¹⁴ ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Θεὸς (God) καὶ (both) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) ἤγειρεν (has raised up), καὶ (and) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐξεγερεῖ (will raise out), διὰ (by) τῆς (the) δυνάμεως (power) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

²⁸ μὴ (Not) θαυμάζετε (marvel at) τοῦτο (this), ὅτι (for) ἔρχεται (is coming) ὥρα (an hour) ἐν (in) ᾗ (which) πάντες (all) οἱ (those) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) μνημείοις (tombs) ἀκούσουσιν (will hear) τῆς (the) φωνῆς (voice) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ²⁹ καὶ (and) ἐκπορεύσονται (will come forth) — οἱ (those) τὰ (-) ἀγαθὰ (good) ποιήσαντες (having done), εἰς (to) ἀνάστασιν (the resurrection) ζωῆς (of life); οἱ (-) ‹δὲ› (and) τὰ (those) φαῦλα (evil) πράξαντες (having done), εἰς (to) ἀνάστασιν (the resurrection) κρίσεως (of judgment).

³⁹ Τοῦτο (This) δέ (now) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) τοῦ (of the One) πέμψαντός (having sent) με (Me), ἵνα (that) πᾶν (all) ὃ (that) δέδωκέν (He has given) μοι (Me), μὴ (none) ἀπολέσω (I should lose) ἐξ (of) αὐτοῦ (it), ἀλλὰ (but) ἀναστήσω (will raise up) αὐτὸ (it) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἐσχάτῃ (last) ἡμέρᾳ (day). ⁴⁰ τοῦτο (This) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) τοῦ (of the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me), ἵνα (that) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) θεωρῶν (beholding) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) καὶ (and) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) αὐτὸν (Him) ἔχῃ (should have) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal), καὶ (and) ἀναστήσω (will raise up) αὐτὸν (him) ἐγὼ (I) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἐσχάτῃ (last) ἡμέρᾳ (day).”

²⁵ Εἶπεν (Said) αὐτῇ (to her) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ἡ (the) ἀνάστασις (resurrection) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ζωή (life); ὁ (the one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) ἐμὲ (Me), κἂν (even if) ἀποθάνῃ (he should die), ζήσεται (he will live); ²⁶ καὶ (and) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) ζῶν (living) καὶ (and) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) ἐμὲ (Me), οὐ (never) μὴ (not) ἀποθάνῃ (shall die), εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age). πιστεύεις (Believe you) τοῦτο (this)?”

²⁴ ὃν (whom) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἀνέστησεν (raised up), λύσας (having loosed) τὰς (the) ὠδῖνας (agony) τοῦ (of) θανάτου (death), καθότι (inasmuch as) οὐκ (not) ἦν (it was) δυνατὸν (possible) κρατεῖσθαι (for to be held) αὐτὸν (Him) ὑπ’ (by) αὐτοῦ (it).

³¹ καθότι (because) ἔστησεν (He set) ἡμέραν (a day) ἐν (in) ᾗ (which) μέλλει (He is about) κρίνειν (to judge) τὴν (the) οἰκουμένην (world) ἐν (in) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness), ἐν (by) ἀνδρὶ (a man) ᾧ (whom) ὥρισεν (He appointed), πίστιν (a guarantee) παρασχὼν (having provided) πᾶσιν (to all), ἀναστήσας (having raised) αὐτὸν (Him) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead).”

⁴ συνετάφημεν (We were buried) οὖν (therefore) αὐτῷ (with Him) διὰ (through) τοῦ (-) βαπτίσματος (baptism) εἰς (into) τὸν (-) θάνατον (death), ἵνα (so that) ὥσπερ (just as) ἠγέρθη (was raised up) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead) διὰ (by) τῆς (the) δόξης (glory) τοῦ (of the) Πατρός (Father), οὕτως (so) καὶ (also) ἡμεῖς (we) ἐν (in) καινότητι (newness) ζωῆς (of life) περιπατήσωμεν (should walk). ⁵ Εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) σύμφυτοι (united) γεγόναμεν (we have become) τῷ (in the) ὁμοιώματι (likeness) τοῦ (of the) θανάτου (death) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἀλλὰ (certainly) καὶ (also) τῆς (of the) ἀναστάσεως (resurrection) ἐσόμεθα (we will be); ⁶ τοῦτο (this) γινώσκοντες (knowing), ὅτι (that) ὁ (-) παλαιὸς (old) ἡμῶν (of us) ἄνθρωπος (self) συνεσταυρώθη (was crucified with Him), ἵνα (so that) καταργηθῇ (might be annulled) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body) τῆς (-) ἁμαρτίας (of sin), τοῦ (that) μηκέτι (no longer) δουλεύειν (are enslaved) ἡμᾶς (we) τῇ (-) ἁμαρτίᾳ (to sin). ⁷ ὁ (The one) γὰρ (for) ἀποθανὼν (having died) δεδικαίωται (has been freed) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (-) ἁμαρτίας (sin). ⁸ Εἰ (If) δὲ (now) ἀπεθάνομεν (we died) σὺν (with) Χριστῷ (Christ), πιστεύομεν (we believe) ὅτι (that) καὶ (also) συζήσομεν* (we will live with) αὐτῷ (Him),

¹¹ εἰ (If) δὲ (now) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τοῦ (of the One) ἐγείραντος (having raised up) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead) οἰκεῖ (dwells) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you), ὁ (the One) ἐγείρας (having raised up) «ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν» (the dead) Χριστὸν (Christ) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ζωοποιήσει (will give life) καὶ (also) τὰ (to the) θνητὰ (mortal) σώματα (bodies) ὑμῶν (of you), διὰ (on account of) τοῦ (-) ἐνοικοῦντος (dwelling) αὐτοῦ (His) Πνεύματος (Spirit) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you).

