¹ Having spoken this, Jesus raised his eyes to heaven, and said, Father the hour is come. Glorify thy son, that thy son may glorify thee; ² that, as thou hast given him power over all flesh, he may, according to all that thou hast given him, give to these everlasting life. ³ Now this is the life everlasting that they may know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. ⁴ I have glorified thee on the earth; I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. ⁵ Now therefore, O Father, glorify thou me, with thyself, with that glory which I had in thy presence before the world was. ⁶ I have made known thy name to the men whom thou gavest me out of the world. They were thine, and thou gavest them to me, and they have kept thy word. ⁷ They now know that all those things which thou gavest me, come from thee. ⁸ Because I have given them the doctrines which thou gavest me, therefore they have received them, and know certainly that I came forth from thee; and believe that thou didst send me. ⁹ I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for them whom thou gavest me. Because they are thine, ¹⁰ and all things that are mine are thine, and thine are mine, and I am glorified by them, ¹¹ and am no longer in this world, but these are in this world, and I am coming to thee: Holy Father, keep in thy name them whom thou gavest me that they may be one as we are. ¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name. Them whom thou gavest to me I have guarded, and none of them is lost, unless it be the son of perdition, so that the scripture is fulfilled; ¹³ but I am now coming to thee, and I speak these things in this world, that they may have their joy in me completed in them. ¹⁴ I have given them thy word, and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world as I am not of the world. ¹⁵ I do not ask thee to remove them out of the world, but to preserve them from the evil one. ¹⁶ They are not of the world, as I am not of the world. ¹⁷ Consecrate them for thy truth. The Word which is thine, is truth. ¹⁸ As thou hast sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. ¹⁹ And for them I consecrate myself, that they may be consecrated for truth. ²⁰ Now I do not pray for these only, but for those also who shall by means of their word believe in me, ²¹ that all may be one as thou, Father, art in me and I in thee, that they also may be one in us that the world may believe that thou hast sent me, ²² and that I have given them the glory which thou gavest me, that they may be one as we are one ²³ I in them and thou in me, that they may be taken into union, and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them as thou hast loved me. ²⁴ O Father, with respect to them whom thou hast given me, my desire is that where I am, they may be with me, that they may behold my glory which thou hast given me, because thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. ²⁵ Righteous Father, though the world did not know thee, I knew thee, and these have known that thou didst send me. ²⁶ I have made known thy name to them, and I will make it known, that the love with which thou hast loved me may be in them and I in them.

¹ A Song of the steps. I Have lifted up mine eyes to the mountains, from which my help is to come. ² My help is from the Lord, who made the heaven and the earth.

¹⁴ Like a swallow so let me twitter; and like a turtle dove so let me moan; for mine eyes were too weak to look up to the vault of heaven; to the Lord who hath rescued me

⁴¹ Then he cometh the third time, and saith to them, Are you still asleep and taking rest? It is over. The hour is come. Behold the son of man is delivered into the hands of sinners.

¹³ But the publican, who stood at a distance, did not presume so much as to lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying; God, be merciful to me a sinner.

⁵³ When I was daily with you in the temple, you did not stretch forth your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

³⁰ Upon this they sought to seize him, but no one laid his hand on him, because his hour was not yet come.

³⁹ Now this he said in reference to the spirit which they who believed in him were to receive; for a holy spirit was not yet received, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

²⁰ These things Jesus spake in the treasury, as he was teaching in the temple; yet no one laid hands on him. Because his hour was not yet come;

⁴ Upon hearing this, Jesus said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that by it the son of God may be glorified.

⁴¹ Then they removed the stone from where the deceased lay. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

²³ Whereupon Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come that the Son of man should be glorified.

²⁷ Now is my soul troubled. What then? Shall I say, Father save me from this hour? But for this cause I came to this hour. ²⁸ Father, glorify thy name. Thereupon a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."

¹ . Now before this festival of the passover, as Jesus knew that his time was come that he should remove from this world to the father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the last.

³¹ When he therefore was gone, Jesus saith, Now is the son of man glorified; and God is glorified by him. ³² If God be glorified by him, God will also glorify him in himself. Indeed without delay he will glorify him.

³² Behold the time is coming, indeed is now come, when you will be scattered every one to his own, and you will leave me alone; yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

⁴ I have glorified thee on the earth; I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. ⁵ Now therefore, O Father, glorify thou me, with thyself, with that glory which I had in thy presence before the world was.

¹³ The God of Abraham, and Isaak, and Jacob; the God of our fathers hath glorified his servant Jesus whom ye delivered up. Yes, you renounced him in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to release him:

⁹ wherefore God highly exalted him, and granted him a name which is above every name, ¹⁰ that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those beneath the earth; ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the father.

²¹ who by him believe in God, who hath raised him from the dead, and hath given him glory, so that you may have faith and hope in God.

⁶ But as for me, by him I am appointed king on Sion his holy mountain. ⁷ I proclaim the decree of the Lord; to me the Lord said, "Thou art my Son, this day I have begotten thee, ⁸ "Ask of me, and I will give thee nations for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. ⁹ Thou shalt rule them with a rod of iron. Thou shalt break them to pieces like a potter's vessel." ¹⁰ Now therefore, O kings, be wise: Be instructed, all ye, who judge the earth. ¹¹ Serve the Lord with fear: and rejoice for him with trembling. ¹² Keep fast hold of instruction; the Lord may be angry and you may perish out of the right way. When his anger suddenly blazeth forth, happy are all they who have trusted in him.

¹ A Psalm. By David. The Lord said to my Lord; sit at my right hand; till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

¹⁴ And to him was given the government and the honour and the kingdom; and all the peoples, tribes and languages are to serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall never pass away, and his kingdom shall not be destroyed.

²⁷ All things are delivered up to me by my father; and none but the father knoweth the son; nor doth any know the father, but only the son, and he to whom the son is pleased to reveal him.

¹⁸ Then Jesus came near and spoke to them, saying, All power in heaven and on earth is given to me.

³⁵ The father loveth the son, and hath given all things into his hand.

¹⁴ but whosoever shall drink of the water which I will give him, will never thirst. But the water which I will give him, will be in him a fountain of water springing up for an everlasting life.

²¹ For as the Father raiseth the dead and restoreth to life, so the Son restoreth to life, whom he pleaseth. ²² For the Father judgeth no one, but hath committed the whole act of judging to his Son, ²³ that all may honour the Son, as they honour the Father. He who honoureth not the Son, doth not honour the Father, who sent him. ²⁴ Verily, verily I say to you, He who heareth my word, and believeth on him who sent me, hath an everlasting life, and doth not incur condemnation, but hath passed from death to that life. ²⁵ Verily, verily I say to you, a time is coming, nay is now come, when the dead will hearken to the voice of the son of God, and they who hearken shall live. ²⁶ For as the Father hath life in himself, so he hath granted to the son to have life also in himself, ²⁷ and hath also given him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man. ²⁸ Wonder not at this; for a time is coming when all that are in the graves shall hearken to his voice, ²⁹ and come forth; they who have done good, to a resurrection of life, and they who have done evil, to a resurrection of condemnation.

²⁷ Labour not to procure the food which perisheth, but the food which endureth for an everlasting life, which the son of man will give you; for him the Father, namely God, hath sealed.

³⁷ All that the Father giveth me, will come to me. And him who cometh to me I will not reject.

³⁹ And this is the will of the Father, who sent me that of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but raise it up at the last day.

⁵⁴ He who eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, hath an everlasting life, and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For this flesh of mine is food indeed; and this blood of mine is indeed drink. ⁵⁶ He who eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he. who eateth me, even he will live by me.

²⁸ and I give them everlasting life; and they shall never perish, nor shall any one wrest them out of my hand. ²⁹ My father who gave them to me, is greater than all, and none is able to wrest them out of my father's hand.

²⁵ Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life; he who believeth in me, though he may die, shall live. ²⁶ And none who liveth and believeth in me shall ever die. Believest thou this?

⁶ I have made known thy name to the men whom thou gavest me out of the world. They were thine, and thou gavest them to me, and they have kept thy word.

⁹ I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for them whom thou gavest me. Because they are thine,

²⁴ O Father, with respect to them whom thou hast given me, my desire is that where I am, they may be with me, that they may behold my glory which thou hast given me, because thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

²³ For die wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.

²⁵ For he must reign until he hath put all the enemies under his feet.

²⁰ of his which he exerted in the Christ: Having raised Him from the dead, he set him at his right hand, in the heavenly kingdom,

¹⁰ that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those beneath the earth;

³ For you have died, and your life is hid with the Christ in God. ⁴ When the Christ, our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with him in glory.

¹⁶ but I obtained mercy for this purpose, that Jesus Christ might display the utmost forbearance in me, a chief, for an example to them who should afterwards trust in him for everlasting life.

