¹ ¶ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ² And the earth was without order, and empty; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

¹¹ for in six days the LORD made the heavens and earth, the sea, and all that is in them and rested the seventh day; therefore, the LORD blessed the sabbath day and sanctified it.

¹⁸ And he gave unto Moses, when he finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

²⁶ For all the gods of the people are worthless, but the LORD made the heavens.

⁶ Thou, O LORD, art alone; thou hast made the heavens and the heavens of the heavens, with all their host, the earth and all things that are therein, the seas and all that is therein, and thou givest life to them all; and the host of the heavens worship thee.

¹³ By his spirit he has adorned the heavens; his hand has formed the fleeing serpent.

⁴ ¶ Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Cause me to know, if thou hast understanding.

⁵ For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.

²⁵ Of old thou hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

When he set a compass upon the face of the depth, ²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when he strengthened the fountains of the deep, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea his decree that the waters should not pass his commandment, when he appointed the foundations of the earth, ³⁰ I was with him ordering everything; I was his delight every day, being content before him at all times;

⁴ ¶ The LORD has made all things by himself, yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

¹ ¶ Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth while the evil days do not come nor the years draw near when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

¹⁶ O LORD of the hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubim, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made the heavens and earth.

²⁶ Lift up your eyes on high and behold who has created these things; he brings out his host by number; he calls them all by their names; none shall be lacking by the greatness of his might and by the strength of his power.

²⁸ Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard that the God of the age is the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth? He does not faint, nor is he weary; and there is no one that can attain to his intelligence.

⁵ ¶ Thus saith God the LORD, the Creator of the heavens and he that stretches them out; he that spreads forth the earth and that which comes out of it; he that gives breath unto the people upon it and spirit to those that walk therein:

²⁴ Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that makes all things, that stretches forth the heavens alone, that spreads abroad the earth by myself;

¹⁸ For thus has the LORD said that creates the heavens; God himself that forms the earth, he who made it and established it. He did not create it in vain; he created it to be inhabited; I am the LORD; and there is no one else.

¹³ And thou hast already forgotten the LORD thy maker that has stretched forth the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth and hast feared continually every day the fury of the oppressor when he was ready to destroy. But, where is the fury of the oppressor?

¹⁶ That has placed my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee with the shadow of my hand, that thou may plant the heavens and lay the foundations of the earth and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.

¹⁷ ¶ For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

¹² He that makes the earth by his power, he that orders the world with his wisdom and extends the heavens with his intelligence:

¹⁷ Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing hidden from thee;

¹⁵ He is the one who makes the earth by his power; he upholds the world by his wisdom and extends the heavens by his intelligence;

¹ ¶ The burden of the word of the LORD upon Israel, said the LORD, who stretches forth the heavens and lays the foundation of the earth and forms the spirit of man within him.

²⁵ ¶ At that time Jesus answered and said, I praise thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and understanding and hast revealed them unto children.

¹⁹ For those days shall be of affliction such as never was from the beginning of the creation of the things which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

¹ ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with the God. ³ All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

¹⁵ and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all the things that are therein,

²⁴ The God that made the world and all the things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;

¹⁹ ¶ because that which is known of God is manifest to them; for God has showed it unto them. ²⁰ For the invisible things of him, his eternal power and divinity, are clearly understood by the creation of the world and by the things that are made so that there is no excuse;

³⁶ For of him and by him and in him are all things. To him be the glory for the ages. Amen.

⁶ but to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

⁹ and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the ages has been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ for by him were all things created, that are in the heavens and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they are thrones or dominions or principalities or powers: all things were created by him and in him; ¹⁷ And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

² has in these last times spoken unto us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the ages;

¹⁰ And Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

⁴ For every house is built by someone, but he that created all things is God.

³ Through faith we understand that the ages were framed by the word of God, that which is seen being made of that which was not seen.

⁵ Of course, they willingly ignore that the heavens were created of old and the earth standing out of the water and in the water, by the word of God;

¹ ¶ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life

¹⁴ ¶ And unto the angel of the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of the Laodiceans write; Behold, he who saith, Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:

¹¹ Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and virtue; for thou hast created all things, and by thy will they have their being and were created.

