¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ² When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. ³ Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. ⁴ One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the LORD and to enquire in his temple. ⁵ For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle; in the secret of his tent shall he hide me; he shall set me high upon a rock. ⁶ And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in his tabernacle; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. ⁷ ¶ Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me and answer me. ⁸ My heart has spoken unto me from thee, Seek my face. Thy face, O LORD, will I seek. ⁹ Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy slave away in anger: thou hast been my help; do not leave me or forsake me, O God of my saving health. ¹⁰ For my father and my mother have left me, and the LORD has taken me up. ¹¹ Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a right path because of my enemies. ¹² Deliver me not over unto the will of my enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me and such as breathe out cruelty. ¹³ I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. ¹⁴ Wait for the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, for the LORD.

² The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my saving health; he is my God, and I will prepare him a habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

³ when his lamp shone upon my head, and by its light I walked in the darkness;

⁸ Salvation belongs unto the LORD; thy blessing shall be upon thy people. Selah.

A Psalm of David. ¶ I put my trust in the LORD put I: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

¹ To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David, the slave of the LORD, who spoke unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said, ¶ I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. ² The LORD is my rock and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

²⁸ For thou wilt light my fire: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

⁴⁶ The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song I will praise him. ⁸ The LORD is the strength of his people, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

² For thou art the God of my strength; why dost thou cast me off? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

¹ To the Overcomer:
for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. ¶ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in tribulation. ² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea,

² My enemies would daily swallow me up, for they are many that fight against me, O thou most High. ³ When I am afraid, I will trust in thee. ⁴ In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

² He only is my rock and my saving health; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

⁶ He only is my rock and my saving health; he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

¹⁹ Blessed be the Lord, who daily lades us with benefits, even the God of our saving health. Selah. ²⁰ He that is our God is the God of salvation, and unto GOD the Lord belongs the way of escape from death.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield unto us; the LORD will give grace and glory; he will not withhold good from those that walk uprightly.

⁶ The LORD is for me; I will not fear what man can do unto me.

¹⁴ JAH is my strength and song and is become my saving health. ¹⁵ The voice of singing and saving health is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

²¹ I will praise thee; for thou hast heard me and art become my saving health.

⁵ O house of Jacob, come and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

² Behold, O God my saving health, I will trust and not be afraid for JAH, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he also is become saving health unto me.

²⁴ And unto me he shall say, Surely in the LORD is the righteousness and the strength; until he shall come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.

⁶ Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and those that dwell therein shall perish in like manner; but my saving health shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall never perish. ⁷ Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; do not fear the reproach of men, neither be afraid of their revilings. ⁸ For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my saving health from age to age.

¹ ¶ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. ² For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. ³ And the Gentiles shall walk to thy light, and the kings to the brightness of thy birth.

¹⁹ The sun shall no longer be thy light by day; nor shall the moon give light unto thee for brightness; but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light and thy God thy glory. ²⁰ Thy sun shall set no more; neither shall thy moon wane: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

¹⁰ ¶ I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of saving health; he has surrounded me with the robe of righteousness; as a bridegroom he has arrayed me, and as a bride made up of his jewels.

⁷ ¶ Therefore I will wait for the LORD; I will wait for the God of my saving health; my God will hear me. ⁸ Do not rejoice against me, O my enemy; for if I have fallen, I shall arise; if I sit in darkness, the LORD is my light.

² But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness be born, and in his wings he shall bring saving health; and ye shall go forth and jump like calves of the herd.

²⁶ And he said unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then, awake, he rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

³⁰ for mine eyes have seen thy saving health,

⁶ and all flesh shall see the saving health of God.

¹ ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with the God. ³ All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. ⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of men. ⁵ ¶ And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness apprehended it not.

⁹ That Word was the true Light, which lightens every man that comes into this world.

¹² ¶ Then Jesus spoke again unto them, saying, I AM the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life.

³¹ ¶ What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who shall be against us?

⁹ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I will rather glory in my weaknesses that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

⁶ So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

¹⁰ and cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation unto him who is seated upon the throne of our God and unto the Lamb.

