¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent unto me lest, if thou be silent unto me, I become like those that go down into the grave. ² Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward the oracle of thy holiness. ³ Do not catch me away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbours, but evil is in their hearts. ⁴ Give them according to their deeds and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render unto them their desert. ⁵ Because they do not regard the works of the LORD nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them and not build them up. ⁶ ¶ Blessed be the LORD because he has heard the voice of my supplications. ⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song I will praise him. ⁸ The LORD is the strength of his people, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. ⁹ Save thy people and bless thine inheritance; feed them also and lift them up for ever.

²⁸ God will ransom his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

⁴ ¶ I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he answered me out of the mountain of his holiness. Selah.

² Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God, for unto thee will I pray.

² The LORD is my rock and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

² O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

⁹ What profit is there in my blood when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? Shall it declare thy truth?

²² This thou hast seen, O LORD; do not keep silence; O Lord, do not be far from me.

¹² Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.

⁹ I will say unto God, My rock, why hast thou forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

¹⁵ Let not the violent force of the waters overcome me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

A Psalm of Asaph. ¶ I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.

¹ A Song or Psalm of Asaph. ¶ Do not keep silence, O God; do not hold thy peace, and do not be still, O God.

⁴ I am counted with those that go down into the pit; I am as a man that has no strength: ⁵ Freed among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou dost remember no more; and they are cut off from thy hand. ⁶ Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.

A Prayer when he was in the cave. ¶ I shall cry unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice shall I ask the LORD for mercy.

⁷ ¶ Hear me speedily, O LORD; my spirit fails; hide not thy face from me lest I be like those that go down into the grave.

¹² Let us swallow them up alive as Sheol and whole as those that go down into the pit;

⁴ Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in JAH, the LORD is the strength of the ages:

¹⁸ For the grave shall not confess thee, nor shall death praise thee; nor shall those that go down into the pit wait for thy truth.

³ and cast him into the bottomless pit and shut him up and set a seal upon it, that he should deceive the Gentiles no more, until the thousand years should be fulfilled; and after it is necessary that he be loosed a little while.

¹⁹ And he prepared the oracle in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD.

²² And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house; also the whole altar that was in front of the oracle he overlaid with gold. ²³ And within the oracle he made two cherubims of olive wood, each ten cubits high.

⁶ And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the oracle of the house, in the holy of holies, under the wings of the cherubim. ⁷ For the cherubim had their wings extended over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its staves from above. ⁸ And they drew out the staves so that the ends of the staves could be seen out in the holy place in front of the oracle, but they could not be seen from outside, and thus they remained until today.

²⁸ Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy slave and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy slave prays before thee today, ²⁹ that thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there that thou may hearken unto the prayer which thy slave shall make in this place. ³⁰ Therefore, thou shalt hearken unto the supplication of thy slave and of thy people Israel when they shall pray in this place and hear in thy dwelling place, from the heavens; please hear and forgive.

³⁸ every prayer and every supplication made by any man or by all thy people Israel, when anyone knows the plague of his own heart and spreads forth his hands toward this house,

¹³ For Solomon had made a brasen scaffold, five cubits long and five cubits wide and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and upon it he stood and knelt down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel and spread forth his hands toward heaven

⁷ ¶ But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear I will worship toward thy holy temple.

⁴ Thus will I bless thee in my life; in thy name shall I lift up my hands.

⁵ As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall take them away with the workers of iniquity; and peace shall be upon Israel.

² Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.

² I will worship the temple of thy holiness and praise thy name above thy mercy and thy truth; for thou hast made thy name to be magnificent and raised up thy spoken word above all things.

⁶ I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.

² Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense, the gift of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

⁶ I stretched forth my hands unto thee; my soul thirsted after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

¹⁹ Koph Arise, cry out in the night; in the beginning of the watches; pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord; lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children that faint for hunger in the top of every street.

¹⁰ Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he entered into his house; and with the windows open toward Jerusalem in his dining chamber, he knelt three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God as he was used to doing before.