⁶ and swore by him that lives for ever and ever, who created the heaven and the things that are therein, and the earth, and the things that are therein, and the sea and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer;

⁷ saying with a loud voice, Fear God and give glory to him, for the hour of his judgment is come; and worship him that has made the heaven and the earth and the sea and the fountains of waters.

⁶ And he said unto me, It is done. I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life freely.

¹³ I AM the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and end, the first and the last.

⁷ He stretches out the north wind over the empty place and hangs the earth upon nothing.

¹⁴ Behold, these are parts of his ways; but how little a portion have we heard of him? For the thunder of his power, who shall understand?

¹² ¶ Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and prepared the heavens with his palm and with three fingers measured the dust of the earth and weighed the mountains in a balance and the hills with weights? ¹³ Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD or being his counsellor has taught him? ¹⁴ With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him? Who taught him in the path of judgment and taught him knowledge and showed unto him the way of intelligence?

²³ I beheld the earth, and, behold, it was without order, and empty; and the heavens, and they had no light.

¹⁰ She is empty and worn out and is in pieces, and the heart melted, the knees smite together, and much pain is in the kidneys, and the faces of them all gather blackness.

³⁰ Behold, he spreads his light upon it and covers the roots of the sea.

¹⁹ Where is the way to the habitation of the light, and where is the place of the darkness?

¹¹ Light is sown for the righteous and gladness for the upright in heart.

² who dost cover thyself with light as with a garment, who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain,

²⁷ God is the LORD, who has shined on us; bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

⁵ Let them praise the name of the LORD; for he commanded, and they were created.

⁷ I form the light and create darkness; I make peace and create evil: I am the LORD that does all this.

¹⁹ The sun shall no longer be thy light by day; nor shall the moon give light unto thee for brightness; but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light and thy God thy glory.

³ And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

⁵ ¶ And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness apprehended it not.

⁹ That Word was the true Light, which lightens every man that comes into this world.

¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that the light is come into the world, and men loved darkness more than the light because their deeds were evil.

⁴³ And having said these things, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

⁶ For the God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts to bring forth the light of the knowledge of the clarity of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

⁸ For in another time ye were darkness, but now ye are light in the Lord: walk as children of light;

¹⁴ Therefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest and arise from the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.

¹⁶ the only one who has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

⁵ ¶ This then is the promise which we have heard of him and declare unto you, That God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

⁸ Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which is the truth in him and in you, because the darkness is past, and the true light now shines.

¹⁰ And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters he called Seas; and God saw that it was good.

A Psalm of David. ¶ The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows the work of his hands.

⁵ To him that by intelligence made the heavens: for his mercy endures for ever. ⁶ To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endures for ever.

⁴ Praise him, ye heavens of heavens and ye waters that are above the heavens.

¹ ¶ Halelu-JAH. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in the firmament of his power.

³ If the clouds are full of rain, they shall empty themselves upon the earth; and if the tree falls toward the south or toward the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it shall remain.

¹⁰ But the LORD God is the Truth, he himself is Living God and Everlasting King: at his wrath the earth trembles, and the Gentiles shall not be able to abide his indignation.

¹² He that makes the earth by his power, he that orders the world with his wisdom and extends the heavens with his intelligence: ¹³ at his voice, there is given a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causes the clouds to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes the lightnings with the rain and brings forth the wind out of his treasures.

⁹ ¶ And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear; and it was so.

¹¹ And God said, Let the earth bring forth green grass, herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after its nature, whose seed is in itself upon the earth; and it was so.

⁸ Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? ⁹ When I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness a swaddling band for it, ¹⁰ and established my decree upon it, and set bars and doors, ¹¹ and said, Thou shalt come unto here, but no further; and there shall the pride of thy waves be stayed.

¹⁰ ¶ Thou art he who sends the springs into the valleys, which run among the mountains.

²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when he strengthened the fountains of the deep, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea his decree that the waters should not pass his commandment, when he appointed the foundations of the earth,

²⁷ But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this that even the winds and the sea obey him!

⁵ And God called the light Day and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

⁷ All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, there they return again.