² hath in these last days spoken to us by a son whom he hath constituted heir of all things, by whom also he made the ages;

⁸ And set him over the works of thy hands. Thou hast put all things under his feet." For when he put all things under his feet, he left nothing which was not put in subjection to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him. ⁹ But we see him who was made a little lower than angels [namely] Jesus, on account of suffering death crowned with glory and honour, that so he by the favour of God might taste death for every man.

²² who, having gone to heaven, is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.

² even the life was manifested, and we have seen, and testify, and announce to you, that eternal life which was with the Father, and hath been clearly manifested to us]

²⁵ And this is the promise which he hath promised us, even the life which is everlasting.

²⁰ and we know that the son of God is come, and hath given us understanding that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, and in his son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and the life eternal.

²¹ keep yourselves in the love of God, as you expect the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for everlasting life;

⁹ And now, Solomon, my son, know thou the God of thy fathers, and serve him with a perfect heart and a willing mind; for the Lord searcheth all hearts and knoweth every thought. If thou seek him, he will be found by thee; but if thou forsake him, he will at last forsake thee.

³ And though for a long time Israel may be without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law,

¹⁰ Let them who know thy name confide in thee; For thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them who seek thee.

¹⁶ Draw near to me and hear these things: from the beginning I have not spoken in secret. When it was doing I was there. And now the Lord Lord hath sent me and his spirit.

¹¹ More over it is the determination of the Lord to remove him from the trouble of his soul; to shew him light and fashion him for knowledge; to justify the Righteous One who is serving many well, when he shall bear away their sins;

¹ [M] THE SPIRIT of the Lord is upon me, for the business for which he anointed me. He hath sent me to publish glad tidings to the poor, to heal them who are brokenhearted; to proclaim a deliverance to captives, and a recovery of sight to the blind:

²³ [J] Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom: nor the mighty man boast of his strength; neither let the rich man boast of his riches: ²⁴ but let him who boasteth, boast of this only, that he understandeth and knoweth, that I am the Lord, who exercise mercy and judgment and justice on the earth: that in these things is my delight, saith the Lord.

¹⁰ They must be taken up and carried; for they cannot walk. Fear them not for they can do you no harm, and there is no good in them.

³³ For this, saith the Lord, is my covenant which I will make with the house of Israel; after those days, saith the Lord, I will adapt my laws to their understanding and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God and they shall be my people. ³⁴ And they shall no more teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord; for all will know me from the greatest to the least of them: for I will be merciful to their iniquities and no more remember their sins.

³ Let us acknowledge; let us continue our pursuit to know the Lord; sure as the morning we shall find him. He will come like rain for us; like the former and latter rain for the earth."

³⁷ Whosoever shall receive one of such children on my account, receiveth me; and whoever shall receive me, receiveth him who sent me.

⁴⁸ and said to them, Whoever will receive this child for my name, receiveth me; and whoever receiveth me, receiveth him who sent me. For he who is least among you all, even he shall be great.

¹⁷ For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world may be saved by him.

³⁴ For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God; for God giveth him not the spirit by measure.

³⁶ But I have a greater testimony than John's. For the works which my father hath given me to perform; these very works, which I do, testify concerning me, that the father hath sent me. ³⁷ Indeed the father who hath sent me hath himself given a testimony concerning me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen a visible appearance of him

⁴⁴ How can you believe while you court honour one from another, and do not seek the glory which is from God alone?

²⁷ Labour not to procure the food which perisheth, but the food which endureth for an everlasting life, which the son of man will give you; for him the Father, namely God, hath sealed. ²⁸ Thereupon they said to him, What must we do that we may work the works of God? ²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God that you believe in him whom he hath sent.

⁵⁷ As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he. who eateth me, even he will live by me.

²⁹ but I know him, because I am immediately from him, and he sent me.

¹⁹ Thereupon they said, Where is thy Father? Jesus replied, You neither know me nor my Father. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.

⁵⁴ Jesus answered, If I glorify myself, this glory of mine is nothing. It is the Father who glorifieth me, of whom you say that he is your God. ⁵⁵ Now you do not know him, but I know him; and if I should say, I do not know him, I would speak falsely like you. But I know him and keep his word.

³⁶ do you say of me, whom the father hath consecrated and sent into the world, "Thou blasphemest," because I said, I am the son of God?

⁴² Now I know that thou hearest me always; but I have said this for the sake of the people standing around, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

⁴⁹ Because I have not spoken from myself, but the father who sent me hath himself given me a command what I should enjoin, and what I should speak, ⁵⁰ and I know that his commandment is everlasting life, therefore what I speak, I speak just as the father directed me.

⁹ Jesus saith to him, Am I so long a time with you, and hast thou not known me, Philip? He who hath seen me hath seen the Father: how then sayest thou, Shew us the Father? ¹⁰ Dost thou not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words which I speak to you, I do not speak from myself. And it is the Father himself abiding in me who doth the works.

²⁶ But the Monitor the Holy Spirit which the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

⁸ Because I have given them the doctrines which thou gavest me, therefore they have received them, and know certainly that I came forth from thee; and believe that thou didst send me.

²¹ that all may be one as thou, Father, art in me and I in thee, that they also may be one in us that the world may believe that thou hast sent me,

²³ I in them and thou in me, that they may be taken into union, and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them as thou hast loved me.

²⁵ Righteous Father, though the world did not know thee, I knew thee, and these have known that thou didst send me.

⁴ Therefore in respect to the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world: and that there is no other God but one.

³⁴ Be righteously sober and sin not. For some have not a knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.

⁶ Because it is God, who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who hath shined in our hearts, to give a lustre of the knowledge of the glory of God in the person of Jesus Christ;

⁹ For they themselves relate concerning us what an entrance we had among you; and how you turned to God from the idols, to serve the living and true God,

⁸ executing, with flaming fire, vengeance on them who know not God, and on them who hearken not to the glad tidings of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁵ which, in his own proper times will be displayed by him, who is the blessed and only potentate, the king of kings and the lord of lords, ¹⁶ who alone hath immortality, who inhabiteth light inaccessible, whom no man hath seen, or can see, to whom be honour and everlasting dominion. Amen.

¹¹ And they shall no more teach, every one his neighbour, and every one his brother, saying, Know the Lord; for all shall know me from the least to the greatest of them; ¹² for I will be merciful to their iniquities, and no more remember their sins and their transgressions."

⁶ We are of God. He who knoweth God, hearkeneth to us. He who is not of God doth not hearken to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

¹⁴ and we have seen, and do testify, that the Father hath sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. ¹⁵ Whosoever will confess that Jesus is the son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God.

¹¹ Now this is the testimony, that God hath given us everlasting life, and this life is by his son: ¹² he who hath the son hath this life: he who hath not the son of God hath not this life.

³⁷ For I say to you, this portion of scripture" And he was ranked with malefactors," must yet be accomplished in me. For the things concerning me are coming to a close.

³⁴ Jesus saith to them, It is my food to do the will of him who sent me, and to finish his work.

³⁶ But I have a greater testimony than John's. For the works which my father hath given me to perform; these very works, which I do, testify concerning me, that the father hath sent me.

³ Jesus answered, It was neither for any sin of this man, nor of his parents: but that the works of God may be manifested in him;

²⁸ Father, glorify thy name. Thereupon a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."

¹³ and whatever you ask in my name, that I will do. That the Father may be glorified in the Son,

³¹ save only that the world may know that I love the Father and do as he commanded me. Arise; let us go hence.

¹⁰ If you keep my commandments, you shall continue in my love; as I have kept my Father's commandments and continue in his love.

³⁰ When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished, and bowing his head, he expired.

²⁴ But I make no account of any of these, nor is this life of mine so much my concern as to finish with joy my course; even the office which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the favour of God.

⁷ I have maintained the good combat. I have finished the course; I have kept the faith.

²² The Lord created me, the beginning of his ways for his works. ²³ Before this age he founded me; in the beginning; before he made the earth ²⁴ and before he made the deeps: before the fountains of water issued forth; ²⁵ before the mountains were established; and before all the hills, he bringeth me forth. ²⁶ The Lord made fields and uninhabited wilds; and the habitable heights of the earth. ²⁷ When he furnished the heaven, I was with him; and when he set apart his own throne on the winds: ²⁸ and when he strengthened the clouds above: ²⁹ and when he secured the fountains of the earth below; And when he made the foundations of the earth strong: ³⁰ I was harmonizing with him. I was the one in whom he delighted; ³¹ and I was daily gladdened by his presence on all occasions; when he finished the World and was pleased therewith; and when he was pleased with the sons of men.

³⁴ Then the king will say to them on his right, Come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom which hath been prepared for you from the formation of the world:

¹ In the beginning was the Word; and the Word was with God; and the Word was God. ² He was in the beginning with God. ³ By him all things were made, and without him there was not made one single thing.

¹⁸ No one hath ever seen God. This only begotten son, who is in the bosom of the father, even he hath made him known.

