  3 H5414 [H8804] And he gave H4159 a sign H3117 the same day H559 [H8800] , saying H4159 , This is the sign H3068 which the LORD H1696 [H8765] hath spoken H4196 ; Behold, the altar H7167 [H8738] shall be split apart H1880 , and the ashes H8210 [H8738] that are upon it shall be poured out.
  4 H4428 And it came to pass, when king H3379 Jeroboam H8085 [H8800] heard H1697 the saying H376 of the man H430 of God H7121 [H8804] , who had cried H4196 against the altar H1008 in Bethel H7971 [H8799] , that he put forth H3027 his hand H4196 from the altar H559 [H8800] , saying H8610 [H8798] , Lay hold H3027 on him. And his hand H7971 [H8804] , which he put forth H3001 [H8799] against him, dried up H3201 [H8804] , so that he could H7725 [H8687] not draw it to him again.
  5 H4196 The altar H7167 [H8738] also was split apart H1880 , and the ashes H8210 [H8735] poured out H4196 from the altar H4159 , according to the sign H376 which the man H430 of God H5414 [H8804] had given H1697 by the word H3068 of the LORD.
  6 H4428 And the king H6030 [H8799] answered H559 [H8799] and said H376 to the man H430 of God H2470 [H8761] , Entreat H6440 now the face H3068 of the LORD H430 thy God H6419 [H8690] , and pray H3027 for me, that my hand H7725 [H8799] may be restored to me again H376 . And the man H430 of God H2470 H6440 [H8762] besought H3068 the LORD H4428 , and the king's H3027 hand H7725 [H8799] was restored to him again H7223 , and became as it was before.
  7 H4428 And the king H1696 [H8762] said H376 to the man H430 of God H935 [H8798] , Come H1004 home H5582 [H8798] with me, and refresh H5414 [H8799] thyself, and I will give H4991 thee a reward.
  8 H376 And the man H430 of God H559 [H8799] said H4428 to the king H5414 [H8799] , If thou wilt give H2677 me half H1004 thy house H935 [H8799] , I will not go in H398 [H8799] with thee, neither will I eat H3899 bread H8354 [H8799] nor drink H4325 water H4725 in this place:
  9 H6680 [H8765] For so was it charged H1697 me by the word H3068 of the LORD H559 [H8800] , saying H398 [H8799] , Eat H3899 no bread H8354 [H8799] , nor drink H4325 water H7725 [H8799] , nor turn again H1870 by the same way H1980 [H8804] that thou camest.
  10 H3212 [H8799] So he went H312 another H1870 way H7725 [H8804] , and returned H1870 not by the way H935 [H8804] that he came H1008 to Bethel.
  11 H3427 [H8802] Now there dwelt H259 an H2205 old H5030 prophet H1008 in Bethel H1121 ; and his sons H935 [H8799] came H5608 [H8762] and told H4639 him all the works H376 that the man H430 of God H6213 [H8804] had done H3117 that day H1008 in Bethel H1697 : the words H1696 [H8765] which he had spoken H4428 to the king H5608 [H8762] , them they told H1 also to their father.
  12 H1 And their father H1696 [H8762] said H1870 to them, What way H1980 [H8804] went H1121 he? For his sons H7200 [H8799] had seen H335 what H1870 way H376 the man H430 of God H1980 [H8804] went H935 [H8804] , who came H3063 from Judah.
  13 H559 [H8799] And he said H1121 to his sons H2280 [H8798] , Saddle H2543 me the donkey H2280 [H8799] . So they saddled H2543 him the donkey H7392 [H8799] : and he rode on it,
  14 H3212 [H8799] And went H310 after H376 the man H430 of God H4672 [H8799] , and found H3427 [H8802] him sitting H424 under an oak H559 [H8799] : and he said H376 to him, Art thou the man H430 of God H935 [H8804] that camest H3063 from Judah H559 [H8799] ? And he said, I am.
  15 H559 [H8799] Then he said H3212 [H8798] to him, Come H1004 home H398 [H8798] with me, and eat H3899 bread.
  16 H559 [H8799] And he said H3201 [H8799] , I may H7725 [H8800] not return H935 [H8800] with thee, nor go in H398 [H8799] with thee: neither will I eat H3899 bread H8354 [H8799] nor drink H4325 water H4725 with thee in this place:
  17 H1697 For it was said H1697 to me by the word H3068 of the LORD H398 [H8799] , Thou shalt eat H3899 no bread H8354 [H8799] nor drink H4325 water H7725 [H8799] there, nor turn again H3212 [H8800] to go H1870 by the way H1980 [H8804] that thou camest.
  18 H559 [H8799] He said H5030 to him, I am a prophet H4397 also as thou art; and an angel H1696 [H8765] spoke H1697 to me by the word H3068 of the LORD H559 [H8800] , saying H7725 [H8685] , Bring him back H1004 with thee into thy house H398 [H8799] , that he may eat H3899 bread H8354 [H8799] and drink H4325 water H3584 [H8765] . But he lied to him.
