3 “Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (the) πτωχοὶ (poor) τῷ (in the) πνεύματι (spirit), Ὅτι (for) αὐτῶν (theirs) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens).
4 Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) πενθοῦντες (mourning), Ὅτι (for) αὐτοὶ (they) παρακληθήσονται (will be comforted).
5 Μακάριοι (Blessed) οἱ (the) πραεῖς (meek), Ὅτι (for) αὐτοὶ (they) κληρονομήσουσιν (will inherit) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth).
6 Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) πεινῶντες (hungering) καὶ (and) διψῶντες (thirsting for) τὴν (-) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness); Ὅτι (for) αὐτοὶ (they) χορτασθήσονται (will be filled).
7 Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (the) ἐλεήμονες (merciful), Ὅτι (for) αὐτοὶ (they) ἐλεηθήσονται (will receive mercy).
8 Μακάριοι (Blessed) οἱ (the) καθαροὶ (pure) τῇ (-) καρδίᾳ (in heart), Ὅτι (for) αὐτοὶ (they) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ὄψονται (will see).
9 Μακάριοι (Blessed) οἱ (the) εἰρηνοποιοί (peacemakers), Ὅτι (for) αὐτοὶ (they) υἱοὶ (sons) Θεοῦ (of God) κληθήσονται (will be called).
10 Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) δεδιωγμένοι (having been persecuted) ἕνεκεν (on account of) δικαιοσύνης (righteousness), Ὅτι (for) αὐτῶν (theirs) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens).
11 Μακάριοί (Blessed) ἐστε (are you) ὅταν (when) ὀνειδίσωσιν (they shall insult) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) διώξωσιν (shall persecute you), καὶ (and) εἴπωσιν (shall say) πᾶν (all kinds of) πονηρὸν (evil) καθ’ (against) ὑμῶν (you), ψευδόμενοι (lying) ἕνεκεν (on account of) ἐμοῦ (Me).
12 χαίρετε (Rejoice) καὶ (and) ἀγαλλιᾶσθε (exult), ὅτι (for) ὁ (the) μισθὸς (reward) ὑμῶν (of you) πολὺς (is great) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens); οὕτως (thus) γὰρ (for) ἐδίωξαν (they persecuted) τοὺς (the) προφήτας (prophets) τοὺς (-) πρὸ (before) ὑμῶν (you).
13 Ὑμεῖς (You) ἐστε (are) τὸ (the) ἅλας (salt) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth); ἐὰν (if), δὲ (however), τὸ (the) ἅλας (salt) μωρανθῇ (becomes tasteless), ἐν (with) τίνι (what) ἁλισθήσεται (will it be salted). εἰς (For) οὐδὲν (nothing) ἰσχύει (it is potent) ἔτι (any longer), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) βληθὲν (having been cast) ἔξω (out), καταπατεῖσθαι (to be trampled upon) ὑπὸ (by) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (men).
14 Ὑμεῖς (You) ἐστε (are) τὸ (the) φῶς (light) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world). οὐ (Not) δύναται (is able) πόλις (a city) κρυβῆναι (to be hidden) ἐπάνω (on) ὄρους (a hill) κειμένη (lying).
15 οὐδὲ (Nor) καίουσιν (do they light) λύχνον (a lamp) καὶ (and) τιθέασιν (put) αὐτὸν (it) ὑπὸ (under) τὸν (-) μόδιον (a basket), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) λυχνίαν (lampstand), καὶ (and) λάμπει (it shines) πᾶσιν (for all) τοῖς (those) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) οἰκίᾳ (house).
16 οὕτως (Thus) λαμψάτω (let shine) τὸ (the) φῶς (light) ὑμῶν (of you) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (men), ὅπως (so that) ἴδωσιν (they may see) ὑμῶν (your) τὰ (-) καλὰ (good) ἔργα (works), καὶ (and) δοξάσωσιν (they should glorify) τὸν (the) πατέρα (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) τὸν (-) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens).
17 Μὴ (Not) νομίσητε (think) ὅτι (that) ἦλθον (I have come) καταλῦσαι (to abolish) τὸν (the) νόμον (law) ἢ (or) τοὺς (the) προφήτας (Prophets); οὐκ (not) ἦλθον (I have come) καταλῦσαι (to abolish), ἀλλὰ (but) πληρῶσαι (to fulfill).
18 ἀμὴν (Truly) γὰρ (for) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἕως (until) ἂν (-) παρέλθῃ (shall pass away) ὁ (the) οὐρανὸς (heaven) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) γῆ (earth), ἰῶτα (iota) ἓν (one), ἢ (or) μία (one) κεραία (stroke of a letter), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) παρέλθῃ (shall pass away) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) νόμου (law), ἕως (until) ἂν (-) πάντα (everything) γένηται (should happen).
19 Ὃς (Whoever) ἐὰν (if) οὖν (then) λύσῃ (shall break) μίαν (one) τῶν (of the) ἐντολῶν (commandments) τούτων (of these) τῶν (the) ἐλαχίστων (least) καὶ (and) διδάξῃ (shall teach) οὕτως (so) τοὺς (the) ἀνθρώπους (others), ἐλάχιστος (least) κληθήσεται (he will be called) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens); ὃς (whoever) δ’ (now) ἂν (-) ποιήσῃ (shall keep) καὶ (and) διδάξῃ (shall teach them), οὗτος (this one) μέγας (great) κληθήσεται (will be called) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens).
