leading]
into the teaching (the instruction and training) [
which is]
ours (or: was written unto and for our instruction),
to the end that through the persistent remaining-under to give support (the humble yet relentless endurance in handling the blows),
and through the calling-alongside of the Scriptures (or: through the Scriptures' comfort, consolation, relief, aid, support and performance as a Paraclete)
we may constantly hold expectation (or: have expectant hope).
5 Now may the God of the persistent remaining-under to give support (or: Who has the qualities of this humble, patient and relentless endurance of the blows)
and of the calling-alongside for comfort, relief, consolation, aid and support (or: the God Who is humble endurance and is the essence of the performance of a Paraclete)
give to (or: grant for)
you folks to be constantly mutually disposed (to be minding the same thing; to be of this very opinion)
within and among one another, down from (or: in accord with and in the sphere of)
Jesus Christ [other MSS: [the] Anointed Jesus; = Jesus the Messiah],
