1 THERE was a certain man sick — Lazarus of Bethany, of the village of Mary and Martha her sister.
2 It was that Mary who anointed the Master with perfume and wiped his feet with her hair whose brother Lazarus was sick.
3 So the sisters sent to Jesus, saying, "Master, he whom you love is sick."
4 When Jesus heard it he said, "This sickness is not to end in death, but is for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified by it."
5 Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
