¹⁴ ¶ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for appointed times and for days and years; ¹⁵ and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth; and it was so. ¹⁶ And God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; he made the stars also. ¹⁷ And God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth ¹⁸ and to rule over the day and over the night and to divide the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. ¹⁹ And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

¹ ¶ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ² And the earth was without order, and empty; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. ³ ¶ And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. ⁴ And God saw that the light was good, and God divided the light from the darkness. ⁵ And God called the light Day and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. ⁶ ¶ And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. ⁷ And God made a firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. ⁸ And God called the firmament Heavens. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

² And the earth was without order, and empty; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. ³ ¶ And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.

⁷ He stretches out the north wind over the empty place and hangs the earth upon nothing.

²² He is seated upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; he stretches out the heavens as a curtain and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in:

² I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell; God knows) was caught up to the third heaven.

¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm of David. ¶ The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows the work of his hands. ² One day provides a word for the next day, and one night declares wisdom unto the next night. ³ There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. ⁴ Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tabernacle for the sun, ⁵ which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber and rejoices as a strong man to run a race. ⁶ His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

⁴ He counts the number of the stars and calls them all by their names.

¹ ¶ Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty, ² who dost cover thyself with light as with a garment, who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain, ³ who dost establish his chambers between the waters, who makes the clouds his chariot, who walks upon the wings of the wind, ⁴ who makes his angels spirits, his ministers a flaming fire, ⁵ who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved by any age. ⁶ Thou didst cover it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. ⁷ At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. ⁸ The mountains were exposed; they descended through the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. ⁹ Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over, that they not turn again to cover the earth. ¹⁰ ¶ Thou art he who sends the springs into the valleys, which run among the mountains. ¹¹ They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild asses quench their thirst. ¹² Next to them the fowls of the heavens have their habitation; they sing among the leaves. ¹³ He waters the mountains from his chambers; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works. ¹⁴ He causes the hay to grow for the cattle and grass for the service of man, that he may bring forth bread out of the earth ¹⁵ and wine that makes glad the heart of man, making his face to shine with oil and bread which sustains man’s heart. ¹⁶ The trees of the LORD are satisfied; the cedars of Lebanon, which he has planted, ¹⁷ that the birds may make their nests there: the stork makes her house among the fir trees. ¹⁸ The high mountains are a refuge for the wild goats, and the rocks for the conies. ¹⁹ ¶ He appointed the moon for times and seasons; the sun knows his going down. ²⁰ Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest move. ²¹ The young lions roar after their prey and seek their food from God. ²² The sun arises, they withdraw and lay themselves down in their dens. ²³ Man goes forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening. ²⁴ O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom thou hast made them all; the earth is full of thy riches. ²⁵ So is this great and wide sea, wherein are innumerable creeping things, both small and great beasts. ²⁶ There go the ships; there is that leviathan, whom thou didst make to play therein. ²⁷ These wait all upon thee, that thou may give them their food in due season. ²⁸ Thou givest unto them, they gather; thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good. ²⁹ Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their spirit, they cease to exist and return to their dust. ³⁰ Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created; and thou renewest the face of the earth. ³¹ ¶ Let the glory of the LORD endure for ever; let the LORD rejoice in his works. ³² He looks on the earth, and it trembles: he touches the mountains, and they smoke. ³³ I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. ³⁴ My meditation of him shall be sweet; I will be glad in the LORD. ³⁵ Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. ¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm of David. ¶ The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows the work of his hands.

¹² And the fourth angel sounded the trumpet, and the third part of the sun was smitten and the third part of the moon and the third part of the stars, in such a manner that the third part of them was darkened, and the third part of the day did not shine, and the night likewise.

¹ ¶ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

²⁶ Lift up your eyes on high and behold who has created these things; he brings out his host by number; he calls them all by their names; none shall be lacking by the greatness of his might and by the strength of his power.

³ ¶ When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; ⁴ what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou dost visit him?
