Luke 21:9-19 And when you hear of wars and commotions, fear not: for these are first to be; but not yet cometh the end.

Etheridge⁽ⁱ⁾ ⁹ And when you hear of wars and commotions, fear not: for these are first to be; but not yet cometh the end. ¹⁰ For nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: ¹¹ and great earthquakes will be in divers places, and famines, and plagues; and there will be portents, and terrors, and great signs from the heavens will appear, and great tempests shall there be. ¹² But before all these, they will lay hands upon you, and persecute you, and deliver you up to the synagogues, and to the house of the bound. And they will bring you before kings and governors on account of my name. ¹³ And it shall be to you for a testimony.[A martyrdom.] ¹⁴ But lay it up in your hearts that you may not be learned for the answer; ¹⁵ for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries cannot stand against. ¹⁶ But your fathers, and your brethren, and your kinsfolk, and your friends will betray you, and some of you they shall put to death. ¹⁷ And you will be hated of all men on account of my name: ¹⁸ yet a hair of your head shall not perish, ¹⁹ but in your perseverance you shall possess your souls.
