¹⁶ And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love; and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

⁶⁹ And we believe and have come to know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

⁹ But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love him.

¹ Behold, how great is the love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God; and so we are. The world does not know us, because it did not know him.

¹⁶ By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

²⁴ And he who keeps his commandments abides in him, and he in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us.

⁸ He who does not love does not know God; for God is love. ⁹ In this was the love of God revealed among us, that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

¹² No man has seen God at any time, but if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is perfected in us. ¹³ By this we know that we abide in him, and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
