¹ Like rillets of water is the king's heart in the hand of Yahweh; Wherever He inclines, He turns it aside." ² Every way of a man seems upright in his own eyes, Yet it is Yahweh Who regulates the hearts." ³ To do justice and right judgment Is more choice to Yahweh than sacrifice. ⁴ Conceited eyes and pretentious heart, The lamp of the wicked, are sin." ⁵ The designs of the industrious lead surely to advantage, Yet all who rush come surely to want." ⁶ The contriving together of treasures by a false tongue Is a vanity whisked away for those seeking death. ⁷ The devastation of the wicked shall turn against them, For they refuse to execute right judgment." ⁸ Devious is the way of a man laden with guilt, Yet spotless is the upright man in his deeds." ⁹ It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop Than share with a quarrelsome wife a house of partnership. ¹⁰ The soul of the wicked man lusts after evil; His associate shall not be shown grace in his eyes. ¹¹ When a mocker is fined, the simple person shall become wise, And when a wise man gains intelligence, he takes in knowledge." ¹² The Righteous One is intelligent of the house of the wicked man And overthrows the wicked into peril. ¹³ Whoever closes up his ear to the outcry of the poor--When he himself also calls out, he shall not be answered." ¹⁴ A gift in concealment mollifies anger, And a bribe in the bosom, strong fury." ¹⁵ The execution of right judgment is a rejoicing to the righteous one, Yet a dismay to those who contrive lawlessness." ¹⁶ The man who strays from the way of intelligence Comes to rest in the assembly of the Rephaim. ¹⁷ The man who loves amusement shall come to want; He who loves wine and oil shall never be rich. ¹⁸ The wicked man is a ransoming shelter for the righteous one, And the treacherous person is given instead of the upright." ¹⁹ It is better to dwell in a wilderness land Than with a quarrelsome and vexatious wife. ²⁰ Coveted treasure and oil are in the homestead of the wise man, Yet the stupid man swallows it all up." ²¹ He who pursues righteousness and benignity Shall find life, righteousness and glory." ²² A wise man ascends against a city of the masterful And brings down the strength of its trust. ²³ He who guards his mouth and his tongue Keeps his soul from distresses. ²⁴ The arrogant and ostentatious man-mocker is his name, The one who acts with raging arrogance." ²⁵ The yearning of the slothful man puts him to death, For his hands refuse to work;" ²⁶ All the day he yearns with yearning, Yet the righteous one gives and does not keep back." ²⁷ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abhorrence; How much more so when such a one brings it with scheming. ²⁸ The witness of lies shall perish, Yet the man who hearkens carefully shall speak with permanent force." ²⁹ A wicked man sets his face with impudence, Yet an upright man, he establishes his way." ³⁰ There is no wisdom, there is no comprehension, And there is no counsel in confronting Yahweh." ³¹ A horse is prepared for the day of battle, Yet the victory belongs to Yahweh."

²² They held the celebration of unleavened cakes seven days with rejoicing; for Yahweh made them rejoice, since He had turned the heart of the king of Assyria around toward them to fortify their hands in the work of the House of Elohim, the Elohim of Israel.

²⁷ Blessed be Yahweh Elohim of our fathers, Who has put such as this into the heart of the king to beautify the House of Yahweh in Jerusalem. ²⁸ And He has stretched out kindness toward me from before the king and his counselors and all the masterful chiefs of the king. So I encouraged myself according to the hand of Yahweh my Elohim on me, and I convened the heads out of Israel to go up with me.

¹¹ `I beseech You, O Lord, let, I pray You, Your ear be attentive unto the prayer of Your servant, and unto the prayer of Your servants, those delighting to fear Your Name; and give prosperity, I pray You, to Your servant to-day, and give him for mercies before this man;' and I have been butler to the king.

⁴ And the king said to me, `For what are you seeking?' and I pray unto the Elohim of the heavens,

¹⁵ You Yourself rent open spring and watercourse; You Yourself dried up the perennial streams.

⁴ Greater than the sounds of mighty waters, Nobler than the breakers of the sea, Is Yahweh noble in the height."

²⁵ He turned their heart to hate His people, To plot against His servants."

⁴⁶ He gave them over to compassions Before all those holding them captive.

³ The sea, it looked and fled; The Jordan, it turned around backward."

⁵ What is it with you, O sea, that you are fleeing, Jordan, that you are turning around backward,

¹ To humanity belong the arrangements of the heart, Yet from Yahweh comes the answer of the tongue."

⁹ A man's heart devises his way, Yet Yahweh establishes his steps."

²⁴ A master's steps are directed by Yahweh; How then can a man understand his way?

¹⁹ Behold Me doing a new thing. Now is it sprouting. Are you not knowing it? Indeed, I am placing a way in the wilderness, tracks in the desolation."

²⁷ Saying to the sinkhole, `Be drained.' And `Your streams I will dry.'"

³⁵ All abiding on the earth are reckoned as naught:According to His will is He doing in the army of the heavens and with those abiding on the earth. And no one will actually clap with his hands and say to Him, "What doest Thou?

¹⁰ and extricates him out of all his afflictions, and gives him favor and wisdom in front of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and constitutes him governor over Egypt and over his whole house."

⁴ And the third pours out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water. And it became blood.

¹² And the sixth pours out his bowl on the great river Euphrates. And its water is dried up that the road of the kings from the orient may be made ready.

⁷ And Yahweh said unto Samuel, `Look not unto his appearance, and unto the height of his stature, for I have rejected him; for [it is] not as man sees--for man looks at the eyes, and Yahweh looks at the heart..

² For he apportions too much to himself in his own eyes To find out his depravity and to hate it.

² All the ways of a man seem spotless to his eyes, Yet it is Yahweh Who regulates the spirits."

²⁵ There is a way that seems straight before a man, Yet its end becomes the ways of death."

⁶ Many a man proclaims, each one, his kindness, Yet a faithful man who can find?

¹² If you say, Behold, we know nothing about this, Does not He Who regulates hearts detect it, And He Who preserves your soul know it, Who will render to a man according to his deeds?

¹² A breed of men that are clean in their own eyes Yet are not washed from their filth;

¹⁰ I Yahweh do search the heart, try the reins, Even to give to each according to his way, According to the fruit of his doings."

¹⁵ And He said to them, "You are those who are justifying yourselves in the sight of men, yet God knows your hearts, for what is high among men is an abomination in the sight of God."

¹¹ The Pharisee, standing, prayed this to himself: 'God, I am thanking you that I am not even as the rest of men, rapacious, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tribute collector." ¹² I am fasting twice of a sabbath. I am taking tithes from all whatever I am acquiring.'

²⁴ Yet Jesus Himself did not entrust Himself to them, because of His knowing all men, ²⁵ for He had no need that anyone should be testifying concerning mankind, for He knew what was in mankind."

³ For if anyone is supposing himself to be anything, being nothing, he is imposing on himself."

²² Now become doers of the word, and not only listeners, beguiling yourselves."

²³ And her children shall I be killing with death, and all the ecclesias shall know that I an He Who is searching the kidneys and hearts. And I will be giving to each of you in accord with your acts."

²² And Samuel said, `Has Yahweh had delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices as [in] hearkening to the voice of Yahweh? lo, hearkening than sacrifice is better; to give attention than fat of rams;"

⁸ Not for your sacrifices shall I reprove you Or for your ascent offerings in front of Me continually.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abhorrence to Yahweh, Yet the prayer of the upright is acceptable to Him."

¹¹ Why, to Me, your many sacrifices?saying is Yahweh. "I am surfeited with ascent approaches of rams, and the fat of fatlings, and in the blood of young bulls and he-lambs and he-goats I do not delight." ¹² In case you are coming to appear before Me--Who seeks this from your hand, to tramp My courts? ¹³ Do not continue to bring a futile approach present. Incense--it is an abhorrence to Me! The new moon and the sabbath, the calling of a meeting--! I cannot bear a fast and a day of restraint!" ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointments are hated by My soul. They become an encumbrance to Me. I am tired of bearing them. ¹⁵ And when you spread your palms to Me, I will obscure My eyes from you. Moreover, in case you are increasing your prayers, there is no hearing by Me. Your hands are full of blood. Amidst your fingers extrudes lawlessness." ¹⁶ Wash yourselves! Purge yourselves! Take away the evil of your actions from in front of My eyes! ¹⁷ Leave off the evil! Learn to be good! Inquire for judgment! Make happy the wronged! Judge the orphan! Contend for the widow!

²¹ Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel, Your burnt-offerings add to your sacrifices, And eat you flesh." ²² For I did not speak with your fathers, Nor did I command them in the day of My bringing them out of the land of Egypt, Concerning the matters of burnt-offering and sacrifice, ²³ But this thing I commanded them, saying:Hearken to My voice, And I have been to you for Elohim, And you--you are to Me for a people, And have walked in all the way that I command you, So that it is well for you."

⁶ For I desire kindness, and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of Elohim rather than ascent approaches."

