Acts 15:1 Cross References - Whiston

¹ And certain men who came down from Judea, taught the brethren, Except ye be circumcised, and walk after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

²² Moses gave unto you circumcision: not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers: and ye on the sabbath circumcise a man.

¹⁴ For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered us.

³ They then being brought on their way by the church, they passed through both Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

⁵ But those that had charged them to go up to the elders rose up, saying, That certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, said, They ought to circumcise them, and to command [them] to keep the law of Moses.

²² Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch, with Paul and Barnabas; Judas named Barabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren:

²⁴ Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, disturbing your souls; to whom we gave no commandment:

²⁰ And when they heard [it,] they glorified the Lord, saying, Thou seest, brother, how many ten-thousands in Judea there are who have believed, and they are all zealots of the law.

⁸ Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. ⁹ [Is] this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the circumcision also? For we say that faith was reckned to Abraham for righteousness. ¹⁰ How was it then reckned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. ¹¹ And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which [he had] being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness, might be imputed unto them also: ¹² And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham.

¹⁸ Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised: is any called in uncircumcision? let him not become circumcised. ¹⁹ Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

¹ Then fourteen Years after, I went up again to Jerusalem, with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.

³ But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised: ⁴ And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty, which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

¹¹ But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. ¹² For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew, and separated himself, fearing them who were of the circumcision. ¹³ And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. ¹⁴ But when I saw that they walked not uprightly, according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before all, If thou, a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, How compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

¹ Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and e not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. ² Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. ³ For I testify to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debter to do the whole law. ⁴ Christ is become of no effect unto you; whosoever of you are justified by the law, ye are fallen from grace.

⁶ For in Jesus Christ, neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love:

¹³ For neither they themselves who are circumcised, keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. ¹⁴ But God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. ¹⁵ For in Christ Jesus neither is circumcision any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. ¹⁶ And as many as walk according to this rule, peace [be] on them, and mercy, [and] upon the Israel of God.

² Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. ³ For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh:

⁸ Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ:

¹¹ In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ: ¹² Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

¹⁶ Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath.