⁸ I desire, therefore, that the men in every place, pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and strife.

²⁶ And he spoke unto the congregation, saying, Depart from the tents of these wicked men and touch nothing of theirs lest peradventure ye be consumed in all their sins.

¹⁴ Behold, he travails with iniquity and has conceived of his own work and brought forth falsehood.

⁷ His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

¹⁴ Thou hast seen it, for thou dost behold mischief and spite to requite it with thy hand: the poor commits himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.

² Each one speaks vanity with his neighbour: they speak with flattering lips and with a double heart.

⁹ Gather not my soul with the sinners, nor my life with those who have blood on their hands:

⁴ He devises iniquity upon his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not abhor evil.

¹ To the Overcomer, Maschil,
A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. ¶ Why dost thou boast of evil, O strong man? The mercy of God is day by day.

²¹ The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

⁴ They only consult to cast him down from his greatness; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but they curse in their inward parts. Selah.

²³ ¶ Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross. ²⁴ ¶ He that hates dissembles with his lips and lays up deceit within him; ²⁵ when he speaks fair, do not believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart. ²⁶ Even though his hatred is covered up in the desert, his wickedness shall be showed before the whole congregation.

⁸ Their tongue is as a sharp arrow; it speaks deceit: one speaks peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth but in heart he lays in wait. ⁹ Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the LORD; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

⁵ Thus hath the LORD said concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that does not give them something to eat, they even prepare war against him.

¹⁵ ¶ Then the Pharisees left and took counsel how they might entangle him in his word. ¹⁶ And they sent out unto him their disciples with those of Herod, saying, Master, we know that thou art a lover of truth and teachest the way of God with truth and that thou takest care for no man, for thou art no respecter of persons of men. ¹⁷ Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar or not? ¹⁸ But Jesus perceived their wickedness and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?

⁴¹ Then he shall also say unto those who shall be on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels;

⁴⁶ And they shall go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

¹³ And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guiltiness, seeing that thou our God hast intervened that we no longer be oppressed because of our iniquities and hast given us such an escape as this,

¹ ¶ Why do the Gentiles rage, and the peoples imagine a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his anointed, saying, ³ let us break their bands asunder and cast away their cords from us. ⁴ He that sits in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. ⁵ Then he shall speak unto them in his wrath and trouble them in his sore displeasure.

¹⁰ Declare them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out for the multitude of their rebellions; for they have rebelled against thee.

¹⁰ Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth and their seed from among the children of men.

¹² For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips, let them even be taken in their pride; they shall be subject to weakness and to a curse. ¹³ Consume them in wrath, consume them that they may not be and let them know that God rules in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.

¹² Also unto thee, O Lord, belongs mercy, for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

²² ¶ Let their table become a snare before them, and that which should have been for their prosperity, let it become a stumbling block. ²³ Let their eyes be darkened that they see not and make their loins continually to shake. ²⁴ Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.

³ Who forgives all thine iniquities; who heals all thy diseases; ⁴ who redeems thy life from destruction; who crowns thee with mercy and compassion;

¹⁰ He has not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

¹⁷ As he loved the curse, so let it come unto him; as he delighted not in the blessing, so let it be far from him. ¹⁸ As he clothed himself with the curse like as with his garment, and it entered into his bowels like water and like oil into his bones. ¹⁹ Let it be unto him as the garment which covers him and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually. ²⁰ Let this be the reward from the LORD of those who spoke falsely against me and of those that speak evil against my soul. ²¹ ¶ And thou, O GOD the Lord, do unto me for thy name’s sake; because thy mercy is good, deliver me.

²¹ Therefore deliver up their sons to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle. ²² Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them; for they have dug a pit to take me and hid snares for my feet. ²³ Yet, LORD, thou dost know all their counsel against me to slay me; do not forgive their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.