⁶ With what shall I forestall Yahweh, and be bending to my Elohim of the height? Shall I forestall Him with ascent approaches, with calves a year old? ⁷ Will Yahweh accept thousands of rams, with myriads of watercourses of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my belly for the sin of my soul? ⁸ He has told you, O humanity, what is good; and what is Yahweh requiring from you save to do judgment and love kindness, and to walk meekly with Yahweh your Elohim?

³³ And to be loving Him out of your whole heart, and out of the whole understanding, and out of the whole soul, and out of the whole strength, and to be loving the associate as yourself, is excessively more than all the ascent approaches and the sacrifices."

⁴ In his haughty anger the wicked one is not inquiring at all. There is no Elohim in all his schemes;

¹⁷ Exalted eyes, a false tongue, And hands shedding innocent blood;"

¹³ The fear of Yahweh means to hate evil; Pride and pomp and the way of evil And a mouth of duplicity I hate.

²⁷ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abhorrence; How much more so when such a one brings it with scheming.

¹³ A breed of men--how exalted are their eyes And lifted up are their eyelids!

¹¹ The eyes of the haughty human are low, and prostrate is the highness of mortals, and Yahweh alone is impregnable in that day."

¹⁷ And prostrate is the haughtiness of humanity, and abased is the highness of mortals, and Yahweh alone is impregnable in that day."

¹⁶ And saying is Yahweh, "Inasmuch as haughty are the daughters of Zion, and going with a stretched-out throat and falsifying eyes, to go and trip are they going, and with their feet are they tinkling their anklets."

¹⁴ I am saying to you, this man descended to his home justified, rather than that one, for everyone who is exalting himself shall be humbled, yet he who is humbling himself shall be exalted."

²³ Now he who is doubting if he should be eating is condemned, seeing that it is not out of faith. Now everything which is not out of faith is sin."

⁵ Likewise, younger men may be subject to the elder, yet all wear the servile apron of humility with one another, for God "is resisting the proud, yet is giving grace to the humble."

⁴ A deceitful palm makes destitute, Yet an industrious hand shall enrich."

⁴ The slothful man yearns for a thing, and his soul finds it not, Yet the soul of the industrious is conferred with richness."

²⁹ He who is slow to anger shows great comprehension, Yet he who is short of spirit heightens folly."

²¹ An allotment rashly gained at first Shall not be blessed at last.

²³ You should know, yea know, the condition of your flock; Set your heart upon your droves." ²⁴ For assets do not last for an eon, Nor does a treasure for generation after generation." ²⁵ When the grass is carried away and new verdure is seen, And the herbage of the mountains is gathered in, ²⁶ The he-lambs will supply your clothing, And the he-goats the price of a field;" ²⁷ There will be sufficient goat milk for your nourishment and for your household's nourishment, And the means of life for your maidens."

²² A man who is stingy of eye is rash to get wealth, Yet he does not know that want shall come to him."

²⁸ Let him who steals by no means still be stealing: yet rather let him be toiling, working with his hands at what is good, that he may have to share with one who has need."

¹¹ and that you be ambitious to be quiet, and to be engaged in your own affairs, and to be working with your hands, according as we charge you, ¹² that you may be walking respectably toward those outside and you may have need of nothing.

³⁶ Yet whoever misses me wrongs his soul; All who hate me love death.

² Treasures gained by wickedness shall not benefit, Yet righteousness shall rescue from death."

¹¹ Wealth gained from vanity decreases, Yet one who gets it together by his hands increases it."

¹⁴ Bad, Bad! says the buyer, Yet after his departing, then he boasts."

⁸ He who sows iniquity shall reap sorrow, And the club of his rage shall fail."

⁸ Put futility and the lying word far from me; Destitution or riches do not give to me; Only provide me a meal of my daily dole of bread,

¹¹ A partridge hatching, and not bringing forth, [Is] one making wealth, and not by right, In the midst of his days he does forsake it, And in his latter end--he is a fool."

³¹ Cast from off you all your transgressions, By which you have transgressed, And make to you a new heart, and a new spirit, And why do you die, O house of Israel?

⁹ Now, those intending to be rich are falling into a trial and a trap and the many foolish and harmful desires which are swamping men in extermination and destruction." ¹⁰ For a root of all of the evils is the fondness for money, which some, craving, were led astray from the faith and try themselves on all sides with much pain."

¹¹ who must be gagged, who are subverting whole households, teaching what they must not, on behalf of sordid gain."

³ and in greed, with suave words, they will traffic in you, whose judgment of old is not idling, and their destruction is not nodding."

¹⁶ His toil shall turn back upon his head, And his wrong shall descend on his scalp.

¹⁶ Yahweh is known by the judgment He executes; The wicked are trapped by the deed of His palms. {Chant, Interlude{ "

¹⁸ Yet they themselves wait in ambush for their own blood; They lurk for their own souls. ¹⁹ Such is the end of all who are greedy for gain; It takes away the soul of its possessors.

⁶ Blessings wreathe the head of the righteous, Yet violence is covering over the mouth of the wicked."

²¹ He who pursues righteousness and benignity Shall find life, righteousness and glory."

²² Do not pillage the poor, for he is poor, And do not crush the humble one in the gate." ²³ For Yahweh Himself shall contend their contention, And He will defraud their defrauders of their soul."

²³ Your chiefs are stubborn, and partners of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe, and pursues payments. The orphan they are not judging. And the contention of the widow is not coming to them." ²⁴ Wherefore avers the Lord Yahweh of hosts, the Sturdy One of Israel, "Woe! I shall be comforted over My foes, and avenged on My enemies."

⁹ Stealing, murdering, and committing adultery, And swearing to falsehood, and giving perfume to Baal, And going after other elohims whom you knew not." ¹⁰ And you have come in and stood before Me, In this house on which My name is called, And have said, `We have been delivered,' In order to do all these abominations." ¹¹ A den of burglars has this house, On which My name is called, been in your eyes? Even I, lo, I have seen, an affirmation of Yahweh."

¹⁵ And I have cast you from before My face, As I have cast out all your brethren, The whole seed of Ephraim."

¹⁸ His father--because he used oppression, Did violently Plunder a brother, And that which [is] not good did in the midst of his people, And lo, he is dying in his iniquity."

¹³ And lo, I have smitten My hand, Because of your dishonest gain that you have gained, And for your blood that has been in your midst." ¹⁴ Does your heart stand--are your hands strong, For the days that I am dealing with you? I, Yahweh, have spoken and have done [it]."

⁹ Oh hear this! You heads of the house of Jacob, and captains of the house of Israel, who are abhorring judgment and are perverting all uprightness, ¹⁰ building Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity;" ¹¹ her heads are judging for a bribe, and her priests are directing for a price, and her prophets are divining for money, and on Yahweh they are leaning, saying:Is not Yahweh within us? Evil shall not come on us." ¹² Wherefore, due to you, Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become rubbish heaps, and the mountain of the house fane heights of a wildwood."

³ And he is saying to me, This is the execration which is faring forth over the surface of the entire land, for every thief, henceforth as death doomed shall be visited with vengeance, and every swearer, henceforth as death doomed shall be visited with vengeance." ⁴ I will bring it forth, (averring is Yahweh of hosts), and it enters into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears in My name falsely, and it lodges in the midst of his house, and it consumes it and its timbers and its stones."

⁶ Let no one be seducing you with empty words, for because of these things the indignation of God is coming on the sons of stubbornness."

⁵ And seeing is Yahweh Elohim that much is the evil of humanity in the earth, and every form of the devices of its heart is but evil all its days. ⁶ And regretting is Yahweh Elohim that He made humanity on the earth, and grieving to His heart.

¹² And seeing is Yahweh Elohim the earth, and behold! Ruined is it, for ruining is all flesh its way on the earth.

¹⁴ What is a mortal that he should be purged, Or that one born of a woman should be justified? ¹⁵ If even on His holy ones, He puts no reliance, And the heavens are not purged in His eyes, ¹⁶ How much less man, Who is abhorrent and spoiled, Who is drinking iniquity like water.

² Yahweh, He gazes down from the heavens on the sons of humanity, To see whether there is anyone acting intelligently, Anyone seeking after Elohim." ³ All withdraw aside; together they are spoiled. There is no one doing good; There is not even one.

¹⁵ Whose paths are perverse, And who are devious in their routes."

²⁶ Evil devisings are an abhorrence to Yahweh, Yet the sayings of the pure are pleasantness."

²⁹ See, I found this alone:That the One, Elohim, made humanity upright, Yet they seek many devisings."

³ This is the evil in all that is done under the sun:That one destiny is for all; Moreover the heart of the sons of humanity is full of evil, And ravings are in their heart throughout their life, Yet after it, they are joined to the dead."

¹⁰ Many will purify and whiten themselves and be refined; yet the wicked will be wicked. None of all the wicked shall understand; yet the intelligent are understanding.

⁸ "Happy are the clean in heart, for they shall see God.

³³ Either make the tree ideal and its fruit ideal, or make the tree rotten and its fruit rotten, for by its fruit the tree is known."

⁹ and in nothing discriminates between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith."

³ for you are still fleshly. For where there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly and walking according to man?

