⁴ They are astonished that you are not still rushing hand in hand with them into the same excesses of profligate living, and they abuse you for it;

²⁵ A curse on you, you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees, for you clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside they are full of your greed and self-indulgence.

¹³ Not many days after that, the younger son got together all he had and went away to a distant country, and there he squandered all his property by living in dissipation.

¹⁶ and keep your conscience clear, so that those who bitterly abuse your excellent conduct as Christians may be ashamed of slandering you.

¹² These men, like irrational animals, mere creatures of instinct created to be caught and killed, abuse the things that they do not understand, and so by their corruption they will be destroyed, suffering wrong as punishment for their wrongdoing.

²² In them is verified the truth of the proverb, "A dog turns back to what he has vomited"; and of that other proverb, "A sow that has washed herself goes back to wallow in the mire."

¹⁰ But these persons abuse everything they do not understand, and they are going to be destroyed by the very things they know by instinct, like the irrational animals.
