Zephaniah The word of Yahweh which comes to Zephaniah, son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah, son of Amon, king of Judah."

CLV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ The word of Yahweh which comes to Zephaniah, son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah, son of Amon, king of Judah." ² I will utterly terminate all off the surface of the ground, (averring is Yahweh)." ³ I will terminate human and beast. I will terminate the flyer of the heavens and the fish of the sea, and the stumbling blocks with the wicked. And I cut humanity off the surface of the ground, (averring is Yahweh)." ⁴ I stretch out My hand over Judah, and over all dwellers of Jerusalem. And I cut off the name of Baal from this place, and the name of the dervishes with the priests, ⁵ and those worshiping on the house tops to the host of the heavens, and those worshiping--swearing to Yahweh and swearing by their king, ⁶ and those turned away from after Yahweh, who do not seek Yahweh, nor inquire of Him." ⁷ Hist! At the presence of my Lord, Yahweh, for near is the day of Yahweh! For Yahweh prepares a sacrifice; he sanctifies His called ones." ⁸ It comes in the day of Yahweh's sacrifice that I visit evil on the chiefs and on the king's sons, and on all those clothed in foreign clothing." ⁹ And I visit evil on everyone leaping over the sill in that day; those filling the house of Yahweh, their Elohim, with violence and deceit." ¹⁰ There comes in that day, (averring is Yahweh), a sound of a cry from the fish gate, and a howling from the second quarter, and a great breaking from the hills:" ¹¹ Howl, dwellers of Maktesh, for all the people of Canaan are stilled; all transporters of silver are cut off." ¹² It comes at that season I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I visit evil on the mortals who are curdled on their lees, those saying in their heart, Yahweh will not do good, nor will He do evil." ¹³ Their estate shall come to be robbed goods, and their houses desolation; and they shall build houses, yet shall not dwell in them, and they shall plant vineyards, yet shall not drink their wine." ¹⁴ Near is the great day of Yahweh! Near and exceedingly swift! The sound of the day of Yahweh! The master shall shriek there bitterly. ¹⁵ A day of rage is that day, a day of distress and constraint, a day of futility and futile effort, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of cloud and murkiness, ¹⁶ a day of trumpet and blast against the defended cities, and against the lofty corners." ¹⁷ And I cause distress for humanity, and they go as the blind, for against Yahweh they sin. And their blood shall be poured out as soil, and their intestines as ordure." ¹⁸ Moreover, their silver and their gold, will not be able to rescue them in the day of the rage of Yahweh; and by the fire of His jealousy the entire land shall be devoured; for a finish, yea, a hustled one, shall He make of all dwelling in the land."