² in which once you walked, in accord with the eon of this world, in accord with the chief of the jurisdiction of the air, the spirit now operating in the sons of stubbornness " ³ (among whom we also all behaved ourselves once in the lusts of our flesh, doing the will of the flesh and of the comprehension, and were, in our nature, children of indignation, even as the rest),

¹⁵ All, indeed, is clean to the clean, yet to the defiled and unbelieving nothing is clean, but their mind as well as conscience is defiled."

¹⁴ Who gives Himself for us, that He should be redeeming us from all lawlessness and be cleansing for Himself a people to be about Him, zealous for ideal acts."

³ For we also were once foolish, stubborn, deceived, slaves of various desires and gratifications, leading a life in malice and envy, detestable, hating one another."

⁵ not for works which are wrought in righteousness which we do, but according to His mercy, He saves us, through the bath of renascence and renewal of holy spirit,

²² Having purified your souls, by the obedience of truth, for unfeigned fondness for the brethren, love one another out of a true heart earnestly, ²³ having been regenerated, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, living and permanent,

²⁹ If you should be perceiving that He is just, you know that everyone also who is doing righteousness is begotten of Him."

³ And everyone who has this expectation in Him is purifying himself, according as He is pure."

⁴ A wife of ability is her spouse's crown, Yet she who brings shame is as rottenness in his bones."

¹⁷ Better a ration of greens when love is there Than a battened ox when hatred is with it.

¹ Better is a dried-up morsel when ease is with it Than a house full of sacrifices, with contention."

¹³ A stupid son is woe to his father, And a quarrelsome wife like a persistent leaking."

¹⁹ It is better to dwell in a wilderness land Than with a quarrelsome and vexatious wife.

²⁴ It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop Than share with a quarrelsome wife a house of partnership.

¹⁵ A persistent leaking on a blustery day And a quarrelsome wife--it is equal; ¹⁶ He who stifles her can stifle the wind And can dictate to oil in his right hand.

⁸ `Ask your young men, and they declare to you, and the young men find grace in your eyes, for on a good day we have come; give, I pray you, that which your hand finds, to your servants, and to your son, to David.. <sup>9</sup> And the young men of David come in, and speak unto Nabal according to all these words, in the name of David--and rest. <sup>10</sup> And Nabal answers the servants of David and said, `Who [is] David, and who the son of Jesse? to-day have servants been multiplied who are breaking away each from his master;" ¹¹ and I have taken my bread, and my water, and my flesh, which I slaughtered for my shearers, and have given [it] to men whom I have not known whence they [are]!.

⁴ He devises lawlessness on his bed; He stations himself on a pathway that is not good; He does not reject what is evil.

² Your tongue devises woes, Like a honed razor, you who practice deceit." ³ You love evil rather than good, Falsehood rather than speaking righteousness. {Interlude{ "

⁵ It is good when a man is gracious and obliging; He shall sustain his affairs with right judgment.

⁹ He disperses; he gives to the needy; His righteousness is standing into the future; His horn shall be exalted in glory.

²⁹ Do not machinate evil against your associate, When he is dwelling in trust with you."

¹² The wicked one covets the fastness of other evil men, Yet the root of the righteous is well established."

¹³ Whoever closes up his ear to the outcry of the poor--When he himself also calls out, he shall not be answered."

⁶ For the decadent is speaking decadence, and his heart is devising lawlessness, to execute pollution, and to speak, as to Yahweh, what leads astray, to empty the soul of the famished, and the drink of the thirsty he causes to be lacking." ⁷ And the miser's instruments are evil, and he plans counsels to harm the humble with false sayings, and frustrate the words of the needy, in judgment." ⁸ Yet the patron counsels willingness, and he, in the willingness, is confirmed."

² You who are hating good and loving evil, snatching their skin off them, and their meat off their bones, ³ and who devour the meat of My people, and their skin they strip off them, and their bones they crunch, and spread them, as meat in the pot, and as flesh in the midst of the caldron."

²¹ For from inside, out of the heart of men, are going out evil reasonings, prostitutions, thefts, murders, ²² adulteries, greed, wickedness, guile, wantonness, a wicked eye, calumny, pride, imprudence."

⁶ Now these things became types of us, for us not to be lusters after evil things,

¹³ For the judging is merciless to him who does not exercise mercy. Vaunting is mercy against judging.

¹ Whence are the battles and whence the fightings among you? Are they not hence: from your gratifications warring in your members? ² You are coveting and have not. You are murdering and are jealous, and you can not encounter it. You are fighting and battling, and you have not, because of not requesting." ³ You are requesting and not obtaining, because you are requesting evilly, that you should be spending it on your gratifications." ⁴ Adulterers and adulteresses! Are you not aware that the friendship of this world is enmity with God? Whosoever, then should intend to be a friend of the world is constituted an enemy of God." ⁵ Or are you supposing that the scripture is saying this for naught? Is the spirit which dwells in us longing to envy?

⁴ Lo! the wage of the workers, who mow your country places, which has been withheld by you, is crying, and the imploring of the reapers has entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts." ⁵ You luxuriate on the earth, and squander. You nourish your hearts as in a day of slaughter." ⁶ You convict, you murder the just; he is not resisting you."

¹⁶ for everything that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the ostentation of living, is not of the Father, but is of the world."

³⁴ Yet all Israel who were around them fled at their voice, for they said:Lest the earth swallow us up.

¹¹ Thus all Israel shall hearken and fear, and they shall not again do anything like this evil thing among you.

²¹ Then all the men of his city will pelt him with stones so that he dies. Thus you will eradicate the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear.

⁷ Yet Elohim shall shoot an arrow at them. Suddenly smitings will come on them, ⁸ And they shall stumble by it:their own tongue against them. All seeing them shall bolt away, ⁹ And every human shall fear. Then they shall tell of Elohim's deeds And will contemplate His handiwork.

⁵ The wise one may also hear and add to his education, And the man of understanding may acquire skills--"

⁹ Give reproof to a wise man, and he shall be wiser still; Inform a righteous man, and he shall add to his education."

¹⁴ The heart of the understanding person seeks knowledge, Yet the mouth of the stupid grazes on folly."

¹ He shall seek for a pretext who wishes to be parted from friends; Against all sagacity shall he rail.

¹⁵ The heart of one who understands acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge."

²⁵ You smite a mocker, and a simple man shall become prudent; Reprove one of understanding, and he shall understand more knowledge."

⁵ Now Ananias, hearing these words, falling down, gives up the soul. And great fear came on all those hearing these things."

¹¹ And great fear came on the whole ecclesia and on all those who hear these things. ¹² Now through the hands of the apostles many signs and miracles occurred among the people. And they were all, with one accord, in the portico of Solomon." ¹³ Now of the rest, no one dared to join them, but the people magnify them, ¹⁴ yet, rather, there were added of those believing the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,

⁶ Now these things became types of us, for us not to be lusters after evil things, ⁷ according as they also lust. Nor yet be becoming idolaters, according as some of them, even as it is written, "Seated are the people to eat and drink, and they rise to sport." ⁸ Nor yet may we be committing prostitution, according as some of them commit prostitution, and fall in one day twenty-three thousand." ⁹ Nor yet may we be putting the Lord on trial, according as some of them put Him on trial, and perished by serpents." ¹⁰ Nor yet be murmuring even as some of them murmur, and perished by the exterminator." ¹¹ Now all this befalls them typically. Yet it was written for our admonition, to whom the consummations of the eons have attained."

¹ Therefore we must more exceedingly be heeding what is being heard, lest at some time we may be drifting by." ² For if the word spoken through messengers came to be confirmed, and every transgression and disobedience obtained a fair reward, ³ how shall we be escaping when neglecting a salvation of such proportions which, obtaining a beginning through the speaking of the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who hear Him,

²⁸ Anyone repudiating Moses' law is dying without pity on the testimony of two or three witnesses. ²⁹ Of how much worse punishment, are you supposing, will he be counted worthy who tramples on the Son of God, and deems the blood of the covenant by which he is hallowed contaminating, and outrages the spirit of grace?

¹³ And in that hour occurred a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city falls, and there were seven thousand names of the men killed in the earthquake. And the rest became affrighted and give glory to the God of heaven."

²⁹ And coming is it, as Yahweh Elohim wrecks all the cities of the basin, remembering also is the Elohim Abraham and is sending Lot from the midst of the overturning when Yahweh overturns the cities in which Lot dwelt.

³ I myself have seen the foolish man taking root, And I reviled his homestead suddenly.

¹⁵ He leans on his house, but it does not stand; He holds fast to it, but it does not stand firm.

¹⁴ He shall be pulled away from his tent where his trust had dwelt; And it makes him march to the king of decay. ¹⁵ It shall tabernacle in his tent which no longer is his; Sulfur shall be sifted about his homestead. ¹⁶ From beneath, his roots dry up, And from above, his harvest branches are snipped off. ¹⁷ His remembrance perishes from the earth, And he has no name on the face of the open place. ¹⁸ They shall thrust him from light into darkness, And they shall chase him from the habitance. ¹⁹ For him there is no posterity and no progeny among his people, And there will be no survivor in the places of his sojourning. ²⁰ Westerners are appalled at his day of ruin, And easterners hold back in horror. ²¹ Surely these were the tabernacles of an iniquitous man, And this was the place of one who knew not El.

