⁴ In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

¹⁶ The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light; and to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, a light has sprung up.

⁷⁸ Through the tender mercy of our God, the sunrise from on high will visit us, ⁷⁹ To give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

³² A light of revelation for the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.

⁸ He was not the Light, but was sent to bear witness to the Light. ⁹ The true Light, which enlightens every man, was coming into the world.

²¹ For as the Father raises up the dead, and gives them life; even so the Son gives life to whom he will.

² (For the life was revealed, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was revealed to us;)

⁵ This then is the message which we have heard from him, and declare to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. ⁶ If we say that we have fellowship with him, yet walk in darkness, we lie, and do not practice the truth: ⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

¹¹ And this is the testimony, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

¹ And he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb,

¹⁶ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to you to testify of these things for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star.