¹⁰ Thus hath the Lord GOD said: It shall also come to pass in that day, that words shall rise up in thy heart, and thou shalt conceive an evil thought:

⁶ who will render to everyone according to his deeds: ⁷ to those who persevered in well doing, glory and honour and incorruption, to those who seek eternal life; ⁸ but unto those that are contentious and do not obey the truth, but are persuaded by unrighteousness, indignation and wrath.

²² Behold, therefore, the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity, but toward thee, goodness if thou continue in his goodness; otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

¹⁴ Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

⁶ Reward her even as she rewarded you and pay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has given thee to drink, give her double.

¹² And, behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, to give each one according as his work shall be.

²³ Because there is no enchantment in Jacob, neither is there any divination in Israel. According to this time, it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What God has made!

¹³ He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

²⁷ For thou, O LORD of the hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy slave, saying, I will build thee a house. Therefore, thy slave has found it in his heart to pray this prayer in thy presence.

³⁸ And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee and wilt walk in my ways and do that which is right in my sight, keeping my statutes and my commandments, as David, my slave, did, that I will be with thee and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.

²⁶ He shall strike them as wicked men in the open sight of others ²⁷ because thus they turned back from him and would not consider any of his ways

³ ¶ When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

⁵ His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight; as for all his enemies, he puffs at them.

¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm of David. ¶ The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows the work of his hands. ² One day provides a word for the next day, and one night declares wisdom unto the next night.

⁴ For thou, O LORD, hast made me glad with thy work; I will delight in the works of thy hands. ⁵ O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. ⁶ A carnal man does not know, neither does a fool understand this:

²⁴ O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom thou hast made them all; the earth is full of thy riches.

² Gimel The works of the LORD are great, Daleth sought out by all those that have pleasure therein. ³ He Honor and beauty are his work; Vau and his righteousness endures for ever. ⁴ Zain He has made his wonderful works to be remembered; Cheth The LORD is gracious and merciful.

¹² And the harp and the viol, the tambourine and flutes and wine are in their feasts; but they do not regard the work of the LORD, nor consider the work of his hands.

¹¹ Ye also made a moat between the two walls with the water of the old pool, but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, nor had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.

⁹ With my soul I desire thee in the night; yea, even as long as the spirit is within me I will seek thee early: for as long as thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. ¹⁰ Let favour be showed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness he will deal unjustly and will not behold the majesty of the LORD. ¹¹ LORD, when thy hand is withdrawn, they will not see: but they shall see in the end and be ashamed with the zeal of the people. And fire shall consume thine enemies.

²⁶ Lift up your eyes on high and behold who has created these things; he brings out his host by number; he calls them all by their names; none shall be lacking by the greatness of his might and by the strength of his power.

⁸ Release, ye heavens, from above, and the clouds shall pour down righteous ness; let the earth open up, and let salvation and righteousness bear their fruit; let them produce fruit together; I the LORD have created it.

¹² I have made the earth, and created man upon it, I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens and I have commanded all their host.

¹⁸ For thus has the LORD said that creates the heavens; God himself that forms the earth, he who made it and established it. He did not create it in vain; he created it to be inhabited; I am the LORD; and there is no one else.

¹² He that makes the earth by his power, he that orders the world with his wisdom and extends the heavens with his intelligence: ¹³ at his voice, there is given a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causes the clouds to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes the lightnings with the rain and brings forth the wind out of his treasures.

⁴ Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tambourines and shalt go forth in the chorus of dancers.

²⁰ who hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and in the man, and hast made thee a name, as at this day; ²¹ and hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and with wonders, and with a strong hand and with a stretched out arm and with great terror;

⁹ Who is wise that he might understand this? and prudent that he might know this? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them; but the rebellious shall fall therein.

³⁷ ¶ But although he had done so many signs before them, yet they did not believe in him,

²⁰ For the invisible things of him, his eternal power and divinity, are clearly understood by the creation of the world and by the things that are made so that there is no excuse;

²⁸ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a perverse understanding, to do those things which are not convenient,

¹⁹ and what is the exceeding greatness of his power in us who believe, by the operation of the power of his strength, ²⁰ which operated in the Christ, raising him from the dead and setting him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come,

²¹ Blessed be the LORD, for he has shown me his marvellous mercy in a strong city. ²² For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes; nevertheless thou hast heard the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.