²⁸ For you are saying, Where is the house of the tyrant, And where are the tent tabernacles of the wicked? ²⁹ Have you not asked those passing on the way, And do you not admit their evidence, ³⁰ That the evil one is kept back in the day of calamity; In the day of rage they are escorted safely?

¹³ This is the portion of a wicked person from El And the allotment terrifiers procure from Him Who Suffices. ¹⁴ However many are his sons, for them is the sword, And his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. ¹⁵ With the death plague they shall entomb his survivors, And his widows shall not lament. ¹⁶ If he piles up silver like soil And makes ready clothing like clay, ¹⁷ He shall make it ready, yet the righteous one shall put it on, And the innocent one shall apportion the silver. ¹⁸ He builds his house like a moth's cocoon, And like a booth that a field-keeper makes. ¹⁹ He shall lie down rich, yet he may not do so again; When he uncloses his eyes it shall not be there. ²⁰ Decadent things shall overtake him by day; A whirlwind shall steal him away at night. ²¹ The east wind shall carry him off so that he is gone, And it shall toss him away in a tempest from his place. ²² One shall fling stones against him and not spare As he runs away, yea away from his hand. ²³ One shall slap his palms at him And hiss him away from his place.

³⁵ I have seen a wicked one, a terrifier, Elevating himself like a flourishing native tree." ³⁶ Yet I passed by, and behold, he was not there, And I sought him, and he was not found."

⁵ But El, He shall break you down permanently; He shall rake you up and tear you out from your tent, And He will root you out from the land of the living. {Interlude{ "

⁴³ Whoever is wise, let him observe these things; Let them consider the benignities of Yahweh."

³ The integrity of the upright shall guide them, Yet the subversion of the treacherous shall devastate them." ⁴ Wealth is no benefit in the day of rage, Yet righteousness shall rescue from death." ⁵ The righteousness of the flawless one shall make his way straight, Yet by his wickedness shall the wicked one fall."

⁶ Righteousness, it shall preserve one whose way is flawless, Yet wickedness, it shall overthrow the sinner."

¹¹ The house of the wicked, it shall be exterminated, Yet the tent of the upright, it shall burst into bud."

³² The wicked man is tripped up by his evil, Yet the righteous one takes refuge in his integrity."

⁹ He who is wise will also understand these things. These being understood, he will also acknowledge them. For the ways of Yahweh are upright, and the righteous will walk in them. Yet the transgressors shall be stumbled in them."

¹¹ I overturn among you as Elohim overturned Sodom and Gomorrah, and you are becoming as a wooden poker rescued from the burning. Yet you do not return unto Me, (averring is Yahweh)."

⁹ Woe to him gaining an evil gain for his house in order to place his nest in the height, to be rescued from the clutch of evil!" ¹⁰ You counsel shame for your house to cut away many peoples, and are sinning against your soul, ¹¹ for the stone from the sidewall shall cry out, and the knot from the timber shall answer it." ¹² Woe to him who is building a city by blood, and establishes a town by iniquity!"

⁵ But not in the majority of them does God delight, for they were strewn along in the wilderness."

⁴ For if God spares not sinning messengers, but thrusting them into the gloomy caverns of Tartarus, gives them up to be kept for chastening judging;" ⁵ and spares not the ancient world, but guards Noah, an eighth, a herald of righteousness, bringing a deluge on the world of the irreverent;" ⁶ and condemns the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, reducing them to cinders by an overthrow, having placed them as an example for those about to be irreverent:" ⁷ and rescues the just man, Lot, harried by the behavior of the dissolute in their wantonness" ⁸ (for the just man dwelling among them, in observing and hearing from day to day, tormented his just soul by their lawless acts), ⁹ the Lord is acquainted with the rescue of the devout out of trial, yet is keeping the unjust for chastening in the day of judging,

⁶ through which the then world, being deluged by water, perished." ⁷ Yet the heavens now, and the earth, by the same word, are stored with fire, being kept for the day of the judging and destruction of irreverent men."

⁷ In case there should be among you a needy person, one of your brothers within one of your gates in your land that Yahweh your Elohim is giving to you, you shall neither make your heart rigid nor shut your hand from your needy brother. ⁸ Rather you shall open, yea open your hand to him and let him give security, yea security sufficient for his lack that is lacking to him. ⁹ Guard yourself lest there should be in your heart the decadent word, saying:The seventh year is near, the year of the release, so that your eye is evil toward your needy brother, and you give him nothing. Then he may call out to Yahweh concerning you, and it will be held as a sin against you. ¹⁰ You shall give, yea give to him, and your heart shall not feel bad at your giving to him. For owing to this matter Yahweh your Elohim shall bless you in all your work and in every undertaking of your hand. ¹¹ Since the needy shall not leave off from being within the land, therefore I am instructing you, saying:You shall open, yea open your hand to your brother, to your humble and to your needy in your land.

¹ And there is a great cry of the people and their wives, concerning their brethren the Jews, ² yea, there are who are saying, `Our sons, and our daughters, we--are many, and we receive corn, and eat, and live.. <sup>3</sup> And there are who are saying, `Our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses, we are pledging, and we receive corn for the famine.. ⁴ And there are who are saying, `We have borrowed money for the tribute of the king, [on] our fields, and our vineyards;" ⁵ and now, as the flesh of our brethren [is] our flesh, as their sons [are] our sons, and lo, we are subduing our sons and our daughters for servants, and there are of our daughters subdued, and our hand has no might, and our fields and our vineyards [are] to others..

¹³ also, my lap I have shaken, and I say, `Thus does Elohim shake out every man, who does not perform this thing, from his house, and from his labor; yea, thus is he shaken out and empty;' and all the assembly say, `Amen,' and praise Yahweh; and the people do according to this thing.

⁴¹ They implored, yet there was no salvation; They called to Yahweh, yet He would not answer them."

⁴ Their venom is like the venom of a serpent, Like a deaf cobra that has contracted its ear,

²⁸ Then they shall call me, yet I shall not answer; They shall seek me early, yet shall not find me."

²⁷ He who gives to the destitute person shall have no lack, Yet for him who obscures his eyes from them are many curses."

⁶ Is not this the fast that I am choosing,saying is Yahweh:"To unloose all the hindrances of wickedness, and to let loose the bunches of the slider bar, and to send the bruised away free, and every slider bar shall you pull away? ⁷ Is it not to share your bread with the famishing, and the humble, brought down, shall you bring home? In case you are seeing the naked, then you cover him with a cloak? And from your own flesh you are not obscuring yourself? ⁸ Then your light shall be rent as the dawn, and your longevity with haste shall sprout. And there goes before you your righteousness. And the glory of Yahweh shall gather about you." ⁹ Then you will call, and Yahweh will answer, you will implore, and He will say, "Behold Me!You should take away from your midst the slider bar, and the pointing of the finger and speaking lawlessness,

¹⁶ And--you turn back, and pollute My name, and you cause each his man-servant and each his maid-servant, whom he had sent forth free, (at their pleasure,) to return, and you subdue them to be to you for men-servants and for maid-servants." ¹⁷ `Therefore, thus said Yahweh:You have not hearkened unto Me to proclaim freedom, each to his brother, and each to his neighbor; lo, I am proclaiming to you liberty--an affirmation of Yahweh--unto the sword, unto the pestilence, and unto the famine, and I have given you for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth."

⁹ Thus speaks Yahweh of hosts, saying:Judge with true judgment, and with kindness and compassion deal each man with his brother, ¹⁰ and you must not extort from a widow or orphan or the sojourner or the humble. And you must not devise evil, each man to his brother, in your heart." ¹¹ Yet they are refusing to attend, and they are giving a stubborn shoulder, and their ears they make heavy against hearing, ¹² and their hearts they make corundum against hearing the law and the words which Yahweh of hosts sent by His spirit, by the hand of the former prophets. And great wrath is coming from Yahweh of hosts." ¹³ And it is coming, just as he calls and they did not hear, so are they calling, and I am not hearing, says Yahweh of hosts."

¹⁴ For if you should be forgiving men their offenses, your heavenly Father also will be forgiving you."

² for with what judgment you are judging, shall you be judged, and with what measure you are measuring, shall it be measured to you."

³⁰ Yet he would not, but, coming away, he casts him into jail, till he may pay what he is owing." ³¹ Then his fellow slaves, perceiving what is occurring, were tremendously sorry, and coming, they elucidate to their lord all that is occurring." ³² Then his lord, calling him to him, is saying to him, 'Wicked slave! That entire debt I remit to you, since you entreat me." ³³ Was it not binding on you also to be merciful to your fellow slave, as I also am merciful to you?'" ³⁴ And, being indignant, his lord gives him up to the tormentors till he may pay all he is owing him." ³⁵ Thus shall My heavenly Father also be doing to you, if each one should not be pardoning his brother, from your hearts."

