¹⁷ In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so we are in this world.

¹⁵ Truly I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.

²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he is like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household?

²² But I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

²⁴ But I say to you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.

³⁶ But I say to you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account of on the day of judgment.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.

²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

² Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ For consider him who endured such hostility from sinners against himself, lest you grow weary and fainthearted.

¹³ For he shall receive judgment without mercy, who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.

²² You see that faith was active with his works, and by works was faith made perfect;

¹⁶ Keeping a good conscience, so that when you are falsely accused, those who revile your good behaviour in Christ may be ashamed. ¹⁷ For it is better, if it is the will of God, that you suffer for doing right, than for doing evil. ¹⁸ For Christ died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit,

¹ Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same mind: for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin; ² That he may live the rest of his time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. ³ For the time past was sufficient for doing the things the Gentiles desire to do: living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, revelling, carousing, and abominable idolatries.

¹³ But rejoice, insofar as you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may be triumphantly joyful. ¹⁴ Blessed are you if you are insulted for the name of Christ; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

⁹ Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust under punishment until the day of judgment:

⁷ But by the same word, the heavens and the earth which are now, are reserved for fire on the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

⁵ But whoever keeps his word, in him is the love of God truly perfected. By this we know that we are in him:

²⁸ And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

¹ Behold, how great is the love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God; and so we are. The world does not know us, because it did not know him.

³ And every man who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.

¹⁹ And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him, ²⁰ Whenever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. ²¹ Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, then we have confidence toward God;

¹² No man has seen God at any time, but if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is perfected in us.