²³ And the city had no need of the sun neither of the moon to shine in her, for the clarity of God has illuminated it, and the Lamb is its lamp.

⁵ And there shall be no night there; and they need no lamp neither light of the sun; for the Lord God shall give them light; and they shall reign for ever and ever.

²² Why do ye persecute me as God and are not satisfied with my flesh?

³¹ when the servants of my tent said, Oh that we had of his flesh! We would never be satisfied.

⁷ Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God, for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the jawbone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

³ because my enemies are turned back; they shall fall and perish at thy presence.

⁴ ¶ The workers of iniquity certainly know this; those who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD.

⁴ The pain of death compassed me, and the rivers of Belial made me afraid.

³⁸ I shall smite them, and they will not be able to rise: they shall fall under my feet. ³⁹ For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued my enemies under me. ⁴⁰ Thou hast also given me the necks of my enemies that I might destroy those that hate me. ⁴¹ They cried out, but there was no one to save them: even unto the LORD, but he did not answer them. ⁴² Then I beat them as small as the dust before the wind: I scattered them as the dirt in the streets.

¹⁶ For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

⁴ Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread; they have not called upon God.

³ How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? Shall ye murder each other until ye are as a bowing wall and as a tottering fence? ⁴ They only consult to cast him down from his greatness; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but they curse in their inward parts. Selah.

¹² They compassed me about like bees; they were quenched as the fire of thorns; for in the name of the LORD I will cut them off.

¹⁵ And many among them shall stumble and fall and be broken and be snared and be taken.

³ Judas then, taking a company of soldiers and ministers of the high priests and of the Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons. ⁴ Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? ⁵ They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus said unto them, I AM. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them. ⁶ And when he said unto them, I AM, they went backward and fell to the ground.

¹⁵ ¶ And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed, for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me and no longer answers me neither by prophets nor by dreams; therefore, I have called thee that thou may make known unto me what I shall do. ¹⁶ Then Samuel said, Why then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thy enemy?

¹⁵ And when the servant of the man of God was risen early to go forth, behold, a host compassed the city both with horsemen and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! What shall we do? ¹⁶ And he answered, Fear not; for those that are with us are more than those that are with them. ¹⁷ And Elisha prayed and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw; and, behold, the mountain was full of horsemen and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

¹⁵ and he said, Hearken, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou King Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Do not be afraid nor dismayed before this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

⁶ Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the integrity of thy ways?

⁶ I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about.

⁶ ¶ The righteous also shall see and fear and shall laugh at him, saying:

¹¹ Behold, all those that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded; they shall be as nothing; and those that strive with thee shall perish. ¹² Thou shalt seek them and shalt not find them, even those that contended with thee; those that war against thee shall be as nothing and as a thing of nought.

¹⁶ Behold, I have created the smith that blows the coals in the fire, and that brings forth the instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. ¹⁷ No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the slaves of the LORD, and their justice from me, said the LORD.

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the charity of Christ? shall tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword? ³⁶ (As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.) ³⁷ Nevertheless, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

⁶ Therefore we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord ⁷ (for we walk by faith, not by sight). ⁸ We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

²⁸ and in nothing terrified by your adversaries, which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of saving health and that of God.

¹⁴ But also if ye suffer anything for righteousness’ sake, blessed are ye; therefore, be not afraid of their terror neither be troubled,

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer; behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days; be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.

⁷ And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, ⁸ and did not prevail; neither was their place found any more in heaven. ⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, the serpent of old, who is called Devil and the Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰ And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation and virtue and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ; for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night. ¹¹ And they have overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

¹¹ and she vowed a vow and said, O LORD of the hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid and remember me and not forget thy handmaid but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.

¹⁰ And he enquired of the LORD for him and gave him provision and gave him the sword of Goliath, the Philistine.

⁸ And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue; for thou shalt surely overtake them and without fail recover all.

