¹ Christ therefore having suffered in flesh for us, arm ye yourselves with this reflection, that he who hath suffered in flesh hath been stopped from sin,

¹⁶ Wash and become clean: remove iniquities from your souls; in my presence, cease from your evil deeds;

⁴¹ and they shall burn thy houses with fire, and execute vengeance on thee in the sight of many women. So will I turn thee from whoredom and no more give thee gifts.

² No, by no means. With respect to us who have died to sin, how can we any more live therein?

⁷ For he who is dead, is delivered from sin.

¹¹ So likewise reckon ye yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive for God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹² The night is far spent; the day is drawing on; let us therefore put off the works of darkness, and put on the armour of light; ¹³ and let us walk as in day light, in a becoming manner; not in revels and drunken debauches; not in dalliance and wantonness; not in strife and envy; ¹⁴ but put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh to fulfil its desires.

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live"not I myself any more, but Christ liveth in me; and the life which I now live in flesh, I live by that belief which I have in the son of God, who loved me and delivered up himself for me.

²⁴ Now they who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

¹³ take up therefore the complete armour of God, that you may be able to make resistance in the evil day, and having put a stop to them all, to maintain your ground.

⁵ For let this temper of mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus,

³ For you have died, and your life is hid with the Christ in God. ⁴ When the Christ, our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with him in glory. ⁵ Mortify, therefore, with regard to your members which are on earth, fornication, uncleanness, inordinate passions, wicked desire, and that licentiousness, which is idolatry,

¹⁰ For he who entereth into That Rest Of His hath desisted from his works, as God did from his.

³ Consider him who bore such contradiction of sinners against himself, that you may not grow weary, nor faint in your minds.

¹⁸ Because Christ himself suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God: being indeed put to death in flesh, but brought to life by that spirit