²² Do ye not fear me? saith the LORD; will ye not tremble at my presence, who placed the sand for the bound of the sea by an eternal order, which cannot be broken? Storms shall raise themselves up, yet they shall not prevail; their waves shall roar, yet they shall not pass over it.

⁹ And he said unto them, I am a Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, God of the heavens, who has made the sea and the dry land.

⁴ And God saw that the light was good, and God divided the light from the darkness.

⁴ The strong One, whose work is perfect: for all his ways are right; a God of truth and without iniquity, just and upright is he.

³¹ ¶ Let the glory of the LORD endure for ever; let the LORD rejoice in his works.

²⁹ ¶ And God said, Behold, I have given you every grass bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food.

⁵ and every plant of the field before it was in the earth and all the grass of the field before it grew, for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and neither was there a man to till the ground.

⁹ And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is desirable to the sight and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

¹⁶ ¶ And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou may freely eat;

⁵ Land out of which bread comes forth, and underneath it shall be as if it were converted in fire.

³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

⁹ Thou dost visit the earth, and when thou hast caused it to want, thou dost greatly enrich it with the river of God, which is full of water; thou dost prepare their grain, according to thy will. ¹⁰ Thou dost water its rows abundantly; thou dost settle its furrows; thou dost make it soft with showers of rain; thou dost bless its sprouting. ¹¹ Thou dost crown the year with thy goodness, and thy clouds distill fatness. ¹² They fall upon the habitations of the wilderness; and the hills gird themselves with happiness. ¹³ The plains clothe themselves with sheep, and the valleys cover themselves with grain; they give shouts of triumph, they even sing.

¹⁴ He causes the hay to grow for the cattle and grass for the service of man, that he may bring forth bread out of the earth ¹⁵ and wine that makes glad the heart of man, making his face to shine with oil and bread which sustains man’s heart. ¹⁶ The trees of the LORD are satisfied; the cedars of Lebanon, which he has planted, ¹⁷ that the birds may make their nests there: the stork makes her house among the fir trees.

⁸ Who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares the rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow upon the mountains.

⁸ For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, that spreads out her roots by the river and shall not see when heat comes, but her leaf shall be green and shall not be fatigued in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

¹⁰ And now the axe is also laid unto the root of the trees; therefore, every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.

³⁰ Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

¹⁶ Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? ¹⁷ Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit, but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. ¹⁹ Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire. ²⁰ So that by their fruits ye shall know them.

²⁸ For the earth brings forth fruit of herself: first the blade, then the ear, after that the full grain in the ear.

⁴³ For a good tree does not bring forth corrupt fruit; neither does a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. ⁴⁴ For every tree is known by its own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush do they gather grapes.

⁷ For the earth which drinks in the rain that comes often upon it and brings forth herbs in season for those by whom it is dressed receives blessing from God;

¹² Can the fig tree, my brethren, produce olive berries? or the vine, figs? In the same manner no fountain can yield both salt water and fresh.

¹⁰ For as the rain comes down, and the snow from the heavens, and does not return there, but waters the earth and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater: ¹¹ So shall my Word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall be prospered in that for which I sent it.

¹¹ For as the earth brings forth her shoot and as the garden causes her seed to spring forth so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the Gentiles.

²⁴ ¶ He put forth another parable unto them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens is likened unto a man who sows good seed in his field ²⁵ But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went away. ²⁶ But when the blade was sprung up and brought forth fruit, then the tares appeared also.

¹³ I set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between me and the earth.

¹⁹ And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, and should be driven to worship them and serve them because the LORD thy God has conceded them unto all the peoples under all the heavens.

⁹ Let the stars of its dawn be darkened; they waited for light, but have none; neither let them see the dawning of the day;

³ Is there any number to his armies? And upon whom does his light not arise?

⁵ Behold, even the moon shall not shine, neither are the stars pure in his sight.

¹² ¶ Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days? Hast thou shown the dayspring its place, ¹³ that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? ¹⁴ It is transformed as clay to the seal and then stands as a garment;

³¹ Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? ³² Canst thou bring forth the signs of the heavens in their season, or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

³ ¶ When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; ⁴ what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou dost visit him?

¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm of David. ¶ The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows the work of his hands. ² One day provides a word for the next day, and one night declares wisdom unto the next night. ³ There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. ⁴ Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tabernacle for the sun, ⁵ which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber and rejoices as a strong man to run a race. ⁶ His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

¹⁶ The day is thine, the night also is thine; thou hast prepared the light and the sun. ¹⁷ Thou hast set all the borders of the earth; thou hast made summer and winter.

³ Blow the shofar in the new moon in the time appointed on our solemn feast day.

¹⁹ ¶ He appointed the moon for times and seasons; the sun knows his going down. ²⁰ Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest move.

⁹¹ They persevere unto this day by thy ordinance; for they are all thy slaves.

⁷ To him that made the great lights: for his mercy endures for ever: ⁸ The sun to rule in the day: for his mercy endures for ever: ⁹ The moon and stars to rule in the night: for his mercy endures for ever.

³ Praise ye him, sun and moon; praise him, all ye stars of light.

⁶ He has established them for ever and ever: he has made a law which shall not be broken.

² Thus hath the LORD said, Do not learn the way of the Gentiles, and do not fear the signs of heaven, even though the Gentiles fear them.

³⁵ ¶ Thus hath the LORD said, who gives the sun for light by day, and the laws of the moon and of the stars for light by night, who divides the sea and the waves thereof roar; The LORD of the hosts is his name;

²⁵ Thus hath the LORD said: If my covenant remains not with the day and the night, and if I have not appointed the laws of the heaven and the earth,

⁷ And when thou art dead, I will cover the heavens and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. ⁸ All the bright lights of heaven I will make dark because of thee and set darkness upon thy land, said the Lord GOD.

¹ ¶ Thus hath the Lord GOD said: The gate of the inner court that looks toward the east shall be shut the six working days; and the day of the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the same manner it shall be opened the day of the new moon.

⁶ But in the day of the new moon it shall be a young bullock without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram; they shall be without blemish.

¹⁰ The earth shall quake before him; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall go dark; and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

³⁰ And I will show wonders in the heaven and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. ³¹ The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and the terrible day of the LORD comes.

¹⁵ The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

⁸ look unto him that makes the seven stars and Orion and turns the shadow of death into the morning and makes the day dark with night, that calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name;

⁹ And it shall come to pass in that day, said the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will cover the earth with darkness in the clear day;

² saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? We have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him.

² But he answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather, for the heaven is glowing with an aurora. ³ And in the morning, It will be foul weather today, for the heaven has an aurora and is cloudy. O ye hypocrites, ye know how to make decisions based on the face of the heaven, and regarding the signs of the times are ye unable?

²⁹ Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken,

²⁴ ¶ But in those days after that affliction, the sun shall darken, and the moon shall not give her light,

²⁵ Then there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars, and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; ²⁶ men’s hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

⁴⁵ And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

¹⁹ and I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath: blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke; ²⁰ the sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood before that great and notable day of the Lord shall come;

¹² And I saw when he had opened the sixth seal, and, behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

¹² And the fourth angel sounded the trumpet, and the third part of the sun was smitten and the third part of the moon and the third part of the stars, in such a manner that the third part of them was darkened, and the third part of the day did not shine, and the night likewise.

² And he opened the bottomless pit, and there arose smoke out of the pit as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

¹² Then Joshua spoke unto the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the sons of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. ¹³ And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed until the nation had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of righteousness? ²⁶ if I beheld the sun when it shone or the moon walking in beauty;

⁷ when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

⁶ His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

¹⁰ For this reason the stars of the heavens and the lights thereof shall not shine: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not give forth her light.

²³ Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of the hosts shall reign in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and in the presence of his ancients he shall be glorious.

¹¹ The sun and the moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went and at the shining of thy glittering spear.

⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

⁴¹ One thing is the glory of the sun, and another the glory of the moon, and another the glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.

⁸ ¶ And the fourth angel poured out his vial against the sun; and it was given unto it to scorch men with fire. ⁹ And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, who has authority over these plagues; and they did not repent to give him glory.

²³ And the city had no need of the sun neither of the moon to shine in her, for the clarity of God has illuminated it, and the Lamb is its lamp.

