ABU(i)
And after six days Jesus takes with him Peter, and James, and John, and brings them up into a high mountain apart by themselves. And he was transfigured before them.
And his garments became shining, exceeding white as snow, such as no fuller on earth can whiten.
And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.
And Peter answering said to Jesus: Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tents, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
For he knew not what to say; for they were sore afraid.
And there came a cloud overshadowing them; and a voice came out of the cloud: This is my beloved Son; hear ye him.
And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw any one, but Jesus only with themselves.
And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should relate what they had seen to no one, except when the Son of man shall have risen from the dead.
And they kept the saying, questioning among themselves, what is the rising from the dead.
And they asked him, saying: Why say the scribes that Elijah must first come?
And he said to them: Elijah indeed comes first, and restores all things. And how is it written of the Son of man? That he must suffer many things, and be set at naught.
But I say to you, that Elijah also has come, and they did to him whatever they would, as it is written of him.
