KJV_Strongs(i)
H1732 And when David H4592 was a little H5674 past [H8804]   H7218 the top H6717 of the hill, behold, Ziba H5288 the servant H4648 of Mephibosheth H7125 met [H8800]   H6776 him, with a couple H2543 of asses H2280 saddled [H8803]   H3967 , and upon them two hundred H3899 loaves of bread H3967 , and an hundred H6778 bunches of raisins H3967 , and an hundred H7019 of summer fruits H5035 , and a bottle H3196 of wine.
H4428 And the king H559 said [H8799]   H6717 unto Ziba H6717 , What meanest thou by these? And Ziba H559 said [H8799]   H2543 , The asses H4428 be for the king's H1004 household H7392 to ride on [H8800]   H3899 ; and the bread H7019 and summer fruit H5288 for the young men H398 to eat [H8800]   H3196 ; and the wine H3287 , that such as be faint H4057 in the wilderness H8354 may drink [H8800]  .
H4428 And the king H559 said [H8799]   H113 , And where is thy master's H1121 son H6717 ? And Ziba H559 said [H8799]   H4428 unto the king H3427 , Behold, he abideth [H8802]   H3389 at Jerusalem H559 : for he said [H8804]   H3117 , To day H1004 shall the house H3478 of Israel H7725 restore [H8686]   H4468 me the kingdom H1 of my father.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H4428 the king H6717 to Ziba H4648 , Behold, thine are all that pertained unto Mephibosheth H6717 . And Ziba H559 said [H8799]   H7812 , I humbly [H8694]   H4672 beseech thee that I may find [H8799]   H2580 grace H5869 in thy sight H113 , my lord H4428 , O king.
H4428 And when king H1732 David H935 came [H8804]   H980 to Bahurim H3318 , behold, thence came out [H8802]   H376 a man H4940 of the family H1004 of the house H7586 of Saul H8034 , whose name H8096 was Shimei H1121 , the son H1617 of Gera H3318 : he came forth [H8802]   H7043 , and cursed [H8764]   H3318 still as he came [H8800]  .
H5619 And he cast [H8762]   H68 stones H1732 at David H5650 , and at all the servants H4428 of king H1732 David H5971 : and all the people H1368 and all the mighty men H3225 were on his right hand H8040 and on his left.
H559 And thus said [H8804]   H8096 Shimei H7043 when he cursed [H8763]   H3318 , Come out [H8798]   H3318 , come out [H8798]   H1818 , thou bloody H376 man H376 , and thou man H1100 of Belial:
H3068 The LORD H7725 hath returned [H8689]   H1818 upon thee all the blood H1004 of the house H7586 of Saul H4427 , in whose stead thou hast reigned [H8804]   H3068 ; and the LORD H5414 hath delivered [H8799]   H4410 the kingdom H3027 into the hand H53 of Absalom H1121 thy son H7451 : and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief H1818 , because thou art a bloody H376 man.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H52 Abishai H1121 the son H6870 of Zeruiah H4428 unto the king H4191 , Why should this dead [H8801]   H3611 dog H7043 curse [H8762]   H113 my lord H4428 the king H5674 ? let me go over [H8799]   H5493 , I pray thee, and take off [H8686]   H7218 his head.
H4428 And the king H559 said [H8799]   H1121 , What have I to do with you, ye sons H6870 of Zeruiah H7043 ? so let him curse [H8762]   H3068 , because the LORD H559 hath said [H8804]   H7043 unto him, Curse [H8761]   H1732 David H559 . Who shall then say [H8799]   H6213 , Wherefore hast thou done so [H8804]  ?
H1732 And David H559 said [H8799]   H52 to Abishai H5650 , and to all his servants H1121 , Behold, my son H3318 , which came forth [H8804]   H4578 of my bowels H1245 , seeketh [H8764]   H5315 my life H1145 : how much more now may this Benjamite H3240 do it ? let him alone [H8685]   H7043 , and let him curse [H8762]   H3068 ; for the LORD H559 hath bidden [H8804]   him.
H3068 It may be that the LORD H7200 will look [H8799]   H5869 on mine affliction [H8675]   H6040   H3068 , and that the LORD H7725 will requite [H8689]   H2896 me good H7045 for his cursing H3117 this day.