¹⁵ εὑρισκόμεθα (We are found) δὲ (then) καὶ (also) ψευδομάρτυρες (false witnesses) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὅτι (because) ἐμαρτυρήσαμεν (we have witnessed) κατὰ (concerning) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), ὅτι (that) ἤγειρεν (He raised up) τὸν (-) Χριστόν (Christ), ὃν (whom) οὐκ (not) ἤγειρεν (He has raised) εἴπερ (if) ἄρα (then) νεκροὶ (the dead) οὐκ (not) ἐγείρονται (are raised). ¹⁶ Εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) νεκροὶ (the dead) οὐκ (not) ἐγείρονται (are raised), οὐδὲ (neither) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἐγήγερται (has been raised); ¹⁷ εἰ (if) δὲ (then) Χριστὸς (Christ) οὐκ (not) ἐγήγερται (has been raised), ματαία (futile) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) ὑμῶν (of you) (ἐστίν) (is); ἔτι (still) ἐστὲ (you are) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἁμαρτίαις (sins) ὑμῶν (of you). ¹⁸ ἄρα (Then) καὶ (also) οἱ (those) κοιμηθέντες (having fallen asleep) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) ἀπώλοντο (have perished). ¹⁹ εἰ (If) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ζωῇ (life) ταύτῃ (this), ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) ἠλπικότες (having hope) ἐσμὲν (we are), μόνον (only), ἐλεεινότεροι (more to be pitied) πάντων (than all) ἀνθρώπων (men) ἐσμέν (we are). ²⁰ Νυνὶ (Now) δὲ (however) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἐγήγερται (has been raised) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), ἀπαρχὴ (firstfruit) τῶν (of those) κεκοιμημένων (having fallen asleep).

²³ Ἕκαστος (Each) δὲ (however) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἰδίῳ (own) τάγματι (order): ἀπαρχὴ (the firstfruit) Χριστός (Christ), ἔπειτα (then) οἱ (those) τοῦ (of) Χριστοῦ (Christ) ἐν (at) τῇ (the) παρουσίᾳ (coming) αὐτοῦ (of Him);

¹⁴ εἰδότες (knowing) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the One) ἐγείρας (having raised up) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), καὶ (also) ἡμᾶς (us) σὺν (through) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) ἐγερεῖ (will raise up) καὶ (and) παραστήσει (will present us) σὺν (with) ὑμῖν (you).

¹⁹ καὶ (and) τί (what) τὸ (is the) ὑπερβάλλον (surpassing) μέγεθος (greatness) τῆς (of the) δυνάμεως (power) αὐτοῦ (of Him) εἰς (toward) ἡμᾶς (us), τοὺς (those) πιστεύοντας (believing) κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) ἐνέργειαν (working) τοῦ (of the) κράτους (might) τῆς (of the) ἰσχύος (strength) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ²⁰ ἣν (which) ἐνήργηκεν (He worked) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) Χριστῷ (Christ), ἐγείρας (having raised) αὐτὸν (Him) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead) καὶ (and) καθίσας (having set Him) ἐν (at) δεξιᾷ (the right hand) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) ἐπουρανίοις (heavenly realms),

¹⁰ τοῦ (-) γνῶναι (to know) αὐτὸν (Him) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power) τῆς (of the) ἀναστάσεως (resurrection) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) [τὴν] (the) κοινωνίαν (fellowship) [τῶν] (of) παθημάτων (sufferings) αὐτοῦ (of Him), συμμορφιζόμενος (being conformed) τῷ (to the) θανάτῳ (death) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ¹¹ εἴ (if), πως (by any means), καταντήσω (I may attain) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) ἐξανάστασιν (resurrection) τὴν (-) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (dead).

²¹ ὃς (who) μετασχηματίσει (will transform) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body) τῆς (-) ταπεινώσεως (of humiliation) ἡμῶν (of us), σύμμορφον (conformed) τῷ (to the) σώματι (body) τῆς (of the) δόξης (glory) αὐτοῦ (of Himself), κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) ἐνέργειαν (working) τοῦ (-) δύνασθαι (enabling) αὐτὸν (Him) καὶ (even) ὑποτάξαι (to subdue) αὑτῷ (to Himself) τὰ (-) πάντα (all things).

¹⁴ εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) πιστεύομεν (we believe) ὅτι (that) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἀπέθανεν (died) καὶ (and) ἀνέστη (rose again), οὕτως (so) καὶ (also) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God), τοὺς (those) κοιμηθέντας (having fallen asleep) διὰ (through) τοῦ (-) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), ἄξει (will bring) σὺν (with) αὐτῷ (Him).