¹⁹ But verily God has heard me; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. ²⁰ Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer nor his mercy from me.

³³ For the LORD hears the destitute and does not despise his prisoners. ³⁴ Let the heavens and the earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moves in them.

¹⁹ Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. ²⁰ He sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their graves. ²¹ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam! ²² And let them offer the sacrifices of praise and publish his works with singing.

¹ ¶ I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications. ² Because he has inclined his ear unto me, therefore I will call upon him all of my days.

⁵ From a tight place I called upon JAH; and JAH answered me and set me in a wide place.

¹ ¶ After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram; I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

¹ ¶ Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song unto the LORD and spoke, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. ² The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my saving health; he is my God, and I will prepare him a habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. ³ The LORD is a man of war; the LORD is his name. ⁴ Pharaoh’s chariots and his host he has cast into the sea; his chosen princes also are drowned in the Red sea. ⁵ The depths have covered them; they sank into the bottom as a stone. ⁶ Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power; thy right hand, O LORD, has dashed the enemy in pieces. ⁷ And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown those that rose up against thee; thou didst send forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble. ⁸ And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as a heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea. ⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my soul shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them. ¹⁰ Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them. They sank as lead in the mighty waters. ¹¹ Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like thee, magnificent in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? ¹² Thou didst stretch out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them. ¹³ Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed; thou hast guided them in thy strength unto the habitation of thy holiness. ¹⁴ The peoples shall hear and be afraid; sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Philistia. ¹⁵ Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling, shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. ¹⁶ Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone, until thy people pass over, O LORD, until the people pass over, which thou hast purchased. ¹⁷ Thou shalt bring them in and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place of thy dwelling which thou hast made ready, O LORD, in the Sanctuary of the Lord, which thy hands have established. ¹⁸ The LORD shall reign for ever and ever. ¹⁹ For Pharaoh went in on horseback with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the sons of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea. ²⁰ And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. ²¹ And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.

¹ ¶ Then sang Deborah with Barak, the son of Abinoam, on that day, saying, ² Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves. ³ Hear, O ye kings. Give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will praise the LORD God of Israel. ⁴ LORD, when thou didst go out of Seir, when thou didst march out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped; the clouds also dropped water. ⁵ The mountains melted from before the LORD, even that Sinai from before the LORD God of Israel. ⁶ ¶ In the days of Shamgar, the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways ceased, and those that walked went astray through crooked paths. ⁷ The inhabitants of the villages ceased; they had ceased in Israel until I Deborah arose, I arose a mother in Israel. ⁸ When they chose new gods, the war was at the gates. Was there a shield or spear to be seen among forty thousand in Israel? ⁹ My heart is toward the princes of Israel, those that offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless ye the LORD. ¹⁰ Speak, ye that ride on white asses, ye that preside in judgment, and walk by the way. ¹¹ Because of the noise of archers, taken from among those that draw water, there they shall retell the righteousnesses of the LORD, even the righteousnesses of his villages in Israel. Now shall the people of the LORD go down to the gates. ¹² ¶ Rise up, rise up, Deborah; rise up, rise up, sing a song. Stand up, Barak and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam. ¹³ Now he has made the remnant of the people to have dominion over the magnificent; the LORD made me have dominion over the mighty. ¹⁴ Out of Ephraim came his root against Amalek; after thee, came Benjamin, against thy peoples; out of Machir came down princes; and from Zebulun, those that handle the pen of the writer. ¹⁵ Also princes of Issachar were with Deborah; and Issachar, like Barak, went on foot into the valley. From the divisions of Reuben, great are the thoughts of the heart. ¹⁶ Why didst thou abide among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? From the divisions of Reuben great are the searchings of the heart. ¹⁷ Gilead remained on the other side of the Jordan, and why did Dan remain next to the ships? Asher continued on the sea shore and remained in his breaches. ¹⁸ Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field. ¹⁹ The kings came and fought; then the kings of Canaan fought in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money. ²⁰ They fought from the heavens; the stars from their ways fought against Sisera. ²¹ The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. Tread down, O my soul, with strength. ²² Then were the hoofs of the horses broken by the means of the pransings, the pransings of their mighty ones. ²³ Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof because they did not come to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty. ²⁴ ¶ Blessed above women shall Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, be; blessed shall she be above women in the tent. ²⁵ He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth cream in a lordly dish. ²⁶ She put her hand to the stake, and her right hand to the workmen’s hammer, and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head when she had pierced and stricken through his temples. ²⁷ At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down; at her feet he bowed, he fell; where he bowed, there he fell down dead. ²⁸ The mother of Sisera looked out the window and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why do the wheels of his chariots tarry? ²⁹ Her wise princesses answered her; and she even answered to herself, ³⁰ Have they not found spoil and are dividing it? To each man a damsel or two; to Sisera a spoil of different colours, a spoil of different colours of needlework, of different colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of those that take the spoil? ³¹ So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD, but let those that love thee be as the sun when he rises in all his might. And the land had rest forty years.

