KJV_Strongs(i)
H8123 And Samson H3381 went down [H8799]   H8553 to Timnath H7200 , and saw [H8799]   H802 a woman H8553 in Timnath H1323 of the daughters H6430 of the Philistines.
H5927 And he came up [H8799]   H5046 , and told [H8686]   H1 his father H517 and his mother H559 , and said [H8799]   H7200 , I have seen [H8804]   H802 a woman H8553 in Timnath H1323 of the daughters H6430 of the Philistines H3947 : now therefore get [H8798]   H802 her for me to wife.
H1 Then his father H517 and his mother H559 said [H8799]   H369 unto him, Is there never H802 a woman H1323 among the daughters H251 of thy brethren H5971 , or among all my people H1980 , that thou goest [H8802]   H3947 to take [H8800]   H802 a wife H6189 of the uncircumcised H6430 Philistines H8123 ? And Samson H559 said [H8799]   H1 unto his father H3947 , Get [H8798]   H3474 her for me; for she pleaseth me well [H8804]   H5869  .
H1 But his father H517 and his mother H3045 knew [H8804]   H3068 not that it was of the LORD H1245 , that he sought [H8764]   H8385 an occasion H6430 against the Philistines H6256 : for at that time H6430 the Philistines H4910 had dominion [H8802]   H3478 over Israel.
H3381 Then went H8123 Samson H3381 down [H8799]   H1 , and his father H517 and his mother H8553 , to Timnath H935 , and came [H8799]   H3754 to the vineyards H8553 of Timnath H3715 : and, behold, a young H738 lion H7580 roared [H8802]   H7125 against [H8800]   him.
H7307 And the Spirit H3068 of the LORD H6743 came mightily [H8799]   H8156 upon him, and he rent [H8762]   H8156 him as he would have rent [H8763]   H1423 a kid H3972 , and he had nothing H3027 in his hand H5046 : but he told [H8689]   H1 not his father H517 or his mother H6213 what he had done [H8804]  .
H3381 And he went down [H8799]   H1696 , and talked [H8762]   H802 with the woman H3474 ; and she pleased H8123 Samson H3474 well [H8799]   H5869  .
H3117 And after a time H7725 he returned [H8799]   H3947 to take [H8800]   H5493 her, and he turned aside [H8799]   H7200 to see [H8800]   H4658 the carcase H738 of the lion H5712 : and, behold, there was a swarm H1682 of bees H1706 and honey H1472 in the carcase H738 of the lion.
H7287 And he took [H8799]   H3709 thereof in his hands H3212 , and went on [H8799]   H398 eating [H8800]   H1980 , and came [H8800]   H1 to his father H517 and mother H5414 , and he gave [H8799]   H398 them, and they did eat [H8799]   H5046 : but he told [H8689]   H7287 not them that he had taken [H8804]   H1706 the honey H1472 out of the carcase H738 of the lion.
H1 So his father H3381 went down [H8799]   H802 unto the woman H8123 : and Samson H6213 made [H8799]   H4960 there a feast H970 ; for so used the young men H6213 to do [H8799]  .
H7200 And it came to pass, when they saw [H8800]   H3947 him, that they brought [H8799]   H7970 thirty H4828 companions to be with him.
H8123 And Samson H559 said [H8799]   H2330 unto them, I will now put forth [H8799]   H2420 a riddle H5046 unto you: if ye can certainly [H8687]   H5046 declare [H8686]   H7651 it me within the seven H3117 days H4960 of the feast H4672 , and find it out [H8804]   H5414 , then I will give [H8804]   H7970 you thirty H5466 sheets H7970 and thirty H2487 change H899 of garments:
H3201 But if ye cannot [H8799]   H5046 declare [H8687]   H5414 it me, then shall ye give [H8804]   H7970 me thirty H5466 sheets H7970 and thirty H2487 change H899 of garments H559 . And they said [H8799]   H2330 unto him, Put forth [H8798]   H2420 thy riddle H8085 , that we may hear [H8799]   it.
