³ And they returned to Joshua and said to him, Do not let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and kill* Ai. Do not make all the people to toil there, for they are but few.

⁴ The soul of the sluggard desires and has nothing, but the soul of the diligent will be made fat.

²⁵ The desire of the sluggard kills him, because his hands refuse to labor.

²⁴ Struggle to enter in through the narrow gate, because I am saying to you, Many will be seeking to enter in and will not be strong-enough.

¹¹ Therefore let us be diligent to enter into that rest, in order that no one should fall into the same example of disobedience.

¹¹ But we are desiring each of you to show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope till the end; ¹² in order that you should not become sluggish, but imitators of those who are inheriting the promises through faith and patience.

⁵ Now also for this same thing, besides having entered in all diligence, supply in your faith, virtue, and in your virtue, knowledge

¹⁰ Hence brethren, be more diligent to make your calling and choice steadfast; for, you may never trip someday while practicing these things;