¹³ No one indeed hath ascended up into heaven, but he who came down from heaven, namely, the son of man who is in heaven.

⁵⁸ Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Before Abraham was, I am.

³⁰ I and my father are one.

⁹ Jesus saith to him, Am I so long a time with you, and hast thou not known me, Philip? He who hath seen me hath seen the Father: how then sayest thou, Shew us the Father?

⁶ who being in the form of God did not think it robbery to be like God,

¹⁵ who is an image of the invisible God, a first born of the whole creation. ¹⁶ Because all the things which are in the heavens and which are on the earth were created by him, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers, they were all created by him, and for him; ¹⁷ therefore he is before all, and they are all kept in consistence by him,

³ who being an effulgence of the glory, and an impress of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, having by himself made a purification of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high,

¹⁰ Again, "Thou, Lord, in the beginning didst lay the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of thy hand.

²⁰ fore-ordained indeed before the foundation of the world, and manifested in these last times, for the sake of you

²¹ To him who overcometh I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I have overcome, and sit with my Father on his throne.

⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy art thou to take the book and to open the seals of it, because thou hast been slain and hast purchased us for God with thy blood, out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation; ¹⁰ and hast made us kings and priests for our God, and we shall reign on the earth." ¹¹ And I looked and heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the animate beings and the elders and the number of them was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and blessing."

¹³ And I heard every created being which is in the heaven and on the earth and underneath the earth and those which are in the sea, even all in them, saying, "to him who is sitting on the throne and to the lamb, be the blessing and the honour and the glory and the dominion for the ages of the ages." ¹⁴ And the four animate beings said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him who liveth for the ages of the ages.

⁸ and it is to be worshipped by all the inhabitants of the earth whose names are not written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain.

¹³ Then Moses said to God, Behold when I come to the Israelites and say to them, The God of our fathers hath sent me to you; and they shall say, What is his name? What shall I say to them? ¹⁴ On which God spoke to Moses saying, I am The I Am. Moreover he said, Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel, The I Am hath sent me to you. ¹⁵ Again God said to Moses, Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel, The Lord, the God of our fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaak, and the God of Jacob hath sent me to you. This is my everlasting name and memorial to all generations.

¹⁶ but thou hast been preserved for this purpose that by thee I might display my power and that my name may be celebrated throughout all the earth.

⁵ and the Lord descended in a cloud and stood by him there and called in the name of the Lord. ⁶ And the Lord passed by before him and proclaimed, The Lord, the God compassionate and merciful, long suffering and abundant in goodness and truth, ⁷ keeping kindness and mercy for thousands, taking away transgressions, iniquities and sins, will by no means clear the guilty, when he bringeth the transgressions of fathers on children and children s children to the third and fourth generation.

²² I will declare thy name to my brethren: in the midst of a congregation I will sing praise to thee.

¹⁷ Thou, God, hast taught me from my youth: and thus far I can declare thy wonders; ¹⁸ even to old age and grey hairs. God, forsake me not, till I declare thine arm to the rising generation; ¹⁹ thy power and thy righteousness, God most High; the great things which thou hast done. Who is like thee, God?

¹¹ I have hid thine oracles in my heart, that I may not sin against thee.

¹ My son, if thou wilt receive the dictate which I enjoin and hide it with thee, ² thine ear will hearken to wisdom; and thou wilt apply thy heart to understanding, and transmit it for instruction to thy son. ³ For if thou wilt call upon wisdom: and utter thy voice for understanding; ⁴ if thou wilt seek for it as silver; and search for it as for treasures; ⁵ then thou shalt understand the fear of the Lord; and find the knowledge of God.

¹⁰ For when wisdom entereth into thine understanding: and knowledge appeareth pleasant to thy soul:

¹ My son, forget not my laws; but let thy heart keep my commandments. ² For they will add to thee length of days and years of life and peace. ³ Let not acts of kindness and faithfulness forsake thee: but bind them about thy neck ⁴ and thou shalt find favour. Be provident in regard to things good in the sight of the Lord and of men.

²⁵ At that time Jesus took occasion to say, I thank thee, O father, Lord of heaven and earth; that thou having hid these things from the wise and prudent, hast revealed them to babes. ²⁶ Yes, O father, because it thus seemed good in thy sight. ²⁷ All things are delivered up to me by my father; and none but the father knoweth the son; nor doth any know the father, but only the son, and he to whom the son is pleased to reveal him.

²¹ At that same time Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou, having hid these things from the wise and learned, hast revealed them to babes; Yes, O father, that it thus seemed good in thy sight. ²² All things are delivered up to me by my Father; and none knoweth who the Son is, except the Father; nor who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whom the Son will please to reveal him.

³¹ therefore to the Jews who believed in him Jesus said, If you continue steadily in this doctrine of mine, you are my disciples indeed; ³² and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.

²⁷ My sheep, as I told you, hearken to my voice and I know them, and they follow me:

²¹ He who hath my commandments and keepeth them; he. it is who loveth me. And he who loveth me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him. ²² Judas [not the Iscariot] saith to him, Master, How is it that thou wilt manifest thyself to us, and not to the world?" ²³ Jesus in reply, said to him, If any one love me, he will keep my word and my Father will love him; and we will come to him and make an abode with him. ²⁴ He who doth not love me, doth not keep my words. Now the word which you hear is not mine only, but the Fathers who sent me.

³ Now you are clean through the word which I have spoken to you.

⁷ If you continue in me, and my words continue in you, ask what you will and it will be done for you:

¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own. Now because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

² that, as thou hast given him power over all flesh, he may, according to all that thou hast given him, give to these everlasting life.

⁹ I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for them whom thou gavest me. Because they are thine, ¹⁰ and all things that are mine are thine, and thine are mine, and I am glorified by them, ¹¹ and am no longer in this world, but these are in this world, and I am coming to thee: Holy Father, keep in thy name them whom thou gavest me that they may be one as we are.

¹⁴ I have given them thy word, and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world as I am not of the world.

¹⁶ They are not of the world, as I am not of the world.

²⁶ I have made known thy name to them, and I will make it known, that the love with which thou hast loved me may be in them and I in them.

⁹ that the word might be fulfilled which he spake, saying, "Of them whom thou gavest me I have lost none."

⁴⁸ Upon hearing this, the Gentiles rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were fitly disposed for everlasting life, believed.

²⁸ And we know that all things are working together for good to them who love God"to them who according to a previous purpose are now actually called. ²⁹ For those whom he foreknew, even these he marked out beforehand to be of a form the same as that of the image of his son, that he might be a first born among many brethren. ³⁰ And those whom he marked out beforehand he actually called, and those whom he called, even these he acquitted, and those whom he acquitted even these he glorified.

² God hath not utterly rejected his people whom he heretofore acknowledged. Do you not know by Elias what the scripture saith? When he is pleading with God against Israel, saying,

⁴ as he chose us in him before the5 foundation of the world, that we might be holy and blameless before him in love; ⁵ having before hand determinately pointed us out for an adoption into the number of children by Jesus Christ for himself, according to the good pleasure of his will; ⁶ for the praise of the glory of that favour of his with which he made us objects of favour in the Beloved; ⁷ by whom we have this redemption by his blood; the forgiveness of our sins according to the richness of his grace ⁸ in which he hath abounded for us ⁹ having with all wisdom and care made known to us this secret of his will, according to that good pleasure of his, which he previously purposed in himself, ¹⁰ for the dispensation of the fulness of times, to bring all things again under one head in Christ, both those in heaven and those on earth"even in him, ¹¹ by whom we, [having been previously marked out in a determinate manner, according to the purpose of him who effecteth all things according to the counsel of his will] were made his inheritance,

¹⁶ Let the word of the Christ dwell richly in you with all wisdom, when you teach and admonish one another; when with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs you sing gratefully to the Lord with your heart.

¹³ Now we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God hath, from the beginning, chosen you for salvation by a sanctification of spirit and a belief of the truth ¹⁴ to which he hath called you by our glad tidings, to be an acquisition of glory to our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹³ Use the form of sound words, which thou hast heard from me, with faith and the love in Christ Jesus.

¹² saying, "I will declare thy name to my brethren, In the midst of a congregation I will praise thee."

⁶ but Christ as a son over his own house, whose house we are, if we stedfastly maintain this confidence, and the boast of this hope, firm to the end.

¹ Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the sojourners of the dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia,

¹³ "I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where the throne of satan is; yet thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied the belief of me, even in the days in which Antipas was my faithful witness, who was slain among you where satan dwelleth.

⁸ I know thy works. Behold I have set before thee an open door, and none can shut it. Because thou hast a little strength and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name,

¹⁶ Jesus addressing them, said, This doctrine of mine is not mine, but his, who sent me. ¹⁷ If any man is disposed to do his will, he will know in respect to this doctrine, whether it is of God, or whether I speak from myself.