20 λέγω (I say) γὰρ (for) ὑμῖν (to you), ὅτι (that) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) περισσεύσῃ (shall abound) ὑμῶν (your) ἡ (-) δικαιοσύνη (righteousness) πλεῖον (above that) τῶν (of the) γραμματέων (scribes) καὶ (and) Φαρισαίων (Pharisees), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) εἰσέλθητε (shall you enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens).
21 Ἠκούσατε (You have heard) ὅτι (that) ἐρρέθη (it was said) τοῖς (to the) ἀρχαίοις (ancients), ‘Οὐ (Not) φονεύσεις (you shall murder); ὃς (whoever) δ’ (now) ἂν (-) φονεύσῃ (shall murder), ἔνοχος (liable) ἔσται (will be) τῇ (to the) κρίσει (judgment).’
22 ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however) λέγω (say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) ὀργιζόμενος (being angry with) τῷ (the) ἀδελφῷ (brother) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἔνοχος (liable) ἔσται (will be) τῇ (to the) κρίσει (judgment); ὃς (whoever) δ’ (now) ἂν (-) εἴπῃ (shall say) τῷ (to) ἀδελφῷ (brother) αὐτοῦ (of him), ‘Ῥακά (Raca),’ ἔνοχος (liable) ἔσται (will be) τῷ (to the) συνεδρίῳ (Sanhedrin); ὃς (whoever) δ’ (now) ἂν (-) εἴπῃ (shall say), ‘Μωρέ (Fool),’ ἔνοχος (liable) ἔσται (will be) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γέενναν (hell) τοῦ (-) πυρός (of fire).
23 Ἐὰν (If) οὖν (therefore) προσφέρῃς (you shall offer) τὸ (the) δῶρόν (gift) σου (of you) ἐπὶ (at) τὸ (the) θυσιαστήριον (altar), κἀκεῖ (and there) μνησθῇς (shall remember) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the) ἀδελφός (brother) σου (of you) ἔχει (has) τι (something) κατὰ (against) σοῦ (you),
24 ἄφες (leave) ἐκεῖ (there) τὸ (the) δῶρόν (gift) σου (of you) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τοῦ (the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar), καὶ (and) ὕπαγε (go away); πρῶτον (first) διαλλάγηθι (be reconciled) τῷ (to) ἀδελφῷ (brother) σου (of you); καὶ (and) τότε (then) ἐλθὼν (having come), πρόσφερε (offer) τὸ (the) δῶρόν (gift) σου (of you).
25 ἴσθι (Be) εὐνοῶν (agreeing) τῷ (with) ἀντιδίκῳ (accuser) σου (of you) ταχὺ (quickly), ἕως (while) ὅτου (which) εἶ (you are) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him), ἐν (on) τῇ (the) ὁδῷ (way), μή‿ (lest) ποτέ (ever) σε (you) παραδῷ (deliver) ὁ (the) ἀντίδικος (accuser) τῷ (to the) κριτῇ (judge), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) κριτὴς (judge) τῷ (to the) ὑπηρέτῃ (officer), καὶ (and) εἰς (into) φυλακὴν (prison) βληθήσῃ (you will be cast).
26 ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) σοι (to you), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἐξέλθῃς (shall you come out) ἐκεῖθεν (from there), ἕως (until) ἂν (-) ἀποδῷς (you should pay) τὸν (the) ἔσχατον (last) κοδράντην (kodranten)!
27 Ἠκούσατε (You have heard) ὅτι (that) ἐρρέθη (it was said), ‘Οὐ (Not) μοιχεύσεις (shall you commit adultery).’
28 ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however) λέγω (say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) βλέπων (looking upon) γυναῖκα (a woman) πρὸς (in order) τὸ (-) ἐπιθυμῆσαι (to lust after) αὐτὴν (her) ἤδη (already) ἐμοίχευσεν (has committed adultery with) αὐτὴν (her) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) καρδίᾳ (heart) αὐτοῦ (of him).
29 εἰ (If) δὲ (now) ὁ (the) ὀφθαλμός (eye) σου (of you) ὁ (-) δεξιὸς (right) σκανδαλίζει (causes to stumble) σε (you), ἔξελε (pluck out) αὐτὸν (it) καὶ (and) βάλε (cast it) ἀπὸ (from) σοῦ (you); συμφέρει (it is better) γάρ (for) σοι (for you) ἵνα (that) ἀπόληται (should perish) ἓν (one) τῶν (of the) μελῶν (members) σου (of you), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ὅλον (all) τὸ (the) σῶμά (body) σου (of you) βληθῇ (should be cast) εἰς (into) γέενναν (hell).
30 καὶ (And) εἰ (if) ἡ (the) δεξιά (right) σου (of you) χεὶρ (hand) σκανδαλίζει (causes to stumble) σε (you), ἔκκοψον (cut off) αὐτὴν (it) καὶ (and) βάλε (cast it) ἀπὸ (from) σοῦ (you); συμφέρει (it is better) γάρ (indeed) σοι (for you) ἵνα (that) ἀπόληται (should perish) ἓν (one) τῶν (of the) μελῶν (members) σου (of you), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ὅλον (all) τὸ (the) σῶμά (body) σου (of you) εἰς (into) γέενναν (hell) ἀπέλθῃ (should depart).