  19 H7725 [H8799] So he went back H398 [H8799] with him, and ate H3899 bread H1004 in his house H8354 [H8799] , and drank H4325 water.
  20 H3427 [H8802] And it came to pass, as they sat H7979 at the table H1697 , that the word H3068 of the LORD H5030 came to the prophet H7725 [H8689] that brought him back:
  21 H7121 [H8799] And he cried H376 to the man H430 of God H935 [H8804] that came H3063 from Judah H559 [H8800] , saying H559 [H8804] , Thus saith H3068 the LORD H3282 , Forasmuch as H4784 [H8804] thou hast disobeyed H6310 the mouth H3068 of the LORD H8104 [H8804] , and hast not kept H4687 the commandment H3068 which the LORD H430 thy God H6680 [H8765] commanded thee,
  22 H7725 [H8799] But hast returned H398 [H8799] , and hast eaten H3899 bread H8354 [H8799] and drunk H4325 water H4725 in the place H1696 [H8765] , of which the LORD said H398 [H8799] to thee, Eat H3899 no bread H8354 [H8799] , and drink H4325 no water H5038 ; thy body H935 [H8799] shall not come H6913 to the sepulchre H1 of thy fathers.
  23 H310 And it came to pass, after H398 [H8800] he had eaten H3899 bread H310 , and after H8354 [H8800] he had drunk H2280 [H8799] , that he saddled H2543 for him the donkey H5030 , that is, for the prophet H7725 [H8689] whom he had brought back.
  24 H3212 [H8799] And when he had gone H738 , a lion H4672 [H8799] met H1870 him by the way H4191 [H8686] , and slew H5038 him: and his body H7993 [H8716] was cast H1870 in the way H2543 , and the donkey H5975 [H8802] stood H681 by H738 it, the lion H5975 [H8802] also stood H5038 by the body.
  25 H582 And, behold, men H5674 [H8802] passed by H7200 [H8799] , and saw H5038 the body H7993 [H8716] cast H1870 in the way H738 , and the lion H5975 [H8802] standing H681 by H5038 the body H935 [H8799] : and they came H1696 [H8762] and told H5892 it in the city H2205 where the old H5030 prophet H3427 [H8802] dwelt.
  26 H5030 And when the prophet H7725 [H8689] that brought him back H1870 from the way H8085 [H8799] heard H559 [H8799] of it, he said H376 , It is the man H430 of God H4784 [H8804] , who was disobedient H6310 to the word H3068 of the LORD H3068 : therefore the LORD H5414 [H8799] hath delivered H738 him to the lion H7665 [H8799] , which hath torn H4191 [H8686] him, and slain H1697 him, according to the word H3068 of the LORD H1696 [H8765] , which he spoke to him.
  27 H1696 [H8762] And he spoke H1121 to his sons H559 [H8800] , saying H2280 [H8798] , Saddle H2543 me the donkey H2280 [H8799] . And they saddled him.
  28 H3212 [H8799] And he went H4672 [H8799] and found H5038 his body H7993 [H8716] cast H1870 in the way H2543 , and the donkey H738 and the lion H5975 [H8802] standing H681 by H5038 the body H738 : the lion H398 [H8804] had not eaten H5038 the body H7665 [H8804] , nor torn H2543 the donkey.
  29 H5030 And the prophet H5375 [H8799] took up H5038 the body H376 of the man H430 of God H3240 [H8686] , and laid H2543 it upon the donkey H7725 [H8686] , and brought it back H2205 : and the old H5030 prophet H935 [H8799] came H5892 to the city H5594 [H8800] , to mourn H6912 [H8800] and to bury him.
  30 H3240 [H8686] And he laid H5038 his body H6913 in his own grave H5594 [H8799] ; and they mourned H1945 over him, saying, Alas H251 , my brother!
  31 H310 And it came to pass, after H6912 [H8800] he had buried H559 [H8799] him, that he spoke H1121 to his sons H559 [H8800] , saying H4191 [H8800] , When I am dead H6912 [H8804] , then bury H6913 me in the sepulchre H376 in which the man H430 of God H6912 [H8803] is buried H3240 [H8685] ; lay H6106 my bones H681 beside H6106 his bones:
  32 H1697 For the saying H7121 [H8804] which he cried H1697 by the word H3068 of the LORD H4196 against the altar H1008 in Bethel H1004 , and against all the houses H1116 of the high places H5892 which are in the cities H8111 of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.
  33 H310 After H1697 this thing H3379 Jeroboam H7725 [H8804] returned H7451 not from his evil H1870 way H6213 [H8799] , but made H7725 [H8799] again H7098 of the lowest H5971 of the people H3548 priests H1116 of the high places H2655 : whoever would H4390 H3027 [H8762] , he consecrated H3548 him, and he became one of the priests H1116 of the high places.
  34 H1697 And this thing H2403 became sin H1004 to the house H3379 of Jeroboam H3582 [H8687] , even to cut it off H8045 [H8687] , and to destroy H6440 it from the face H127 of the earth.