¹ ¶ And Hannah prayed and said, My heart rejoices in the LORD, my horn is exalted in the LORD; my mouth is enlarged over my enemies because I have rejoiced in thy saving health. ² There is none holy as the LORD, for there is none beside thee; neither is there any strong One like our God. ³ Do not multiply thyself speaking great and lofty things; let arrogant words cease from your mouth, for the LORD is the all-knowing God, and the magnificent works are his. ⁴ The bows of the mighty men have been broken, and the weak are girded with strength. ⁵ Those that were full have hired themselves out for bread, and those that were hungry ceased so that the barren has given birth to seven, and she that has many children is waxed feeble. ⁶ The LORD kills, and he gives life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up. ⁷ The LORD makes poor and makes rich; he brings low and lifts up. ⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill to set them among princes and to make them inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and he has set the world upon them. ⁹ He keeps the feet of his saints, and the wicked perish in darkness, for no man shall prevail by their own strength. ¹⁰ LORD, thine adversaries shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven he shall thunder upon them. The LORD shall judge the ends of the earth, and he shall give strength unto his king and exalt the horn of his anointed. {Heb. Messiah} ¹¹ ¶ And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child ministered unto the LORD before Eli the priest.

¹ ¶ And David spoke the words of this song unto the LORD in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies and out of the hand of Saul. ² ¶ And he said, The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. ³ God is my Strong One; in him will I trust: he is my shield and the horn of my saving health; my defence and my refuge; my saviour, who shall save me from violence. ⁴ I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies. ⁵ When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of Belial made me afraid; ⁶ when the cords of Sheol compassed me about; the snares of death came before me; ⁷ in my distress I called upon the LORD and cried to my God, who heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry entered into his ears. ⁸ Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of the heavens were moved and shook because he was wroth. ⁹ Smoke went up from his nostrils, and fire devoured out of his mouth; coals were kindled by it. ¹⁰ And he lowered the heavens and came down, and darkness was under his feet. ¹¹ And he rode upon a cherub and flew; and he appeared upon the wings of the wind. ¹² He placed darkness like tabernacles round about him, dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. ¹³ From the brightness of his presence, coals of fire were kindled. ¹⁴ The LORD thundered from the heavens, and the most High uttered his voice; ¹⁵ he sent out arrows and scattered them; he sent forth lightning, and consumed them. ¹⁶ Then the springs of the sea appeared and the foundations of the world were uncovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils. ¹⁷ He extended his hand from above, he took me; he drew me out of the impetuous waters; ¹⁸ he delivered me from strong enemies, from those that hated me, who were stronger than I. ¹⁹ They came upon me unawares in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my stay. ²⁰ He brought me forth into a large place; he delivered me, because he had put his will in me. ²¹ The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has recompensed me. ²² For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²³ For I have all his ordinances before me and am attentive to his statutes; I will not depart from them. ²⁴ And I was perfect before him and have kept myself from my iniquity. ²⁵ Therefore, the LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness before his eyes. ²⁶ With the merciful thou art good, and with the perfect thou art upright. ²⁷ With the pure thou art pure, and with the perverse thou art an adversary. ²⁸ Thou wilt save the poor in spirit; but thine eyes are upon the haughty that thou may bring them down. ²⁹ For thou art my lamp, O LORD, and the LORD gives light unto my darkness. ³⁰ For in thee I have run through a troop; with my God I have gone over the walls. ³¹ As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is purified; he is a shield to all those that trust in