⁴¹ Then shall He be declaring to those also at His left, 'Go from Me, you cursed, into the fire eonian, made ready for the Adversary and his messengers." ⁴² For I hunger and you do not give Me to eat; I thirst and you do not give Me drink; ⁴³ a stranger was I and you did not take Me in; naked and you did not clothe Me; infirm and in jail and you did not visit Me.' ⁴⁴ Then shall they also be answering, saying, 'Lord, when did we perceive you hungering or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or infirm, or in jail, and we did not serve you?'" ⁴⁵ Then shall He be answering them, saying, 'Verily, I am saying to you, In as much as you do it not to one of these, the least, neither do you it to Me.'" ⁴⁶ And these shall be coming away into chastening eonian, yet the just into life eonian."

²⁵ From which time the householder should be roused and latch the door, and you should be beginning to stand outside and to be knocking at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!' and answering, he will be declaring to you, 'I am not acquainted with you! Whence are you?'"

⁵⁷ Now, crying with a loud voice, they pressed their ears and rush on him with one accord."

¹³ For the judging is merciless to him who does not exercise mercy. Vaunting is mercy against judging. ¹⁴ What is the benefit, my brethren, if anyone should be saying he has faith, yet may have no works? That faith can not save him." ¹⁵ If a brother or sister should be belonging to the naked, and lacking nourishment for the day, ¹⁶ yet someone from among you may be saying to them, "Go away in peace, be warmed and satisfied,yet you may not be giving them the requisites for the body, what is the benefit?

²⁰ And say, moreover, `Behold! Your servant Jacob comes after us.' For,said he, "a propitiatory shelter am I making before his face with the present offering which is going before me, and afterward will I see his face. Perhaps he will lift up my face.

¹¹ And saying to them is Israel, their father, "If so, indeed, do this: Take from the pruned fruit trees of the land in your vessels, and take down to the man a present offering, a little balm and a little honey, perfume and labdanum, pistachio nuts and almonds.

³⁵ And David receives from her hand that which she has brought to him, and to her he has said, `Go up in peace to your house; see, I have hearkened to your voice, and accept your face..

⁸ A bribe is like a stone for favor in the eyes of its grand possessor; Wherever it is present it proceeds effectively.

²³ A wicked man takes a bribe from the bosom To turn aside the paths of right judgment.

¹⁶ A man's gift widens the way for him, And guides him before the great."

⁶ Many beseech a patron to his face, And everyone is the associate of a man with gifts."

³ Yet you, doing alms, let not your left hand know what your right is doing, ⁴ so that your alms may be in hiding, and your Father, Who is observing in hiding, will be paying you."

¹² For I made a way of escape for the humble who implored, And the orphan and him who had no helper. ¹³ The blessing of the one perishing came on me, And I caused the heart of the widow to jubilate. ¹⁴ I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; My right judgment was as a robe and a turban. ¹⁵ I became eyes to the blind, And feet to the lame was I. ¹⁶ I was father to the needy ones, And the contention of him I knew not, I would investigate it. ¹⁷ I would break the fangs of the iniquitous And would fling the prey from his teeth.

⁸ I delight to do what is acceptable to You, my Elohim, And Your law is in the midst of my internal parts."

¹ {Praise Yah{ Happy is the man who fears Yahweh; In His instructions he very much delights.

¹⁶ In Your statutes am I reveling; I am not forgetting Your word.

⁹² Unless Your law had been my delectation, Then I would have perished in my humiliation."

²⁰ Why should you be intoxicated, my son, by a strange woman And embrace the bosom of a foreigner?

²⁹ A stronghold for the flawless one is the way of Yahweh, Yet a dismay to the contrivers of lawlessness."

¹² The Righteous One is intelligent of the house of the wicked man And overthrows the wicked into peril.

¹² I know that there is no good for them Save to rejoice and to achieve good in one's life;

⁵ You come upon the elated and the doer of righteousness. In Your ways are they remembering You. Behold! You are wroth when we are sinning. Against You from the eon also are we transgressing.

²³ And then shall I be avowing to them that 'I never knew you! Depart from Me, workers of lawlessness!'"

⁴¹ The Son of Mankind shall be dispatching His messengers, and they shall be culling out of His kingdom all the snares and those doing lawlessness, ⁴² and they shall be casting them into a furnace of fire. There shall be lamentation and gnashing of teeth.

²⁷ He also will be declaring: 'I am saying to you, I am not acquainted with you! Whence are you? Withdraw from me, all workers of injustice!'" ²⁸ There will be lamentation and gnashing of teeth, whenever you should be seeing Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, yet you cast outside."

³⁴ Jesus is saying to them, "My food is that I should be doing the will of Him Who sends Me, and should be perfecting His work."

²² For I am gratified with the law of God as to the man within,

¹⁴ Like the flock, they are set for the unseen; Death, it shall graze on them. The upright shall sway over them in the morning; Their form is for decay, the unseen their residence."

⁵ As for those who turn aside to their tortuous ways, May Yahweh banish them with the contrivers of lawlessness. Peace be on Israel."

¹⁸ For she slips down to death with her house And her routes to the Rephaim; ¹⁹ All who enter it shall not return, Nor shall they overtake the paths of life."

²⁶ For many are the mortally wounded she has cast down, And plentiful are all those killed by her." ²⁷ Her house is a road to the unseen, One descending to the chambers of death."

¹⁸ But he does not know that the Rephaim are there, That those she has called are in the depths of the unseen."

²⁰ He who walks with the wise becomes wise, Yet he who associates with the stupid is imperiled."

⁶ and those turned away from after Yahweh, who do not seek Yahweh, nor inquire of Him."

¹⁹ Now this is the judging: that the light has come into the world, and men love the darkness rather than the light, for their acts were wicked." ²⁰ For everyone who is committing bad things is hating the light and is not coming to the light, lest his acts may be exposed."

¹ And you, being dead to your offenses and sins,

⁴ For it is impossible for those once enlightened, besides tasting the celestial gratuity and becoming partakers of holy spirit, ⁵ and tasting the ideal declaration of God, besides the powerful deeds of the impending eon, ⁶ and falling aside, to be renewing them again to repentance while crucifying for themselves the Son of God again and holding Him up to infamy."

²⁶ For at our sinning voluntarily after obtaining the recognition of the truth, it is no longer leaving a sacrifice concerned with sins, ²⁷ but a certain fearful waiting for judging and fiery jealousy, about to be eating the hostile."

³⁸ Now My "just one by faith shall be living,and "If he should ever be shrinking, My soul is not delighting in him."

²¹ For it were better for them not to have recognized the way of righteousness, than, recognizing it, to go back to what was behind, from the holy precept given over to them." ²² Now that in the true proverb has befallen them: "A cur turning to its own vomit,and "A bathed sow to her wallowing in the mire."

¹⁹ Out of us they come, but they were not of us, for if they were of us, they would have remained with us. But it was that they may be manifested that they are not all of us. "

¹² These are the reefs in your love feasts, carousing with you fearlessly, shepherding themselves; waterless clouds carried aside by winds; trees that are sear, unfruitful, twice dying, uprooted;"

¹⁰ Lest aliens should surfeit themselves on your vigor And on your grievous labors in the house of a foreigner, ¹¹ And you have anguish in your latter days When your flesh and your brawn are exhausted,

²⁰ Coveted treasure and oil are in the homestead of the wise man, Yet the stupid man swallows it all up."

²¹ For the carouser and the gluttonous man shall become destitute, And slumber shall clothe one in tatters."

¹³ And, after not many days, gathering all together, the younger son travels into a far country and there dissipates his estate, living profligately." ¹⁴ Now, he spending all, a severe famine occurred in that country, and he begins to be in want." ¹⁵ And, going, he was joined to one of the citizens of that country, and he sends him into his fields to graze hogs." ¹⁶ And he yearned to be satisfied with the little carob pods which the hogs ate, and no one gave to him."

²⁴ And he shouting, said, 'Father Abraham, be merciful to me, and send Lazarus that he should be dipping the tip of his finger in water and cooling my tongue, for I am pained in this flame.'" ²⁵ Now Abraham said, 'Child, be reminded that you got your good things in your life, and Lazarus likewise evil things. Yet now here he is being consoled, yet you are in pain."

⁶ Yet she who is a prodigal, though living, is dead."

⁴ traitors, rash, conceited, fond of their own gratification rather than fond of God;"

⁸ The righteous one is extricated from distress, And the wicked one shall come in his stead."

³ For I, Yahweh, am your Elohim, The Holy One of Israel, your Redeemer. And I give Egypt for your shelter; Ethiopia and Seba in your stead." ⁴ You are more precious than riches, in My eyes. Glorified are you, and I, I love you. And I will give humanity in your stead, and folkstems in your soul's stead."

⁴ Surely our illnesses has He borne, and our pains--He was burdened with them. Yet we account Him touched, smitten by the Elohim and humbled." ⁵ Yet He was wounded because of our transgressions, and crushed because of our depravities. The discipline for our welfare was on Him, and by His welts there is healing for us."

