CLV(i)
For there is expectation for a tree:If it is cut down, then it may rejuvenate again, And its young shoots may not be halted.
If its roots grow old in the earth, And its trunk-base seems to die in the soil,
At the scent of water it shall bud, And it produces harvest branches like a plant.
Yet a master shall die and be laid defeated; A human shall expire, and where is he?
As waters depart from the sea, And a stream is drained and dries up,
So a man lies down and shall not rise; Until the heavens fail, they shall not awake, Nor shall they rouse from their sleep.
