Isaiah 17 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

2 H5892 The cities H6177 of Aroer H5800 are forsaken; H5739 they shall be for flocks, H7257 which shall lie down, H2729 and none shall make them afraid.

3 H4013 And the fortress H7673 shall cease H669 from Ephraim, H4467 and the kingdom H1834 from Damascus, H7605 and the remnant H758 of Syria; H3519 they shall be as the glory H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel, H5002 saith H3068 Jehovah H6635 of hosts.

4 H3117 And it shall come to pass in that day, H3519 that the glory H3290 of Jacob H1809 shall be made thin, H4924 and the fatness H1320 of his flesh H7329 shall wax lean.

5 H7105 And it shall be as when the harvestman H622 gathereth H7054 the standing grain, H2220 and his arm H7114 reapeth H7641 the ears; H3950 yea, it shall be as when one gleaneth H7641 ears H6010 in the valley H7497 of Rephaim.

6 H7604 Yet there shall be left H5955 therein gleanings, H5363 as the shaking H2132 of an olive-tree, H8147 two H7969 or three H1620 berries H7218 in the top H534 of the uppermost bough, H702 four H2568 or five H5585 in the outmost branches H6509 of a fruitful H5002 tree, saith H3068 Jehovah, H430 the God H3478 of Israel.

7 H3117 In that day H120 shall men H8159 look H6213 unto their Maker, H5869 and their eyes H7200 shall have respect H6918 to the Holy H3478 One of Israel.

8 H8159 And they shall not look H4196 to the altars, H4639 the work H3027 of their hands; H7200 neither shall they have respect H676 to that which their fingers H6213 have made, H842 either the Asherim, H2553 or the sun-images.

9 H3117 In that day H4581 shall their strong H5892 cities H5800 be as the forsaken H2793 places H534 in the wood H6440 and on the mountain top, which H5800 were forsaken H1121 from before the children H3478 of Israel; H8077 and it shall be a desolation.

10 H7911 For thou hast forgotten H430 the God H3468 of thy salvation, H2142 and hast not been mindful H6697 of the rock H4581 of thy strength; H5193 therefore thou plantest H5282 pleasant H5193 plants, H2232 and settest H2114 it with strange H2156 slips.

11 H3117 In the day H5194 of thy planting H7735 thou hedgest H1242 it in, and in the morning H2233 thou makest thy seed H6524 to blossom; H7105 but the harvest H5067 fleeth away H3117 in the day H2470 of grief H605 and of desperate H3511 sorrow.

12 H1945 Ah, H1995 the uproar H1995 of many H5971 peoples, H1993 that roar H1993 like the roaring H3220 of the seas; H7588 and the rushing H3816 of nations, H7582 that rush like the rushing H3524 of mighty H4325 waters!

13 H3816 The nations H7582 shall rush H7588 like the rushing H7227 of many H4325 waters: H1605 but he shall rebuke H5127 them, and they shall flee H4801 far off, H7291 and shall be chased H4671 as the chaff H2022 of the mountains H6440 before H7307 the wind, H1534 and like the whirling dust H6440 before H5492 the storm.

14 H6256 At eventide, H1091 behold, terror; H1242 and before the morning H2506 they are not. This is the portion H8154 of them that despoil H1486 us, and the lot H962 of them that rob us.