²⁸ therefore Jesus said to them, When you have lifted up the son of man, then you will know who I am; and that I do nothing of myself; but speak these things as my Father taught me.

²⁹ My father who gave them to me, is greater than all, and none is able to wrest them out of my father's hand. ³⁰ I and my father are one.

⁷ Had you known me, you would have known my Father also. But hence forth you know him and have seen him. ⁸ Philip saith to him, Master shew us the Father, and it sufficeth.

²⁰ In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

¹⁵ All that the Father hath is mine; therefore I said, He will receive of mine, and communicate to you.

²⁷ for the Father himself loveth you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. ²⁸ I came forth from the Father and am come into the world. Again I leave the world and am going to the Father. ²⁹ His disciples say to him, Behold now thou speakest plainly and usest no parable. ³⁰ Now we know that thou knowest all things, and hast no need that any should ask thee questions. By this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

¹⁰ and all things that are mine are thine, and thine are mine, and I am glorified by them,

³ the interpretation of sentences; a discernment of true justice; and to direct judgment,

²³ Behold I will pour forth to you the dictate of my spirit: and teach you this word of mine;

¹ My son, if thou wilt receive the dictate which I enjoin and hide it with thee,

¹⁰ Hear my son and receive my words; that, when the years of thy life shall be multiplied, thou mayst have many ways of livelihood:

¹⁰ Receive instruction in preference to silver, and knowledge rather than fine gold.

¹¹ And he in reply said to them, To you it hath been granted to know the secrets of the reign of the heavens; but to them it hath not been granted.

³³ He who hath received his testimony, hath set his seal to this, That God is true.

⁶⁸ Whereupon Simon Peter answered him, Master, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of an everlasting life,

⁴² Then Jesus said to them, If God were your father, you would love me; for I proceed and do come from God. For I have not come of myself, but he sent me.

⁴⁹ Because I have not spoken from myself, but the father who sent me hath himself given me a command what I should enjoin, and what I should speak,

¹⁰ Dost thou not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words which I speak to you, I do not speak from myself. And it is the Father himself abiding in me who doth the works.

¹⁵ I no longer call you servants; because the servant doth not know what his master doth. But I have called you friends, because I have made known to you all that I heard from my Father.

²⁷ for the Father himself loveth you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.

³⁰ Now we know that thou knowest all things, and hast no need that any should ask thee questions. By this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

⁶ I have made known thy name to the men whom thou gavest me out of the world. They were thine, and thou gavest them to me, and they have kept thy word. ⁷ They now know that all those things which thou gavest me, come from thee.

¹⁸ As thou hast sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.

²⁵ Righteous Father, though the world did not know thee, I knew thee, and these have known that thou didst send me. ²⁶ I have made known thy name to them, and I will make it known, that the love with which thou hast loved me may be in them and I in them.

²³ For I received from the Lord this which I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was delivered up, took a loaf,

¹ I now, brethren, remind you in what terms I proclaimed the gospel which I proclaimed to you, and which you received, and in which you have continued,

² inasmuch as you have heard of the dispensation of the favour of God granted to me for you; ³ that he hath by a revelation made known to me this secret [as I have briefly written above, ⁴ by the bare reading of which you may perceive my knowledge in this secret of the Christ, ⁵ which in former generations was not made known to the children of men as it hath now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the spirit,] ⁶ That the nations are coheirs, and a joint body, and joint partakers of that promise of his in the Christ by means of the gospel, ⁷ of which I was made a minister according to the free gift of God's favour which was granted to me; according to the energy of his power. ⁸ To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this favour was granted to proclaim among the nations the unsearchable riches of the Christ,

¹¹ and he hath given some to be apostles, and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some pastors, and teachers, ¹² for the fitting up of the saints; for the work of distribution; for the building up of the body of the Christ,

¹³ On this account also we give thanks to God continually, because, when you received from us this message of God, you embraced it, not as a word of men, but, as it really is, a word of God, which operateth with powerful effect in you who believe.

¹ Wherefore, as to what remaineth, we beseech you brethren, and exhort you, by the Lord Jesus, that as you have received from us how you ought to walk and please God, you would abound more and more.

¹⁴ and we have seen, and do testify, that the Father hath sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

³⁴ When the swine herds saw what had happened, they fled, and running away, spread the news through the city and the country

³² and I have prayed for thee that thy faith may not quite fail. When thou therefore hast recovered thyself, strengthen thou thy brethren.

¹⁶ and I will ask the Father and he will give you another monitor, that he may continue with you forever,

²⁶ In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father for you; ²⁷ for the Father himself loveth you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.

²⁰ Now I do not pray for these only, but for those also who shall by means of their word believe in me,

²⁵ So that he is completely able to save them, who come to God by him, as he is ever alive to intercede for them.

²⁴ For the Christ did not enter into holies made with hands, the symbols of the true; but into heaven itself; now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf:

¹ My children I write these things to you that you may not sin. But if any one sin, we have an advocate with the Father Jesus Christ the righteous, ² and he is an atonement for our sins, and not for ours only, but for those of the whole world.

¹⁹ We know that we are of God and that the whole world is laid prostrate by the wicked one;

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out that old serpent who is called The Devil and Satan who leadeth the whole world astray. He was thrown on the earth and his angels were thrown with him.

¹⁵ And whoever was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

²³ that all may honour the Son, as they honour the Father. He who honoureth not the Son, doth not honour the Father, who sent him.

¹⁴ He will glorify me, for he will receive of mine, and communicate to you. ¹⁵ All that the Father hath is mine; therefore I said, He will receive of mine, and communicate to you.

¹⁷ And this was known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who dwelt at Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all. And the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

²¹ So let no one boast in men; for all things .are yours: ²² whether Paul. or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come, all are yours, ²³ and you are Christ's and Christ is God's.

²⁴ and they glorified God on my account.

²⁰ according to my earnest expectation and hope that I shall in no wise be ashamed; but that in the most open manner, as always so now, Christ shall be magnified in my body, either by life or by death.

¹⁵ who is an image of the invisible God, a first born of the whole creation. ¹⁶ Because all the things which are in the heavens and which are on the earth were created by him, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers, they were all created by him, and for him; ¹⁷ therefore he is before all, and they are all kept in consistence by him, ¹⁸ and he is the head of the body, namely of the congregation. He who is the beginning is a first born from the dead that in all things he might be pre-eminent. ¹⁹ Because all the plenitude was pleased to dwell in him, and by him to reconcile all to himself,

⁹ Because all the plenitude of the deity resideth substantially in him, 10 therefore you are complete in him who is the head of all principality and power;

¹⁰ on the day when he shall come to be glorified by his saints, and to be admired by all those who believe that he was intrusted with this testimony of ours to you:

¹² that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified by you, and you by him, according to the favour of our God and Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ but you being a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people peculiarly set apart that you may publish the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light

⁸ And when he took the book, the four animate beings and the four and twenty elders fell down before the lamb, having, every of them, kitharas and golden cups full of incense which is the prayers of the saints.

⁸ Keep me as the apple of an eye: with the cover of thy wings ⁹ thou wilt shelter me from the face of the wicked who afflict me. These enemies of mine beset my soul:

⁹ help us, God, our saviour: for thy glory of thy name deliver us; and pardon our sins for thy name's sake.

¹⁰ The name of the Lord is of majestic power; and the righteous having recourse to it shall be exalted.

³ [c] I am a strong city, a city besieged. [v] In vain shall I supply her with drink: for by night she will be taken, and by day she will fall.

² as wax melteth before fire; and a fire will burn up the adversaries, and thy name will be manifest to the adversaries; At thy presence the nations will be troubled.

⁷ Our sins have risen up against us. O Lord, deal with us for Thine own sake: for our sins are many in Thy sight; for we have sinned against Thee.

²¹ O be appeased for Thy name's sake. Destroy not the throne of Thy glory; remember, O dissolve not Thy covenant with us.

⁹ but that my name might not be altogether profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they were, I did in their sight [those miracles] by which I was made known to them, in order to bring them out of the land of Egypt.

²² But I acted so that my name should not be utterly profaned in the sight of the nations. As I had brought them out before their eyes,

⁴⁴ and acknowledge that I am the Lord, when I deal thus with you [that my name may not be profaned] according to your evil ways and according to your corrupt devices, saith the Lord.

⁴⁸ You therefore are to be perfect, as your Father, who is in heaven, is perfect.

⁹ In this manner therefore pray ye, "Our Father, who art in the heavens, hallowed be thy name;

¹⁶ Behold I send you forth like sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore wise as the serpents and harmless as the doves.

³³ Jesus therefore said to them, Yet a little while I am with you. When I go away to him who sent me,

³ Jesus knowing that the father hath given all things into his hands, and that he had come forth from God, and is going to God,

¹⁸ If the world hate you, consider that it hated me before you. ¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own. Now because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. ²⁰ Remember the word which I spake to you. The servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they have kept my word, they will also keep yours. ²¹ But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.

