. Look, the third woe comes quickly. ¹⁵ The seventh angel sounded, and great voices in heaven followed, saying, "The kingdom of the world now belongs to our Lord and to his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever." ¹⁶ The twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones before God's throne, fell on their faces and worshiped God, ¹⁷ saying: "We give you thanks, Lord God of hosts, the one who is and who was; because you have taken your great power, and reigned. ¹⁸ The nations were angry, and your wrath came, as did the time for the dead to be judged, and to give your servants the prophets, their reward, as well as to the saints, and those who fear your name, to the small and the great; and to destroy those who destroy the earth." ¹⁹ God's temple that is in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen in his temple. Lightnings, sounds, thunders, an earthquake, and great hail followed.

¹³ When the serpent saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child. ¹⁴ Two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, so that she might be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. ¹⁵ The serpent spewed water out of his mouth after the woman like a river, that he might cause her to be carried away by the stream. ¹⁶ The earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the river which the serpent spewed out of his mouth. ¹⁷ The serpent grew angry with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

²⁶ Look, God is great, and we do not know him. The number of his years is unsearchable.

¹³ Oh spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go away, and exist no more."

¹² But you, LORD, will abide forever; your renown endures to all generations.

¹⁰ I said, "In the middle of my life I go into the gates of Sheol. I am deprived of the residue of my years." ¹¹ I said, "I won't see the LORD in the land of the living. I will not look on humankind any longer with the inhabitants of the world. ¹² My dwelling is removed, and is carried away from me like a shepherd's tent. I have rolled up, like a weaver, my life. He will cut me off from the loom. From day even to night you will make an end of me. ¹³ I waited patiently until morning. He breaks all my bones like a lion. From day even to night you will make an end of me. ¹⁴ I chip like a swallow or a thrush. I moan like a dove. My eyes weaken looking upward.LORD, I am oppressed. Be my security.” ¹⁵ What will I say? He has both spoken to me, and himself has done it. I will walk carefully all my years because of the anguish of my soul. ¹⁶ Lord, men live by these things; and my spirit finds life in all of them: you restore me, and cause me to live. ¹⁷ Look, for peace I had great anguish, but you have in love for my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; for you have cast all my sins behind your back. ¹⁸ For Sheol can't praise you. And death can't celebrate you. And those who go down into the pit can't hope for your truth. ¹⁹ The living, the living, he shall praise you, as I do this day. The father shall make known your truth to the children. ²⁰ The LORD will save me. Therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD. ²¹ Now Isaiah had said, "Let them take a cake of figs, and lay it for a poultice on the boil, and he shall recover." ²² Hezekiah also had said, "What is the sign that I will go up to the house of the LORD?"

¹² Aren't you from everlasting, LORD my God, my Holy One? We will not die. LORD, you have appointed him for judgment. You, Rock, have established him to punish.

⁴ John, to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from him who is and who was and who is to come; and from the seven Spirits who are before his throne;

⁸ "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God of hosts, "who is and who was and who is to come."

¹ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

¹ Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their vast array.

¹¹ for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the seventh day, and made it holy.

⁴ "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if you have understanding. ⁵ Who determined its measures, if you know? Or who stretched the line on it? ⁶ Whereupon were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, ⁷ when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

⁵ For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.

²³ I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed. ²⁴ When there were no depths, I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. ²⁵ Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was brought forth; ²⁶ while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world. ²⁷ When he established the heavens, I was there; when he set a circle on the surface of the deep, ²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth; ³⁰ then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him, ³¹ Rejoicing in his whole world. My delight was with the sons of men. ³² "Now therefore, son, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways. ³³ Hear instruction, and be wise. Do not refuse it. ³⁴ Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts. ³⁵ For whoever finds me, finds life, and will obtain favor from the LORD. ³⁶ But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul. All those who hate me love death."

¹⁷ 'Ah, Lord GOD. Look, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm; there is nothing too difficult for you,

¹⁰ And, "In the beginning, Lord, you established the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands. ¹¹ They will perish, but you remain; and they will all wear out like a garment. ¹² As a cloak, you will roll them up, and like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will have no end."

³ For he has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, just as he who built the house has more honor than the house. ⁴ For every house is built by someone; but he who built all things is God.

¹⁴ And God said to Moses, "I AM THAT I AM," and he said, "You shall tell the children of Israel this: 'I AM has sent me to you.'"

⁴ And all the host of heaven will rot away, and the heavens will be rolled up like a scroll. And all their host will wither, as a leaf withering from the vine, and as leaves withering from the fig tree.

⁶ Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment; and those who dwell in it shall die in the same way: but my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

¹⁷ "For, look, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

²² "For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me," says the LORD, "so your descendants and your name shall remain.

³⁵ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

³³ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away.

²⁰ For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope

⁷ But the heavens that now are, and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly people. ⁸ But do not forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. ⁹ The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. ¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works on it will not be found. ¹¹ Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness, ¹² looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?

¹¹ I saw a great white throne, and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. There was found no place for them.

¹ I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more.

⁴ For a thousand years in your sight are just like yesterday when it is past, like a watch in the night.

⁶ "For I, the LORD, do not change; therefore you, sons of Jacob, are not consumed.

⁵⁸ Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM."

¹⁷ All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.

⁴ 'I will establish your offspring forever, and build up your throne for all generations.'" Selah.

¹⁶ Let your work appear to your servants; your glory to their children. ¹⁷ Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.

¹⁰ Yet the LORD was pleased to crush him and make him ill. Although his soul is made a reparation offering, he will see his offspring, he will prolong his days, and the desire of the LORD will succeed by his hand.

²⁰ "A Redeemer will come from Zion, and he will turn away transgression from Jacob," says the LORD. ²¹ "As for me, this is my covenant with them," says the LORD. "My Spirit who is on you, and my words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, nor out of the mouth of your children, nor out of the mouth of your children's children," says the LORD, "from now on and forever."

²² They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree shall be the days of my people, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
