Matthew⁽ⁱ⁾ ² And after .vi. dayes Iesus toke Peter, Iames and Iohan, and leade them vp into an hye mountayne oute of the waye alone & he was transfigured before them. ³ And hys rayment did shyne, and was made very whyte, euen as snowe: so whyte as no fuller can make vpon the earth. ⁴ And there apeared vnto them Helyas with Moyses, & they talke with Iesu. ⁵ And Peter aunswered and sayde to Iesu: Master here is a good beyng for vs, let vs make thre tabernacles, one for the, one for Moyses, and an other for Helyas. ⁶ And yet he wyste not what he sayde, for they were afrayde. ⁷ And there was a cloude that shadowed them. And a voyce came out of the cloud saying: This is my deare sonne, heare hym. ⁸ And sodenly, they loked rounde aboute them, and sawe no man more then Iesus only with them. ⁹ And as they came doune from the hyll, he charged theym that they shoulde tell no man what they had sene, tyl the sonne of man were rysen from death agayne. ¹⁰ And they kepte the saying with them, and demaunded one of another, what that rising from death agayn should meane? ¹¹ And they axed him sayinge: Why then saye the Scribes that Helyas must firste come ¹² He aunswered and sayde vnto them: Helias verely shal first come and restore all thinges. And also the sonne of man as it is written, shall suffer many thynges, and shalbe set at nought. ¹³ Moreouer I saye vnto you that Helyas is come, and they haue done vnto hym whatsoeuer pleased theym, as it is written of hym.