²⁸ I came forth from the Father and am come into the world. Again I leave the world and am going to the Father.

³³ These things I have spoken to you, that you may have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble; but take courage: I have overcome the world.

¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name. Them whom thou gavest to me I have guarded, and none of them is lost, unless it be the son of perdition, so that the scripture is fulfilled; ¹³ but I am now coming to thee, and I speak these things in this world, that they may have their joy in me completed in them. ¹⁴ I have given them thy word, and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world as I am not of the world. ¹⁵ I do not ask thee to remove them out of the world, but to preserve them from the evil one. ¹⁶ They are not of the world, as I am not of the world. ¹⁷ Consecrate them for thy truth. The Word which is thine, is truth. ¹⁸ As thou hast sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.

²¹ that all may be one as thou, Father, art in me and I in thee, that they also may be one in us that the world may believe that thou hast sent me, ²² and that I have given them the glory which thou gavest me, that they may be one as we are one

⁹ And having said this, while they were beholding [him] he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight. ¹⁰ And as they continued looking stedfastly up to heaven, while he was going, behold! two men stood near them, robed in white, ¹¹ who addressed them, saying, Men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up to heaven? This same Jesus who is taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same manner as you have seen him going to heaven.

²¹ whom the heaven must receive till the time of the consummation of all which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets of old:

¹⁷ For the scripture saith to Pharaoh, "I have raised thee up for this purpose that by thee I may display my power; and that my name may be celebrated throughout all the earth."

⁵ so we being many are one body in Christ, but individually members of one another,

⁵ Now may the God of this patience and of this consolation grant you to have your minds mutually bent on this very thing after the example of Christ Jesus, ⁶ that you may unanimously, with one voice, glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ And I intreat you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in the same mind and in the same sentiment.

¹² For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body; so also is the Christ. ¹³ For by one spirit we are all baptized to one body, whether we were Jews or Greeks, slaves, or freemen; and have all been made to drink to one spirit.

²⁸ There is in him no distinction of Jew and Greek, no distinction of bondman and freeman, no distinction of male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

⁴ to be one body and one spirit: as you have indeed been called to one hope of your call.

⁹ wherefore God highly exalted him, and granted him a name which is above every name,

⁴ Ye adulterers and adulteresses! do you not know that the friendship of this world is enmity against God? Whoever therefore wisheth to be a friend of the world is adjudged an enemy of God.

⁵ who are, during belief, kept safely by the power of God, for a deliverance prepared to be revealed in the last time;

¹⁵ but as he who hath called you is holy, be ye also holy in the whole course of your life; ¹⁶ for it is written, "Be ye holy, because I am holy." ¹⁷ And since you invoke, as father, him who without respect of persons judgeth every one according to his work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear;

¹² and not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And why did he slay him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

¹ Jude a servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James; to the called, who are sanctified by God the father, and preserved by Jesus Christ:

²⁴ Now to him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you, without blemish, before his glory with great joy

⁸ And the four animate beings had, each of them six wings around and underneath they were full of eyes. And they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come!

⁴ Who would not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? For thou alone art perfect. For all the nations will come and worship before thee, For thy rules of rectitude are made manifest.

¹² His eyes are like a flame of fire; and on his head are many crowns and he hath a name written which no one but himself knoweth;

⁶ "Set a sinner over him; and let an accuser stand at his right hand. ⁷ When he is judged let him be condemned; and let his supplication be deemed an offence. ⁸ Let his days be few; and let another take his office. ⁹ Let his children be fatherless and his wife a widow. ¹⁰ Let his sons be vagabonds and beg: let them be cast out from their dwellings. ¹¹ Let an extortioner seize all that he hath; and strangers make spoil of his labours. ¹² Let there be none to help him; nor any to compassionate his orphan children. ¹³ Let his children be for destruction; In one generation let his name be blotted out. ¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. ¹⁵ Let them be continually before the Lord. And let the memorial of them be cut off from the earth: ¹⁶ because he did not remember to shew mercy; but persecuted a man needy and afflicted: to put to death one who was broken hearted. ¹⁷ As he loved cursing, let it come on him: as he delighted not in blessing let it be far from him. ¹⁸ As he clothed himself with cursing as with a mantle; and it came like water in his bowels; and like oil into his bones: ¹⁹ let it be to him as the mantle which covereth him: and as the girdle with which he is continually girded."

²⁶ but Elias was sent to none of them, but to a widow woman at Sarepta, a city of Sidon. ²⁷ And there were many lepers in Israel in the days of Eliseus the prophet, but none of them was cleansed; none but Naeman the Syrian.

³⁹ And this is the will of the Father, who sent me that of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but raise it up at the last day. ⁴⁰ And this is the will of him who sent me, that every one who seeth the son, and believeth in him, may have an everlasting life, and that I raise him up at the last day.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Have I not chosen you twelve? Yet one of you is a spy. ⁷¹ Now he spake of Judas Iscariot, son of Simon; for he thought of delivering him up though he was one of the twelve.

²⁷ My sheep, as I told you, hearken to my voice and I know them, and they follow me: ²⁸ and I give them everlasting life; and they shall never perish, nor shall any one wrest them out of my hand.

¹⁸ I do not speak of you all. I know whom I have chosen. But that the scripture may be fulfilled, He Who is eating bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.

¹⁶ said, Men, brethren, It was necessary that this scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit predicted, by the mouth of David, concerning Judas who was guide to them who laid hold on Jesus; ¹⁷ because he was numbered with us, and had a part of this service allotted him ¹⁸ [Now this man indeed had purchased! a field with the reward of his iniquity, and, falling on his face, had burst asunder, and all his bowels gushed out; ¹⁹ and this was so generally known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that the field is called in their language, Akeldama, that is field of blood] ²⁰ for it is written in the book of Psalms, "Let his fold be desolate, and let there be no inhabitant therein. And, His office let another take;"

²⁵ to take the share of this ministration and apostleship which Judas abandoned to go to his own place,"

³ Let no one by any means deceive you that it is, until the apostacy hath first come, and the man of sin hath been revealed: that son of perdition

¹³ And, again: "I will trust in him;" and, again: "Here am I and the children whom God hath given me."

¹⁹ They went out from us; but they were not of us. For if they had been of us, they would have continued with us.

¹⁰ then he said to them, Go, eat dainty meats, and drink sweet wine and send portions to them who have none, for this day is holy to the Lord; and do not despond; for the Lord is our strength.

⁴ Let me go to the altar of God; to God, the joy of my youth. With a kithara, I will praise thee, God, my God.

⁵ Let them who sow with tears reap with rapture.

²⁹ He is the bridegroom, who hath the bride. But the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth exceedingly on the account of the bridegroom's voice. This joy of mine therefore, is complete.

¹¹ These things I have spoken to you that my joy may continue, and that your joy may be complete.

²² So you at present are in grief; but I will see you again and your heart will be made joyful; and that joy of yours no one shall take from you. ²³ Now in that day you will not ask me any thing. Verily, verily, I say to you, whatever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he will give you. ²⁴ Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name. Ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be complete.

³³ These things I have spoken to you, that you may have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble; but take courage: I have overcome the world.

⁵² Now the disciples were filled with joy and a holy spirit,

¹⁷ For the reign of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in a holy spirit.

²² But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness,

² looking forward to Jesus, the leader and perfecter of this faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured a cross, despising shame, and hath taken a seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

⁴ And we write these things to you that your joy may be complete.

¹² Having many things to write to you, I determined not to commit them to paper and ink; but I hope to come to you, and deliver them by word of mouth, that our joy may be complete.

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between thee and the woman; and between thy seed and her seed. He will wound thy head, and thou wilt wound his heel."

²⁷ A righteous man is an abomination to an unjust man: and a straight course is an abomination to a transgressor.

⁸ and remove three shepherds in one month; and my soul will be weighed down against them. For as their souls roared against me,

²⁴ The scholar is not greater than the teacher; nor the servant, than the master. ²⁵ It is enough for the scholar to be as his teacher; and the servant, as his master. If they have called the master of the family Beelzebub, how much more, his domestics.

⁷ The world cannot hate you: but it hateth me, because I testify concerning it that its works are evil.

²³ Then he said to them, You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world;

⁴ at this they are surprized; and when you do not run with them into the same sink of debauchery, they rail. ⁵ They shall give an account to him who is prepared to judge living and dead.

⁵ They are of the world, therefore they speak suitably to the world, and the world hearkeneth to them. ⁶ We are of God. He who knoweth God, hearkeneth to us. He who is not of God doth not hearken to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

¹⁹ We know that we are of God and that the whole world is laid prostrate by the wicked one; ²⁰ and we know that the son of God is come, and hath given us understanding that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, and in his son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and the life eternal.

