Genesis 39 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt ; and Potiphar , an officer of Pharaoh , captain of the guard , an Egyptian , bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites , which had brought him down thither.

1 H3130 And Joseph H3381 was brought down [H8717] H4714 to Egypt H6318 ; and Potiphar H5631 , an officer H6547 of Pharaoh H8269 , captain H2876 of the guard H376 , an Egyptian H4713 H7069 , bought [H8799] H3027 him of the hands H3459 of the Ishmeelites H3381 , which had brought him down [H8689] thither.

2 H3068 And the LORD H3130 was with Joseph H6743 , and he was a prosperous [H8688] H376 man H1004 ; and he was in the house H113 of his master H4713 the Egyptian.

3 H113 And his master H7200 saw [H8799] H3068 that the LORD H3068 was with him, and that the LORD H6213 made all that he did [H8802] H6743 to prosper [H8688] H3027 in his hand.

4 H3130 And Joseph H4672 found [H8799] H2580 grace H5869 in his sight H8334 , and he served [H8762] H6485 him: and he made him overseer [H8686] H1004 over his house H3426 , and all that he had H5414 he put [H8804] H3027 into his hand.

5 H227 And it came to pass from the time H6485 that he had made him overseer [H8689] H1004 in his house H3426 , and over all that he had H3068 , that the LORD H1288 blessed [H8762] H4713 the Egyptian's H1004 house H3130 for Joseph's H1558 sake H1293 ; and the blessing H3068 of the LORD H3426 was upon all that he had H1004 in the house H7704 , and in the field.

6 H5800 And he left [H8799] H3130 all that he had in Joseph's H3027 hand H3045 ; and he knew [H8804] H3972 not ought H518 he had, save H3899 the bread H398 which he did eat [H8802] H3130 . And Joseph H8389 was a goodly H3303 person, and well H4758 favoured.

7 H310 And it came to pass after H1697 these things H113 , that his master's H802 wife H5375 cast [H8799] H5869 her eyes H3130 upon Joseph H559 ; and she said [H8799] H7901 , Lie [H8798] with me.

8 H3985 But he refused [H8762] H559 , and said [H8799] H113 unto his master's H802 wife H113 , Behold, my master H3045 wotteth [H8804] H1004 not what is with me in the house H5414 , and he hath committed [H8804] H3426 all that he hath H3027 to my hand;

9 H1419 There is none greater H1004 in this house H3808 than I; neither H2820 hath he kept back [H8804] H3972 any thing H834 from me but thee, because H859 thou H802 art his wife H6213 : how then can I do [H8799] H1419 this great H7451 wickedness H2398 , and sin [H8804] H430 against God?

10 H1696 And it came to pass, as she spake [H8763] H3130 to Joseph H3117 day H3117 by day H8085 , that he hearkened [H8804] H7901 not unto her, to lie [H8800] H681 by her, or to be with her.

11 H3117 And it came to pass about this time H935 , that Joseph went [H8799] H1004 into the house H6213 to do [H8800] H4399 his business H376 ; and there was none of the men H582 H1004 of the house there within.

12 H8610 And she caught [H8799] H899 him by his garment H559 , saying [H8800] H7901 , Lie [H8798] H5800 with me: and he left [H8799] H899 his garment H3027 in her hand H5127 , and fled [H8799] H3318 , and got [H8799] H2351 him out.

13 H7200 And it came to pass, when she saw [H8800] H5800 that he had left [H8804] H899 his garment H3027 in her hand H5127 , and was fled [H8799] H2351 forth,

14 H7121 That she called [H8799] H582 unto the men H1004 of her house H559 , and spake [H8799] H559 unto them, saying [H8800] H7200 , See [H8798] H935 , he hath brought in [H8689] H376 an Hebrew H5680 H6711 unto us to mock [H8763] H935 us; he came in [H8804] H7901 unto me to lie [H8800] H7121 with me, and I cried [H8799] H1419 with a loud H6963 voice:

15 H8085 And it came to pass, when he heard [H8800] H7311 that I lifted up [H8689] H6963 my voice H7121 and cried [H8799] H5800 , that he left [H8799] H899 his garment H681 with me H5127 , and fled [H8799] H3318 , and got him [H8799] H2351 out.

16 H3240 And she laid up [H8686] H899 his garment H681 by her H113 , until his lord H935 came [H8800] H1004 home.

17 H1696 And she spake [H8762] H1697 unto him according to these words H559 , saying [H8800] H5680 , The Hebrew H5650 servant H935 , which thou hast brought [H8689] H935 unto us, came in [H8804] H6711 unto me to mock [H8763] me:

18 H7311 And it came to pass, as I lifted up [H8687] H6963 my voice H7121 and cried [H8799] H5800 , that he left [H8799] H899 his garment H681 with me H5127 , and fled [H8799] H2351 out.

19 H113 And it came to pass, when his master H8085 heard [H8800] H1697 the words H802 of his wife H1696 , which she spake [H8765] H559 unto him, saying [H8800] H1697 , After this manner H6213 did [H8804] H5650 thy servant H639 to me; that his wrath H2734 was kindled [H8799] .

20 H3130 And Joseph's H113 master H3947 took [H8799] H5414 him, and put him [H8799] H1004 into the prison H5470 H4725 , a place H4428 where the king's H615 prisoners H631 were bound [H8803] H1004 : and he was there in the prison H5470 .

21 H3068 But the LORD H3130 was with Joseph H5186 , and shewed [H8799] H2617 him mercy H5414 , and gave [H8799] H2580 him favour H5869 in the sight H8269 of the keeper H1004 of the prison H5470 .

22 H8269 And the keeper H1004 of the prison H5470 H5414 committed [H8799] H3130 to Joseph's H3027 hand H615 all the prisoners H1004 that were in the prison H5470 H6213 ; and whatsoever they did [H8802] H6213 there, he was the doer [H8802] of it .

23 H8269 The keeper H1004 of the prison H5470 H7200 looked [H8802] H3972 not to any thing H3027 that was under his hand H3068 ; because the LORD H6213 was with him, and that which he did [H8802] H3068 , the LORD H6743 made it to prosper [H8688] .