¹ ¶ Then there was a famine in the days of David for three consecutive years, and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is because of Saul and because of his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

¹³ So Saul died for his rebellion which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he did not keep, and also for consulting a spiritist, to enquire of her ¹⁴ and not enquire of the LORD; therefore, he slew him and turned the kingdom unto David, the son of Jesse.

⁶ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will rest in the house of the LORD for ever.

⁶ ¶ I will wash my hands in innocency, so I will walk near unto thine altar, O LORD:

⁸ LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house and the place of the tabernacle of thy glory.

⁸ My heart has spoken unto me from thee, Seek my face. Thy face, O LORD, will I seek.

² Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shined forth.

² in this manner I beheld thee in holiness when I beheld thy power and thy glory. ³ ¶ Because thy mercy is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. ⁴ Thus will I bless thee in my life; in thy name shall I lift up my hands. ⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips

⁴ Blessed is the man whom thou dost choose and cause to approach unto thee that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house even of thy holy temple.

⁴ Happy are those that dwell in thy house; they shall continually praise thee. Selah.

¹⁰ for a day in thy courts is better than a thousand outside of them. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

¹⁷ And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, and set thou aright the work of our hands upon us; yea, set thou aright the work of our hands.

¹³ And ye shall seek me, and find me, for ye shall seek me with all your heart.

³ And I turned my face unto the Lord God, seeking him in prayer and supplication, in fasting and sackcloth, and ashes:

⁹ ¶ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout with joy, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold, thy King shall come unto thee: just, and a saviour; humble, and riding upon an ass, even upon a colt the foal of an ass.

³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

⁷ ¶ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you; ⁸ for every one that asks receives, and he that seeks finds, and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

³⁷ and she was a widow eighty-four years, who departed not from the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers.

⁴² but only one thing is necessary, and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

⁹ And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. ¹⁰ For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

²⁴ Strive to enter in at the narrow gate; for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in and shall not be able.

¹ ¶ And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that it behooves us always to pray and not faint,

¹⁸ Therefore we all, beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord with uncovered face, are transformed from glory to glory into the same likeness, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

⁶ For the God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts to bring forth the light of the knowledge of the clarity of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹³ Brethren, I do not reckon to have laid hold of it yet, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and extending myself unto those things which are ahead,

⁵ Now she that is a widow indeed and desolate, trusts in God, and is diligent in supplications and prayers night and day,

⁶ But without faith it is impossible to please God; for he that comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him.

¹² And he was with them hid in the house of God six years; and Athaliah reigned over the land.

¹⁰ ¶ Afterward I came in secret unto the house of Shemaiah, the son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple; for they are coming to slay thee; yea, tonight they will come to slay thee. ¹¹ Then I said, Should such a man as I flee? And who is there as I who could go into the temple and live? I will not go in.

¹ ¶ Why dost thou stand afar off, O LORD? Why dost thou hide thyself in times of trouble?

⁸ ¶ Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me with the shadow of thy wings,

³³ He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and sets me upon my high places.

²⁰ Thou shalt keep them in the secret place of thy face from the pride of man; thou shalt keep them in the tabernacle protected from the strife of tongues.

⁶ For this shall every one that is merciful pray unto thee in the time when thou may be found; surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come near unto him. ⁷ ¶ Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

² He brought me up also out of the pit of hopelessness, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock and straightened my steps.

¹ To the Overcomer upon,
Do not destroy, Michtam of David, when he fled from the presence of Saul in the cave. ¶ Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusts in thee; and in the shadow of thy wings I will make my refuge until these calamities are overpast.

² From the end of the earth I will cry unto thee when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

² In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; my sore bled in the night and ceased not; my soul refused to be comforted.

³ They have taken prudent counsel in secret against thy people and consulted against thy hidden ones.

¹ ¶ He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

¹⁵ He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and glorify him.

¹¹⁴ ¶ Thou art my hiding place and my shield; I have waited for thy word.

⁷ Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me; thou shalt stretch forth thy hand against the wrath of my enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

²⁴ Because I have called and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one responded; ²⁵ for because ye have disregarded all my counsel and rejected my reproof: ²⁶ I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes upon you; ²⁷ when what you have feared comes as destruction, and your calamity comes as a whirlwind; when tribulation and anguish come upon you. ²⁸ Then they shall call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

¹⁰ ¶ The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous shall run into it, and be raised up.