¹⁶ the Angel who delivered me from all evils, bless these children! And let them be called by my name and by the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaak; and may they be increased to a great multitude on the earth!

¹⁰ And Igabes called on the God of Israel, and said, If thou wilt bless me with blessings and enlarge my borders, let thy hand be with me, and give me knowledge that I may not debase myself. Accordingly God gave him all that he asked.

⁹ what profit is there in my blood; by my going down to corruption? Can dust celebrate thy praise; or can it proclaim thy truth?

⁷ May the Lord preserve thee from all evil! the Lord will keep thy soul.

¹⁰ Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do it with all thy might; since there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge nor wisdom in the mansion of the dead to which thou must go.

¹⁸ For those in the mansion of the dead cannot praise thee; nor can the dead return thee thanks, nor they in Hades hope for thy kindness. ¹⁹ The living will praise thee even as I do; for from this day I shall raise up children, who will proclaim this loving kindness of thine,

¹ You see how a righteous one was destroyed, and no one layeth it to heart. And righteous men are taken away, and no one observeth, that on account of iniquity the righteous one was taken away.

³⁷ But let your word yes, be yes; and your no, no; for whatever exceedeth these, proceedeth from that which is evil.

¹³ and bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil [for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory for the ages, amen.

³⁸ Now the man, out of whom the demons had gone, begged to be with him. But Jesus dismissed him, saying, ³⁹ Return to thy house, and tell what God hath done for thee. So he returned, and published through the whole city all that Jesus had done for him.

⁴ and forgive us our sins, for we indeed do forgive every one who offendeth us: and bring us not into temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

⁴ who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,

²⁰ according to my earnest expectation and hope that I shall in no wise be ashamed; but that in the most open manner, as always so now, Christ shall be magnified in my body, either by life or by death. ²¹ For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. ²² But whether the living in flesh is for me a fruit of labour, and what I should chuse, I do not know. ²³ For I am strained between the two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ which is by far the best; ²⁴ but to abide in the flesh is more needful on your account. ²⁵ And being confident of this, I know that I shall abide and continue some time with you all for your furtherance and joy in the faith; ²⁶ that by me your glorying in Christ Jesus may abound, by means of my being present with you again.

³ But the Lord is faithful, and will establish you, and guard you from the wicked one:

⁸ As to what remaineth, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, not only to me, but to all who have loved his glorious appearance.

¹⁸ and we know that every one who is born of God doth not sin; he indeed who is born of God guardeth himself and the wicked one doth not cling to him.

²⁸ And now, Lord, my Lord, Thou art God, and thy words will be true, and thou hast spoken these good things respecting thy servant,

⁶ The oracles of the Lord are pure oracles; tried silver, clear of dross, seven times purified.

⁷ The law of the Lord is perfect, it restoreth souls: The testimony of the Lord is faithful, it maketh infants wise. ⁸ The statutes of the Lord are right, they rejoice the heart. The commandment of the Lord is clear, it enlighteneth the eyes. ⁹ The fear of the Lord is pure, it endureth forever. The judgments of the Lord are true, they are justified for being so.

⁹ BETH. By what can a youth make his way prosperous? By keeping thy words.

¹⁰⁴ From thy precepts I got understanding: Therefore I hated every wicked way.

¹⁴⁴ thy testimonies are everlasting righteousness; give me understanding and I shall live.

¹⁵¹ far removed from thy law. Thou, Lord, art near, and all ¹⁵² thy ways are truth. I knew of old from thy testimonies, that thou hast founded them forever.

¹⁶⁰ The beginning of thy words was truth, and all thy righteous judgments endure forever.

¹¹ Now this is the meaning of the parable. The seed is the word of God.

¹⁵ But by the good ground are meant they, who with an honest and good heart, having heard the word, retain it, and perseveringly bring forth fruit.

³² and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.

⁴⁰ But now you seek to kill me, a man who told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.

¹⁹ And for them I consecrate myself, that they may be consecrated for truth.

⁹ and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by belief.

²¹ inasmuch as you have heard him and been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus,

²⁶ that having purified it with the bath of the water, he might hallow it; indeed

¹³ Now we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God hath, from the beginning, chosen you for salvation by a sanctification of spirit and a belief of the truth

²⁵ with meekness instructing opposers: perhaps God may grant them a change of mind so as to acknowledge the truth, ²⁶ and they who have been captivated by the devil for his pleasure, may rouse and escape from his snare.

²¹ Therefore having thrown off all the filth and scum of wickedness, receive with meekness the implanted word which is able to save your souls; ²² Having, in obedience to the truth, purified your souls by the spirit for an unfeigned brotherly affection, love one another fervently with a pure heart, ²³ as you have been born again not of corruptible but of incorruptible seed, by the word of God, which liveth and endureth forever.

¹ [M] THE SPIRIT of the Lord is upon me, for the business for which he anointed me. He hath sent me to publish glad tidings to the poor, to heal them who are brokenhearted; to proclaim a deliverance to captives, and a recovery of sight to the blind: ² to proclaim an acceptable year of the Lord and a day of retribution. To comfort all who are mourning; ³ that to the mourners in Sion may be given, glory instead of ashes, oil of joy to the mourners, robes of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called generations of righteousness, a plant of the Lord for glory.

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent forth, having given them a charge, saying, Go not away to the Gentiles, nor enter a city of the Samaritans;

³⁴ For this, behold I am about to send you prophets, wise men and Scribes: and some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city;

³⁸ I have sent you to reap that on which you bestowed no labour. Others have laboured and you have entered on their labours.

³ Now this is the life everlasting that they may know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.

²¹ Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be to you. As the Father sent me so I send you.

²⁰ we therefore as ambassadors for Christ; as if God were exhorting by us, we, in behalf of Christ, intreat, "Be reconciled to God;

⁷ of which I was made a minister according to the free gift of God's favour which was granted to me; according to the energy of his power.

¹ [M] For Sion's sake I will not be silent, and for the sake of Jerusalem I will not rest; until the righteousness thereof break forth as light, and my salvation blaze like a torch;

⁵ "Before I formed thee in the womb, I knew thee, and before thou wast born I hallowed thee. I have appointed thee a prophet for nations."

¹⁷ Consecrate them for thy truth. The Word which is thine, is truth.

² to the congregation of God which is at Corinth; to them who are hallowed by Christ Jesus; called to be holy, together with all those in every place who invoke the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:

¹⁵ For all this is for your sakes that the superabounding favour may make thanksgiving by many redound the more to the glory of God.

⁹ For you know the bounty of our Lord Jesus Christ, that rich as he was, he for your sakes became poor, that through his poverty you might become rich.

⁷ For God hath not called us for uncleanness, but to sanctification.

¹⁰ For this Cause I bear all things patiently for the sake of the chosen, that they also may obtain that salvation which is by Christ Jesus, with everlasting glory.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

¹¹ For both he who sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one; for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

¹³ For if the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean sanctify, to the cleansing of the flesh;

¹⁸ Whence even the first covenant was not ratified without blood;

²⁶ else he then must have suffered many a time from the foundation of the world; but now once for all, at the end of the ages, he hath been manifested for the purpose of abolishing sin offerings by the sacrifice of himself.

⁵ Therefore when coming into the world he saith, "Sacrifices and offering? thou didst not desire, but preparedst for me a body. ⁶ In whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin thou hadst no pleasure; ⁷ then I said, Behold I come [in the volume of a book it is written of me] to perform, O God, thy will." ⁸ Having first said, "Sacrifice and offering and whole burnt offerings, and offerings for sins thou didst not desire, nor take pleasure in them," [These were offered according to the law] ⁹ He then said, "Behold I come to perform, O God, thy will" [he taketh away the first that he may establish the second]. ¹⁰ by which will we are sanctified by the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once only.

²⁹ Of how much greater punishment, think ye, will he be thought worthy, who hath trampled upon the Son of God, and accounted the blood of the covenant, by which he was sanctified, a common thing, and treated contemptuously the spirit of grace?

⁶ I have made known thy name to the men whom thou gavest me out of the world. They were thine, and thou gavest them to me, and they have kept thy word. ⁷ They now know that all those things which thou gavest me, come from thee. ⁸ Because I have given them the doctrines which thou gavest me, therefore they have received them, and know certainly that I came forth from thee; and believe that thou didst send me.

⁴¹ Then they who gladly received his word were baptized, and about three thousand souls were that day added;

⁴ But many of those who heard the word believed. And the number of the men became about five thousand.

¹⁸ For I will not presume to mention any thing, save what Christ hath wrought by me for the obedience of the Gentiles, both in profession and practice, ¹⁹ by virtue of signs and wonders, by the power of the spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem and the country around even to Illyricum, I have confirmed the glad tidings of the Christ,

²⁶ but which is now laid open, and by prophetic writings made known to all the nations, according to an order of the everlasting God, for the obedience of belief

¹¹ and he hath given some to be apostles, and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some pastors, and teachers,

² to Timothy, a beloved son, be favour, mercy, peace from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord.