⁸ For not as My devices are your devices, and not as your ways are My ways,averring is Yahweh." ⁹ For as the heavens are loftier than the earth, so are My ways loftier than your ways, and my devices than your devices."

¹⁸ seeing that Christ also, for our sakes, once died concerning sins, the just for the sake of the unjust, that He may be leading us to God; being put to death, indeed, in flesh, yet vivified in spirit,

⁶ I said, O that I had pinions like a dove; I would fly away and tabernacle in serenity." ⁷ Behold, I would bolt away afar; I would lodge in the wilderness. {Interlude{ "

⁵ Woe to me, for I sojourn in Meshech; I tabernacle among the tents of Kedar." ⁶ Long enough for itself has my soul tabernacled With a people hating peace.

⁹ It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop Than share with a quarrelsome wife a house of partnership.

² Who does give me in a wilderness A lodging-place of travellers? And I leave my people, and go from them, For all of them [are] adulterers, An assembly of treacherous ones."

¹⁵ The estate he has swallowed down, he shall vomit it up; El shall evict it from his belly.

¹⁸ He must return the fruit of his labor and not swallow it down, And in the estate of his commerce, he has no enjoyment.

⁵ You are arranging a table before me in front of my foes; You have sleeked my head with oil; My cup is satiated.

³ Wealth and riches are in his house, And his righteousness is standing into the future."

²² The blessing of Yahweh, it enriches, And He shall not add grief to it."

⁶ The house of the righteous man contains great assets, Yet the income of the wicked person brings on trouble."

¹⁹ Moreover, concerning any man to whom the One, Elohim, gives riches and substance, And gives him power to eat of it and to obtain his portion and to rejoice in his toil, This good, it is a gift of Elohim."

¹¹ Wisdom is good with an allotment And an advantage to those seeing the sun.

¹⁹ The making of bread is for mirth, And wine gives rejoicing to life, While silver answers for everything."

⁸ And ten men have been found among them, and they say unto Ishmael, `Do not put us to death, for we have things hidden in the field--wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey.' And he forbears, and has not put them to death in the midst of their brethren."

¹⁹ Do not hoard for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and corrosion are causing them to disappear, and where thieves are tunneling and stealing." ²⁰ Yet hoard for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor corrosion are causing them to disappear, and where thieves are not tunneling nor stealing;"

³ For the stupid, getting their torches, got no oil with them, ⁴ yet the prudent got oil in the crocks with their torches.

⁸ Now the stupid said to the prudent, 'Give us of your oil, for our torches are going out.'"

⁴⁵ The good man out of the good treasure of his heart is bringing forth that which is good, and the wicked man out of the wicked treasure of his heart is bringing forth that which is wicked, for out of the superabundance of the heart his mouth is speaking."

¹⁴ Now, he spending all, a severe famine occurred in that country, and he begins to be in want."

¹ Now He said to His disciples also, "A certain man, who was rich, had an administrator, and this man was accused to him by an adversary as dissipating his possessions."

¹⁹ Now a certain man was rich and he dressed in purple and cambric, daily making merry splendidly." ²⁰ Now there was a certain poor man named Lazarus, who had been cast at his portal, having ulcers, ²¹ and yearning to be satisfied from the scraps which are falling from the rich man's table. But the curs also, coming, licked his ulcers." ²² Now the poor man came to die and he is carried away by the messengers into Abraham's bosom. Now the rich man also died, and was entombed." ²³ And in the unseen, lifting up his eyes, existing in torments, he is seeing Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom."

⁹ An abhorrence to Yahweh is the way of the wicked one, Yet the one pursuing righteousness He loves."

⁴ The consequence of humility is fear of Yahweh, Riches and glory and life."

¹ Hearken to Me, pursuers of righteousness! And seekers of Yahweh! Look to the rock whence you were hewn, and to the pierced cistern out of which you were picked."

³ And we shall know--we shall pursue to know Yahweh; as the dawn is prepared we shall find Him, and He will come to us as a downpour, as the latter rain and the former rain of the land."

⁶ "Happy are those who are hungering and thirsting for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

⁷ to those, indeed, who by endurance in good acts are seeking glory and honor and incorruption, life eonian;" ⁸ yet to those of faction and stubborn, indeed, as to the truth, yet persuaded to injustice, indignation and fury, ⁹ affliction and distress, on every human soul which is effecting evil, both of the Jew first and of the Greek, ¹⁰ yet glory and honor and peace to every worker of good, both to the Jew first, and to the Greek."

¹⁹ Consequently, then, we are pursuing that which makes for peace and that which is for edification of one another."

⁵⁸ So that, my beloved brethren, become settled, unmovable, superabounding in the work of the Lord always, being aware that your toil is not for naught in the Lord."

¹² Not that I already obtained, or am already perfected. Yet I am pursuing, if I may be grasping also that for which I was grasped also by Christ Jesus."

²¹ Yet be testing all, retaining the ideal."

¹¹ Now you, O man of God, flee from these things: yet pursue righteousness, devoutness, faith, love, with endurance, suffering, and meekness."

²² Now youthful desires flee: yet pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with all who are invoking the Lord out of a clean heart."

⁷ I have contended the ideal contest. I have finished my career. I have kept the faith. ⁸ Furthermore, there is reserved for me the wreath of righteousness, which the Lord, the just Judge, will be paying to me in that day; yet not to me only, but also to all who love His advent."

¹⁴ Pursue peace with all, and holiness, apart from which no one shall be seeing the Lord;"

⁷ that the testing of your faith, much more precious than gold which is perishing, yet, being tested by fire, may be found for applause and glory and honor at the unveiling of Jesus Christ,

⁶ And the king goes, and his men, to Jerusalem, unto the Jebusite, the inhabitant of the land, and they speak to David, saying, `You do not come in hither, except you turn aside the blind and the lame;' saying, `David does not come in hither.. ⁷ And David captures the fortress of Zion, it [is] the city of David. ⁸ And David said on that day, `Any one smiting the Jebusite, (let him go up by the watercourse), and the lame and the blind--the hated of David's soul,' --because the blind and lame say, `He does not come into the house.. ⁹ And David dwells in the fortress, and calls it--City of David, and David builds round about, from Millo and inward,

¹⁶ And a wise woman calls out of the city, `Hear, hear; say, I pray you, unto Joab, Come near hither, and I speak unto you.. <sup>17</sup> And he comes near unto her, and the woman said, `Are you Joab?' and he said, `I [am].' And she said to him, `Hear the words of your handmaid;' and he said, `I am hearing.. <sup>18</sup> and she speaks, saying, `They spoke often in former times, saying, Let them diligently ask at Abel, and so they finished. ¹⁹ I [am] of the peaceable--faithful ones of Israel; you are seeking to destroy a city, and a mother in Israel; why do you swallow up the inheritance of Yahweh? ²⁰ And Joab answers and said, `Far be it--far be it from me; I do not swallow up nor destroy. <sup>21</sup> The matter [is] not so; for a man of the hill-country of Ephraim--Sheba son of Bichri his name--has lifted up his hand against the king, against David; give you up him by himself, and I go away from the city.' And the woman said unto Joab, `Lo, his head is cast unto you over the wall.. ²² And the woman comes unto all the people in her wisdom, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bichri, and cast [it] unto Joab, and he blows with a trumpet, and they are scattered from the city, each to his tents, and Joab has turned back to Jerusalem unto the king.

⁵ A wise master is one with strength, And a man of knowledge is resolute with vigor;"

¹⁹ Wisdom itself gives more strength to the wise man Than ten authorities who are in a city.

¹³ I also saw this wisdom under the sun, And it seemed great to me:" ¹⁴ There was a small city with only a few mortals in it, And a great king came against it and surrounded it, And he built great siege works against it." ¹⁵ Now a man was available in it, provident and wise, And he would have provided escape for the city by his wisdom, Yet not one person remembered that provident man." ¹⁶ So I said, Better is wisdom than mastery, Yet the wisdom of a provident man is despised, And his words are no longer hearkened to." ¹⁷ The words of wise men, hearkened to in rest, Are better than the outcry of a ruler among the stupid." ¹⁸ Wisdom is better than implements of attack, Yet one sinner destroys much good."

¹⁹ In the multiplying of words, transgression does not halt, Yet he who keeps back his lips is intelligent."

¹³ By the transgression of his lips the evil one is entrapped, Yet the righteous one shall come forth from distress."

³ He who constricts his mouth guards his soul; He who distends his lips, it is catastrophe for him."

²⁷ One who knows knowledge keeps back on his sayings, And the man of comprehension is cool of spirit." ²⁸ Even a fool who keeps silence is reckoned wise; He who closes up his lips has understanding.

²¹ Death and life lie in the hand of the tongue, And they who love to use it must eat its fruit."