⁵ And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of Mount Zion and upon the places of her assemblies a cloud and darkness by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night because over all glory there shall be a covering. ⁶ And there shall be a covert for a shadow in the daytime from the heat and for a place of refuge and for a shelter from storm and from rain.

¹⁶ LORD, in the tribulation they have sought thee, they poured out prayer when thy chastening was upon them.

²⁰ ¶ Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself, as it were, for a little moment until the indignation is overpast.

² And that man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a hot land.

²⁷ saying to a piece of firewood, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they say, Arise and deliver us. ²⁸ But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? Let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble, for according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah.

¹⁸ yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will joy in the God of my saving health. ¹⁹ The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and upon my high places he will cause me to walk victorious in my instruments of music.

²⁴ Therefore, whosoever hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him unto a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock; ²⁵ and the rain descended, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded upon a rock.

¹⁶ And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. ¹⁷ And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in the heavens. ¹⁸ And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, a small rock and upon the large rock I will build my congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against her.

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that didst kill the prophets and stone those who are sent unto thee, how often I desired to gather thy children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

³ For ye are dead and your life is hid with the Christ in God.

¹³ yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head and restore thee unto thy place, and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh’s cup into his hand after the former manner when thou wast his butler.

²⁰ ¶ And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a banquet unto all his slaves, and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his slaves.

⁹ and I have been with thee wherever thou didst walk and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

¹ ¶ And David spoke the words of this song unto the LORD in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies and out of the hand of Saul.

⁴⁹ who brings me forth from among my enemies; thou hast lifted me up on high from among those that rose up against me; thou hast delivered me from the man of violence.

²⁷ And it came to pass after thirty-seven years of the captivity of Jehoiachin, king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, that Evilmerodach, king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin, king of Judah, out of the prison house;

¹⁸ Is not the LORD your God with you who has given you rest on every side? For he has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the LORD and before his people.

²¹ ¶ Thus, the sons of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the solemnity of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness, and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD, day by day, with instruments of strength unto the LORD. ²² And Hezekiah spoke unto the heart of all the Levites that had good understanding to serve the LORD, and they ate the sacrifices of the feast for seven days, offering sacrifices of peace and giving thanks unto the LORD God of their fathers. ²³ And the whole assembly took counsel to keep another seven days, and they kept another seven days with gladness. ²⁴ For Hezekiah, king of Judah, had given to the congregation a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep, and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep, and a great number of priests sanctified themselves. ²⁵ And all the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced. ²⁶ So there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem.

¹¹ And they sang, praising and giving thanks unto the LORD because he is good, for his mercy endures for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, praising the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid. ¹² But many of the priests and Levites and of the heads of the fathers, who were ancient men that had seen the first house, as the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice while many shouted aloud for joy: ¹³ so that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.

A Psalm of David. ¶ The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy saving health how greatly shall he rejoice!

¹³ Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy valour.

²² ¶ I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation I will praise thee. ²³ Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel. ²⁴ For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the poor in spirit; neither has he hid his face from him, but when he cried unto him, he heard. ²⁵ My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation; I will pay my vows before those that fear him.

⁶ ¶ I will wash my hands in innocency, so I will walk near unto thine altar, O LORD: ⁷ That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.

³ O send out thy light and thy truth; let them lead me; let them bring me unto the mountain of thy holiness and to thy tabernacles. ⁴ Then I will enter in to the altar of God, unto the God of my exceeding joy; yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

⁴ Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his face continually.

⁵ Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have; for he has said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

¹¹ And David said to Abishai, and to all his slaves, Behold, my son, who came forth of my bowels, seeks my life; how much more now a son of Jemini? Let him alone, and let him curse, for the LORD has bidden him.

⁸ I am become a stranger unto my brethren and an alien unto my mother’s sons.

