Job 1:1-8 There was a man in the land of Uz , whose name was Job ; and that man was perfect and upright , and one that feared God , and eschewed evil.

3 H4735 His substance H7651 also was seven H505 thousand H6629 sheep H7969 , and three H505 thousand H1581 camels H2568 , and five H3967 hundred H6776 yoke H1241 of oxen H2568 , and five H3967 hundred H860 she asses H3966 , and a very H7227 great H5657 household H376 ; so that this man H1419 was the greatest H1121 of all the men H6924 of the east.

4 H1121 And his sons H1980 went [H8804] H4960 and feasted H6213 [H8804] H1004 in their houses H376 , every one H3117 his day H7971 ; and sent [H8804] H7121 and called [H8804] H7969 for their three H269 sisters H398 to eat [H8800] H8354 and to drink [H8800] with them.

5 H3117 And it was so, when the days H4960 of their feasting H5362 were gone about [H8689] H347 , that Job H7971 sent [H8799] H6942 and sanctified [H8762] H7925 them, and rose up early [H8689] H1242 in the morning H5927 , and offered [H8689] H5930 burnt offerings H4557 according to the number H347 of them all: for Job H559 said [H8804] H194 , It may be H1121 that my sons H2398 have sinned [H8804] H1288 , and cursed [H8765] H430 God H3824 in their hearts H6213 . Thus did [H8799] H347 Job H3117 continually.

6 H3117 Now there was a day H1121 when the sons H430 of God H935 came [H8799] H3320 to present [H8692] H3068 themselves before the LORD H7854 , and Satan H935 came [H8799] H8432 also among them.

7 H3068 And the LORD H559 said [H8799] H7854 unto Satan H370 , Whence H935 comest [H8799] H7854 thou? Then Satan H6030 answered [H8799] H3068 the LORD H559 , and said [H8799] H7751 , From going to and fro [H8800] H776 in the earth H1980 , and from walking up and down [H8692] in it.

8 H3068 And the LORD H559 said [H8799] H7854 unto Satan H7760 , Hast thou considered [H8804] H3820 H5650 my servant H347 Job H776 , that there is none like him in the earth H8535 , a perfect H3477 and an upright H376 man H3373 , one that feareth H430 God H5493 , and escheweth [H8802] H7451 evil?