²⁶ If anyone is seeming to be a ritualist, not bridling his tongue, but seducing his heart, the ritual of this one is vain,

² For we all are tripping much. If anyone is not tripping in word, this one is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also." ³ Now if we are thrusting the horses' bits into their mouths, so that they are yielding to us, we are steering their whole body also with it." ⁴ Lo! the ships also, being of such proportions, and driven by hard winds, are being steered by the least rudder, wherever the impulse of the helmsman is intending." ⁵ Thus the tongue, also, is a little member and is grandiloquent. Lo! What amount of fire is kindling what amount of material!" ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of injustice. The tongue is constituted among our members that which is spotting the whole body, and setting the wheel of our lineage aflame, and is set aflame by Gehenna." ⁷ For every nature, both of wild beasts and flying creatures, both of reptiles and those of the salt sea, is tamed and has been tamed by human nature." ⁸ Yet the tongue can no man tame - a turbulent evil, distended with death-carrying venom." ⁹ With it we are blessing the Lord and Father, and with it we are cursing men who have come to be in accord with God's likeness." ¹⁰ Out of the same mouth is coming forth blessing and cursing. There is no need, my brethren, for this to become thus." ¹¹ No spring out of the same hole is venting the sweet and the bitter. ¹² No fig tree, my brethren, can produce olives, nor a grapevine figs. Thus neither does brine produce sweet water." ¹³ Who is wise and an adept among you? Let him show his works by an ideal behavior in meekness of wisdom.

⁵ When Haman saw that Mordecai was not bowing down nor prostrating himself before him, Haman was filled with fury. ⁶ But it was despicable in his eyes to lay hand on Mordecai alone (for they had told him about Mordecai's people); so Haman sought out to exterminate all the Jews, Mordecai's people, who were in the entire kingdom of Xerxes.

¹ Happy is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Who neither stands in the way of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of mockers.

²² How long, O simple ones, shall you love simplicity, And mockers covet their mocking, And the stupid hate knowledge?

¹⁸ Pride goes before a breaking, And a haughty spirit before a stumbling."

¹² The heart of a man is haughty before a breaking, Yet humility comes before glory."

²⁹ Judgments are prepared for mockers And beatings for the body of the stupid.

⁸ The end of a matter is better than its beginning; A long-suffering spirit is better than a haughty spirit. ⁹ Do not be rash to be vexed in your spirit, For vexation rests in the bosom of the stupid."

⁶ We hear of the pomp of Moab. Exceedingly proud is his pride, and his pomp and his rage. Wherefore his pretenses."

²⁹ We have heard of the arrogance of Moab, Exceeding proud! His haughtiness, and his arrogance, And his pride, and the height of his heart,

¹⁶ Then Herod, perceiving that he was scoffed at by the magi, was very furious, and, dispatching, he massacred all the boys in Bethlehem and in all its boundaries, from two years and below, according to the time which he ascertains exactly from the magi.

⁶ Go to the ant, O slothful one; See its ways and be wise;" ⁷ Note that there is no captain for it, Superintendent or ruler;" ⁸ Yet it is preparing its bread in summer; It hoards its food at harvest. ⁹ How long shall you lie down, O slothful one? When shall you rise from your sleep? ¹⁰ A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands, to lie at rest, ¹¹ And your destitution shall come like a wayfarer, And your lack like a man with a shield."

²⁴ The hand of the industrious shall rule, Yet an indolent man shall become tributary."

²⁷ The indolent hunter does not singe his game, Yet the wealth of an industrious man is held precious."

¹⁹ The way of a slothful man is like a hedge of prickly nightshade, Yet the path of the upright is a highway."

²⁴ The slothful man buries his hand into the dinner-bowl, Yet he does not bring it back to his mouth."

⁴ In autumn the slothful man does not plow; In harvest time he shall be begging, but there will be nothing."

¹³ The slothful man says:There is a lion outdoors; I shall be murdered in the middle of the square.

³⁰ I passed by the field of the slothful man, And by the vineyard of the man who lacked heart understanding, ³¹ And behold, all of it came up with sting nettles, Prickly acanthus covered its surface, And its barrier-wall of stones was pulled down." ³² Then I myself set my heart on what I was perceiving; I took admonition from what I saw: ³³ A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands, to lie at rest, ³⁴ And your destitution will come like a wayfarer, And your lack like a man with a shield."

¹³ The slothful man says, There is a black lion in the road, A lion in the square!"

¹⁶ The slothful man is wiser in his own eyes Than seven men who reply with discretion.

²⁶ Now, answering, his lord said to him, 'Wicked and slothful slave! You were aware that I am reaping where I do not sow, and gathering whence I do not scatter."

²⁶ The entire day he is generous and obliging, And his seed becomes a blessing."

⁴² To him who requests you, give; and from him who wants to borrow from you, you may not turn.

³⁰ Now you, be giving to everyone who is requesting, and from him who is taking away what is yours be not demanding it." ³¹ And, according as you are wanting that men may be doing to you, you also be doing to them likewise." ³² And if you are loving those loving you, what thanks is it to you? For sinners also are loving those loving them." ³³ And if you should be doing good to those doing good to you, what thanks is it to you? For sinners also are doing the same." ³⁴ And if you should ever be lending to those from whom you are expecting to get back, what thanks is it to you? For sinners also are lending to sinners, that they may get back the equivalent." ³⁵ Moreover, be loving your enemies, and be doing good, and be lending, expecting nothing from them, and your wages will be vast in the heavens, and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked." ³⁶ Become, then, pitiful, according as your Father also is pitiful."

³³ I covet no one's silver or gold or vesture." ³⁴ You know that these hands subserve my needs, and of those who are with me." ³⁵ All I intimate to you, that, thus toiling, you must be supporting the infirm. Besides, remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'Happy is it to give rather than to get.'"

⁷ But, even as you are superabounding in everything - in faith and word and knowledge and all diligence and the love that flows out of you into us - that you may be superabounding in this grace also." ⁸ I am not saying this as an injunction, but, through the diligence of others, testing also the genuineness of this love of yours." ⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, being rich, because of you He became poor, that you, by His poverty, should be rich."

⁹ according as it is written, He scatters, He gives to the drudges, His righteousness remains for the eon." ¹⁰ Now may He Who is supplying seed to the sower, and bread for food, be furnishing and multiplying your seed and be making the product of your righteousness grow, ¹¹ being enriched in everything, for all the generosity, which is producing through us thanksgiving to God, ¹² for the dispensation of this ministry not only is replenishing the wants of the saints, but is superabounding also through much thanksgiving, to God, ¹³ through the testedness of this dispensation, glorifying God at the subjection of your avowal to the evangel of Christ, and in the generosity of the contribution for them and for all, ¹⁴ and in their petition for you, longing to be acquainted with you, because of the transcendent grace of God on you."

⁵ For neither did we at any time become flattering in expression, according as you are aware; neither with a pretense for greed, God is witness;" ⁶ neither seeking glory from men, neither from you, nor from others, when we could be a burden as Christ's apostles." ⁷ But we became gentle in your midst, as a nurse should be cherishing her own children." ⁸ Thus being ardently attached to you, we are delighting to share with you not only the evangel of God, but our own souls also, because you came to be beloved by us." ⁹ For you remember, brethren, our toil and labor: working night and day so as not to be burdensome to any of you, we herald to you the evangel of God."

¹² and I say, Now do the Philistines come down unto me to Gilgal, and the face of Yahweh I have not appeased; and I force myself, and cause the burnt-offering to ascend.. ¹³ And Samuel said unto Saul, `You have been foolish; you have not kept the command of Yahweh your Elohim, which He commanded you, for now had Yahweh established your kingdom over Israel unto the eon;"

²¹ and the people takes of the spoil of the flock and herd, the first part of the devoted thing, for sacrifice to Yahweh your Elohim in Gilgal.. ²² And Samuel said, `Has Yahweh had delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices as [in] hearkening to the voice of Yahweh? lo, hearkening than sacrifice is better; to give attention than fat of rams;" ²³ for a sin of divination [is] rebellion, and iniquity and teraphim [is] stubbornness; because you have rejected the word of Yahweh, He also does reject you from [being] king..

⁸ Not for your sacrifices shall I reprove you Or for your ascent offerings in front of Me continually. ⁹ I shall not take a young bull from your household, Or he-goats from your folds." ¹⁰ For Mine is every animal of the wildwood, And domestic beasts by the thousands on My mountains." ¹¹ I know every flyer of the heavens, And the mammal of the field is before me." ¹² If I were famishing, I would not speak to you, For the habitance is Mine, and its fullness." ¹³ Do I eat the flesh of bulls And drink the blood of he-goats?

⁹ He who keeps his ear away from hearing the law--Even his prayer is an abhorrence.

¹¹ Why, to Me, your many sacrifices?saying is Yahweh. "I am surfeited with ascent approaches of rams, and the fat of fatlings, and in the blood of young bulls and he-lambs and he-goats I do not delight." ¹² In case you are coming to appear before Me--Who seeks this from your hand, to tramp My courts? ¹³ Do not continue to bring a futile approach present. Incense--it is an abhorrence to Me! The new moon and the sabbath, the calling of a meeting--! I cannot bear a fast and a day of restraint!" ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointments are hated by My soul. They become an encumbrance to Me. I am tired of bearing them. ¹⁵ And when you spread your palms to Me, I will obscure My eyes from you. Moreover, in case you are increasing your prayers, there is no hearing by Me. Your hands are full of blood. Amidst your fingers extrudes lawlessness." ¹⁶ Wash yourselves! Purge yourselves! Take away the evil of your actions from in front of My eyes!

