¹⁶ And the Lord God gave a charge to Adam, saying, "Of every tree which is in the garden for food, thou mightest have eaten;

⁹ And God caused to spring up there also out of that ground every tree beautiful to the sight and good for food, and the tree of life in the middle of the garden, and the tree for the purpose of knowing what was to be known of good and evil.

¹ Now the two, both Adam and his wife were naked, and were not ashamed. But the serpent was the wisest of all the beasts on the earth which the Lord God had made, and the serpent said to the woman, "Why hath God said, you must not eat of every tree of the garden?" ² And the woman said to the serpent, "Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;

²² And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in whole burnt offerings, and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold obedience is better than good sacrifice; and to hearken, is better than the fat of rams.

⁴ that every thing which God created is good, and nothing to be rejected; for when taken with thankfulness

¹⁷ Charge them who are rich in this present state not to be high minded; not to trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God who imparteth to us richly all things for enjoyment;
