A MIGHTY CONGREGATION WEEPS
And Ezra prays and spreads hands - weeping and falling at the face of the house of Elohim: a mighty great congregation from Yisra El - men and women and children gather to him: for in weeping, the people weep aboundingly. 2 And Shechan Yah the son of Yechi El of the sons of Elam, answers and says to Ezra, We - we treason against our Elohim and settle strange women of the people of the land: and now there is expectation in Yisra El concerning this: 3 and now have us cut a covenant with our Elohim to bring all the women and those birthed of them according to the counsel of my Adonay; and those who tremble at the misvah of our Elohim; and work according to the torah. 4 Rise; for this word is to you: and we are with you. Strengthen and work! 5 And Ezra rises and oaths the governors of the priests, the Leviym and all Yisra El to work according to this word: and they oath. 6 And Ezra rises from the face of the house of Elohim and goes into the chamber of Yah Hanan the son of El Yashib: and he goes there and neither eats bread nor drinks water: for he mourns because of the treason of the exiles. 7 And they pass a voice throughout Yah Hudah and Yeru Shalem to all the sons of the exile to gather to Yeru Shalem; 8 and whoever comes not within three days according to the counsel of the governors and the elders, that they devote all his acquisitions and separate him from the congregation of the exiles. 9 And all the men of Yah Hudah and Ben Yamin gather to Yeru Shalem within three days - the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month; and all the people settle in the broadway of the house of Elohim - trembling because of this word and for the great rain. 10 And Ezra the priest rises and says to them, You - you treason and settle strange women to add to the guilt of Yisra El: 11 and now give spread hands to Yah Veh Elohim of your fathers; and work his pleasure and separate yourselves from the people of the land and from the strange women. 12 And all the congregation answers and says with a great voice, According to your word, we work: 13 but the people are many and it is a time of much rain; and we have neither force to stand outside nor is this a work of one day or two: for we abound with them who rebel in this word: 14 O that it please our governors of all the congregation to stand and have all who settle strange women in our cities come with the elders and the judges at appointed times - city by city until the fuming wrath of our Elohim for this word turns from us. 15 Only, Yah Nathan the son of Asa El and Yachazi Yah the son of Tiqvah stand against this; and Meshullam and Shabbethay the Leviy help them; 16 and the sons of the exile work thus; and Ezra the priest with men - heads of the fathers of the house of their fathers and all who, by name, separate and settle in the first day of the tenth month to examine the word. 17 And they finish with all the men who settle strange women by the first day of the first month. 18
