Ecclesiastes 2:19-26

  19 H3045 Who knows H2450 whether he will be a wise H5530 man or a fool? H7980 Yet he will have rule H5999 over all of my labor H5999 in which I have labored, H2449 and in which I have shown myself wise H8121 under the sun. H1892 This also is vanity.

  20 H5437 Therefore I began H2976 to cause H3820 my heart H2976 to despair H5999 concerning all the labor H5999 in which I had labored H8121 under the sun.

  21 H3426 For there is H120 a man H5999 whose labor H2451 is with wisdom, H1847 with knowledge, H5998 and with skillfulness; H5414 yet he shall leave H2506 it for his portion H120 to a man H5998 who has not labored H1892 for it. This also is vanity H7227 and a great H7451 evil.

  22 H1933 For what has H120 a man H5999 of all his labor, H7475 and of the striving H3820 of his heart, H1931 in which H6001 he labors H8121 under the sun?

  23 H3117 For all his days H4341 are sorrows, H6045 and his travail H3708 is grief; H3915 yes, even in the night H3820 his heart H7901 takes no rest. H1892 This also is vanity.

  24 H2896 There is nothing better H120 for a man H398 than that he should eat H8354 and drink, H5315 and make his soul H7200 enjoy H2896 good H5999 in his labor. H2090 This H7200 also I saw, H3027 that it is from the hand H430 of God.

  25 H398 For who can eat, H2363 or who can have enjoyment, H2351 more than I?

  26 H120 For to the man H2896 who pleases H6440 him, H5414 God gives H2451 wisdom, H1847 knowledge, H8057 and joy; H2398 but to the sinner H5414 he gives H6045 travail, H622 to gather H3664 and to heap up, H5414 that he may give H6440 to him who H2896 pleases H430 God. H1892 This also is vanity H7469 and a chasing H7307 after wind.