H559 And he said [H8799]   H398 unto them, Out of the eater [H8802]   H3318 came forth [H8804]   H3978 meat H5794 , and out of the strong H3318 came forth [H8804]   H4966 sweetness H3201 . And they could [H8804]   H7969 not in three H3117 days H5046 expound [H8687]   H2420 the riddle.
H7637 And it came to pass on the seventh H3117 day H559 , that they said [H8799]   H8123 unto Samson's H802 wife H6601 , Entice [H8761]   H376 thy husband H5046 , that he may declare [H8686]   H2420 unto us the riddle H8313 , lest we burn [H8799]   H1 thee and thy father's H1004 house H784 with fire H7121 : have ye called [H8804]   H3423 us to take that we have [H8800]  ? is it not so ?
H8123 And Samson's H802 wife H1058 wept [H8799]   H559 before him, and said [H8799]   H8130 , Thou dost but hate [H8804]   H157 me, and lovest [H8804]   H2330 me not: thou hast put forth [H8804]   H2420 a riddle H1121 unto the children H5971 of my people H5046 , and hast not told [H8689]   H559 it me. And he said [H8799]   H5046 unto her, Behold, I have not told [H8689]   H1 it my father H517 nor my mother H5046 , and shall I tell [H8686]   it thee?
H1058 And she wept [H8799]   H7651 before him the seven H3117 days H4960 , while their feast H1961 lasted [H8804]   H7637 : and it came to pass on the seventh H3117 day H5046 , that he told [H8686]   H6693 her, because she lay sore [H8689]   H5046 upon him: and she told [H8686]   H2420 the riddle H1121 to the children H5971 of her people.
H582 And the men H5892 of the city H559 said [H8799]   H7637 unto him on the seventh H3117 day H2775 before the sun H935 went down [H8799]   H4966 , What is sweeter H1706 than honey H5794 ? and what is stronger H738 than a lion H559 ? And he said [H8799]   H3884 unto them, If H2790 ye had not plowed [H8804]   H5697 with my heifer H4672 , ye had not found out [H8804]   H2420 my riddle.
H7307 And the Spirit H3068 of the LORD H6743 came [H8799]   H3381 upon him, and he went down [H8799]   H831 to Ashkelon H5221 , and slew [H8686]   H7970 thirty H376 men H3947 of them, and took [H8799]   H2488 their spoil H5414 , and gave [H8799]   H2487 change H5046 of garments unto them which expounded [H8688]   H2420 the riddle H639 . And his anger H2734 was kindled [H8799]   H5927 , and he went up [H8799]   H1 to his father's H1004 house.
H8123 But Samson's H802 wife H4828 was given to his companion H7462 , whom he had used as his friend [H8765]  .
ERV(i) 1 And Samson went down to Timnah, and saw a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines. 2 And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife. 3 Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well. 4 But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD; for he sought an occasion against the Philistines. Now at that time the Philistines had rule over Israel. 5 Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnah, and came to the vineyards of Timnah: and, behold, a young lion roared against him. 6 And the spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done. 7 And he went down, and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well. 8 And after a while he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees in the body of the lion, and honey. 9 And he took it into his hands, and went on, eating as he went, and he came to his father and mother, and gave unto them, and they did eat: but he told them not that he had taken the honey out of the body of the lion. 10 And his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do. 11 And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him. 12 And Samson said unto them, Let me now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty changes of raiment: 13 but if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of raiment. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it. 14 And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days declare the riddle. 15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson’s wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father’s house with fire: have ye called us to impoverish us? is it not [so]? 16 And Samson’s wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee? 17 And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she pressed him sore: and she told the riddle to the children of her people. 18 And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle. 19 And the spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and smote thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave the changes [of raiment] unto them that declared the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house. 20 But Samson’s wife was [given] to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.