³⁹ And I will give them another way and another heart that I may be always feared and may be for good to them and their children after them.

¹⁶ Son of man, take thee a staff and write thereon, "Juda and the children of Israel who adhere to him" Then thou shalt take thee another staff and write thereon, "For Joseph the staff of Ephraim and all the children of Israel who adhere to him" ¹⁷ Then thou shalt join them one to the other to be bound together into one staff for thee, and they shall be in thy hand. ¹⁸ And when the children of thy people say to thee, Why dost thou not tell us, what thou meanest by these? ¹⁹ Then thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the Lord, Behold I will take the tribe of Joseph which is administered by Ephraim and the tribes of Israel which adhere to him, and add them to the tribe of Juda, and they shall be one sceptre in the hand of Juda.

²² and make them a nation in my land even on the mountains of Israel. And there shall be one chief over them. And they shall no more be two nations; nor shall they any more be split into two kingdoms, ²³ that they may no more be polluted with their idols. And I will deliver them from all their iniquities and purify them from all their sins which they have committed. And they shall be my people, and I the Lord will be their God. ²⁴ And my servant David shall be chief among them. He shall be singly the shepherd of all. Because they will walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and practise them, ²⁵ therefore they shall dwell in that land of theirs which I gave to my servant Jacob. Where their fathers dwelt there they shall dwell and my servant David shall be the only chief forever.

⁹ that I may then bring back upon peoples a tongue for its generation, that they may all invoke the name of the Lord; that they may serve him under one yoke.

⁹ And the Lord will be king over all the earth. In that day there will be one Lord and his name one,

¹⁶ Now I have other sheep which are not of this fold. These also I must lead; they will hearken to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.

³⁸ But if I do; though you do not believe me, believe the works; that you may know and believe that the father is in me, and I in him.

³⁵ By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you exercise mutual love.

⁹ Jesus saith to him, Am I so long a time with you, and hast thou not known me, Philip? He who hath seen me hath seen the Father: how then sayest thou, Shew us the Father? ¹⁰ Dost thou not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words which I speak to you, I do not speak from myself. And it is the Father himself abiding in me who doth the works. ¹¹ Believe me that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me. At least believe me on account of the works themselves.

¹¹ and am no longer in this world, but these are in this world, and I am coming to thee: Holy Father, keep in thy name them whom thou gavest me that they may be one as we are.

²² and that I have given them the glory which thou gavest me, that they may be one as we are one ²³ I in them and thou in me, that they may be taken into union, and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them as thou hast loved me.

⁴⁶ And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they partook of food with joy and singleness of heart,

³² Now the whole body of the believers were of one heart and one soul. And no one said that any of his goods were his own; but all things were common among them.

¹² For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body; so also is the Christ.

²⁵ that there may be no schisms in the body, but that the members may have mutual concern for one another; ²⁶ so that if one member suffereth, all the rest suffer with it; and if one member is honoured, all the rest rejoice with it. ²⁷ Now with regard to you, ye are a body of Christ, even individual members,

³ and endeavouring to preserve the unity of the spirit by the bond of peace; ⁴ to be one body and one spirit: as you have indeed been called to one hope of your call. ⁵ There is one Lord, one belief, one baptism, ⁶ one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in you all;

²⁷ Only conduct yourselves in a manner becoming the glad tidings of the Christ, that whether I come and see you, or if absent I may hear this of you, that you are stedfast in one spirit, and that without being in the least daunted by your opposers, you contend unanimously for the belief of the gospel,

¹ if therefore there be any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any participation of spirit, if any compassion and tender mercies, ² complete my joy. In order that you may be like minded, exercising the same love, having your souls knit together, your minds bent on the one thing ³ upon nothing out of a spirit of contention or vain glory, but in lowliness of mind esteeming one another better than yourselves, ⁴ look not every one to his own interests, but every one of you to the interests also of others. ⁵ For let this temper of mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus, ⁶ who being in the form of God did not think it robbery to be like God,

¹¹ where there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, scythian, bondman, freeman, but the all, and in all, Christ; ¹² put on therefore as chosen of God, holy and beloved, bowels of tender mercies, gentleness, humility, meekness, long suffering, ¹³ bearing with one another, and forgiving one another. If any one hath a cause of complaint against another; as the Christ hath freely forgiven you, so do ye. ¹⁴ And over all these put on love which is the band of this perfection;

⁸ Finally, be all of one mind, sympathising with one another, full of brotherly love, compassionate, courteous ⁹ not rendering evil for evil, revile for revile; but on the contrary, blessing; knowing that you have been called for this, that you may inherit a blessing.

⁷ because there are three that bear witness, the Spirit, and the Water, and the Blood, and these three are to one and the same thing,

⁷ he calleth to him the twelve, and began to send them forth, by two and two, and gave them power over the unclean spirits;

¹⁷ Now these signs shall accompany them who believe; by my name they will expel demons; they will speak with new tongues: ¹⁸ they will take up serpents: though they drink deadly poison, it shall not hurt them: upon sick persons they will lay their hands, and they shall recover. ¹⁹ So after the Lord had spoken to them, he was taken up to heaven, and sat at the right hand of God; ²⁰ and they went forth and proclaimed the tidings every where, the Lord co-operating with them, and confirming the word with those concomitant signs.

³⁰ that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹⁴ Now the Word became incarnate, and dwelt as in a tent among us, and we beheld his glory; a glory as of an only begotten from the father. He was full of grace and truth.

¹⁶ And of his fulness we have all received even grace for grace.

¹⁸ If the world hate you, consider that it hated me before you. ¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own. Now because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

²¹ Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be to you. As the Father sent me so I send you. ²² And having said this he breathed on them, and saith to them, Receive a holy spirit. ²³ Whose sins soever you forgive, they are forgiven them, and whose sins soever you retain, they are retained.

⁴¹ Thereupon they went from the presence of the Sanhedrim, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

¹⁵ nevertheless I have written to you, brethren, with more boldness, partly as your remembrancer, because of the favour which God hath granted me, ¹⁶ that I should be a ministering servant of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, and employed in the holy service of dispensing the glad tidings of God, that the offering of the Gentiles may be accepted, being hallowed by a holy spirit. ¹⁷ Therefore I have matter of boasting in Christ Jesus with respect to the things pertaining to God. ¹⁸ For I will not presume to mention any thing, save what Christ hath wrought by me for the obedience of the Gentiles, both in profession and practice, ¹⁹ by virtue of signs and wonders, by the power of the spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem and the country around even to Illyricum, I have confirmed the glad tidings of the Christ, ²⁰ [yet when thus ambitious to publish the glad tidings] not where Christ was named, that I might not build on another's foundation;

¹ and cooperating with him, we also exhort you that it may not be in vain that you have received this favour of God.

²⁰ built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the corner stone,

²⁹ because this hath been granted to you for Christ, not only to believe in him but also to suffer for him and you are engaged in the same conflict as that in which you saw me and now hear that I am engaged,

²⁴ Now I rejoice in these sufferings of mine for you, and am in my turn making up in my flesh the remainders of the sufferings of the Christ, for his body, namely, the congregation

⁵ there is a clear evidence of the righteous judgment of God that you are accounted worthy of the kingdom of God for which you, actually suffer; ⁶ since it is just with God to retribute affliction to them who afflict you; ⁷ and to you who are afflicted, rest with us at the manifestation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his mighty angels, ⁸ executing, with flaming fire, vengeance on them who know not God, and on them who hearken not to the glad tidings of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ These shall suffer punishment, an everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his majesty, ¹⁰ on the day when he shall come to be glorified by his saints, and to be admired by all those who believe that he was intrusted with this testimony of ours to you:

³ that which we have seen and heard, we announce to you, that you also may have communion with us. Now this communion of ours is with the Father, and with his son Jesus Christ.

²⁴ And he who keepeth his commandments will abide in him, and he will abide in that man. And by this we know that he abideth in us, even by the spirit which he hath given us.

¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations on which were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

⁵⁶ He who eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me and I in him.

²³ Jesus in reply, said to him, If any one love me, he will keep my word and my Father will love him; and we will come to him and make an abode with him.

¹⁰ But if Christ be in you, the body indeed is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive, because of a justification; ¹¹ and if the spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwelleth in you, he who hath raised up the Christ from the dead will quicken even those dead bodies of yours by his spirit which dwelleth in you.

