⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

⁶ How much less man, that is a worm! and the son of man, which is a worm!

¹ For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.

¹¹ Because of all mine adversaries I am become a reproach, yea, unto my neighbours exceedingly, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.

⁷ Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face. ⁸ I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children. ⁹ For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproach thee are fallen upon me. ¹⁰ When I wept, [and chastened] my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. ¹¹ When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a proverb unto them. ¹² They that sit in the gate talk of me; and [I am] the song of the drunkards.

¹⁹ Thou knowest my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee. ²⁰ Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

⁸ Thou hast put mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

¹⁴ Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

⁷ Thus saith the LORD, the redeemer of Israel, [and] his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of the LORD that is faithful, [even] the Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee.

³ He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

³⁰ Let him give his cheek to him that smiteth him; let him be filled full with reproach.

¹⁹ The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! And wisdom is justified by her works.

²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This man doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

²⁰ Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. ²¹ But the governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? And they said, Barabbas. ²² Pilate saith unto them, What then shall I do unto Jesus which is called Christ? They all say, Let him be crucified. ²³ And he said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out exceedingly, saying, Let him be crucified.

¹⁵ The Jews therefore marveled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

²⁰ The multitude answered, Thou hast a devil: who seeketh to kill thee?

⁴⁷ The Pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also led astray? ⁴⁸ Hath any of the rulers believed on him, or of the Pharisees? ⁴⁹ But this multitude which knoweth not the law are accursed.

⁴⁸ The Jews answered and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?

¹² Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people through his own blood, suffered without the gate.

³ And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, O Lord God, the Almighty; righteous and true are thy ways, thou King of the ages.
