⁵⁴ Waters float over my head; I say:I am severed;

¹¹ My days have passed; My plans are pulled apart, Even the proposal of my heart. ¹² They convert night into day, Making light seem near in the face of darkness. ¹³ Since I expect the unseen as my house, I will strew out my berth in darkness;" ¹⁴ I will call out to the grave, My father are you, To the worm, My mother and my sister. ¹⁵ Where indeed is my expectation? And my good hope, who shall regard it? ¹⁶ Shall they descend by my side to the unseen, Or will our rest be together in the soil?

⁴ The cables of death have enveloped me, And the torrents of decadence, they frighten me."

²² Yet I, I had said in my consternation, I am severed from in front of Your eyes. Nevertheless, You heard the voice of my supplications In my imploring to You."

¹ {Davidic{ Save me, O Elohim, for waters come unto my soul!" ² I sink in the mire of a swamp, and there is no standing ground. I come into deep waters, and the surge engulfs me."

¹⁵ Let not the surge of the water be engulfing me, Let not the swamp be swallowing me up, And let not the well be blocking off its mouth over me."

⁴ Then the waters, they would have engulfed us, The torrent, it would have passed over our soul;" ⁵ Then there would have passed over our soul The rampaging waters.

¹⁰ I, yea, I say:In the height of my days am I going into the gates of the unseen, made to miss the rest of my years." ¹¹ Said I:I shall not see the salvation of Yah. Yah is in the land of the living. And I shall not look for the salvation of Israel on the earth, I shall not look on humanity further. When I am with the dwellers of transience I leave off looking." ¹² My generation journeys and is deported from me as the tent of a shepherd. I snap as a weaver the thread of my life. From the thrum is He clipping me. From day unto night are You causing me to repay. ¹³ I compensate till the morning. As a lion, so is He breaking all my bones. From day unto night are You causing me to repay."

¹⁸ And I think my endurance has perished, and my hope from Yahweh."

¹¹ And He said unto me, `Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; lo, they are saying:Dried up have our bones, And perished has our hope, We have been cut off by ourselves."

³ And You are flinging me into the shadowy depth, into the heart of the seas, and the stream is surrounding me; all Your breakers and Your billows pass over me." ⁴ And I said, I am driven out from in front of Your eyes. Yea, I will continue to look to Your holy temple." ⁵ The waters envelope me unto the soul; the submerged chaos is surrounding me; sedge binds up my head.

⁸ For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which came to us in the province of Asia, that we were inordinately burdened, over our ability, so that we were despairing of life also." ⁹ But we have the rescript of death in ourselves, that we may be having no confidence in ourselves, but in God, Who rouses the dead, ¹⁰ Who rescues us from a death of such proportions, and will be rescuing; on Whom we rely that He will still be rescuing also;"
