1 Samuel 28:3-25 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.

4 H6430 And the Philistines H6908 gathered H935 themselves together, and came H2583 and pitched H7766 in Shunem: H7586 and Saul H6908 gathered H3605 all H3478 Israel H2583 together, and they pitched H1533 in Gilboa.

5 H7586 And when Saul H7200 saw H4264 the host H6430 of the Philistines, H3372 he was afraid, H3820 and his heart H3966 greatly H2729 trembled.

6 H7586 And when Saul H7592 inquired H3068 of the LORD, H3068 the LORD H6030 answered H1571 him not, neither H2472 by dreams, H1571 nor H224 by Urim, H1571 nor H5030 by prophets.

7 H559 Then said H7586 Saul H5650 to his servants, H1245 Seek H802 me a woman H1172 that has H178 a familiar spirit, H3212 that I may go H1875 to her, and inquire H5650 of her. And his servants H559 said H2009 to him, Behold, H802 there is a woman H1172 that has H178 a familiar spirit H5874 at Endor.

8 H7586 And Saul H2664 disguised H3847 himself, and put H312 on other H899 raiment, H3212 and he went, H8147 and two H582 men H935 with him, and they came H802 to the woman H3915 by night: H559 and he said, H4994 I pray H7080 you, divine H178 to me by the familiar spirit, H5927 and bring H853 me him up, whom H834 H559 I shall name to you.

9 H802 And the woman H559 said H2009 to him, Behold, H3045 you know H853 what H834 H7586 Saul H6213 has done, H3772 how he has cut H178 off those that have familiar spirits, H3049 and the wizards, H776 out of the land: H4100 why H5367 then lay you a snare H5315 for my life, H4191 to cause me to die?

10 H7586 And Saul H7650 swore H3068 to her by the LORD, H559 saying, H3068 As the LORD H2416 lives, H518 there shall no H5771 punishment H7136 happen H2088 to you for this H1697 thing.

11 H559 Then said H802 the woman, H853 Whom H4310 H5927 shall I bring H559 up to you? And he said, H5927 Bring H8050 me up Samuel.

12 H802 And when the woman H7200 saw H8050 Samuel, H2199 she cried H1419 with a loud H6963 voice: H802 and the woman H559 spoke H7586 to Saul, H559 saying, H4100 Why H7411 have you deceived H7586 me? for you are Saul.

13 H4428 And the king H559 said H3372 to her, Be not afraid: H4100 for what H7200 saw H802 you? And the woman H559 said H7586 to Saul, H7200 I saw H430 gods H5927 ascending H776 out of the earth.

14 H559 And he said H4100 to her, What H8389 form H559 is he of? And she said, H2205 An old H376 man H5927 comes H5844 up; and he is covered H4598 with a mantle. H7586 And Saul H3045 perceived H8050 that it was Samuel, H6915 and he stooped H639 with his face H776 to the ground, H7812 and bowed himself.

15 H8050 And Samuel H559 said H7586 to Saul, H4100 Why H7264 have you disquieted H5927 me, to bring H7586 me up? And Saul H6030 answered, H3966 I am sore H6887 distressed; H6430 for the Philistines H3898 make war H430 against me, and God H5493 is departed H6030 from me, and answers H3808 me no H1571 more, neither H5030 by prophets, H1571 nor H2472 by dreams: H7121 therefore I have called H3045 you, that you may make known H4100 to me what H6213 I shall do.

16 H559 Then said H8050 Samuel, H4100 Why H7592 then do you ask H3068 of me, seeing the LORD H5493 is departed H1961 from you, and is become H6145 your enemy?

17 H3068 And the LORD H6213 has done H1696 to him, as he spoke H3068 by me: for the LORD H7167 has rent H4467 the kingdom H3027 out of your hand, H5414 and given H7453 it to your neighbor, H1732 even to David:

18 H834 Because H8085 you obeyed H6963 not the voice H3068 of the LORD, H3808 nor H6213 executed H2740 his fierce H639 wrath H6002 on Amalek, H5921 therefore H3651 H3068 has the LORD H6213 done H2088 this H1697 thing H2088 to you this H3117 day.

19 H1571 Moreover H3068 the LORD H1571 will also H5414 deliver H3478 Israel H3027 with you into the hand H6430 of the Philistines: H4279 and to morrow H1121 shall you and your sons H3068 be with me: the LORD H1571 also H5414 shall deliver H4264 the host H3478 of Israel H3027 into the hand H6430 of the Philistines.

20 H7586 Then Saul H5307 fell H4116 straightway H4393 all H4393 along H6967 H776 on the earth, H3966 and was sore H3372 afraid, H1697 because of the words H8050 of Samuel: H3808 and there was no H3581 strength H398 in him; for he had eaten H3808 no H3899 bread H3605 all H3117 the day, H3605 nor all H3915 the night.

21 H802 And the woman H935 came H7586 to Saul, H7200 and saw H3966 that he was sore H926 troubled, H559 and said H2009 to him, Behold, H8198 your handmaid H8085 has obeyed H6963 your voice, H7760 and I have put H5315 my life H3709 in my hand, H8085 and have listened H1697 to your words H834 which H1696 you spoke to me.

22 H6258 Now H4994 therefore, I pray H8085 you, listen H1571 you also H6963 to the voice H8198 of your handmaid, H7760 and let me set H6595 a morsel H3899 of bread H6440 before H398 you; and eat, H3581 that you may have strength, H3588 when H3212 you go H1870 on your way.

23 H3985 But he refused, H559 and said, H398 I will not eat. H5650 But his servants, H802 together with the woman, H6555 compelled H8085 him; and he listened H6963 to their voice. H6965 So he arose H776 from the earth, H3427 and sat H4296 on the bed.

24 H802 And the woman H4770 had a fat H5695 calf H1004 in the house; H4116 and she hurried, H2076 and killed H3947 it, and took H7058 flour, H3888 and kneaded H644 it, and did bake H4682 unleavened bread thereof:

25 H5066 And she brought H6440 it before H7586 Saul, H6440 and before H5650 his servants; H398 and they did eat. H6965 Then they rose H3212 up, and went H3915 away that night.
