¹ ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew two tables of stone like unto the first; and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou didst break.

¹⁸ And he gave unto Moses, when he finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

¹⁶ And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

¹⁹ And it came to pass as soon as he came near unto the camp and he saw the calf and the dances, anger caused Moses to wax hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mount.

²⁸ ¶ And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

¹⁵ So I turned and came down from the mount with the two tables of the covenant in my two hands and the mount burned with fire, ¹⁶ and I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God and had made yourselves a molten calf; ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you. ¹⁷ Then I took the two tables and cast them out of my two hands and broke them before your eyes.

¹ ¶ At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first and come up unto me into the mount and make thee an ark of wood, ² and I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou didst brake, and thou shalt put them in the ark. ³ And I made an ark of cedar wood and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in my hand. ⁴ And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten words which the LORD spoke unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly; and the LORD gave them unto me.

⁸⁹ ¶ LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in the heavens.