A Psalm of David. ¶ O LORD our Lord, how great is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy praise above the heavens.

⁴⁷ For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles that thou should be for saving health unto the ends of the earth.

⁷ And God made a firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.

²² And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

³⁰ And to every beast of the earth and to every fowl of the air and to every thing that moves upon the earth, in which there is a living soul, I have given all green grass for food; and it was so.

¹⁹ And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called every living soul, that was its name.

¹⁷ Bring forth with thee every animal that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl and of beasts and of every creeping thing that moves upon the earth, that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.

³³ And he spoke of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springs out of the wall. He also spoke of animals and of fowl and of serpents and of fishes.

²⁴ O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom thou hast made them all; the earth is full of thy riches. ²⁵ So is this great and wide sea, wherein are innumerable creeping things, both small and great beasts.

¹⁰ beasts and all animals; creeping things and flying fowl,

²¹ That the man who worked with wisdom and with knowledge and with uprightness would have to leave his portion to a man that has not laboured therein. This also is vanity and a great evil.

²⁵ neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he gives to all life and breath and all things

²⁰ Of fowls after their kind and of beasts after their kind, of every animal of the earth after its kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.

¹⁴ they and every animal after its kind and all the beasts after their kind and every creeping thing that moves upon the earth after its kind and every fowl after its kind, every bird, every thing with wings.

¹⁹ all the animals, every creature and every fowl and whatever moves upon the earth after their kinds went forth out of the ark.

⁷ And you, be ye fruitful and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth and multiply therein.

⁷ And the sons of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly and multiplied and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

¹² Am I a sea, or a dragon, that thou settest a watch over me?

⁵ ¶ Dead things are formed under the waters and of its dwelling places.

²⁴ O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom thou hast made them all; the earth is full of thy riches. ²⁵ So is this great and wide sea, wherein are innumerable creeping things, both small and great beasts. ²⁶ There go the ships; there is that leviathan, whom thou didst make to play therein.

² Son of man, raise up lamentations upon Pharaoh king of Egypt and say unto him, Thou art like a young lion of the nations, and thou art as the whale in the seas, that dost dry up thy rivers, and trouble the waters with thy feet, and foul their streams.

¹⁷ Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

¹⁰ ¶ And the LORD spoke unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

⁴⁰ for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

²⁸ And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over every beast that moves upon the earth.

¹ ¶ And God blessed Noah and his sons and said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.

²⁷ And Laban said unto him, Let me now find grace in thine eyes, I have learned by experience that the LORD has blessed me for thy sake.

³⁰ For it was little which thou hadst before I came, and it is now increased unto a multitude, and the LORD has blessed thee since my coming; and now when shall I provide for my own house also?

¹¹ And God said unto him, I am God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply, a nation and a company of nations (Gentiles) shall come out of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;

⁹ For I will return unto you and make you fruitful and multiply you and establish my covenant with you.

¹⁵ ¶ Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eats grass as an ox.

¹² So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep and six thousand camels and a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand she asses.

³¹ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam!

³⁸ He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly and suffers not their cattle to decrease.

³ Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thy house; thy children like olive plants round about thy table.

¹³ that our garners may be full, affording all manner of store; that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets; ¹⁴ that our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in nor going out; that there be no shout of alarm in our streets.

²² ¶ The blessing of the LORD is that which makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.

³⁹ Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion or fill the appetite of the young lions, ⁴⁰ when they crouch in their dens and abide in their lairs to lie in wait?

¹ ¶ Knowest thou the time when the mountain goats bring forth? Hast thou observed when the hinds calve?

⁵ Who freed the wild ass, and who loosed its bands?

⁹ Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee or abide by thy crib?

¹⁹ ¶ Hast thou given the horse strength? Hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?

⁹ I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds. ¹⁰ For every beast of the forest is mine and the cattle upon a thousand hills.

¹⁸ The high mountains are a refuge for the wild goats, and the rocks for the conies.

²³ Man goes forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.

¹⁹ And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called every living soul, that was its name. ²⁰ And the man gave names to every beast, and to the fowl of the heavens, and to every animal of the field; but for the man there was not found a help meet for him.

