¹ Now the Lord visited Sarah as he had said. And the Lord did for Sarah as he had spoken,

¹⁶ And I will bless her and give thee a son by her. And I will bless him. And he shall become nations, and from him there shall be kings of nations."

¹⁹ Whereupon God said to Abraham, Nay, behold Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name Isaak. And I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant to be his God and the God of his seed after him.

²¹ But this covenant of mine I will establish with Isaak whom Sarah shall bear about this time next year."

¹⁰ Then he said, I will return and come to thee about this time twelve month, and Sarah thy wife will have a son. And Sarah heard, being at the door of the tent behind them.

¹⁴ Can any thing be impossible with God? About this time twelve month I will return to thee, and Sarah shall have a son.

²⁴ Joseph spoke to his brothers, saying, I die, but God will assuredly visit you and conduct you out of this land into the land which God with an oath gave to our fathers, Abraham, Isaak and Jacob.

¹⁶ Go therefore and assemble the Senate of the children of Israel and say to them, The Lord, the God of our fathers hath appeared to me, even the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaak, and the God of Jacob saying, With watchfulness I have observed you and all that hath befallen you in Egypt.

⁵ thou shalt not worship them; nor serve them; for I, the Lord thy God, am a zealous God, retributing to them who hate me the sins of fathers upon children to the third and fourth generation;

⁶ Whereupon she arose with her two daughters in law, and set out on her return from the country of Moab; for she had heard, in the country of Moab, that the Lord had visited his people in giving them bread.

²¹ the Lord visited Anna, and she bore three sons more, and two daughters. But the lad Samuel grew up before the Lord.

⁶ The oracles of the Lord are pure oracles; tried silver, clear of dross, seven times purified.

⁴ Remember us, Lord, affectionately as thy people, visit us with thy salvation;

³⁵ The heaven and the earth shall fail; but my words shall not fail.

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; because he hath visited and delivered his people.

⁴⁴ and dash thee to the ground, and thy children within thee; and not leave one stone on another; because thou didst not know the time of this thy visitation.

¹⁷ who; as it is written, " I have made thee a father of many nations" is the father of us all in the sight of him in whom he believed; namely God who reanimateth the dead, and calleth up things not yet in existence as if actually existing. ¹⁸ Against hope he believed with a hope that he should become father of many nations according to what was said, "So shall thy seed be" ¹⁹ and far from being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body now become dead, he being then in his hundredth year; nor the deadness of Sarah's womb. ²⁰ He disputed not against the promise of God by unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God,

²³ but he indeed who was of the bondwoman, was born in the ordinary course of nature; and he who was of the freewoman, in virtue of the promise.

²⁸ Now we, brethren, are children of promise, as Isaak was.
