It was added because of the transgressions, until the Seed should come to Whom it had been promised; having been arranged through angels in the hand of a mediator. ²⁰ Now a mediator is not of one, but God is one. ²¹ Is the law, then, against the promises of God? It could not be! For, if a law had been given, which was able to make alive, truly righteousness would have been by law; ²² but the Scripture shuts up all things under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. ²³ But, before the faith came, we were kept guarded under law, being shut up to the faith about to be revealed. ²⁴ So that the law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
