⁶ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said), “Ἄφετε (Leave alone) αὐτήν (her); τί (why) αὐτῇ (to her) κόπους (trouble) παρέχετε (do you cause)? καλὸν (A good) ἔργον (work) ἠργάσατο (she did) ἐν (toward) ἐμοί (Me).

¹⁰ Γνοὺς (Having known this) δὲ (now), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Τί (Why) κόπους (trouble) παρέχετε (do you cause) τῇ (to the) γυναικί (woman)? ἔργον (A work) γὰρ (for) καλὸν (beautiful) ἠργάσατο (she did) εἰς (to) ἐμέ (Me).

³² ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) αὐτοῖς (them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Πολλὰ (Many) ἔργα (works) «ἔδειξα (I have shown) ὑμῖν» (you) καλὰ (good) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father); διὰ (because of) ποῖον (which) αὐτῶν (of these) ἔργον (work), ἐμὲ (Me) λιθάζετε (do you stone)?” ³³ Ἀπεκρίθησαν (Answered) αὐτῷ (Him) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews), “Περὶ (For) καλοῦ (a good) ἔργου (work) οὐ (not) λιθάζομέν (we do stone) σε (You), ἀλλὰ (but) περὶ (for) βλασφημίας (blasphemy), καὶ (and) ὅτι (because) σὺ (You), ἄνθρωπος (a man) ὢν (being), ποιεῖς (make) σεαυτὸν (yourself) Θεόν (God).”

³⁶ Ἐν (In) Ἰόππῃ (Joppa) δέ (now) τις (certain) ἦν (there was) μαθήτρια (a disciple) ὀνόματι (named) Ταβιθά (Tabitha), ἣ (which) διερμηνευομένη (translated) λέγεται (is called) Δορκάς (Dorcas). αὕτη (She) ἦν (was) πλήρης (full of) ἔργων (works) ἀγαθῶν (good), καὶ (and) ἐλεημοσυνῶν (of alms) ὧν (that) ἐποίει (she continually did).

⁸ δυνατεῖ (Able is) δὲ (now) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) πᾶσαν (all) χάριν (grace) περισσεῦσαι (to make abound) εἰς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), ἵνα (so that) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every way), πάντοτε (always), πᾶσαν (all) αὐτάρκειαν (sufficiency) ἔχοντες (having), περισσεύητε (you may abound) εἰς (in) πᾶν (every) ἔργον (work) ἀγαθόν (good).

¹⁸ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the one) ἑαυτὸν (himself) συνιστάνων (commending), ἐκεῖνός (this one) ἐστιν (is) δόκιμος (approved), ἀλλὰ (but) ὃν (the one whom) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) συνίστησιν (commends).

¹⁰ αὐτοῦ (Of Him) γάρ (for) ἐσμεν (we are) ποίημα (workmanship), κτισθέντες (having been created) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) ἐπὶ (for) ἔργοις (works) ἀγαθοῖς (good), οἷς (which) προητοίμασεν (prepared beforehand) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God), ἵνα (that) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them) περιπατήσωμεν (we should walk).

¹⁰ περιπατῆσαι (to walk) ἀξίως (worthily) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord): εἰς (in) πᾶσαν (all) ἀρεσκείαν (pleasing), ἐν (in) παντὶ (every) ἔργῳ (work) ἀγαθῷ (good), καρποφοροῦντες (bringing forth fruit) καὶ (and) αὐξανόμενοι (growing) τῇ (in the) ἐπιγνώσει (knowledge) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God),

¹⁷ παρακαλέσαι (may He encourage) ὑμῶν (your) τὰς (-) καρδίας (hearts) καὶ (and) στηρίξαι (may He strengthen them) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every) ἔργῳ (work) καὶ (and) λόγῳ (word) ἀγαθῷ (good).

¹⁰ ἐν (in) ἔργοις (works) καλοῖς (good) μαρτυρουμένη (being borne witness to), εἰ (if) ἐτεκνοτρόφησεν (she has brought up children), εἰ (if) ἐξενοδόχησεν (she entertained strangers), εἰ (if) ἁγίων (saints’) πόδας (feet) ἔνιψεν (she has washed), εἰ (if to those) θλιβομένοις (being oppressed) ἐπήρκεσεν (she has imparted relief), εἰ (if) παντὶ (every) ἔργῳ (work) ἀγαθῷ (good) ἐπηκολούθησεν (she has followed after).