³⁰ And it is owing to him that you are in Christ Jesus, who hath been made to us wisdom from God, namely, righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption,

²¹ for he hath made him who knew no sin, a sin offering for us, that by him we may be made the righteousness of God;

⁶ for the praise of the glory of that favour of his with which he made us objects of favour in the Beloved; ⁷ by whom we have this redemption by his blood; the forgiveness of our sins according to the richness of his grace ⁸ in which he hath abounded for us ⁹ having with all wisdom and care made known to us this secret of his will, according to that good pleasure of his, which he previously purposed in himself, ¹⁰ for the dispensation of the fulness of times, to bring all things again under one head in Christ, both those in heaven and those on earth"even in him, ¹¹ by whom we, [having been previously marked out in a determinate manner, according to the purpose of him who effecteth all things according to the counsel of his will] were made his inheritance, ¹² to the end that we who first trusted in the Christ might be for the praise of his glory; ¹³ and by whom you also, when you heard the word of this truth, the glad tidings of this salvation of yours"by whom you indeed, when you believed, were sealed with the spirit of the promise ¹⁴ [that holy [spirit which is an earnest of the inheritance of us"for the complete redemption of the purchase] for the praise of his glory.

¹² for the fitting up of the saints; for the work of distribution; for the building up of the body of the Christ, ¹³ until we all come up to the unity of the belief and of the knowledge of the son of God; to perfect manhood to a measure of the stature of the fulness of the Christ; ¹⁴ that we may no longer be infants, tossed like waves, and whirled about by every wind of doctrine, by the cheating sleight of men, by a skill in the art of deceiving: ¹⁵ but that maintaining truth with love, we may grow up in all respects for him, who is the head, the Christ; ¹⁶ from whom the whole body being fitly framed together and cemented, provision is made by means of the supply of every joint, according to the proportionate operative power of every part, for an increase of the body; for building itself up in love.

¹⁵ Let as many of us therefore as are full grown, have our minds bent on this; and if any of you are otherwise minded, when God shall reveal this to you,

²⁸ whom we proclaim, admonishing every man, and teaching every man with all wisdom; that we may present every one a full grown man in Christ Jesus;

² that, they being knit together in love, their hearts may be comforted, even to all the riches of the full assurance of this knowledge"to the acknowledgement of the mystery of the God and Father and the Christ,

⁹ Because all the plenitude of the deity resideth substantially in him, 10 therefore you are complete in him who is the head of all principality and power;

¹⁴ And over all these put on love which is the band of this perfection;

¹⁰ Now may the God of all favour, who hath invited us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, when we have suffered a little may he himself fit, support, strengthen and establish you!

¹ Behold what a love the Father hath shewn us, that we should be called children of God: on this account the world doth not know us, because it did not know him.

¹² No one hath ever seen God. If we love one another, God abideth in us, and his love is perfected in us. ¹³ By this we know that we abide in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his spirit; ¹⁴ and we have seen, and do testify, that the Father hath sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. ¹⁵ Whosoever will confess that Jesus is the son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God. ¹⁶ Now we have known and believed this love which God hath for us. God is love; and he who abideth in this love abideth in God, and God in him.

¹⁹ As for us we love him because he first loved us.

¹³ Therefore tell my father all my glory in Egypt and all that you see; and make haste and bring my father down hither.

²¹ that I may distribute wealth to them who love me; and fill their treasuries with good things. Having told you things which happen daily; I will now remember to reckon up things of old.

²¹ and his master said to him; "Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful in a small trust, I will give thee a much greater; enter into the joy of thy master:"

²³ his master said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful in a small trust, I will give thee a much greater, enter thou into the joy of thy master:

²⁹ Now I say to you, "I will not henceforth drink of the product of the vine; until the day when I shall drink it new with you in my father's kingdom."

³⁷ Happy those servants, whom the master, when he cometh, shall find watching. Verily I say to you, he will gird himself, and having placed them at table, will come and wait upon them.

²⁸ Now you are they, who have continued steadily with me in my trials. ²⁹ Therefore I covenant with you as my Father covenanted with me for a kingdom, ³⁰ that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

⁴³ Whereupon Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee, Today thou shalt be with me in paradise.

²⁶ If any one would wait upon me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall this attendant of mine also be. And if any one wait upon me my Father will reward him.

³ Now when I have gone and prepared a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

⁵ Now therefore, O Father, glorify thou me, with thyself, with that glory which I had in thy presence before the world was.

¹² For we now by means of a mirrour see a representation of things; but we shall then see face to face. I now know in part; but I shall then know as I am known.

⁸ and go on undaunted [as we think it better for us to be abroad from the body and at home with the Lord;]

²³ For I am strained between the two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ which is by far the best;

¹⁷ afterwards we who are left alive shall, together with them, be conveyed in clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we shall be forever with the Lord.

² Beloved, we are now children of God. Though it hath not yet been manifested what we shall be, yet we know that when he shall appear we shall be like him: that we shall see him as he is.

¹⁴ And I said to him, "Sir, thou knowest" Then he said to me, "These are they who have come out of great affliction and have washed their robes and made them white by the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ For this cause they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple. And he who sitteth on the throne will spread his tent over them. ¹⁶ They shall no more hunger, nor shall they thirst any more; nor shall the sun dart upon them; nor any scorching heat: ¹⁷ for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will tend them and guide them to living fountains of water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

²² And in it I saw no temple; for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb is its temple.

²¹ If they will proclaim, let them draw near and know at once, who hath published these things from the beginning: then let them be announced to you. I am God and there is no other besides me; a just God and a saviour be sides me there is none.

¹⁶ Upon this Peter, in reply, said, Thou art The Christ, the son of the living God.

²² All things are delivered up to me by my Father; and none knoweth who the Son is, except the Father; nor who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whom the Son will please to reveal him.

¹⁹ Upon which Jesus addressed them, and said, Verily, verily I say to you, The son can of himself do nothing, unless indeed he see the Father doing it; for whatever things He doth, these the Son doth likewise. ²⁰ For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all that he himself doth. And he will shew him greater works than these, that you may wonder.

¹⁹ So when they had rowed about twenty five or thirty furlongs, they saw Jesus walking on the sea, and approaching the vessel; and they were terrified.

⁵⁵ Now you do not know him, but I know him; and if I should say, I do not know him, I would speak falsely like you. But I know him and keep his word.

¹⁵ even as the father knoweth me, and I know the father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.

²¹ But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.

³ And these things they will do to you because they know neither the Father nor me.

²³ For as I passed along and beheld the objects and instruments of your devotion, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Him, therefore whom you worship without knowing him, I announce to you.

¹⁸ to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of satan to God, that they may receive a remission of sins and an inheritance among them who are sanctified by the belief in me.

²⁸ And as they did not search out God to have constantly a due sense of him, God gave them up to an undiscerning mind to do things unseemly,

¹¹ There is none who hath understanding. There is none who seeketh God.

²⁶ it might be an indication of this justification of his, pointing to a display of this justification of his at this time, in order to shew this, That he is just and the justifier of him who is a believer in Jesus.

²¹ For when, amidst the wisdom of God, the world did not, by means of that wisdom, know God; it pleased God by the foolishness of this proclamation to save them who believe;

⁴ with which the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the disbelieving, that the splendour of the glad tidings of the glory of the Christ, who is an image of God, may not shine upon them.

⁸ At the time indeed [a] An objection. [b] The answer. when you knew not God, you as slaves served things which are in reality.no gods; ⁹ but now when you know God, or rather when God hath owned you, how turn ye again to those weak and beggarly elements to which you degradingly desire again to be in bondage as before.

¹¹ And they shall no more teach, every one his neighbour, and every one his brother, saying, Know the Lord; for all shall know me from the least to the greatest of them;

⁹ If we confess our sins, He is faithful, and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

⁵⁰ As for me, I seek not mine own glory. There is one who seeketh [it] and judgeth.

⁴ Abide in me, and I [will abide] in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abide in the vine; so neither can you unless you continue in me.

⁹ As the Father hath loved me, so I have loved you. Continue ye in my love.

¹⁰ But if Christ be in you, the body indeed is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive, because of a justification;

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live"not I myself any more, but Christ liveth in me; and the life which I now live in flesh, I live by that belief which I have in the son of God, who loved me and delivered up himself for me.

⁶ for the praise of the glory of that favour of his with which he made us objects of favour in the Beloved;

²² and put all things under his feet, and constituted him head over all for the congregation, ²³ which is his body; the fulness of him who filleth all in all.

⁴ then God, who is rich in mercy, on the account of the great love with which he loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead in those trespasses, did bring us to life with the Christ, [by grace you are saved]

¹⁷ that, by means of this belief, the Christ may dwell in your hearts; that you being rooted and grounded in love,

³⁰ because we are members of his body; of his flesh and of his bones.

³² this is the great mystery, I mean in regard to Christ and the congregation.

²⁷ to whom God hath been pleased to make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the nations: namely Christ in you the hope of Glory,

¹¹ where there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, scythian, bondman, freeman, but the all, and in all, Christ;

¹⁶ And may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and our God and Father, who hath loved us and graciously given us everlasting comfort and good hope,

¹³ By this we know that we abide in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his spirit; ¹⁴ and we have seen, and do testify, that the Father hath sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