H1732 And as David H582 and his men H3212 went [H8799]   H1870 by the way H8096 , Shimei H1980 went along [H8802]   H2022 on the hill's H6763 side H5980 over against H7043 him, and cursed [H8762]   H1980 as he went [H8800]   H5619 , and threw [H8762]   H68 stones H5980 at H6080 him, and cast [H8765]   H6083 dust.
H4428 And the king H5971 , and all the people H935 that were with him, came [H8799]   H5889 weary H5314 , and refreshed [H8735]   themselves there.
H53 And Absalom H5971 , and all the people H376 the men H3478 of Israel H935 , came [H8804]   H3389 to Jerusalem H302 , and Ahithophel with him.
H2365 And it came to pass, when Hushai H757 the Archite H1732 , David's H7463 friend H935 , was come [H8804]   H53 unto Absalom H2365 , that Hushai H559 said [H8799]   H53 unto Absalom H2421 , God save [H8799]   H4428 the king H2421 , God save [H8799]   H4428 the king.
H53 And Absalom H559 said [H8799]   H2365 to Hushai H2617 , Is this thy kindness H7453 to thy friend H1980 ? why wentest [H8804]   H7453 thou not with thy friend?
H2365 And Hushai H559 said [H8799]   H53 unto Absalom H3068 , Nay; but whom the LORD H5971 , and this people H376 , and all the men H3478 of Israel H977 , choose [H8804]   H3427 , his will I be, and with him will I abide [H8799]  .
H8145 And again H5647 , whom should I serve [H8799]   H6440 ? should I not serve in the presence H1121 of his son H5647 ? as I have served [H8804]   H1 in thy father's H6440 presence H6440 , so will I be in thy presence.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H53 Absalom H302 to Ahithophel H3051 , Give [H8798]   H6098 counsel H6213 among you what we shall do [H8799]  .
H302 And Ahithophel H559 said [H8799]   H53 unto Absalom H935 , Go in [H8798]   H1 unto thy father's H6370 concubines H3240 , which he hath left [H8689]   H8104 to keep [H8800]   H1004 the house H3478 ; and all Israel H8085 shall hear [H8804]   H887 that thou art abhorred [H8738]   H1 of thy father H3027 : then shall the hands H2388 of all that are with thee be strong [H8804]  .
H5186 So they spread [H8686]   H53 Absalom H168 a tent H1406 upon the top of the house H53 ; and Absalom H935 went in [H8799]   H1 unto his father's H6370 concubines H5869 in the sight H3478 of all Israel.
H6098 And the counsel H302 of Ahithophel H3289 , which he counselled [H8804]   H3117 in those days H376 , was as if a man H7592 had enquired [H8799]   H1697 at the oracle H430 of God H6098 : so was all the counsel H302 of Ahithophel H1732 both with David H53 and with Absalom.
ERV(i) 1 And when David was a little past the top [of the ascent], behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine. 2 And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king’s household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink. 3 And the king said, And where is thy master’s son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, Today shall the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father. 4 Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine is all that pertaineth unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I do obeisance; let me find favour in thy sight, my lord, O king. 5 And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, there came out thence a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came out, and cursed still as he came. 6 And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left. 7 And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Begone, begone, thou man of blood, and man of Belial: 8 The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art [taken] in thine own mischief, because thou art a man of blood. 9 Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head. 10 And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? Because he curseth, and because the LORD hath said unto him, Curse David; who then shall say, Wherefore hast thou done so? 11 And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more [may] this Benjamite now [do it]? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him. 12 It may be that the LORD will look on the wrong done unto me, and that the LORD will requite me good for [his] cursing of me this day. 13 So David and his men went by the way: and Shimei went along on the hill side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust. 14 And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary; and he refreshed himself there. 15 And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him. 16 And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king. 17 And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend? 18 And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel have chosen, his will I be, and with him will I abide. 19 And again, whom should I serve? [should I] not [serve] in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father’s presence, so will I be in thy presence. 20 Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give your counsel what we shall do. 21 And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father’s concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong. 22 So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel. 23 And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
