Psalms 73

BOOK III A Psalm: By Asaph. Surely Elohim is good to Yisra El - to the pure of heart. 2 But as for me, my feet spread; my steps unpour. 3 For I envy them who halal when I see the shalom of the wicked: 4 for there are no bands in their death: their might fattens; 5 they are neither in toil of man nor touched as humans. 6 So pomp chokes them; violence shrouds them as a masculine garment: 7 their eyes stand out with fat; they surpass the imagination of the heart: 8 they blaspheme and word evil concerning oppression; they word loftily: 9 they set their mouth against the heavens and their tongue walks through the earth. 10 So his people return here; and waters of fulness wring out to them. 11 And they say, How knows El? Is there knowledge in Elyon? 12 Behold, these are the wicked, - eternally serene who increase in valuables. 13 Surely I purify my heart in vain and wash my palms in innocency. 14 For all the day long I am touched and reproofed in the morning. 15 If I say, I scribe thus; behold, I deal covertly with the generation of your sons: 16 when I fabricated to know this, it is toilsome in my eyes 17 - until I go into the hallowed refuge of El - then I discern their finality. 18 Surely you set them in smooth places; you cast them down into ruins: 19 how they become a desolation - as in a blink! in consuming, they are consumed with terrors. 20 As a dream on wakening, O Adonay, when you waken, you despise their image. 21 Thus my heart embitters and I am pricked in my reins: 22 I am stupid and know not - as an animal in front of you. 23 And I am continually with you; you hold me by my right hand; 24 you lead me with your counsel and afterward take me to honor. 25 Whom have I in the heavens? I desire no one on earth beside you. 26 My flesh and my heart finish off; but Elohim is the rock of my heart and my allotment eternally. 27 For behold, they who are far from you destruct; you exterminate all who whore away from you. 28 and it is good for me to draw near to Elohim; I put my refuge in Adonay Yah Veh, so that I scribe all your works.
