The great horn was broken and instead of it there came up four notable horns toward the four winds of heaven. 9 A little horn cam out of one of them. The little horn became very great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the glorious land. 10 It grew great, even to the host of heaven. It threw down to the ground some of the host and it trampled them. 11 It magnified itself, even to the prince of the host. It took the continual burnt offering from him and the place of his sanctuary was thrown down. 12 The host was given over to it together with the continual burnt offering through transgression. It cast down truth to the ground, and whatever it wanted to do and prospered. 13 Then I heard a holy one speak and another holy one said to it: »How long will the vision be concerning the continual burnt-offering and the transgression that makes desolate to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled under foot?« 14 He said to me: »Two thousand and three hundred evenings and mornings. Then the sanctuary will be cleansed.«

2 Thessalonians 2:3-12

3 Do not let anyone deceive you about this in any way. That day will not come unless apostasy (a falling away from truth) takes place first, and the man of lawlessness (sin), the man of destruction, is revealed. (2 Timothy 4:3) 4 He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god and object of worship. As a result, he seats himself in the sanctuary of God and declares (promotes) himself to be like God. (Ezekiel 28:2) 5 Do you remember that I repeatedly told you about these things when I was still with you? 6 There is something that keeps this from happening now, and you know what it is. At the proper time, then, the wicked one will appear. 7 The secret of evil (lawlessness) is even now at work. But there is one who restrains the evil till he is taken out of the way. 8 Then the evil (lawless) one will be revealed. The Lord Jesus will put him to death with the breath of his mouth, and destroy him by the manifestation (brightness) (advent) (revelation) of his coming. (Greek: parousia: presence, return, being near) 9 The evil (lawless) one will come with the power of Satan and perform all kinds of false signs and wonders. 10 He will use every kind of wicked deceit on those who will perish. They will perish because they did not welcome and love the truth so as to be saved. 11 So God dispatches the power of deceit (error) to work in them so that they are allowed to believe what is false. 12 Then everyone who did not believe the truth, but was delighted with wickedness, will be condemned.

1 Timothy 4:1-3

1 The Spirit explicitly says that some will fall away from the faith (truth) in later times. Revelation 8:1-13

1 When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about a half an hour. 2 I saw the seven angels who stood before God. Seven trumpets were given to them. 3 Another angel, with a golden incense vessel, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense so he could offer it with the prayers of all the holy ones upon the golden altar before the throne. 4 The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the holy ones, ascended up, out of the angel's hand, before God. 5 The angel took the incense vessel, and filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it to the earth. There were voices, and thundering and lightning, and an earthquake. 6 The seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound them. 7 The first angel blew his trumpet. Hail and fire mixed with blood came down upon the earth. A third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up. 8 The second angel blew his trumpet. Something like a great mountain burning with fire was hurled into the sea. A third of the sea became blood. 9 A third of the living creatures in the sea died. And a third of the ships were destroyed. 10 The third angel blew his trumpet. A great star burning like a lamp fell from heaven. It fell upon a third of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters. 11 The star is called Wormwood (Calamity) (Bitterness): and a third of the waters became wormwood; and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter. 12 The fourth angel blew his trumpet. A third of the sun was struck. A third of the moon, and a third of the stars were darkened. The illumination of both day and night was cut by one third. 13 Then I saw and heard an angel flying in midheaven. He said with a loud voice: »Woe, woe, woe to those dwelling on earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!«