31 Ἐρρέθη (It was said) δέ (also), ‘Ὃς (Whoever) ἂν (-) ἀπολύσῃ (shall divorce) τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (wife) αὐτοῦ (of him), δότω (let him give) αὐτῇ (to her) ἀποστάσιον (a letter of divorce).’
32 ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however) λέγω (say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) ἀπολύων (divorcing) τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (wife) αὐτοῦ (of him), παρεκτὸς (except) λόγου (on account) πορνείας (of sexual immorality), ποιεῖ (causes) αὐτὴν (her) μοιχευθῆναι (to commit adultery). καὶ (And) ὃς (whoever) ἐὰν (if) ἀπολελυμένην (her having been divorced) γαμήσῃ (shall marry), μοιχᾶται (commits adultery).
33 Πάλιν (Again), ἠκούσατε (you have heard) ὅτι (that) ἐρρέθη (it was said) τοῖς (to the) ἀρχαίοις (ancients), ‘Οὐκ (Not) ἐπιορκήσεις (shall you swear falsely); ἀποδώσεις (you shall keep) δὲ (now) τῷ (to the) Κυρίῳ (Lord) τοὺς (the) ὅρκους (oaths) σου (of you).’
34 ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however) λέγω (say) ὑμῖν (to you) μὴ (not) ὀμόσαι (to swear) ὅλως (at all): μήτε (neither) ἐν (by) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), ὅτι (because) θρόνος (the throne) ἐστὶν (it is) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God);
35 μήτε (nor) ἐν (by) τῇ (the) γῇ (earth), ὅτι (because) ὑποπόδιόν (the footstool) ἐστιν (it is) τῶν (of the) ποδῶν (feet) αὐτοῦ (of Him); μήτε (nor) εἰς (by) Ἱεροσόλυμα (Jerusalem), ὅτι (because) πόλις (the city) ἐστὶν (it is) τοῦ (of the) μεγάλου (great) Βασιλέως (King).
36 μήτε (Neither) ἐν (by) τῇ (the) κεφαλῇ (head) σου (of you) ὀμόσῃς (shall you swear), ὅτι (because) οὐ (not) δύνασαι (you are able) μίαν (one) τρίχα (hair) λευκὴν (white) ποιῆσαι (to make), ἢ (or) μέλαιναν (black).
37 ἔστω (Let it be) δὲ (however) ὁ (the) λόγος (statement) ὑμῶν (of you), ‘Ναὶ (Yes),’ ναί (‘Yes),’ οὒ (and ‘No),’ ‘Οὔ (No).’ τὸ (The) δὲ (however) περισσὸν (more than) τούτων (these), ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) πονηροῦ (evil) ἐστιν (comes).
38 Ἠκούσατε (You have heard) ὅτι (that) ἐρρέθη (it was said), ‘Ὀφθαλμὸν (Eye) ἀντὶ (for) ὀφθαλμοῦ (eye), καὶ (and) ὀδόντα (tooth) ἀντὶ (for) ὀδόντος (tooth).’
39 ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however) λέγω (say) ὑμῖν (to you), μὴ (not) ἀντιστῆναι (to resist) τῷ (the) πονηρῷ (evil person). ἀλλ’ (Instead), ὅστις (whoever) σε (you) ῥαπίζει (shall strike) εἰς (on) τὴν (the) δεξιὰν (right) σιαγόνα (cheek) σου (of you), στρέψον (turn) αὐτῷ (to him) καὶ (also) τὴν (the) ἄλλην (other);
40 καὶ (and) τῷ (to the one) θέλοντί (willing) σοι (you) κριθῆναι (to sue) καὶ (and) τὸν (the) χιτῶνά (tunic) σου (of you) λαβεῖν (to take), ἄφες (yield) αὐτῷ (to him) καὶ (also) τὸ (the) ἱμάτιον (cloak);
41 καὶ (and) ὅστις (whoever) σε (you) ἀγγαρεύσει (shall compel to go) μίλιον (mile) ἕν (one), ὕπαγε (go) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) δύο (two).
42 τῷ (To the one) αἰτοῦντί (asking of) σε (you), δός (give); καὶ (and) τὸν (the one) θέλοντα (desiring) ἀπὸ (from) σοῦ (you) δανίσασθαι (to borrow), μὴ (not) ἀποστραφῇς (you shall turn away from).
43 Ἠκούσατε (You have heard) ὅτι (that) ἐρρέθη (it was said), ‘Ἀγαπήσεις (You shall love) τὸν (-) πλησίον (neighbor) σου (of you) καὶ (and) μισήσεις (shall hate) τὸν (-) ἐχθρόν (enemy) σου (of you).’
44 ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however) λέγω (say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀγαπᾶτε (love) τοὺς (the) ἐχθροὺς (enemies) ὑμῶν (of you), καὶ (and) προσεύχεσθε (pray) ὑπὲρ (for) τῶν (those) διωκόντων (persecuting) ὑμᾶς (you),
45 ὅπως (so that) γένησθε (you may be) υἱοὶ (sons) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) τοῦ (who is) ἐν (in) οὐρανοῖς (the heavens). ὅτι (For) τὸν (the) ἥλιον (sun) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἀνατέλλει (He makes rise) ἐπὶ (on) πονηροὺς (evil) καὶ (and) ἀγαθοὺς (good), καὶ (and) βρέχει (He sends rain) ἐπὶ (on) δικαίους (righteous) καὶ (and) ἀδίκους (unrighteous).