¹⁸ ἀγαθοεργεῖν (to do good), πλουτεῖν (to be rich) ἐν (in) ἔργοις (works) καλοῖς (good), εὐμεταδότους (generous in distributing) εἶναι (to be), κοινωνικούς (ready to share),

²¹ ἐὰν (If) οὖν (therefore) τις (anyone) ἐκκαθάρῃ (shall have cleansed) ἑαυτὸν (himself) ἀπὸ (from) τούτων (these), ἔσται (he will be) σκεῦος (a vessel) εἰς (for) τιμήν (honor), ἡγιασμένον (having been sanctified), εὔχρηστον (useful) τῷ (to the) δεσπότῃ (Master), εἰς (for) πᾶν (every) ἔργον (work) ἀγαθὸν (good) ἡτοιμασμένον (having been prepared).

¹⁷ ἵνα (so that) ἄρτιος (complete) ᾖ (may be) ὁ (the) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἄνθρωπος (man), πρὸς (toward) πᾶν (every) ἔργον (work) ἀγαθὸν (good) ἐξηρτισμένος (having been fully equipped).

⁷ Περὶ (In) πάντα (all things) σεαυτὸν (yourself) παρεχόμενος (be holding forth) τύπον (as a pattern) καλῶν (of good) ἔργων (works); ἐν (in) τῇ (the) διδασκαλίᾳ (teaching) ἀφθορίαν (integrity), σεμνότητα (dignity),

¹⁴ ὃς (who) ἔδωκεν (gave) ἑαυτὸν (Himself) ὑπὲρ (for) ἡμῶν (us), ἵνα (that) λυτρώσηται (He might redeem) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀπὸ (from) πάσης (all) ἀνομίας (lawlessness), καὶ (and) καθαρίσῃ (might purify) ἑαυτῷ (to Himself) λαὸν (a people) περιούσιον (specially chosen), ζηλωτὴν (zealous) καλῶν (of good) ἔργων (works).

⁸ Πιστὸς (Trustworthy is) ὁ (the) λόγος (saying), καὶ (and) περὶ (concerning) τούτων (these things) βούλομαί (I want) σε (you) διαβεβαιοῦσθαι (to affirm strongly), ἵνα (so that) φροντίζωσιν (may take care) καλῶν (good) ἔργων (works) προΐστασθαι (to be devoted to), οἱ (those) πεπιστευκότες (believing) Θεῷ (God). ταῦτά (These things) ἐστιν (are) καλὰ (excellent) καὶ (and) ὠφέλιμα (profitable) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (to men).

¹⁴ μανθανέτωσαν (Let learn) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) οἱ (-) ἡμέτεροι (our people) καλῶν (good) ἔργων (works) προΐστασθαι (to devote themselves to), εἰς (for) τὰς (-) ἀναγκαίας (necessary) χρείας (needs), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) ὦσιν (they should be) ἄκαρποι (unfruitful).

²⁴ καὶ (And) κατανοῶμεν (we should think) ἀλλήλους (one another), εἰς (toward) παροξυσμὸν (stirring up) ἀγάπης (to love) καὶ (and) καλῶν (to good) ἔργων (works),

²¹ καταρτίσαι (equip) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) παντὶ (everything) ἀγαθῷ (good), εἰς (in order) τὸ (-) ποιῆσαι (to do) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ποιῶν (working) ἐν (in) ἡμῖν (us) τὸ (that which is) εὐάρεστον (well pleasing) ἐνώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (Him), διὰ (through) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ᾧ (to whom be) ἡ (the) δόξα (glory) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages). ἀμήν (Amen).

¹² τὴν (the) ἀναστροφὴν (conduct) ὑμῶν (of you) ἐν (among) τοῖς (the) ἔθνεσιν (Gentiles) ἔχοντες (keeping) καλήν (honorable), ἵνα (so that) ἐν (wherein) ᾧ (which) καταλαλοῦσιν (they speak against) ὑμῶν (you) ὡς (as) κακοποιῶν (evildoers), ἐκ (through) τῶν (the) καλῶν (good) ἔργων (deeds) ἐποπτεύοντες (having witnessed), δοξάσωσιν (they may glorify) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐν (in) ἡμέρᾳ (the day) ἐπισκοπῆς (of visitation).
