¹ And as they spake these words unto the people, the priests, and the Sadducees came.

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

¹² Then understood they that he bade [them] not beware of the leaven, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees, and of the Sadducees.

¹⁶ And they sent out unto him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.

²³ The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection, and asked him, ²⁴ Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, that his brother shall marry his wife, and shall raise up seed unto his brother.

³ Then assembled together the chief priests, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiphas. ⁴ And consulted that they might take Jesus by deceit, and kill [him].

¹ And when the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people made a council against Jesus to put him to death. ² And when they had bound him, they led [him away], and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

²⁰ But the chief priests and elders perswaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

⁴¹ Likewise also the Scribes and Pharisees, mocking him, said,

⁴ And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests, how he might betray him.

²⁰ Remember the words that I said unto you, my servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have observed my saying, they will observe yours also.

³ Judas therefore having received a band and officers from the chief priests and from the Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns, and torches, and weapons.

⁶ And Annas the high priest, and Caiphas, and Jonathan, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

²⁴ Now when the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these sayings, they doubted of them whereunto it would grow.

²⁶ Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them with violence: fearing the people, lest they should have been stoned.

⁷ And the word of the Lord increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

¹² And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon [him,] and caught him, and brought [him] to the council,

⁶ But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men, brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of the Pharisees: of the hope and resurrection of the dead, I am called in question. ⁷ And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was dissolved. ⁸ For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both. ⁹ And there arose a great cry: and some of the Pharisees arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: What if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him?