46 ἐὰν (If) γὰρ (for) ἀγαπήσητε (you love) τοὺς (those) ἀγαπῶντας (loving) ὑμᾶς (you), τίνα (what) μισθὸν (reward) ἔχετε (have you)? οὐχὶ (Do not) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) τελῶναι (tax collectors) τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) ποιοῦσιν (do)?
47 καὶ (And) ἐὰν (if) ἀσπάσησθε (you greet) τοὺς (the) ἀδελφοὺς (brothers) ὑμῶν (of you) μόνον (only), τί (what) περισσὸν (extraordinary) ποιεῖτε (do you)? οὐχὶ (Do not) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) ἐθνικοὶ (Gentiles) τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) ποιοῦσιν (do)?
48 Ἔσεσθε (Shall be) οὖν (therefore) ὑμεῖς (you) τέλειοι (perfect), ὡς (as) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) ὁ (who is) οὐράνιος (Heavenly), τέλειός (perfect) ἐστιν (is).
6 1 Προσέχετε (Beware) δὲ (now) τὴν (the) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness) ὑμῶν (of you) μὴ (not) ποιεῖν (to do) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (men) πρὸς (in order) τὸ (-) θεαθῆναι (to be seen) αὐτοῖς (by them); εἰ (if) δὲ (now) μή¦γε (otherwise), μισθὸν (reward) οὐκ (not) ἔχετε (have you) παρὰ (with) τῷ (the) Πατρὶ (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) τῷ (who is) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens).
2 Ὅταν (When) οὖν (therefore) ποιῇς (you do) ἐλεημοσύνην (acts of charity), μὴ (not) σαλπίσῃς (do sound a trumpet) ἔμπροσθέν (before) σου (you), ὥσπερ (as) οἱ (the) ὑποκριταὶ (hypocrites) ποιοῦσιν (do) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) συναγωγαῖς (synagogues) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ῥύμαις (streets), ὅπως (so that) δοξασθῶσιν (they may have glory) ὑπὸ (from) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (men). ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀπέχουσιν (they have) τὸν (the) μισθὸν (reward) αὐτῶν (of them).
3 σοῦ (You) δὲ (however) ποιοῦντος (doing) ἐλεημοσύνην (charity), μὴ (not) γνώτω (let know) ἡ (the) ἀριστερά (left hand) σου (of you) τί (what) ποιεῖ (is doing) ἡ (the) δεξιά (right hand) σου (of you),
4 ὅπως (so that) ᾖ (may be) σου (your) ἡ (-) ἐλεημοσύνη (giving) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυπτῷ (secret). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) σου (of you), ὁ (the One) βλέπων (seeing) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυπτῷ (secret), ἀποδώσει (will reward) σοι (you).
5 Καὶ (And) ὅταν (when) προσεύχησθε (you pray), οὐκ (not) ἔσεσθε (you shall be) ὡς (like) οἱ (the) ὑποκριταί (hypocrites), ὅτι (for) φιλοῦσιν (they love) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) συναγωγαῖς (synagogues) καὶ (and) ἐν (on) ταῖς (the) γωνίαις (corners) τῶν (of the) πλατειῶν (streets) ἑστῶτες (standing) προσεύχεσθαι (to pray), ὅπως (so that) φανῶσιν (they might be seen) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (by men). ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀπέχουσιν (they have) τὸν (the) μισθὸν (reward) αὐτῶν (of them).
6 σὺ (You) δὲ (however), ὅταν (when) προσεύχῃ (you pray), εἴσελθε (enter) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) ταμεῖόν (room) σου (of you), καὶ (and) κλείσας (having shut) τὴν (the) θύραν (door) σου (of you), πρόσευξαι (pray) τῷ (to) Πατρί (Father) σου (of you), τῷ (the One) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυπτῷ (secret). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) σου (of you), ὁ (the One) βλέπων (seeing) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυπτῷ (secret), ἀποδώσει (will reward) σοι (you).
7 Προσευχόμενοι (Praying) δὲ (now) μὴ (not) βατταλογήσητε (do use vain repetitions), ὥσπερ (like) οἱ (the) ἐθνικοί (pagans), δοκοῦσιν (they think) γὰρ (for) ὅτι (that) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) πολυλογίᾳ (many words) αὐτῶν (of them) εἰσακουσθήσονται (they will be heard).
8 μὴ (Not) οὖν (therefore) ὁμοιωθῆτε (be like) αὐτοῖς (to them), οἶδεν (knows) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) ὧν (of what things) χρείαν (need) ἔχετε (you have), πρὸ (before) τοῦ (-) ὑμᾶς (your) αἰτῆσαι (asking) αὐτόν (Him).
9 Οὕτως (Thus) οὖν (therefore) προσεύχεσθε (pray) ὑμεῖς (you): ‘Πάτερ (Father) ἡμῶν (of us), ὁ (who is) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens), Ἁγιασθήτω (hallowed be) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) σου (of You).
