1 Chronicles 17 Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.

1 H1732 Now it came to pass, as David H3427 [H8804] sat H1004 in his house, H1732 that David H559 [H8799] said H5416 to Nathan H5030 the prophet, H3427 [H8802] Lo, I dwell H1004 in an house H730 of cedars, H727 but the ark H1285 of the covenant H3068 of the LORD H3407 remaineth under curtains.

2 H5416 Then Nathan H559 [H8799] said H1732 to David, H6213 [H8798] Do H3824 all that is in thy heart; H430 for God is with thee.

3 H3915 And it came to pass the same night, H1697 that the word H430 of God H5416 came to Nathan, H559 [H8800] saying,

4 H3212 [H8798] Go H559 [H8804] and tell H1732 David H5650 my servant, H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD, H1129 [H8799] Thou shalt not build H1004 me an house H3427 [H8800] to dwell in:

5 H3427 [H8804] For I have not dwelt in H1004 an house H3117 since the day H5927 [H8689] that I brought up H3478 Israel H3117 to this day; H168 but have gone from tent H168 to tent, H4908 and from one tabernacle to another.

6 H1980 [H8694] Wherever I have walked H3478 with all Israel, H1696 [H8765] have I spoken H1697 a word H259 to any H8199 [H8802] of the judges H3478 of Israel, H6680 [H8765] whom I commanded H7462 [H8800] to feed H5971 my people, H559 [H8800] saying, H1129 [H8804] Why have ye not built H1004 me an house H730 of cedars?

7 H559 [H8799] Now therefore thus shalt thou say H5650 to my servant H1732 David, H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts, H3947 [H8804] I took H5116 thee from the sheepfold, H310 even from following H6629 the sheep, H5057 that thou shouldest be ruler H5971 over my people H3478 Israel:

8 H1980 [H8804] And I have been with thee wherever thou hast walked, H3772 [H8686] and have cut off H341 [H8802] all thy enemies H6440 from the face of H6213 [H8804] thee, and have made H8034 thee a name H8034 like the name H1419 of the great men H776 that are in the earth.

9 H7760 [H8804] Also I will ordain H4725 a place H5971 for my people H3478 Israel, H5193 [H8804] and will plant H7931 [H8804] them, and they shall dwell H7264 [H8799] in their place, and shall be moved H1121 no more; neither shall the sons H5766 of distortion H1086 [H8763] waste H3254 [H8686] them any more, H7223 as at the beginning,

10 H3117 And since the time H6680 [H8765] that I commanded H8199 [H8802] judges H5971 to be over my people H3478 Israel. H3665 [H8689] Moreover I will subdue H341 [H8802] all thy enemies. H5046 [H8686] Furthermore I tell H3068 thee that the LORD H1129 [H8799] will build H1004 thee an house.

11 H3117 And it shall come to pass, when thy days H4390 [H8804] shall be ended H3212 [H8800] that thou must go H1 to be with thy fathers, H6965 [H8689] that I will raise up H2233 thy seed H310 after H1121 thee, who shall be of thy sons; H3559 [H8689] and I will establish H4438 his kingdom.

12 H1129 [H8799] He shall build H1004 me an house, H3559 [H8790] and I will establish H3678 his throne H5704 for H5769 ever.

13 H1 I will be his father, H1121 and he shall be my son: H5493 0 and I will not take H2617 my mercy H5493 [H8686] away H5493 [H8689] from him, as I took H6440 it from him that was at the face of thee:

14 H5975 [H8689] But I will settle H1004 him in my house H4438 and in my kingdom H5769 to the age: H3678 and his throne H3559 [H8737] shall be established H5704 for H5769 evermore.

15 H1697 According to all these words, H2377 and according to all this vision, H5416 so did Nathan H1696 [H8765] speak H1732 to David.

16 H1732 And David H4428 the king H935 [H8799] came H3427 [H8799] and sat H6440 at the face of H3068 the LORD, H559 [H8799] and said, H3068 Who am I, O LORD H430 God, H1004 and what is my house, H935 [H8689] that thou hast brought H1988 me thus far?

17 H6994 [H8799] And yet this was a small thing H5869 in thine eyes, H430 O God; H1696 [H8762] for thou hast also spoken H5650 of thy servant's H1004 house H7350 for a great while to come, H7200 [H8804] and hast regarded H8448 me according to the estate H120 of a man H4609 of high degree, H3068 O LORD H430 God.

18 H3254 0 What can H1732 David H3254 [H8686] speak more H3519 to thee for the glory H5650 of thy servant? H3045 [H8804] for thou knowest H5650 thy servant.

19 H3068 O LORD, H5650 for thy servant's H3820 sake, and according to thy own heart, H6213 [H8804] hast thou done H1420 all this greatness, H3045 [H8687] in making known H1420 all these great things.

20 H3068 O LORD, H430 there is none like thee, neither is there any God H2108 besides H8085 [H8804] thee, according to all that we have heard H241 with our ears.

21 H259 And what one H1471 nation H776 in the earth H5971 is like thy people H3478 Israel, H430 whom God H1980 [H8804] went H6299 [H8800] to ransom H5971 to be his own people, H7760 [H8800] to make H8034 thee a name H1420 by great H3372 [H8737] and terrible things, H1644 [H8763] by driving out H1471 nations H6440 from the face of H5971 thy people, H6299 [H8804] whom thou hast ransomed H4714 out of Egypt?

22 H5971 For thy people H3478 Israel H5414 [H8799] didst thou make H5971 thy own people H5704 for H5769 ever; H3068 and thou, LORD, H430 becamest their God.

23 H3068 Therefore now, LORD, H1697 let the thing H1696 [H8765] that thou hast spoken H5650 concerning thy servant H1004 and concerning his house H539 [H8735] be established H5704 for H5769 ever, H6213 [H8798] and do H1696 [H8765] as thou hast said.

24 H539 [H8735] Let it even be established, H8034 that thy name H1431 [H8799] may be magnified H5704 for H5769 ever, H559 [H8800] saying, H3068 The LORD H6635 of hosts H430 is the God H3478 of Israel, H430 even a God H3478 to Israel: H1004 and let the house H1732 of David H5650 thy servant H3559 [H8737] be established H6440 at the face of thee.

25 H430 For thou, O my God, H1540 H241 [H8804] hast told H5650 thy servant H1129 [H8800] that thou wilt build H1004 him an house: H5650 therefore thy servant H4672 [H8804] hath found H6419 [H8692] to pray H6440 at the face of thee.

26 H3068 And now, LORD, H430 thou art God, H1696 [H8762] and hast promised H2896 this goodness H5650 to thy servant:

27 H2974 [H8689] Now therefore let it please H1288 [H8763] thee to bless H1004 the house H5650 of thy servant, H6440 that it may be at the face of H5769 thee to the age: H1288 [H8765] for thou blessest, H3068 O LORD, H1288 [H8794] and it shall be blessed H5769 to the age.