⁹ They are all plain to him that understands and right to those that have found wisdom.

¹⁹ ¶ The way of the slothful man is as a hedge of thorns, but the path of the righteous is made plain.

²⁰ But the Lord shall give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction; thy rain shall never more be taken away, but thine eyes shall see thy rain: ²¹ Then thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, that ye not turn to the right hand and that ye not turn to the left hand.

¹⁰ For I heard the murmuring of many, fear on every side, Report, and we will report it. All my friends watched to see if I would stumble. Peradventure he will deceive himself, they said, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

⁴ Then the presidents and governors looked for occasions against Daniel on behalf of the kingdom, but they could find no occasion or fault because he was faithful, and no vice nor fault was found in him. ⁵ Then these men said, We shall never find any occasion against this Daniel except we find it against him in the law of his God.

¹¹ Then they suborned men, who said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God. ¹² And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes and came upon him and caught him and brought him to the council ¹³ and set up false witnesses, who said, This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law,

¹ ¶ And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, came unto the prince of the priests

¹¹ And I punished them often in every synagogue and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto foreign cities.

¹³ Man never knew its price; neither is it found in the land of the living.

³⁰ to turn back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

¹⁹ ¶ Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for those that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for those that wait in thee before the sons of men!

⁵ Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted against me? Wait thou for God, for I shall yet praise him for the wellbeing of his presence.

⁵ God shall likewise cast thee down for ever; he shall cut thee off and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.

³ When I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

¹³ For thou hast delivered my life from death; thou hast kept my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living.

⁹ I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. ¹⁰ ¶ I believed, therefore I spoke, and was greatly afflicted; ¹¹ I said in my haste, All men are liars.

⁵ I cried unto thee, O LORD; I said, Thou art my hope and my portion in the land of the living.

¹⁹ But I was like a ram or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; for I did not understand that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living that his name may no longer be remembered.

²⁰ And I shall bring thee down with those that descend into the grave, with the people of the age, and shall set thee in the lowest part of the earth, as the deserts of old, with those that go down to the grave, that thou not be inhabited again; and I shall set glory in the land of the living;

¹ ¶ Therefore seeing we have this ministry, according to the mercy we have received, we fault not,

⁸ ¶ We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are unsure of our lives, but not in despair; ⁹ persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; ¹⁰ always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. ¹¹ For we who live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. ¹² So then death works in us, but life in you. ¹³ We having the same Spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed and, therefore, I have spoken; we also believe and, therefore, speak; ¹⁴ knowing that he who raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise us up also by Jesus and shall present us with you.

¹⁶ Therefore we fault not; but though our outward man is wearing out, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

⁸ For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God,

⁵ My soul, rest thou only in God, for my hope is from him.

⁵ ¶ I have waited for the LORD, my soul has waited, and for his word I have waited.

³ In the day when I called, thou didst answer me and strengthen me with strength in my soul.

²² ¶ Say not thou, I will take vengeance, but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

¹⁷ And I will wait for the LORD, who hid his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

⁹ ¶ And it shall be said in that day, Behold, this is our God, whom we have waited for, and he has saved us: this is the LORD, whom we have waited for, we will be glad and rejoice in his saving health.

⁸ Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, we wait for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name and to the remembrance of thee.

¹⁸ ¶ And therefore will the LORD wait for you, that he may have mercy on you, and therefore will he be exalted having mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all those that wait for him.

³¹ but those that wait for the LORD shall have new strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

²⁶ Teth It is good to wait quietly in the salvation of the LORD.

³ For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not lie; though it tarry, wait for it because it will surely come; wait for it.

²⁵ ¶ And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

³⁸ And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord and spoke of him to all those that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

¹⁵ And from there, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii Forum and The Three Taverns whom when Paul saw, he thanked God and took courage.

²⁵ But if we wait for that which we do not see, with patience we wait for it.

¹³ ¶ Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.

⁹ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I will rather glory in my weaknesses that the power of Christ may dwell in me. ¹⁰ Therefore I am content in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake, for when I am weak, then am I strong.