10 Ἐλθέτω* (Come) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) σου (of You); Γενηθήτω (be done) τὸ (the) θέλημά (will) σου (of You), Ὡς (as) ἐν (in) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (so also) ἐπὶ (upon) γῆς (earth).
11 Τὸν (The) ἄρτον (bread) ἡμῶν (of us) τὸν (-) ἐπιούσιον (daily) δὸς (grant) ἡμῖν (us) σήμερον (today).
12 Καὶ (And) ἄφες (forgive) ἡμῖν (us) τὰ (the) ὀφειλήματα (debts) ἡμῶν (of us), Ὡς (as) καὶ (also) ἡμεῖς (we) ἀφήκαμεν (forgive) τοῖς (the) ὀφειλέταις (debtors) ἡμῶν (of us);
13 Καὶ (And) μὴ (not) εἰσενέγκῃς (lead) ἡμᾶς (us) εἰς (into) πειρασμόν (temptation), Ἀλλὰ (but) ῥῦσαι (deliver) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) πονηροῦ (evil).’
14 Ἐὰν (If) γὰρ (for) ἀφῆτε (you forgive) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (men) τὰ (the) παραπτώματα (trespasses) αὐτῶν (of them), ἀφήσει (will forgive) καὶ (also) ὑμῖν (you) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) ὁ (-) οὐράνιος (Heavenly).
15 ἐὰν (If) δὲ (however) μὴ (not) ἀφῆτε (you forgive) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (men) (τὰ (the) παραπτώματα (the trespasses) αὐτῶν) (of them), οὐδὲ (neither) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) ἀφήσει (will forgive) τὰ (the) παραπτώματα (trespasses) ὑμῶν (of you).
16 Ὅταν (Whenever) δὲ (now) νηστεύητε (you fast), μὴ (not) γίνεσθε (be) ὡς (like) οἱ (the) ὑποκριταὶ (hypocrites), σκυθρωποί (gloomy); ἀφανίζουσιν (they disfigure) γὰρ (for) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (appearance) αὐτῶν (of them), ὅπως (so that) φανῶσιν (they might appear) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (to men) νηστεύοντες (as fasting). ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀπέχουσιν (they have) τὸν (the) μισθὸν (reward) αὐτῶν (of them).
17 σὺ (You) δὲ (however), νηστεύων (fasting), ἄλειψαί (anoint) σου (your) τὴν (-) κεφαλὴν (head) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) πρόσωπόν (face) σου (of you) νίψαι (wash),
18 ὅπως (so that) μὴ (not) φανῇς (you might appear) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (to men) νηστεύων (as fasting), ἀλλὰ (but) τῷ (-) Πατρί (to Father) σου (your) τῷ (the One) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυφαίῳ (secret); καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) σου (of you), ὁ (the One) βλέπων (seeing) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) κρυφαίῳ (secret), ἀποδώσει (will reward) σοι (you).
19 Μὴ (Not) θησαυρίζετε (store up) ὑμῖν (for yourselves) θησαυροὺς (treasures) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), ὅπου (where) σὴς (moth) καὶ (and) βρῶσις (rust) ἀφανίζει (destroy), καὶ (and) ὅπου (where) κλέπται (thieves) διορύσσουσιν (break in) καὶ (and) κλέπτουσιν (steal);
20 θησαυρίζετε (store up) δὲ (however) ὑμῖν (for yourselves) θησαυροὺς (treasures) ἐν (in) οὐρανῷ (heaven), ὅπου (where) οὔτε (neither) σὴς (moth) οὔτε (nor) βρῶσις (rust) ἀφανίζει (destroy), καὶ (and) ὅπου (where) κλέπται (thieves) οὐ (not) διορύσσουσιν (do break in) οὐδὲ (nor) κλέπτουσιν (steal).
21 ὅπου (Where) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) θησαυρός (treasure) σου (of you), ἐκεῖ (there) ἔσται (will be) καὶ (also) ἡ (the) καρδία (heart) σου (of you).
22 Ὁ (The) λύχνος (lamp) τοῦ (of the) σώματός (body) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) ὀφθαλμός (eye). ἐὰν (If) οὖν (therefore) ᾖ (is) ὁ (the) ὀφθαλμός (eye) σου (of you) ἁπλοῦς (clear), ὅλον (the whole) τὸ (-) σῶμά (body) σου (of you) φωτεινὸν (full of light) ἔσται (will be).
23 ἐὰν (If) δὲ (however) ὁ (the) ὀφθαλμός (eye) σου (of you) πονηρὸς (evil) ᾖ (is), ὅλον (all) τὸ (the) σῶμά (body) σου (of you) σκοτεινὸν (full of darkness) ἔσται (will be). εἰ (If) οὖν (then) τὸ (the) φῶς (light) τὸ (that is) ἐν (within) σοὶ (you) σκότος (darkness) ἐστίν (is), τὸ (that) σκότος (darkness) πόσον (how great)!
24 Οὐδεὶς (No one) δύναται (is able) δυσὶ (two) κυρίοις (masters) δουλεύειν (to serve); ἢ (either) γὰρ (for) τὸν (the) ἕνα (one) μισήσει (he will hate), καὶ (and) τὸν (the) ἕτερον (other) ἀγαπήσει (he will love); ἢ (or) ἑνὸς (the one) ἀνθέξεται (he will be devoted to), καὶ (and) τοῦ (the) ἑτέρου (other) καταφρονήσει (he will despise). οὐ (Not) δύνασθε (you are able) Θεῷ (God) δουλεύειν (to serve), καὶ (and) μαμωνᾷ (money).