⁸ or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee; the fishes of the sea shall declare it unto thee also. ⁹ What thing of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD made them? ¹⁰ In his hand is the soul of every living thing and the spirit of all flesh of man.

⁵ I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the face of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom was upright in my eyes.

²² ¶ And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat and live for ever,

¹ ¶ This is the book of the descendants of Adam. In the day that God created man, he made him in the likeness of God;

² And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every animal of the earth and upon every fowl of the heavens, upon all that moves upon the earth and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand they are delivered. ³ Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; even as the green grass I have given you all things. ⁴ But flesh with the soul (or life) thereof, which is its blood, ye shall not eat.

⁶ Whoever sheds man’s blood in man, his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God is man made.

⁷ Now, let us go down and there confound their language that they may not understand one another’s speech.

²³ for thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field; and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

¹⁰ But no one shall say, Where is God my maker, who gives songs in the night;

⁴ what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou dost visit him? ⁵ For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and beauty. ⁶ Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: ⁷ all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; ⁸ The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, and whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

³ Know ye that the LORD he is God; it is he that has made us and not we ourselves; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

²⁰ Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest move. ²¹ The young lions roar after their prey and seek their food from God. ²² The sun arises, they withdraw and lay themselves down in their dens. ²³ Man goes forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening. ²⁴ O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom thou hast made them all; the earth is full of thy riches.

² Let Israel rejoice with his Maker; let the sons of Zion be joyful with their King.

²⁹ Behold, this only have I found: that God has made man upright, but they have sought out many perversions.

⁸ After this, I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I answered, Here am I; send me.

⁸ But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; such that we all are the work of thy hands.

⁶ And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my slave; and even the beasts of the field I have given him that they might serve him.

¹⁷ ¶ But Jesus answered them, My Father works until now, and I work.

²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, He who loves me will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him and dwell with him.

²⁰ For thou bringest certain new things to our ears; we desire, therefore, to know what these things mean.

²⁶ and has made of one blood all the lineage of men to dwell on all the face of the earth and has determined the seasons (which he has limited) and the bounds of their habitation;

²⁸ for in him we live and move and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also of his lineage. ²⁹ Being therefore of the lineage of God, we ought not to think that which is Divine is like unto gold or silver or stone, bearing the mark of art and man’s imagination.

⁷ For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of the man.

¹⁸ Therefore we all, beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord with uncovered face, are transformed from glory to glory into the same likeness, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

⁴ In whom the god of this age has blinded the understanding of those who do not believe, that the light of the gospel of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine in them.

²⁴ and that ye put on the new man, which is created in conformity to God in righteousness and in the holiness of the truth.

¹⁵ who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature;

¹⁰ and being clothed with the new man, who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one that created him,

⁶ But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou dost visit him? ⁷ Thou didst make him a little lower than the angels; thou didst crown him with glory and honour and didst set him over the works of thy hands. ⁸ Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not see yet that all things are put under him. ⁹ But we see this same Jesus, crowned with glory and honour, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

⁷ For every nature of beasts and of birds and of serpents and of beings in the sea may be tamed and is tamed by mankind,

⁹ With it we bless God, even the Father; and with it we curse men, who are made in the image of God.

⁷ For there are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

¹⁸ ¶ And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.

²¹ ¶ And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his sides and closed up the flesh in its place; ²² and the LORD God built that which he had taken from the side of the man into a woman and brought her unto the man. ²³ And the man said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman because she was taken out of Man. ²⁴ Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh. ²⁵ And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

¹⁴ I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are thy works, and that, my soul knows right well.

⁷ even every one that is called by my name, for I have created them for my glory; I have formed them; yea, I have made them.

¹⁵ And did he not make one, having in himself abundance of the Spirit? And why one? That he might seek offspring of God. Therefore take heed to your spirit and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

⁴ And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female?

⁶ But at the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

⁷ For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of the man. ⁸ For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man. ⁹ Neither was the man created for the woman, but the woman for the man.

¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared that we should walk in them.

²⁶ even the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints,

¹⁶ And I will bless her and give thee a son also of her; yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of Gentiles; kings of peoples shall be of her.

²⁰ And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I shall bless him and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly; he shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.