³ Yet the wicked one-- the slaying of a bull, to Me is as smiting a man, sacrificing a flockling is as breaking the neck of a cur, bringing up an approach present is as the blood of a swine, making a memorial of frankincense is as blessing lawlessness. Moreover, they choose their own ways, and in their abominations their soul delights."

²⁰ Why [is] this to Me? frankincense from Sheba comes, And the sweet cane from a land afar off, Your burnt-offerings [are] not for acceptance, And your sacrifices have not been sweet to Me."

¹¹ A den of burglars has this house, On which My name is called, been in your eyes? Even I, lo, I have seen, an affirmation of Yahweh." ¹² But go you, I pray you, Unto My place that [is] in Shiloh, Where I caused My name to dwell at first, And see that which I have done to it, For the wickedness of My people Israel."

²¹ I hate, I reject your celebrations, and I will not smell the approach presents in your days of restraint." ²² For if you bring up to Me ascent approaches or approach presents, I will not accept them. And on the peace approaches of your fatlings I will not look."

¹³ Now woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are locking the kingdom of the heavens in front of men. For you are not entering, neither are you letting those entering to enter."

¹ You shall not carry a futile report; do not set your hand with the wicked to become a malicious witness.

¹⁶ In case a malicious witness should rise against a man asserting his defection, ¹⁷ then the two men who have the contention must stand before Yahweh and before the priests and the judges who shall come to be in those days. ¹⁸ The judges will inquire diligently, and behold, should the false witness assert false testimony against his brother, ¹⁹ then you must do to him just as he schemed to do to his brother. Thus you will eradicate the evil from among you.

¹⁹ A false witness who blows out lies, And one who instigates quarrels between brothers."

¹⁹ The lip of truth is established into the future, Yet the false tongue lasts only for a moment."

⁵ A false witness shall not be held innocent, And he who breathes out lies shall not escape."

⁹ A false witness shall not be held innocent, And he who breathes out lies shall perish."

¹⁸ A maul, a sword and a whetted arrow, Such is a man who asserts against his associate with false testimony."

¹⁵ Yet they say to her, "You are mad!Yet she stoutly insisted on having it thus. Yet they said, "It is his messenger."

¹⁷ Intending this, then, consequently do I not use lightness? Or what I am planning, am I planning according to the flesh, that it may be with me "Yes, yes,and "No, no"? ¹⁸ Now God is faithful, for our word toward you is not "Yesand "No, ¹⁹ For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, Who is being heralded among you through us - through me and Silvanus and Timothy - became not "Yesand "No,but in Him has become "Yes." ²⁰ For whatever promises are of God, are in Him "Yes.Wherefore through Him also is the "Amento God, for glory, through us."

¹³ Now having the same spirit of faith, in accord with what is written, "I believe, wherefore I speak also,we also are believing, wherefore we are speaking also,

⁸ Faithful is the saying, and I am intending you to be insistent concerning these things, that those who have believed God may be concerned to preside for ideal acts. These things are ideal and beneficial for humanity."

⁵ O that my ways should be established To keep Your statutes.

⁵⁹ I have taken account of my ways; So let me turn back my feet to Your testimonies.

⁵ The righteousness of the flawless one shall make his way straight, Yet by his wickedness shall the wicked one fall."

¹⁴ Happy is the man who is in awe continually, Yet he whose heart is obstinate shall fall into peril."

¹ The man receiving reproofs who is still stiff necked Shall be broken in an instant, and there will be no healing."

² Lift your eyes to the high places, and see, Where have you not been lain with? On the ways you have sat for them, As an Arab in a wilderness, And you defile the land, By your fornications, and by your wickedness." ³ And withheld are showers, and gathered rain has not been. The forehead of a whorish woman you have, You have refused to be ashamed."

³ Yahweh, Your eyes, are they not on stedfastness? You have smitten them, and they have not grieved, You have consumed them, They have refused to receive instruction, They made their faces harder than a rock, They have refused to turn back."

¹² They were ashamed when they did abomination! Yea, they are not at all ashamed, And blushing they have not known, Therefore, they do fall among falling ones, In the time of their inspection they stumble, said Yahweh."

¹⁶ `The word that you have spoken unto us in the name of Yahweh--we are not hearkening unto you; ¹⁷ for we certainly do everything that has gone out of our mouth, to make perfume to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out to her libations, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our heads, in cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem, and--we are satisfied with bread, and we are well, and evil we have not seen."

²⁸ And he sees and turns back, From all his transgressions that he has done, He does surely live, he does not die,

⁵ And now, thus says Yahweh of hosts:Set your heart on your ways."

⁷ Thus says Yahweh of hosts:Set your heart on your ways.

¹⁵ And now, set, I pray, your heart from this day and onward. Ere was placed a stone on a stone in the temple of Yahweh,

¹⁸ Set, I pray, your heart from this day and onward. From the twenty fourth day of the ninth month, from the day on which the temple of Yahweh is founded, set your heart." ¹⁹ Is the seed still in the underground hoard? And have the vine and the fig tree and the pomegranate and the olive tree still not borne? From this day will I bless.

¹⁷ Now, coming to himself, he averred, 'How many of my father's hired men are being cloyed with bread, yet I am perishing here of famine!" ¹⁸ Rising, I will go to my father and declare to him, "Father, I sinned against heaven and in your sight."

¹¹ Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus, be directing our way to you! "

²¹ Many are the designs in a man's heart, Yet the counsel of Yahweh, it shall stand firm."

⁵ Forasmuch as Syria counsels evil against you, with Ephraim and Remaliah's son, saying, ⁶ We will go up into Judah and end it, and we will rend it to us, and we will cause a king to reign in its midst--the son of Tabeal;"'" ⁷ Thus says my Lord, Yahweh of hosts, "This counsel shall not be confirmed, and it shall not come to pass."

⁹ Know, you peoples, and be dismayed! And give ear, all you far from the land! Belt yourselves and be dismayed! Belt yourselves and be dismayed!" ¹⁰ Counsel with counsel, yet it shall be annulled! Speak the word, yet it shall not be confirmed! For with us is El!"

²⁷ For Yahweh of hosts has counseled, and who will annul it? And His hand is outstretched, and who will reverse it?

¹⁰ Telling from the beginning, the hereafter, and from aforetime, what has not yet been done. Saying, `All My counsel shall be confirmed, and all My desire will I do.'" ¹¹ Calling from the sunrise, a bird of prey, from a land far off, the man of My counsel. Indeed, I speak! Indeed, I will bring it about! I formed. Indeed, I will do it."

²³ Thus said Yahweh:Let not the wise boast himself in his wisdom, Nor let the mighty boast himself in his might, Let not the rich boast himself in his riches,

¹³ Yet the men are tugging hard to turn back to the dry land, yet they cannot, for the sea is running and tempestuous against them."

²⁷ For of a truth, in this city were gathered against Thy holy Boy Jesus, Whom Thou dost anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, together with the nations and the peoples of Israel, ²⁸ to do whatever Thy hand and Thy counsel designates beforehand to occur.

³⁹ yet if it is of God, you will not be able to demolish them - lest at some time you may be found fighters against God also."

¹⁹ for the wisdom of this world is stupidity with God. For it is written, "He is clutching the wise in their craftiness." ²⁰ And again, The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are vain."

⁸ and a stumbling stone and a snare rock; who are stumbling also at the word, being stubborn, to which they were appointed also."

³ Yet You, O Yahweh, have been a Shield about me, My Glory, and the One raising up my head.

⁸ To Yahweh belongs the salvation; On Your people be Your blessing! {Interlude{ {Permanent, With Accompaniments{ "

⁷ These boast in chariots, and those in horses, But as for us, concerning the Name of Yahweh our Elohim, we are ever mindful."

¹⁷ The horse is a false hope for salvation, And by its vast valor it cannot provide escape." ¹⁸ Behold, the eye of Yahweh is toward those fearing Him, Toward those waiting for His benignity,

²⁰ Our El is an El of grand salvation, And to Yahweh, my Lord, belong the exits from death."

¹⁰ Who are giving salvation to kings, Who are setting loose His servant David from the vicious sword."

¹⁰ Not in the horse's mastery is He delighting; Not in the legs of a man is He placing approval;

¹¹ Again I saw under the sun That the race is not to the fleet, Nor the battle to valiant masters, Nor even bread for the wise, Nor even riches for the understanding, Nor even favor for the knowing, For season and mischance shall happen to them all."

¹ Woe to those going down to Egypt for help! On horses are they leaning, and trusting in chariots, for they are many, and on horsemen, for they are very staunch. And they do not heed the Holy One of Israel, and of Yahweh Elohim they do not inquire."

²³ Surely in vain from the heights, The multitude of mountains--Surely in Yahweh our Elohim [is] the salvation of Israel."