25 Διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), μὴ (not) μεριμνᾶτε (be anxious about) τῇ (the) ψυχῇ (life) ὑμῶν (of you), τί (what) φάγητε (you should eat) ἢ (or) τί (what) πίητε (you should drink); μηδὲ (nor) τῷ (the) σώματι (body) ὑμῶν (of you), τί (what) ἐνδύσησθε (you should put on). οὐχὶ (Not) ἡ (the) ψυχὴ (life) πλεῖόν (more) ἐστιν (is) τῆς (than the) τροφῆς (food), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body) τοῦ (than) ἐνδύματος (clothing)?
26 ἐμβλέψατε (Look) εἰς (at) τὰ (the) πετεινὰ (birds) τοῦ (of the) οὐρανοῦ (air), ὅτι (that) οὐ (not) σπείρουσιν (they sow), οὐδὲ (nor) θερίζουσιν (do they reap), οὐδὲ (nor) συνάγουσιν (do they gather) εἰς (into) ἀποθήκας (barns)— καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) ὁ (-) οὐράνιος (Heavenly) τρέφει (feeds) αὐτά (them). οὐχ (Not) ὑμεῖς (you) μᾶλλον (much) διαφέρετε (are more valuable) αὐτῶν (than they)?
27 τίς (Who) δὲ (now) ἐξ (from) ὑμῶν (you) μεριμνῶν (being anxious) δύναται (is able) προσθεῖναι (to add) ἐπὶ (to) τὴν (the) ἡλικίαν (lifespan) αὐτοῦ (of him) πῆχυν (hour) ἕνα (one)?
28 Καὶ (And) περὶ (about) ἐνδύματος (clothing) τί (why) μεριμνᾶτε (are you anxious)? καταμάθετε (Observe) τὰ (the) κρίνα (lilies) τοῦ (of the) ἀγροῦ (field), πῶς (how) αὐξάνουσιν (they grow): οὐ (They do not) κοπιῶσιν (labor) οὐδὲ (nor) νήθουσιν (do they spin).
29 λέγω (I say) δὲ (however) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) οὐδὲ (not even) Σολομὼν (Solomon) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (all) τῇ (the) δόξῃ (glory) αὐτοῦ (of him) περιεβάλετο (was adorned) ὡς (like) ἓν (one) τούτων (of these).
30 εἰ (If) δὲ (however) τὸν (the) χόρτον (grass) τοῦ (of the) ἀγροῦ (field), σήμερον (today) ὄντα (being here), καὶ (and) αὔριον (tomorrow) εἰς (into) κλίβανον (the furnace) βαλλόμενον (being thrown), ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) οὕτως (thus) ἀμφιέννυσιν (clothes), οὐ (will He not) πολλῷ (much) μᾶλλον (more) ὑμᾶς (you), ὀλιγόπιστοι (O you of little faith)?
31 Μὴ (Not) οὖν (therefore) μεριμνήσητε (be anxious), λέγοντες (saying), ‘Τί (What) φάγωμεν (shall we eat)?’ ἤ (Or) ‘Τί (what) πίωμεν (shall we drink)?’ ἤ (Or) ‘Τί (what) περιβαλώμεθα (shall we wear)?’
32 πάντα (All) γὰρ (for) ταῦτα (these things) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) ἐπιζητοῦσιν (seek after); οἶδεν (knows) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) ὁ (-) οὐράνιος (Heavenly) ὅτι (that) χρῄζετε (you have need) τούτων (of them) ἁπάντων (all).
33 ζητεῖτε (Seek) δὲ (however) πρῶτον (first) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom) [τοῦ (of) θεοῦ] (God) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) ταῦτα (these things) πάντα (all) προστεθήσεται (will be added) ὑμῖν (to you).
34 Μὴ (Not) οὖν (therefore) μεριμνήσητε (be anxious) εἰς (about) τὴν (things) αὔριον (tomorrow), ἡ (-) γὰρ (for) αὔριον (tomorrow) μεριμνήσει (will be anxious about) ἑαυτῆς (itself). ἀρκετὸν (Sufficient) τῇ (to the) ἡμέρᾳ (day is) ἡ (the) κακία (trouble) αὐτῆς (of it).
7 1 Μὴ (Not) κρίνετε (do judge), ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) κριθῆτε (you should be judged).
2 ἐν (With) ᾧ (whatever) γὰρ (for) κρίματι (verdict) κρίνετε (you judge), κριθήσεσθε (you will be judged); καὶ (and) ἐν (with) ᾧ (whatever) μέτρῳ (measure) μετρεῖτε (you measure), μετρηθήσεται (it will be measured again) ὑμῖν (to you).
3 Τί (Why) δὲ (now) βλέπεις (do you look at) τὸ (the) κάρφος (splinter) τὸ (that is) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀφθαλμῷ (eye) τοῦ (the) ἀδελφοῦ (brother) σου (of you), τὴν (-) δὲ (and) ἐν (the in) τῷ (-) σῷ (your own) ὀφθαλμῷ (eye) δοκὸν (beam) οὐ (not) κατανοεῖς (notice)?
