⁷ All those who see me mock me. They insult me with their lips. They shake their heads, saying,

⁴ I also could speak as you do. If your soul were in my soul's place, I could join words together against you, and shake my head at you,

¹⁰ They have gaped on me with their mouth. They have struck me on the cheek reproachfully. They gather themselves together against me.

⁹ "Now I have become their song. Yes, I am a byword to them. ¹⁰ They abhor me, they keep their distance from me, and do not hesitate to spit in my face. ¹¹ For he has untied his cord, and afflicted me; and they have thrown off restraint before me.

¹⁸ Let the lying lips be mute, which speak against the righteous insolently, with pride and contempt.

¹⁵ But in my adversity, they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together. The attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I did not know it. They tore at me, and did not cease. ¹⁶ When I tripped, they mocked me relentlessly; they gnashed their teeth at me.

¹⁴ You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

²⁵ I have also become a reproach to them. When they see me, they shake their head.

²² this is the word which the LORD has spoken concerning him. The virgin daughter of Zion has despised you and ridiculed you. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you. ²³ Whom have you defied and blasphemed? Against whom have you exalted your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? ⁴ Against whom are you mocking? Against whom do you make a wide mouth, and stick out your tongue? Aren't you children of rebellion, offspring of liars,

²⁴ he said, "Go away, for the girl is not dead, but asleep." And they laughed at him.

³⁹ Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, ⁴⁰ and saying, "You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself. If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross."

¹⁴ The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.

¹¹ Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him. Dressing him in luxurious clothing, they sent him back to Pilate.

³⁵ The people stood watching. The rulers also scoffed at him, saying, "He saved others. Let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his Chosen One." ³⁶ The soldiers also mocked him, coming to him and offering him vinegar, ³⁷ and saying, "If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself." ³⁸ An inscription was also written above him: "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS." ³⁹ One of the criminals who hung there insulted him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us."
