RKJNT(i)
For I say to you, Among those born of women there is none greater than John: but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
And all the people who heard him, and the tax gatherers, acknowledged the ways of God were just, for they had been baptized with the baptism of John.
But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the purpose of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.
And the Lord said, To what shall I compare the men of this generation? and what are they like?
They are like children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We played the pipes for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge for you, and you did not weep.
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and you say, He has a devil.
The Son of man comes eating and drinking; and you say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a drunkard, a friend of tax gatherers and sinners!
But wisdom is justified by all her children.