4 ἢ (Or) πῶς (how) ἐρεῖς (shall you say) τῷ (to the) ἀδελφῷ (brother) σου (of you), ‘Ἄφες (Permit that) ἐκβάλω (I might cast out) τὸ (the) κάρφος (splinter) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) ὀφθαλμοῦ (eye) σου (of you);’ καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἡ (the) δοκὸς (beam) ἐν (is in) τῷ (the) ὀφθαλμῷ (eye) σοῦ (of you)?
5 ὑποκριτά (Hypocrite)! ἔκβαλε (Cast out) πρῶτον (first) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) ὀφθαλμοῦ (eye) σοῦ (of you) τὴν (the) δοκόν (beam), καὶ (and) τότε (then) διαβλέψεις (you will see clearly) ἐκβαλεῖν (to cast out) τὸ (the) κάρφος (splinter) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) ὀφθαλμοῦ (eye) τοῦ (of the) ἀδελφοῦ (brother) σου (of you).
6 Μὴ (Not) δῶτε (give) τὸ (that which is) ἅγιον (holy) τοῖς (to the) κυσίν (dogs), μηδὲ (nor) βάλητε (cast) τοὺς (the) μαργαρίτας (pearls) ὑμῶν (of you) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (the) χοίρων (pigs), μή‿ (not) ποτε (lest) καταπατήσουσιν (they shall trample upon) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐν (with) τοῖς (the) ποσὶν (feet) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) στραφέντες (having turned), ῥήξωσιν (they tear to pieces) ὑμᾶς (you).
7 Αἰτεῖτε (Ask) καὶ (and) δοθήσεται (it will be given) ὑμῖν (to you); ζητεῖτε (seek) καὶ (and) εὑρήσετε (you will find); κρούετε (knock) καὶ (and) ἀνοιγήσεται (it will be opened) ὑμῖν (to you).
8 πᾶς (Everyone) γὰρ (for) ὁ (-) αἰτῶν (asking) λαμβάνει (receives); καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) ζητῶν (seeking), εὑρίσκει (finds); καὶ (and) τῷ (to the one) κρούοντι (knocking), ἀνοιγήσεται (it will be opened).
9 Ἢ (Or) τίς (which) ἐστιν (is) ἐξ (of) ὑμῶν (you) ἄνθρωπος (a man) ὃν (whom) αἰτήσει (will ask for) ὁ (the) υἱὸς (son) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἄρτον (bread), μὴ (not) λίθον (a stone) ἐπιδώσει (will he give) αὐτῷ (him)?
10 ἢ (Or) καὶ (also) ἰχθὺν (a fish) αἰτήσει (he will ask for), μὴ (not) ὄφιν (a serpent) ἐπιδώσει (will he give) αὐτῷ (him)?
11 εἰ (If) οὖν (therefore) ὑμεῖς (you), πονηροὶ (evil) ὄντες (being), οἴδατε (know) δόματα (gifts) ἀγαθὰ (good) διδόναι (to give) τοῖς (to the) τέκνοις (children) ὑμῶν (of you), πόσῳ (how much) μᾶλλον (more) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ὑμῶν (of you) ὁ (who is) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens) δώσει (will give) ἀγαθὰ (good things) τοῖς (to those) αἰτοῦσιν (asking) αὐτόν (Him)!
12 Πάντα (All things) οὖν (therefore), ὅσα (as many as) ἐὰν (if) θέλητε (you might desire) ἵνα (that) ποιῶσιν (should do) ὑμῖν (to you) οἱ (the) ἄνθρωποι (men), οὕτως (so) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you) ποιεῖτε (do) αὐτοῖς (to them). οὗτος (This) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) νόμος (law) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) προφῆται (prophets).
13 Εἰσέλθατε (Enter) διὰ (through) τῆς (the) στενῆς (narrow) πύλης (gate). ὅτι (For) πλατεῖα (wide is) ἡ (the) πύλη (gate) καὶ (and) εὐρύχωρος (broad) ἡ (the) ὁδὸς (way) ἡ (-) ἀπάγουσα (leading) εἰς (to) τὴν (-) ἀπώλειαν (destruction), καὶ (and) πολλοί (many) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (those) εἰσερχόμενοι (entering) δι’ (through) αὐτῆς (it).
14 ὅτι (For) στενὴ (small is) ἡ (the) πύλη (gate) καὶ (and) τεθλιμμένη (compressed) ἡ (the) ὁδὸς (way) ἡ (-) ἀπάγουσα (leading) εἰς (to) τὴν (-) ζωήν (life), καὶ (and) ὀλίγοι (few) εἰσὶν (are) οἱ (those) εὑρίσκοντες (finding) αὐτήν (it).
15 Προσέχετε (But beware) ἀπὸ (of) τῶν (the) ψευδοπροφητῶν (false prophets), οἵτινες (who) ἔρχονται (come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) ἐνδύμασιν (clothing) προβάτων (of sheep); ἔσωθεν (inwardly) δέ (however) εἰσιν (they are) λύκοι (wolves) ἅρπαγες (ravenous).