him. ³² For what God is there except the LORD? Or who is a Strong One, except our God? ³³ God is he who strengthens me with virtue; he who clears my way; ³⁴ he who makes my feet like hinds’ feet, and he who sets me upon my high places; ³⁵ he who trains my hands for war and causes my arms to break the bow of bronze. ³⁶ Thou hast also given me the shield of thy saving health, and thy meekness has multiplied me. ³⁷ Thou hast enlarged my steps under me so that my knees did not shake. ³⁸ I have pursued my enemies and destroyed them and did not return until I had consumed them. ³⁹ And I consumed them and wounded them, and they did not arise; they are fallen under my feet. ⁴⁰ For thou hast girded me with strength for the battle; thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. ⁴¹ Thou hast given me the necks of my enemies, of those that hate me, that I might cut them off. ⁴² They looked, but there was no one to save them; even unto the LORD, but he did not answer them. ⁴³ Then I beat them as small as the dust of the earth; I stamped them as the mire of the street and spread them abroad. ⁴⁴ Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of peoples; thou hast kept me to be head of the Gentiles; peoples whom I did not know have served me. ⁴⁵ The strangers trembled before my command; as soon as they heard, they obeyed me. ⁴⁶ The strangers withered away and trembled in their close places. ⁴⁷ The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God who is the rock of my salvation. ⁴⁸ The God who has given me revenge and who subjects the peoples under me, ⁴⁹ who brings me forth from among my enemies; thou hast lifted me up on high from among those that rose up against me; thou hast delivered me from the man of violence. ⁵⁰ Therefore, I will confess thee among the Gentiles, O LORD, and I will sing unto thy name. ⁵¹ He who makes great the saving health of his king and shows mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for ever.

³ But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory and the lifter up of my head.

⁵ But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

⁹ Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices: my flesh also shall rest secure. ¹⁰ For thou wilt not leave my soul in Sheol; neither wilt thou suffer thy Merciful One to see corruption. ¹¹ Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; in thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

¹ To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David, the slave of the LORD, who spoke unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said, ¶ I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. ² The LORD is my rock and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm of David. ¶ The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy saving health how greatly shall he rejoice!

⁴ Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

⁸ The LORD is the strength of his people, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

¹¹ Thou hast turned my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness; ¹² to the end that I may sing glory unto thee and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

²¹ Therefore our heart shall rejoice in him because we have trusted in the name of his holiness.

³ And he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God; many shall see it and fear and shall wait on the LORD.

¹ To the Overcomer:
for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. ¶ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in tribulation.

³ When I am afraid, I will trust in thee. ⁴ In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

³ But the righteous shall be glad; they shall rejoice before God; they shall dance with joy. ⁴ Sing unto God, sing psalms unto his name; extol him that rides upon the heavens by his name JAH and rejoice before him.

³⁰ ¶ I will praise the name of God with a song and will magnify him with praises.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield unto us; the LORD will give grace and glory; he will not withhold good from those that walk uprightly.

⁴ He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings thou shalt be secure: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

¹ ¶ O sing unto the LORD a new song; sing unto the LORD, all the earth. ² Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; show forth his saving health from day to day. ³ Declare his glory among the Gentiles, his wonders among all peoples.