¹⁷ that in blessing I will bless thee and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gates of his enemies; ¹⁸ and in thy seed shall all the Gentiles of the earth be blessed because thou hast hearkened unto my voice.

⁶⁰ And they blessed Rebekah and said unto her, Thou art our sister; be thou the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and let thy seed possess the gate of those who hate them.

³ abide in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these lands, and I will confirm the oath which I swore unto Abraham thy father; ⁴ and I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven and will give unto thy seed all these lands, and in thy seed shall all the Gentiles of the earth be blessed

²⁴ And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father; fear not, for I am with thee and will bless thee and multiply thy seed for my slave Abraham’s sake.

⁵ ¶ And he lifted up his eyes and saw the women and the children and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children whom God hath graciously given thy slave.

²⁵ by the God of thy father, who shall help thee, and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of the heavens above, with blessings of the deep that lies under, with blessings of the breasts and of the womb.

¹⁰ And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou would bless me indeed and enlarge my border and that thy hand might be with me and that thou would deliver me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

⁵ Ammiel, the sixth, Issachar, the seventh, Peulthai, the eighth; for God had blessed him.

³⁴ Let the heavens and the earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moves in them.

¹ A Song of degrees for Solomon. ¶ Unless the LORD builds the house, they labour in vain that build it; unless the LORD keeps the city, the watchmen watch in vain. ² It is vain for you to rise up early, to come home late, to eat the bread of sorrows, because he shall give his beloved sleep. ³ Behold, sons are a heritage of the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is to be desired. ⁴ As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the young men. ⁵ Happy is the man that has filled his quiver with them: he shall not be ashamed when he speaks with the enemies in the gate.

³ Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thy house; thy children like olive plants round about thy table. ⁴ Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that fears the LORD.

³ they shall forbid to marry and shall command men to abstain from foods, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who are faithful and have known the truth.

³ Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; even as the green grass I have given you all things.

³¹ For by them he judges the peoples; he gives food to the multitude.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ The earth is the LORD’s, and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein.

¹⁴ He causes the hay to grow for the cattle and grass for the service of man, that he may bring forth bread out of the earth ¹⁵ and wine that makes glad the heart of man, making his face to shine with oil and bread which sustains man’s heart.

²⁷ These wait all upon thee, that thou may give them their food in due season. ²⁸ Thou givest unto them, they gather; thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.

⁵ Teth He has given sustenance unto those that fear him; Jod He will ever be mindful of his covenant.

¹⁶ The heavens are the heavens of the LORD, but the earth he has given to the sons of Adam.

²⁵ Who gives food to all flesh: for his mercy endures for ever.

¹⁵ Ain The eyes of all wait upon thee, and thou givest them their food in due season. ¹⁶ Pe Thou dost open thine hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

⁷ He who does justice unto the oppressed; who gives bread to the hungry. The LORD looses the prisoners:

⁹ He who gives the beast his food and to the sons of the ravens which cry unto him.

¹⁶ he shall dwell upon the high places: fortresses of rocks shall be his place of refuge: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

⁸ For she did not recognize that I gave her the wheat and the wine and the oil and multiplied unto them the silver and the gold, with which they made Baal.

¹¹ Give us this day our daily bread.

²⁵ ¶ Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink, nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment? ²⁶ Behold the fowls of the air, for they sow not, neither do they reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are ye not much better than they?

¹⁷ Nevertheless he did not leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

²⁴ The God that made the world and all the things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; ²⁵ neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he gives to all life and breath and all things

²⁸ for in him we live and move and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also of his lineage.

¹⁷ Charge those that are rich in this world, that they not be highminded, not placing their hope in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;

³⁹ Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion or fill the appetite of the young lions, ⁴⁰ when they crouch in their dens and abide in their lairs to lie in wait? ⁴¹ Who provided food for the raven; when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of food?

⁴ Their young ones are healthy, they grow up with grain; they go forth and never return unto them again.

⁸ The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searches after every green thing.

³⁰ Her young ones suck up the blood; and wherever the slain are, there she is.

²⁰ Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

¹⁴ He causes the hay to grow for the cattle and grass for the service of man, that he may bring forth bread out of the earth

² And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