16 ἀπὸ (By) τῶν (the) καρπῶν (fruits) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐπιγνώσεσθε (you will know) αὐτούς (them). μήτι (Not) συλλέγουσιν (do they gather) ἀπὸ (from) ἀκανθῶν (thorns) σταφυλὰς (grapes), ἢ (or) ἀπὸ (from) τριβόλων (thistles) σῦκα (figs)?
17 οὕτως (So) πᾶν (every) δένδρον (tree) ἀγαθὸν (good), καρποὺς (fruits) καλοὺς (good) ποιεῖ (produces); τὸ (-) δὲ (but) σαπρὸν (the bad) δένδρον (tree), καρποὺς (fruits) πονηροὺς (bad) ποιεῖ (produces).
18 οὐ (Not) δύναται (is able) δένδρον (a tree) ἀγαθὸν (good), καρποὺς (fruits) πονηροὺς (bad) ποιεῖν* (to produce); οὐδὲ (nor) δένδρον (a tree) σαπρὸν (bad), καρποὺς (fruits) καλοὺς (good) ποιεῖν* (to produce).
19 πᾶν (Every) δένδρον (tree) μὴ (not) ποιοῦν (producing) καρπὸν (fruit) καλὸν (good) ἐκκόπτεται (is cut down) καὶ (and) εἰς (into) πῦρ (fire) βάλλεται (is thrown).
20 ἄρα¦γε (Then surely) ἀπὸ (by) τῶν (the) καρπῶν (fruits) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐπιγνώσεσθε (you will know) αὐτούς (them).
21 Οὐ (Not) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) λέγων (saying) μοι (to Me), ‘Κύριε (Lord), Κύριε (Lord),’ εἰσελεύσεται (will enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens), ἀλλ’ (but) ὁ (the one) ποιῶν (doing) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me), τοῦ (who is) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens).
22 πολλοὶ (Many) ἐροῦσίν (will say) μοι (to Me) ἐν (in) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (the) ἡμέρᾳ (day), ‘Κύριε (Lord), Κύριε (Lord), οὐ (not) τῷ (in) σῷ (Your) ὀνόματι (name) ἐπροφητεύσαμεν (did we prophesy), καὶ (and) τῷ (in) σῷ (Your) ὀνόματι (name) δαιμόνια (demons) ἐξεβάλομεν (cast out), καὶ (and) τῷ (in) σῷ (your) ὀνόματι (name) δυνάμεις (miracles) πολλὰς (many) ἐποιήσαμεν (perform)?’
23 καὶ (And) τότε (then) ὁμολογήσω (I will declare) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὅτι (-), ‘Οὐδέποτε (Never) ἔγνων (knew I) ὑμᾶς (you); ἀποχωρεῖτε (depart you) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (Me), οἱ (those) ἐργαζόμενοι (working) τὴν (-) ἀνομίαν (lawlessness).’
24 Πᾶς (Everyone) οὖν (therefore), ὅστις (whoever) ἀκούει (hears) μου (My) τοὺς (-) λόγους (words) τούτους (these), καὶ (and) ποιεῖ (does) αὐτούς (them), ὁμοιωθήσεται (will be like) ἀνδρὶ (a man) φρονίμῳ (wise), ὅστις (who) ᾠκοδόμησεν (built) αὐτοῦ (his) τὴν (-) οἰκίαν (house) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) πέτραν (rock).
25 καὶ (And) κατέβη (came down) ἡ (the) βροχὴ (rain), καὶ (and) ἦλθον (came) οἱ (the) ποταμοὶ (torrents), καὶ (and) ἔπνευσαν (blew) οἱ (the) ἄνεμοι (winds), καὶ (and) προσέπεσαν (beat) τῇ (that) οἰκίᾳ (house) ἐκείνῃ (upon); καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔπεσεν (it fell), τεθεμελίωτο (it had been founded) γὰρ (for) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) πέτραν (rock).
26 καὶ (And) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) ἀκούων (hearing) μου (My) τοὺς (-) λόγους (words) τούτους (these), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ποιῶν (doing) αὐτοὺς (them), ὁμοιωθήσεται (he will be likened) ἀνδρὶ (to a man) μωρῷ (foolish), ὅστις (who) ᾠκοδόμησεν (built) αὐτοῦ (of him) τὴν (the) οἰκίαν (house) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) ἄμμον (sand).
27 καὶ (And) κατέβη (came down) ἡ (the) βροχὴ (rain), καὶ (and) ἦλθον (came) οἱ (the) ποταμοὶ (torrents), καὶ (and) ἔπνευσαν (blew) οἱ (the) ἄνεμοι (winds), καὶ (and) προσέκοψαν (beat) τῇ (that) οἰκίᾳ (house) ἐκείνῃ (upon), καὶ (and) ἔπεσεν (it fell)— καὶ (and) ἦν (was) ἡ (the) πτῶσις (fall) αὐτῆς (of it) μεγάλη (great).”
28 Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass), ὅτε (when) ἐτέλεσεν (had finished) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τούτους (these), ἐξεπλήσσοντο (were astonished) οἱ (the) ὄχλοι (crowds) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) διδαχῇ (teaching) αὐτοῦ (of Him).
29 ἦν (He was) γὰρ (for) διδάσκων (teaching) αὐτοὺς (them) ὡς (as) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἔχων (having), καὶ (and) οὐχ (not) ὡς (as) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes) αὐτῶν (of them).