⁶ The LORD is for me; I will not fear what man can do unto me. ⁷ The LORD takes my part with those that help me; therefore I shall see my desire upon those that hate me. ⁸ It is better to wait upon the LORD than to wait upon man. ⁹ It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

¹³ Thou hast thrust at me with violence that I might fall, but the LORD helped me. ¹⁴ JAH is my strength and song and is become my saving health. ¹⁵ The voice of singing and saving health is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

² Behold, O God my saving health, I will trust and not be afraid for JAH, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he also is become saving health unto me.

²⁴ And unto me he shall say, Surely in the LORD is the righteousness and the strength; until he shall come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.

¹⁰ ¶ I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of saving health; he has surrounded me with the robe of righteousness; as a bridegroom he has arrayed me, and as a bride made up of his jewels.

¹⁰ ¶ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.

⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book and to open its seals, for thou wast slain and hast redeemed us unto God by thy blood, out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation

³ And they sing the song of Moses, the slave of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

¹³ Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him from among his brethren; and the Spirit of the LORD prospered David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his anointed, saying,

⁶ ¶ Now know I that the LORD has kept his anointed; he will hear him from the heavens of his holiness with the saving valour of his right hand.

⁷ O GOD the Lord, the strength of my saving health, cover thou my head in the day of battle.

¹ ¶ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me because the LORD has anointed me; he has sent me to preach good tidings unto those who are cast down; to bind up the wounds of the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those that are bound;

³¹ and in the wilderness thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bore thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went until ye came into this place.

²⁹ Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou didst bring out by thy mighty power and by thy outstretched arm.

⁹ For the LORD’s portion is his people; Jacob is the measuring line of his inheritance.

⁷ In all the places in which I have walked with all the sons of Israel did I speak a word in any of the tribes of Israel, unto whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why did ye not build me a house of cedar?

³ Therefore, David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? And with what shall I make reconciliation that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?

⁵¹ for they are thy people and thy inheritance, which thou didst bring forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the iron furnace.

⁵³ For thou didst separate them from among all the peoples of the earth, to be thy inheritance, as thou didst speak by the hand of Moses, thy slave, when thou didst bring our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.

⁴ And whoever may remain of all the places where they remained a stranger, let the men of his place help him with silver and with gold and with goods and with beasts, with freewill gifts for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.

⁷ Oh that the saving health of Israel were come out of Zion! When the LORD turns back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

²² Pe Ransom Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

⁷¹ from following the ewes great with young, he brought him to feed Jacob his people and Israel his inheritance.

¹⁴ Return, we beseech thee, O God of the hosts: look down from heaven and behold and visit this vine ¹⁵ and the vineyard which thy right hand has planted and the branch that thou didst make strong for thyself. ¹⁶ It is burned with fire; it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance. ¹⁷ Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou didst make strong for thyself, ¹⁸ so we will not go back from thee. Thou shalt quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. ¹⁹ Turn us again, O LORD God of the hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

¹¹ He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; he shall gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom and shall gently lead those that are with young.

³ Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb:

⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the Angel of his face saved them: with his love and with his clemency he redeemed them; and he bore them and carried them all the days of the age.

¹⁶ The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the Former of all things, and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of the hosts is his name.

⁷ For thus hath the LORD said; Rejoice in Jacob with joy, and give shouts of joy at the head of the Gentiles; cause this to be heard, give praise, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

²³ And I will raise up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my slave David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. ²⁴ And I the LORD will be their God, and my slave David prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.

² But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be Lord in Israel; and his goings forth are from the beginning, from the days of the ages.

⁴ And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide; for now he shall be great unto the ends of the earth.

¹⁴ ¶ Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell only in the mountain, in the midst of Carmel; let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the time of old.

⁶ And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda, for out of thee shall come a Leader that shall shepherd my people Israel.

¹⁸ illuminating the eyes of your understanding, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints
