⁶ The punishment of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of Sodom, which was overturned suddenly without a hand lifted to help her.

⁹ Those killed by the sword are better off than those who died of starvation. For these die slowly and waste away from lack of food from the field.

She and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy. ⁵⁰ '"They were arrogant and did disgusting things in front of me. So I did away with them when I saw this.

¹² He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our rulers who ruled us, by bringing on us a great calamity; for under the whole heaven such has not been done as has been done on Jerusalem.

²³ And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will descend to Hades! For if the miracles that were performed in you had happened in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. ²⁴ But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”

²¹ For at that time there will be great tribulation, unmatched from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again.

¹² I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.

⁴⁷ That servant who knows his master’s will but does not get ready or follow his instructions will be beaten with many blows.
